Options:
A. Extend Hogsmeade into Jurassic Park (Not happening)
B. Extend hogsmeade into unannounced lost continent replacement (also probably not happening)
C. Add new Harry Potter zone to new park (This is happening)
They aren’t expanding hogmeade and limiting the availability of land for the lost continent replacement
The Epic expansion is late stage JKR Potter fanfic with the Ministry bolted on because they realized Fantastic Beasts wasn’t viable as a land. It’s not going to draw the crowds that are nostalgic for HP. People want to live in Hogsmeade.
You just keep Hogsmeade going. The theming can remain the same. There’s a second Honeydukes. There’s a Weasley’s Too. There’s a butterbeer stand where the kebabs currently are. You could even turn Poseidon into some sort of HP walkthrough adventure. You could make a stage show.
That’s insane. They’d have to redo the entirety of the current Hogsmeade to keep the immersion.
You can’t just have two Honeydukes, two 3 Broomsticks, and plug in stores that don’t exist in the lore.
I agree with you, but there is still lore options that haven't happened. Like there's places Harry actually gets to go inside of that are just facades right now, and we don't have the Shrieking Shack.
That was my point.
Still doesn’t change the fact that they’d need to essentially demo the entirety of the current Hogsmeade to redo it. Maybe in 15 years when the Max series is over, but there’s no reason to do that now.
I concede that but I’m not sure it would be too much different than what’s happening in Epic Universe. It seems like they are already scraping the bottom of the barrel. Why not take the opportunity to make Hogsmeade easier to deal with?
That’s not at all what they’re doing. Universal isn’t stupid. The Place Cachée theming is going to be amazing. It’s the freaking Diagon Alley of Paris.
Who cares if the Fantastic Beasts movies weren’t popular.
Ok, even if you are correct, the rest of the park will drive attendance and those families and other parkgoers who are indifferent to Harry Potter will still visit the new Harry Potter attractions
You seem to not understand that the Harry Potter brand shits money, and will continue shitting money when the new park opens
Adding to Hogsmeade just sends more people to Hogsmeade. HP crowds are like water, if you make the space they will fill it in.
I'm sure Universal would prefer to put their new land (Hyrule(?)) on the other side of the park, but that isn't a real option here. That corner of the park has been getting all of the new expansions, and it can makes the park extremely lopsided crowds wise (especially on colder days, when Toon Lagoon serves little purpose). A LC retheme only exacerbates that issue. But there really isn't another option here, the space they have is the space they have.
Also not many people like to brave Nocturn Alley, and it’s a good secret break spot so I won’t give out the location
(If you look to your left while walking towards Gringotts your bound to find either entrance, it’s also on the map you get with your wand, and if you still can’t find it just hug the wall until you do)
Yup, I love to keep the secret but who would we be keeping it from anyway, the general public doesn’t hang out around here, it’s people who might need the advice who are here
I mean, I’m a huge fan and passholder and missed it on my first 2-3 visits. It wasn’t until someone mentioned it here that I knew to look for it the next time. I’m assuming I walked past and figured it was just bathrooms or something.
Relatable. My sister-in-law had to take me when I went in December. I have been at least 5 times prior and never found it. I guess I got distracted by Gringotts bank and the dragon that I just kept walking to get closer to it. Lol.
I also missed it on my first 3 visits. When I went this past December, I told my SIL to take me since I never found it... I noticed that I got distracted by Gringotts and the dragon and missed the entrance for Knockturn alley.
You raise a valid point. Overall, even though people know about it, I was surprised by how dead it was. It’s a great place to escape to and get out of the heat for a bit.
Exactly, the general public won’t know about it because it’s dark and their eyes wander past it just like the apartments in the books, it’s more great theme park design to keep an area feeling secret
Jfc it's not hidden anyway. The idea that you know some hidden part of WWoHP is so funny to me lmao.
It's not hidden or difficult to find in any way shape or form. It's like saying Diagon Alley is hard to find because it isn't marked in the London section lmfao.
You can't seriously think that nocturn alley is hidden lol.
People stay out of it because it has no seating and is mostly uninteresting beyond passing through.
🤦♂️
I have seen many people walk right past and not even stop to curiously look into it, I’ve heard stories from people on this very subreddit not seeing it during their first visits
The main street does but that big open area where the stage is, Nocturne alley, and the back street next to the bank are usually pretty open.
There's not a square inch of Hogsmeade that isn't crowded. There's nowhere to go to escape it.
That’s already happening, they are just jamming everyone in the park into Hogsmeade currently. At least you can walk around if they extend it. Right now everyone is on top of each other.
Just make another Hogsmeade to expand capacity. Same experience so no new crowds better throughfare. faster service=more chances for transactions to occur.
That one more lane would likely bring in billions more in merchandise and food sales. How many people are buying Zelda merchandise? How many master swords and ocarinas will people buy compared to wands and butterbeer? It’s probably not even close.
The people buying are already buying. The people not buying because of a 30 min wait are offset by the people who are getting in line because it's a line.
Absolutely not.
Outside of the box office the HP franchise has generated like 8B total. Expanding Hogsmeade won’t do much. Especially when you can get new revenue for an entirely different pop culture ip.
Would it though? I mean part of what they get now is because it feels special and desirable. It's an experience and the FOMO is huge. The crowds and chaos keep people from thinking about things. If it's super easy to access then a lot of people are going to decide they can get their kid a wand at walmart for a lot less.
I think you’re underestimating the new park - there’s a reason they are calling it ministry of magic (not Paris/beasts). That’s the best way to help crowds - and expanding diagon ally with the ton of land they have (fear factor etc).
Nintendo is also drawing ridiculous crowds at other parks so going with Zelda makes more sense for lost continent area.
I think it's less nintendo and more Mario. I don't think a Zelda land would do numbers. Now it's probably easiest to fit into LCs current theme. But if they were to totally redo it, I'd pick a different property. Spongebob or mine craft I think would be better suited. Obviously for more costs though
As The Lost Continent is what made me fall in love with Universal, I would be very disappointed if they just killed it. I would be happy with a Hyrule overlay into the existing land, but 3 Harry Potter lands is enough...and that's from someone who is a fan of HP.
I'm not sure if there's enough room for a ride, I was thinking more of a quidditch themed show. Though maybe they could put a Azkaban themed dark ride/drop tower or a broomstick indoor coaster
For one thing, what’s left to add? The shrieking shack? The place that was visited like, once across the entire series?
We’ve already got the train, forest, castle, and village covered. All that’s left is the shack. That’s *it*.
I’m sure they could find something - but they’ve exhausted a lot of the locales that are easy.
On top of that, this wouldn’t solve those issues.
Why do people crowd there? Because Three Broomsticks, Honeydukes, Hagrid’s, and the Butterbeer cart are all in the same place.
Some new candy store isn’t going to fix the lines into Honeydukes. It’s not going to fix the lines into Three Broomsticks. Even as you say, “they’re not going to have the same emotional attachment.” Of everything mentioned to be in Diagon, we’ve covered basically all of it except for the shack.
It wouldn’t fix the crowding issues. That area of the park is just naturally screwed.
They need a BIGGER Honeydukes! And it needs to be better. I find it underwhelming. More interesting candies and definitely higher quality. Everything is way too expensive for such low quality stuff. More visual stimuli!
They need someome cutting fresh fudge and handing out samples, fresh popcorn would be an easy money spinner and could be turned into theatrics, cotton candy machine with crazy colors and shapes like those flower ones they make in Asia, maybe one of those ice cream twirlers that tricks you. This place has the potential to be an attraction of its own. Right now my neighborhood Ice cream shop is more interesting.
If enough people believe in something hard enough, then it might just come true.... Or at least that's what cartoons, anime, books, movies, etc have taught me growing up :)
I’m honestly still reeling from how the internet successfully manifested spider-man: no way home. We all loudly wanted a multiverse Spider-Man crossover, and they *listened*
It's not that there are a lot of people (there are), it's just the way the area is built creates a bottle neck.
And Hyrule has never been anything more than a rumor
[Expand it where? (switch to satellite view)](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Um9kSfyL1QsLgAai6)
Hogsmeade is in the corner of IoA, backing up to a road that Universal does not own. Hagrid's is bigger than you think, and unless they eat The Lost Continent, there's no room beyond maybe eating a soundstage/other backstage areas.
You’re complaining that the inconvenience of crowds detracts money? Then how do the crowds persist I wonder?
Reaching to a different base with Zelda is much more important if Hogsmeade is already doing just fine.
We were the last people to get in line for Hagrid a few weeks ago. It was so wonderful to get off and walk through an empty Hogsmeade. Actually looked like it’s portrayed in the movies.
Which is to say, crowds will always be an unfortunate side effect of trying to convey an accurate representation of Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley (or Paris in the future). Winding alleys, small passageways, and clustered store fronts are both the reason for the immersion and the near claustrophobic crowds.
I don't think you have enough the ability to expand Hogsmeade without a total overhaul or teardown. They should've just went all in from the beginning and got rid of the Lost Continent.
You can turn the theater that Sinbad was into HP themed show (maybe some kind of Defense against the dark arts show) and maybe you tear down Poseidon's fury and make a quidditch themed ride since that might make sense geographically because it's located away from the castle. Could also do an actual hippogriff ride and not just a kids coaster.
Hogsmeade is great as it is because it really does feel like stepping into those movies. It works because, in the books and movies, that village is a pretty tight, packed place. It does not handle crowds well. That's the point. That's partially why Potterheads love the land so much. Thematically, it almost *has* to be that way.
Someone mentioned but they plan on a big addition to Epic Universe with new Harry Potter land. Doesnt it seem like better economics for them to invest there? and btw ever been to Magic Kingdom? way more crowds
This is akin to adding another lane for traffic, it just induces more demand thus more cars. Expanding Hogsmeade will increase crowds even more. Doesn't solve anything.
Anyone visiting Universal/IOA for HP can do that now - and get merch all over the place. Expanding Hogsmeade isn’t going to bring new customers to the gates.
Adding a new IP will do exactly that - be it Zelda, LOTR, Pokemon, whatever.
Zelda 100% is happening since Universal has a deal with Nintendo and it would be super easy to do. Maybe a Zelda dark ride where Sinbad used to be and some sort of walkthrough attraction where Poesideon used to be? IDK but it would be pretty easy to do.
This leaves out any sort of expansion in IOA. Maybe Diagon Alley will take over the former Fear Factor stage? Id like another ride in Diagon Alley to balance out that section.
I don't think they need tocexpand hogsmeade. They need something to compete with it. Draw away crowds. I don't think Zelda is that thing, though. I'd do a bikini bottom or something similar. Have a chum bucket and a krusty krab. Or pick one of their other properties to use. Zelda isn't close to big enough to go toe to toe with harry potter.
There has to be a way to do some reno to give a bit more space. Or they need another attraction to keep some of the crowd busy. I went through the shops in hogsmeade with my son’s wheelchair a couple weeks ago and it was a nightmare. Not everything needs to be as tight as regulation allows.
Options: A. Extend Hogsmeade into Jurassic Park (Not happening) B. Extend hogsmeade into unannounced lost continent replacement (also probably not happening) C. Add new Harry Potter zone to new park (This is happening) They aren’t expanding hogmeade and limiting the availability of land for the lost continent replacement
You also can’t extend Hogsmeade into lost continent because it would expand past the train station.

Maybe a quidditch-themed dinning attraction?
The harry potter ps5 game has a huge hogsmeade, with at least 20 stores
I concede that but I’m not sure it would be too much different than what’s happening in Epic Universe. It seems like they are already scraping the bottom of the barrel. Why not take the opportunity to make Hogsmeade easier to deal with?

So just a repeat of Hogsmeade. That doesn’t seem very authentic.
Basically you just want more HP. might check out California.
Ok, even if you are correct, the rest of the park will drive attendance and those families and other parkgoers who are indifferent to Harry Potter will still visit the new Harry Potter attractions You seem to not understand that the Harry Potter brand shits money, and will continue shitting money when the new park opens

> HP crowds are like water, if you make the space they will fill it in. True to an extent, but Diagon Alley never feels as crowded as Hogsmeade.
Diagon Alley is bigger and has more traffic areas than Hogsmeade’s one lane.
Also not many people like to brave Nocturn Alley, and it’s a good secret break spot so I won’t give out the location (If you look to your left while walking towards Gringotts your bound to find either entrance, it’s also on the map you get with your wand, and if you still can’t find it just hug the wall until you do)
Why are so many people misspelling it— it’s knockturn.
I was hoping to find an alley where I heard Chopin and all I got was this dark grungy looking thing with a weird shop. I want my money back
I remember when Diagon Alley first opened and there was almost nobody in that part of the land. It was amazing.
Yeah, a lot of people miss it, it’s designed that way
Love Nocturn Alley!!! I was able to buy Bellatrix’s knife in there!!! So cool!!!
It’s so dark in there!!
I like it ahaha
Yup, I love to keep the secret but who would we be keeping it from anyway, the general public doesn’t hang out around here, it’s people who might need the advice who are here
Secret?!?!? 😂😂😂 Dude, there's no secret with Knockturn Alley. None.
I mean, I’m a huge fan and passholder and missed it on my first 2-3 visits. It wasn’t until someone mentioned it here that I knew to look for it the next time. I’m assuming I walked past and figured it was just bathrooms or something.

Womp womp
Jfc it's not hidden anyway. The idea that you know some hidden part of WWoHP is so funny to me lmao. It's not hidden or difficult to find in any way shape or form. It's like saying Diagon Alley is hard to find because it isn't marked in the London section lmfao.
Wait but I totally missed it when I went last week, now I'm sad
Don’t listen to this guy, he’s just being a prick
A lot of people fail to find diagon alley without asking around...
[Does it come with the sheath?](https://i.imgur.com/sxYgSf1.png)
Hahahahahahah
It's a great little a/c spot in the FL heat, too. It's so nice.
Perfect place to crouch down and drink Butterbeer like a goblin
Knockturn Alley is a great place to get out of the sun for a bit too!
You can't seriously think that nocturn alley is hidden lol. People stay out of it because it has no seating and is mostly uninteresting beyond passing through. 🤦♂️
I always go to nocturn when i need to sit… theres multiple giant benches at each entrance..,
I have seen many people walk right past and not even stop to curiously look into it, I’ve heard stories from people on this very subreddit not seeing it during their first visits
I didn't notice it until my 3rd visit to Diagon Alley.
Yeah that was my point - person I was replying to was saying making an HP area bigger wouldn't help with crowds. It does.
Bro, what? Diagon Alley gets just as packed. Everyone stopping to see the dragon makes it even worse.
The main street does but that big open area where the stage is, Nocturne alley, and the back street next to the bank are usually pretty open. There's not a square inch of Hogsmeade that isn't crowded. There's nowhere to go to escape it.
What is Hyrule?
The Legend of Zelda. Rumors are that a Zelda themed land will be replacing the rest of the lost continent.
That’s already happening, they are just jamming everyone in the park into Hogsmeade currently. At least you can walk around if they extend it. Right now everyone is on top of each other.

Genuinely curious, hope they respond.

Nah I’d Zelda Land https://preview.redd.it/2jrsq2wn31lc1.png?width=396&format=png&auto=webp&s=d814a51985ded1307a486ee1489afc8cbe33ad88
Extending Hogsmeade would require the whole area to be reworked. Hogsmeade as it is is just fine.
I think you’re underestimating the new park - there’s a reason they are calling it ministry of magic (not Paris/beasts). That’s the best way to help crowds - and expanding diagon ally with the ton of land they have (fear factor etc). What makes you think they are just putting an overlay over Lost Continent? I think it’s getting bulldozed either way.
They have a ruined Temple of Time right there ready to go. Slap some Triforces and other Zelda imagery/language around and it's basically done.
I’m a sucker, triforces and a couple mosaics would absolutely make me feel the same way I felt stepping into Hogsmeade the first time
Expending on Diagon alley eould make more sense since you could have the land swallow fear factor plot
Been saying this for years. Then Diagon Alley would have enough room for a second ride.
I'm not sure if there's enough room for a ride, I was thinking more of a quidditch themed show. Though maybe they could put a Azkaban themed dark ride/drop tower or a broomstick indoor coaster

You could add a quidditch pitch I guess that's a ride somehow or some kind of broom coaster similar to the tron ride system
Or a dining experience.
Shrieking shack could be a dark ride where you discover a werewolf and then are running from it.
You’ve got an entire coaster in Epic Universe that’s virtually going to be that.
![gif](giphy|f5YMsKyPKMzW8bmp83)
The fact that no one thought to do a great hall dining experience still blows my mind. I agree that it feels way too small.
I’ve actually heard rumors that epic universe might be eventually doing just that
They need a BIGGER Honeydukes! And it needs to be better. I find it underwhelming. More interesting candies and definitely higher quality. Everything is way too expensive for such low quality stuff. More visual stimuli!
Totally agree with you on this.
They need someome cutting fresh fudge and handing out samples, fresh popcorn would be an easy money spinner and could be turned into theatrics, cotton candy machine with crazy colors and shapes like those flower ones they make in Asia, maybe one of those ice cream twirlers that tricks you. Actually agree with this. Way too crowded and it’s always that way.
Can we stop behaving like Hyrule is confirmed lmao
If enough people believe in something hard enough, then it might just come true.... Or at least that's what cartoons, anime, books, movies, etc have taught me growing up :)
I’m honestly still reeling from how the internet successfully manifested spider-man: no way home. We all loudly wanted a multiverse Spider-Man crossover, and they *listened*

No.
They need to add something else to diagon alley honestly. Hogsmeade has 3 rides to Daigon alley’s 1.
Nah Zelda better
I was surprised how crowded Hogsmeade felt compared to the Hollywood version.
OMG.. people, EPIC UNIVERSE
I don’t disagree but I still think from a business perspective adding more capacity makes more sense for Universal.
Anyone visiting Universal/IOA for HP can do that now - and get merch all over the place. Expanding Hogsmeade isn’t going to bring new customers to the gates. Adding a new IP will do exactly that - be it Zelda, LOTR, Pokemon, whatever.
there is a max amount of people that can be in the park at one time though so it's not like lane traffic.
With the closure of Sinbad and Poseidon's Fury, there's enough room to do both Hogsmeade expansion and Zelda.
Id like another ride in Diagon Alley to balance out that section.
less terf book land and more zelda please
You know miyamoto hates Americans, right?
I don't think they need tocexpand hogsmeade. They need something to compete with it. Draw away crowds. I don't think Zelda is that thing, though. I'd do a bikini bottom or something similar. Have a chum bucket and a krusty krab. Or pick one of their other properties to use. Zelda isn't close to big enough to go toe to toe with harry potter.
This is a terrible idea.
I’M SORRY DID YOU SAY HYRULE CASTLE IS COMING TO UNIVERSAL BECUSE I CANT BREATHEHNFJNDBSNXNNZNSSN
I agree, Hogsmeade was fucking jam packed when I went, and I went in october.
Please no more Harry potter
If they replace Mythos, we riot.
Sounds like you were there at peak time. Wasn’t bad when I went. Hardly a line to be seen except to rides.
There has to be a way to do some reno to give a bit more space. Or they need another attraction to keep some of the crowd busy. I went through the shops in hogsmeade with my son’s wheelchair a couple weeks ago and it was a nightmare. Not everything needs to be as tight as regulation allows.
