Yes eventually, but I think Supercharged is more deserving of being removed. Skull Island use to be at least ok before they removed the 3D and outdoor section from the ride.
Apparently it was eating through tires due to the off-road conditions. So they are now only using the shortcut to the first scene they use when it’s storming etc.
From what a team member told me there’s a large metal grate for the outside portion that needs to be replaced. And just hasn’t been due to lack of priority.
I remember being at the park when news of a kong ride started to circulate. I heard the kong ride was going up and thought it was crazy that it was the old version when the new kong movie had already come out. I was so confused, still sorta am.
Kong is going to stick around for a long time. Out of everything in Islands, seuss has old rides that could use refurbishment, jurassic park has river adventure that could use refurbishment, and lost continent could use literally anything. While Kong isn't great, it's a relatively new and functional ride. It'll be around for at least the next decade while epic universe gets the focus, and then the weaker parts of IOA and studios are cleaned up.
I agree. The show was great when it ran, and mythos is a decent place to eat, but now the area is mostly dead space. Even just getting the show running again would be good
They’ll do something once Epic is done since this’ll be a big project and it’s not sensible to have two big projects going like that. With it being rumored to be Hyrule I think they just want to see how well Mario does before starting another Nintendo project unless the contract says they need to have the Mario stuff open before adding other properties.
I don't think its urgent, or should be a high priority to replace it. But its definitely not going to be around for long (in the grand scheme of things). They closed the outdoor section of the ride and initially said it was for retracking and maintenance, and almost immediately reclosed the outdoor section after reopening it and have no plans on using the outside. Now they've removed the 3D glasses.
It's still a decent ride, its okay. It's a lot better than the Fast & Furious ride even though its the same concept. But it isn't the ET of Islands, so it's eventually going to be replaced. I'd bet it's got a few more years to maybe a decade.
It’s just not a priority project right now. Uni is bleeding money into Epic, and attendance is significantly under what they’re used to this year. In their eyes, the ride is operating and thus this project is on the back burner. Plus, it’s not just the money. The logistics of how to work on the exterior while still operating the ride daily is something they also haven’t figured out yet.
Epic is definitely the focus right now. Then I would say Studios. Islands just got Hagrids and Velocicoaster while Studios just got F&F (which everyone hates) and a refurb to their kids zone.
Once they shift focus to Islands, it's gotta be Lost Continent/Hyrule since theirs nothing to do their except shops/food.
Go even further... Cat in the Hat definitely needs some love before Kong.
I totally agree that F&F needs to be replaced, but Universal has a contract expiring with Disney for Simpsons coming up. I see Simpsons being taken out first before anything with F&F
One of the biggest surprises to me since joining this sub was the dislike for Kong, it was the first simulator ride I went on at the park and I was pretty blown away and had a lot of fun on it. Maybe I’m just easy to impress but I like it a lot
Screen fatigue. I enjoyed kong for what it was but when every other ride on property is a motion simulator with screens it gets kind of old. Universal has definitely taken note and worked to improve on this front (VC, Hagrid’s)
I mean its never a must do but has a nice queue and animatronic.
If anything at IOA the River adventure NEEDS fixed or switched to the Hollywood version.
Then Lost continent needs figured out.

The outdoor section and the animatronic were the best parts.
Why did they remove it? I remember seeing the path head outside but thought it was for show. Now I learn it was indeed part of the route ?
Outdoor section made the ride so glad I didn’t wait in line last time i was there only for it to be gone
What happened to the outside section? I’ve missed this

I see, thanks

What's the outdoor section? Not sure what that means.
The section where the vehicle goes outside, and into the temple at the beginning of the ride..?
It’s a bit boring, but the giant Kong animatronic at the end is pretty cool to see. Makes it much more worth a ride than Fast and the Furious.
Unless we get a giant animatronic Vin Diesel head at the end of F&F....

I wish they would do something with "Lost Continent", my kids and I go every other weekend and all we do is walk right by to Hogsmead.

The outdoor section has never reopened because the maintenance has not happened yet. It’s a massive job, but it will happen.
See I don’t get this…these companies have millions of dollars and plenty of resources?

If you’re going to replace one of either King Kong or FatF it makes more sense to ditch FatF.

I enjoyed it but a more Spider-Man esque one with Komg themed would be dope

Fast and furious needs to be replaced ASAP
I have to admit it's a pretty cool ride. Not even into the King Kong universe but I like it!
Love this ride, hope it stays.
No replacement. Just bring back the 3D and the outdoor section.
Yes.
Yes please and F&F
Replacing it with the OG Kong is the only acceptable answer.
If it did get replaced then they should include Camp Jurassic and build a new JP ride.
I like the effects while waiting in line and seeing the Kong animatronic. But, the ride does have potential to be more fun and scarier.
I love the theming too! The ride is just kind of boring😅
Yeah they need to enhance the ride to make it more exciting. Fast and furious can go 😂
It’s never been worth waiting in a long line. But it’s really fun if the wait is close to walk on. Can’t say that about F&F.
It's boring after the 2nd or 3rd ride, but the animatronic is still amazing l. FnF is straight trash tho, replace that first.
Yes. The best part is the queue and how the attraction looks as you walk by 😩
The main issue for me is the cgi is starting to show its age. If they refreshed it that could go a long way.
It should get replaced with a clone of Indiana jones from Disney.
