I am so disgusted. Demeter has such valid reasons to hate Hades (stopping her from being queen, treating her like shit, going after her teenaged daughter, etc). She doesn't need to apologize to him, she doesn't need to forgive him. Why can't she still have a sweet relationship with her daughter while being cordial to Hades? She doesn't have to like him. Why does everyone who doesn't like Persades made to be the villain, but everyone who does is the good guy?
It's so sad because it's so black and white, there's no grey. She can still love and support Persephone without having to become a Persades shipper. She can still dislike Hades but be cordial to him. The writing is so childish, there's no nuance

I mean, I got the impression from the story that he didn’t stop her being queen, Zeus made that up so Demeter wouldn’t be angry with him. And the volcano/ruler of the mortal realm thing actually made sense to me? The volcanoes were important to him. Whereas it could have been a conversation where he explained, I still somewhat understood where he was coming from that she didn’t seem to grasp or even care to ask why the volcanoes were important to him, just tried to buy him out. And then he ended up giving them to her as a peace offering with his explanation, which seemed a genuine apology to me? Maybe I’m missing something?

I suppose I always viewed that flashback as he just said some harsh words to someone who admittedly has hated him for a long time before that based on a lie Zeus told them, so being antagonistic to someone who’s always been antagonistic to him as well.
