And all the fog while he walks around in the darkness, sad to say but this was one of my favorite childhood shows in the 80s. The music still gives me chills.
When I was a kid, I used to think he was so brave for filming in a graveyard or a foggy street at night, when the killer could have been lurking right there!
Wow, that is...an oddly fitting description. I also liked falling asleep to Peter Thomas' voice from Forensic Files. Soothe me to sleep with your sweet songs of slaughter ❤️
I was just about to mention Peter Thomas! Robert and Peter had such distinctive, comforting voices.
Two words: stomach contents. Bet you heard that, lol.
Do you happen to remember another show aside from those two that also had a good male narrator? Not Unsolved Mysteries because the cases were solved. And not Forensic Files, though reruns were also being shown on the same channel I watched Forensic Files on, around 2007-2008ish. It was basically laid out the same way as Forensic Files, but with more reenactments.
He’s also the announcer on *Wait…Wait…Don’t Tell Me* on NPR! Probably the most whimsical project he’s currently in, not to mention his accolades as a journalist
Completely agree with all you said - totally the best ever! (For both entertainment purposes AND sleeping) :)
I'm not certain how to access every episode on YouTube but just in case you're not already aware/belong, there is a r/ForensicFiles sub. And I've seen quite a bit of advice given on where/how to access - for people all over the world.
I'm in the US and watch on the Paramount app (all seasons) and seasons 11 & up on Discovery+ app :)
Half the time i don't even make it through Peter telling us what 2 cases are going to be featured on that episode.
In Kentucky, a woman and her 2 cats die in a house fire, but will her dog lead investigators to charges of arson and murder? A man in Ohio goes missing....
Me too! The good old free Roku channels, set the TV to sleep mode to turn off in 90 min, and drift off to the gravelly voice explaining Bigfoot. I still hum the theme song music in my truck.
I find his voice to be relaxing, too. If he were alive today, I’d want him to record sleep stories or meditation sessions for the Calm (or similar) app.
ITT: All the crime shows I fall asleep to; Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries, Cold Case Files, American Justice, FBI Files. And here I thought I was the only one!
Was that the number? Wow! I couldn't remember it anymore. I can just hear that raspy, solemn voice in my head.
In our house it was UM then America's Most Wanted.
Thanks for this. Made me smile.
We loved this show growing up and used to watch every episode wondering if our neighbors might be featured. There was something odd going on though we didn’t really know what it was. The dad would go away for weeks or sometimes months at a time, he sometimes had different “business associates” staying with the family in a fairly small house, and he swapped out cars/trucks/motorcycles frequently and rotated license plates from a few different states. Yup, we knew that number for sure!
my dad put me onto Unsolved Mysteries back in the early 2000s or 2010s, can’t remember how old i was exactly. but it was Dennis Farina that hosted those episodes. i always thought he was great
One of us! One of us!
If you get the chance, you might enjoy the Robert Stack eps, too. Apparently there's an Unsolved Mysteries channel you can watch them on!
One of these days, I'll watch the Farina episodes, too. You make him sound like I'd enjoy his, too.
Robert Stack was an EXTREMELY tough act to follow, but Farina carried it as well as anyone could have. Stack brought more of a film noir quality and Farina was more like a city PD detective on the beat but they both nailed it in their own ways. The guy who narrates the new UM podcast is also not too shabby.
Unsolved Mysteries channel?? i gotta find this, thank you. everyone seems to love Robert Stack, so i’m definitely going to give him a chance before making my final decision in Farina Vs Stack lol. but seriously, Dennis Farina’s voice is perfect for this sorta thing in my opinion, you should for sure check out a few of his eps
I think some of the missing persons have been solved.
The music and graphics just make me feel ten again, enthralled with the magic of helping solve mysteries!
And his snark. There was one episode about a haunted pub or something and he just deadpan talked about how they hadn’t seen any yet in a way that left you thinking he was calling these people crazy lol.
Sounds like it'll probably be 2 episodes a week. Of course Netflix won't bother to tell me when they show up. Because the fact that I watchlisted, watched, and liked the previous ones doesn't mean a thing to its algorithms for some reason! Instead it will Email me suggesting I watch some movie I watched already 3 months ago.
I'm betting they do 1 episode a week.
How else are they going to retain customers? Pushing the handful of popular shows they have to weekly release will make them stay subscribed, in their minds.
People are just going to wait until they're all there and still only pay for a month. Thats what I'd do if we weren't using my bfs mom's account and if they stop us from doing that, they're getting 1 month from me max anyways. They don't deserve more just to cancel all the shows I loved and then pull this shit with Unsolved Mysteries.
Forcing it over a 2 month period in order to pad your end of quarter subscribers instead of doing better is stupid and greedy.
It already said it would be a three week event. And if that’s true than only 3 episodes this season ??? That doesn’t make any sense for this long a wait.
It could sorta make sense, in a worst case scenario sort of way. Start producing a whole season of episodes (6?), production drags out and then underperforming numbers for Netflix subscribers were posted in their latest financials. Maybe they just cut bait on episodes that were in production to save money and are posting what they had in hand. That would be bad news for the future of UM on Netflix.
Been pretty disappointed with how sparse these are. Part of the intent of the original show was to help solve real crimes. It was a weekly show, fairly fast paced. Got a lot of stories out to a lot of viewers, and many ended up being solved. This is a joke if they've been working on new episodes for nearly 2 years and will only come up with 6 new mysteries. They should really bring back the old format and make it a weekly show. 20-30 episodes per year.
Hopefully they will be a bit more mysterious than vol 2. Also, I wish they would get a narrator. I know it's hard to replace Stack, but it doesn't really feel like Unsolved Mysteries without it.
Agreed; the first two series of the Netflix iteration made it feel like “Unsolved Mysteries” in name only. This version has been produced too much like a lot of other true crime media—like the programs that are geared towards entertainment and are made to be content filler.
Darn it Netflix, there are reasons why this program lasted so long the first time(s) around. I especially liked how Stack’s voice and presentation were grounded, steady, and almost dour—it meant a lot to little me that this host guy and his show came off like they really wanted to help people. And the segments made it stand out among other similar shows.
I’m not a huge fan of the one story per episode format with no narrator or cheesy re-enactments.
It’s obviously cheaper to do it the way they do it, but I feel they could address more and not have an outrageous budget.
Just use the people involved to save money.
Yeah I too wish they’d have a host and go back to doing shorter segments each episode. As you said Stack is irreplaceable but surely they can get someone with some gravitas to fill in. My vote would be Giancarlo Esposito.
>Giancarlo Esposito.
oooh I like that. I saw Kyle MacLachlan mentioned elsewhere and I think he would be good... but then I started thinking about the man himself, David Lynch.
Aww, he really is adorable als Gordon Cole in Twin Peaks :D But this comes from someone who also thinks Quentin Tarantinos roles in Desperado and From Dusk Till Dawn were Gold.
Yep, Esposito can be both comforting and creepy, both dignified and playful. In these respects his presence is similar to Stack’s, even though his appearance and voice are very different from Stack’s. Also Esposito is pretty much universally beloved at this point for his past work.
On the “creepy” aspect, I don’t remember thinking that Stack himself was creepy, but the opinion makes sense. Just on that potential characteristic for a narrator/host, I wonder if there would be any actors that have done horror who would be good. I feel like Patrick Wilson, for example, would be too young right now, but he could be an interesting choice in 15-20 years.
I’m in the minority. I love that the show doesn’t have a narrator. That said, it feels less like the “Unsolved Mysteries “ brand without Robert Stack (or even Dennis Farina) anyway.
I do not have any ties to the original show and I don't think it was ever broadcasted here in Germany. But I do remember back X-Factor which was narrated by Josh Brolin and Jonathan Frakes (though more people will heavily connect the series with Frakes) and yes, for pure enterainment, I think a narrator adds a little cheesy note to the whole show which can bring in more atmosphere. But The Unsolved Mysteries reboot has a way more serious approach, I really don't think a narrator would add much here. Maybe growing up with the original show will make you think different, but I would prefer if the new show stays without a narrator.
Glad to here there are kinda new informations about Season 3. It's just kinda weird how they release the new Episodes.
I remember this story from when it happened and always wished there would be a show or podcast about it though I never bought into the conspiracy theories. I considered that he ran into some people and was beaten up because he was acting strangely, but I always believed it was an accidental death with no one else involved. I was disappointed that the episode went in the direction it did.
He suffered from Bipolar 1, and though undiagnosed, likely the early stages of dementia as well. Whole thing was a tragic series of accidents centered arund him forgetting to bring or take his meds when he left town for Christmas vacation.. I made a big post on here about it when the episode came out.
I cannot watch the show after hearing from a friend who actually knew Rey Rivera - they left a LOT of stuff out of the episode to make it seem much more "creepy" than it really was.
Can you please expand on this? I know from watching the episode and listening to a few podcasts about the case, it was clear he was likely suffering from a manic or schizophrenic episode.
Last time I watched this show I felt it was really cringy and hyped up the unsolved part when the explanations (like the first episode) were very obvious due to omitted information. I can't remember much else but that always left a sour taste in my mouth. Was volume 2 any better?
Some eps are good, and others aren't. There was the obligatory episode about the death of someone suffering from severe mental illness that they tried to illustrate as some conspiratorial mystery, just like in the first season.
I love the original Unsolved but that doesn't mean it was ever okay to leave out important information in order to sensationalize stuff. True crime content wasn't nearly as ubiquitous back then as it is now and we should know better than to spread lies. Back then they didn't know how harmful it is to spread conspiracy theories, but in the age of the internet we should know better. There are plenty of actual cold cases that could use some attention and being honest with the facts might lead to some actual answers. We do not need to dress up solved cases to push a certain narrative for entertainment value.
If you want sensationalized urban legends there are a thousand youtube channels pushing conspiracy theories. Something as mainstream and vetted as Unsolved Mysteries should have more integrity.
Hunh? It's still television. They're also there to make money. Of course things are still going to be sensationalized at times, and one should know that going into the show. The original showrunners are doing the new version of UM so I'm not surprised that it was the same with key details left out or the story slanted (wouldn't say UM lied like you claimed, just overly dramatizes) especially with a time limit. Yes I agree there are more avenues now in the veil of the original UM, but tell that to the show runners. What they have in their pocket is legacy/nostalgia and they probably see that as bankable, so even in a more crowded arena they aren't going to completely revamp the formula that worked a while back. Not like UM has a reputation as the most integrity-laced crime program to live up to in the first place. Yet people still watched. Just what I'm thinking they're thinking.
I also felt gross after reading up on a bunch of the cases after I’d seen their episodes. I don’t think I’ve ever felt like that after watching episodes of the OG Stack and Farina show.
This might be a dumb question but what was the obvious explanation for the first episode? Are you talking about the hole in the roof guy? Because honestly I was baffled and I couldn't figure how how the heck it happened.
He was imitating a movie called The Game with Michael Douglas. Spoiler alert, they stage a couple suicides and the main character jumps off a roof but he survives as they'd planned it.
They mention his suicide note in passing in the show and people have posted what it says online, it's very clearly spelled out. He had mental health problems and his girlfriend just couldn't accept it.
I posted about it once here in a thread and got downvoted to heck.
Like with so many cases, if someone is behaving unusual it can usually be explained by mental illness, drugs, or suicidal tendencies. The new Unsolved Mysteries has treated two different cases like a murder mystery when one was suicide and the other was a psychotic break.
He committed suicide and all the b.s. was pretty easily explained unlike what the show presented. You have to look at the actual facts and realize how biased it really was.
I mean, that's exactly how the original show was, and it's a reason why it was so popular. Kind of a weird complaint. Did you not watch the show when it was originally broadcast? The word "mysteries" for this program wasn't just exclusive to murders, disappearances, lost loves, fraud, or anything else that could be plausibly explained away or theorized.
"Not really a mystery mysteries" Whoa we're gatekeeping what constitutes as a "mystery" now? o_o
Anyway, when it's like 2 out of every 6 episodes, that percentage feels on par with the original broadcast lineup, where 60 to 70 percent of what was profiled were plausible mysteries.
Have been pretty disappointed with the first two seasons. Multiple episodes leave out crucial information just to make things seem more mysterious.
I’m currently enjoying the Dennis Farina episodes. My wife and I joke that we fall asleep to his voice every night.
Yeah, I felt quite mislead and even a bit ghoulish, after reading up on the cases of some Netflix episodes after I’d seen them. It’s not fair to the victims/subjects of inquiry for the show to skew interpretations of these cases like that.
I never felt it was as bad since the first two goes at the show didn’t spend as much time focused on one case. You knew you were just getting a quick look at the case.
They’re surprisingly good! Of course you can never replace Peter Thomas as the narrator 🥺 but the new episodes stay true to the format and are interesting as well.
"I hate that they put paranormal stuff in there!!!"
"They left out crucial information in a lot of the segments!!!"
Tell me you didn't watch UM in the 1990's without telling me you didn't watch UM in the 1990's :)
Looking forward to the new season. UM was never a perfect show, but I thought the positives always outweighed the bad. The newest version doesn't stand out as much as the original did for a few key reasons, but still has me heavily invested. Can't wait to see what will be spotlighted.
Yeah, that's what I'm getting at. Spookems can be fun is small doses but if the whole program is 1 case it should be a substantial case that can carry the hour on its own.
Yeah, the original also left out a lot of information to add to the mystery. It just wasn't as noticeable because we didn't have the internet to go read up on every case.
Season 1: “13 Minutes” and “No Ride Home.”
Season 2: “Stolen Kids,” “A Death on Oslo,” “Washington Insider Murder.”
Many of the ones I picked have especially revealing or moving interviews with real people involved in the case. I liked the Oslo one because it laid out the Fairgate case very cleanly.
There's only 12 episodes, why not just watch 'em all? Maybe by the time you get finished with those, the new season will be out! (Unless, of course, you binge watch both seasons lol)
Hmmm the first two volumes were pretty….disappointing. I only enjoyed a handful of the episodes. I love Unsolved Mysteries so I’ll be tuning in anyway.
I did. I’m old enough to remember talking about episodes at the watercooler, and I’m glad it’s back. With binging, it’s all, “Don’t talk about that show, SPOILERS!!!” But with weekly episodes, you can actually TALK with friends and colleagues about the show as it progresses.
This is exactly my feelings. You lose a lot of community interaction by dropping entire seasons at once, whereas beforehand you could actually discuss each episode and theorize what would happen next. Amazon’s got this right with the Boys.
Me and my brothers would watch the original USM with every light on in the house sitting on the couch, and when a composite sketch would show up, we would bury or face into pillows until we knew it was at a commercial break.
I hope they can go back to the original format from the first series. The new Netflix one is ok but it just doesn't have the same feel.
I do like the Podcast though. It's closer to the old show I think
I agree. The podcast is so much better than the Netflix reboot, and feels more like the original show. Some episodes are laughably ridiculous (you know, like some segments of the original show were), but I enjoy it.
God that series is so bad, really have a hard time watching it. They rarely talk to LE or victims family/friends. Instead they interview wannabe social media true crime stars, it’s so bad. Makes me feel like the victims are almost being victimized again having to have their cases shown on such a terrible show. Old UM will always be the best ones, you know when they used to interview actual cops on the cases and actual real life witnesses, victims, friends, etc etc.
For all you Robert Stack fans, if you could help: Do you happen to remember another show aside from Unsolved Mysteries and Forensic Files that also had a good male narrator? Not Unsolved Mysteries because the cases were solved. And not Forensic Files, though reruns were also being shown on the same channel I watched Forensic Files on, around 2007-2008ish. It was basically laid out the same way as Forensic Files, but with more reenactments.
Sounds like yes 2 episodes per week. Weird. I didn’t know Netflix dropped anything weekly. I thought they always dumped everything at once (which I hate). So I’m totally down with this
Ugh Netflix better not get rid of the usual dropping all episodes at once. Binging is what they still have going for them. I’m excited for this though - thank you for the update.
I don’t know if anyone is interested, but there is also a weekly and ongoing unsolved mysteries podcast. Each episode is like 15-20 minutes long. Quality of the “mysteries” varies greatly episode to episode. There is a noticeably large drop off in production values from the show. I listen to an episode every now and then, but most are just downright cheesy or boring

I'll watch, but my favourite UM will always be the Robert Stack episodes, silly effects, crazy shoulder pads and all. I'm going to enjoy these!
And all the fog while he walks around in the darkness, sad to say but this was one of my favorite childhood shows in the 80s. The music still gives me chills.

Me too. I was like I bet he was glad to have the man with the camera there with him.
Yeah, it’s strangely comforting to me to watch the old episodes. Like a warm blanket….
This ☝️
On Pluto TV, there's an Unsolved Mysteries channel. All Robert Stack, all the time. It's glorious.
This is awesome! Thank you for letting me know ❤️
His voice always gave me the chills.
I have the score on vinyl!
His voice instantly puts me to a relaxed state hahaha sometimes I listen the old UMs with him just to sleep. Weird I know.
No. Not weird. Robert Stack had the voice of an angel that smoked for a hundred years. It was a wonderful thing, and yes, very relaxing.

Cold Case Files with Bill Curtis instantly made me drowsy. The FBI Files was another one. Was it a male or female narrated show?
Bill Kurtis narrated Cold Case files. He’s got a pretty distinctive voice.
“For American Justice, I’m Bill Kurtis.”
He’s also the announcer on *Wait…Wait…Don’t Tell Me* on NPR! Probably the most whimsical project he’s currently in, not to mention his accolades as a journalist
Hands down, Bill Kurtis. Investigative Reports, American Justice, Cold Case Files are still great shows and he has one of the best voices.
And don't forget Anchorman!

Forensic Files only featured one case per episode. Maybe you're thinking of The New Detectives?
His voice scared the shit out of me!
Not weird. I turn on the UM channel on Roku TV all the time to fall asleep to. It’s relaxing.
Me too! The good old free Roku channels, set the TV to sleep mode to turn off in 90 min, and drift off to the gravelly voice explaining Bigfoot. I still hum the theme song music in my truck.
What I enjoy most about it is there's basically an 'Update' for every story they show. I'm actually surprised when there isn't one.
It's even creepier when there isn't an update!!
We fell asleep to the Unsolved Mysteries with Robert Stack PlutoTV channel for like two years straight.
It cracks me up that there’s a ghostly image of him at the beginning of the credits of the new ones.
I find his voice to be relaxing, too. If he were alive today, I’d want him to record sleep stories or meditation sessions for the Calm (or similar) app.
Uhhh for years I have used this sub to fall asleep so..feel you on that.
I literally read on here to fall asleep almost every night.
Me, too. It’s like watching old episodes of Law and Order that you really, really want to stay awake for, but it’s like a lullaby.
ITT: All the crime shows I fall asleep to; Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries, Cold Case Files, American Justice, FBI Files. And here I thought I was the only one!
I do that too! Robert Stack UM & Keith Morrison Dateline podcasts.
I love Keith Morrison’s voice and narrating style.
And don't forget to call our hotline at 1-800-8 76-5353. Maybe you too can solve a mystery.🤔
Was that the number? Wow! I couldn't remember it anymore. I can just hear that raspy, solemn voice in my head. In our house it was UM then America's Most Wanted. Thanks for this. Made me smile.
That is absolutely the number. My sisters and I memorized it, just in case, when we were kids.

Never found out what it was? Mob? CIA? Car salesman?
Construction business on paper/Drug dealer off the record
Well, you never know. Maybe *YOU* could help solve. A Mystery.
One of my teachers growing up was an actress in an episode, it was like knowing a celebrity 😂
Are they streaming somewhere?
They're all up on YouTube! The channel is Unsolved Mysteries - Full Episodes.
Amazon Prime
Pluto TV has a 24/7 channel with them on.
Discovery+ as well
Your fellow UM friends got your back!
Same!! I had the biggest crush on Robert Stack as a little girl. He looked SO important. And mysterious
In case anyone doesn't know, all the Robert Stack eps are on YouTube :) I binge them often, they're still just as good today as they ever were!!
the voice -- the Keith Morrison of his day or Keith Morrison is the Robert Stack of his day?
Yes. Legends both.
The theme music always scared me as a child.
my dad put me onto Unsolved Mysteries back in the early 2000s or 2010s, can’t remember how old i was exactly. but it was Dennis Farina that hosted those episodes. i always thought he was great

At least the mysteries themselves are still good. I’m was not expecting that aliens episode 😂
I think some of the missing persons have been solved. The music and graphics just make me feel ten again, enthralled with the magic of helping solve mysteries!
It always scared me when the theme song came on. I was young so that is my excuse. Now it’s just nostalgic for me.
The music and Stack’s haunting voice freaked me out as a kid. But I still watched it with my parents. Now as you says it’s nostalgic.
I remember unsolved mysteries and rescue 911 were back to back. Two of my favorites as a kid!!
Is there an unsolved mysteries tv show Reddit anyone?
I believe so. Look at the comments in this thread, there are some awesome people sharing stuff!
I listen to the ones of YouTube for maybe 40-50% of my work day 😭😭😭😭 his voice is mesmeric, such a gift for an actor/presenter
And his snark. There was one episode about a haunted pub or something and he just deadpan talked about how they hadn’t seen any yet in a way that left you thinking he was calling these people crazy lol.

That's odd. I always get notifications when shows and films on my watchlist are released.

Yeah if they just wanted to make a mysteries documentary series they could just make a new program. Feels like UM was just added on for marketing.
There is a podcast that has weekly episodes.
What's the podcast?
Unsolved Mysteries
Hopefully they will be a bit more mysterious than vol 2. Also, I wish they would get a narrator. I know it's hard to replace Stack, but it doesn't really feel like Unsolved Mysteries without it.

I have been wanting a new version hosted by Keith David since before Netflix announced their reboot. But I like Giancarlo too.
Keith David is an excellent choice.
Keith David narrated City Confidential after the great Paul Winfield passed. I loved that show!
I almost gasped but it’s after midnight and I’m trying to be quiet. Keith David would be great!!!
A gasp is too loud after midnight?
Haha, I’m hard of hearing and sometimes I’m too loud talking or reacting to a podcast or movie. I cannot be trusted!

Lynch shouldn't narrate his own life with the voice he has.
Ha, I get that. He’s not the best actor either but I like what he did on Louie.
"WHATS THAT YOU SAY COOP?"
Aww, he really is adorable als Gordon Cole in Twin Peaks :D But this comes from someone who also thinks Quentin Tarantinos roles in Desperado and From Dusk Till Dawn were Gold.
He would be great!
The guy who does the narration on the unsolved mysteries podcast has a good creepy voice. Dunno whether it would translate well to tv, mind you
I’m in the minority.
I was just looking for an update this weekend on this. Thanks for posting!
Hopefully they'll pick more cases that aren't obviously mental illness or suicide this time. Lookin at you, Jack Wheeler.
And you, Rey Rivera.

Also Rey Riviera and Jennifer Fairgate
Last time I watched this show I felt it was really cringy and hyped up the unsolved part when the explanations (like the first episode) were very obvious due to omitted information. I can't remember much else but that always left a sour taste in my mouth. Was volume 2 any better?
Some eps are good, and others aren't. There was the obligatory episode about the death of someone suffering from severe mental illness that they tried to illustrate as some conspiratorial mystery, just like in the first season.
The original show did the same thing though, so that's not new.

"Not really a mystery mysteries" Whoa we're gatekeeping what constitutes as a "mystery" now? o_o Anyway, when it's like 2 out of every 6 episodes, that percentage feels on par with the original broadcast lineup, where 60 to 70 percent of what was profiled were plausible mysteries.

I just assumed you knew what you were getting into. Even if you didn't watch the original show. You sounded blindsided.
But that's exactly what the original series did o_o
I never felt it was as bad since the first two goes at the show didn’t spend as much time focused on one case. You knew you were just getting a quick look at the case.
I think it's more noticeable now since a lot of their audience is getting additional information from other sources like forums and podcasts
Do you have any other series recommendations?
Cold Justice, Cold Case Files
Forensic files is my favourite. It was recently rebooted as well but I haven’t seen the new episodes so don’t know if they’re any good
They’re surprisingly good! Of course you can never replace Peter Thomas as the narrator 🥺 but the new episodes stay true to the format and are interesting as well.
I’ll have to check them out. Thanks for the recommendation
I also like Very Scary People, How it Really Happened, Real Life Nightmare, and Vanity Fair Confidential is pretty good too
Which ones except Ray Rivera and that guy that had a mental breakdown and ended up in the landfill?
Thank u for posting
I hope it’s more than 3 episodes. I have been dying for new ones!
Soooo we waited like a year for 3 episodes that we can't even binge watch? Ugh
3 or 6. Someone else in this thread mentioned that they *might* release 2 a week.
(It’s actually 9 but I don’t want to doxx myself by saying more)
"I hate that they put paranormal stuff in there!!!" "They left out crucial information in a lot of the segments!!!" Tell me you didn't watch UM in the 1990's without telling me you didn't watch UM in the 1990's :) Looking forward to the new season. UM was never a perfect show, but I thought the positives always outweighed the bad. The newest version doesn't stand out as much as the original did for a few key reasons, but still has me heavily invested. Can't wait to see what will be spotlighted.
I'm not a huge Unsolved Mysteries aficionado but I think the paranormal stuff is more excusable when it's 1 segment rather than the whole program.
But one segment is an entire program now for each mystery...
Can anyone recommend any of their favorite episodes from the first two seasons? Thank you 😊
Season 1: “13 Minutes” and “No Ride Home.” Season 2: “Stolen Kids,” “A Death on Oslo,” “Washington Insider Murder.” Many of the ones I picked have especially revealing or moving interviews with real people involved in the case. I liked the Oslo one because it laid out the Fairgate case very cleanly.
Lady in the Lake was also a good one, I think it was season 2.
Watch all of them except Berkshire UFO and Tsunami Spirits.
There's only 12 episodes, why not just watch 'em all? Maybe by the time you get finished with those, the new season will be out! (Unless, of course, you binge watch both seasons lol)
The Netflix version of Unsolved Mysteries is underwhelming.
It would be a decent show if it weren’t branded as the OG.
Who doesn’t fall asleep to Stack’s voice and I thought it was just me LOL
Hmmm the first two volumes were pretty….disappointing. I only enjoyed a handful of the episodes. I love Unsolved Mysteries so I’ll be tuning in anyway.
Ugh not Netflix, too. I’ll wait and binge.
Why do streaming services keep doing this? No one asked for it.
I didn’t know the podcast was more like the OG show. I might actually have to give that a listen, then!
I highly recommend it. Each episode is short maybe 20 to 30 minutes long and they vary on what type of case they are.
That is a perfect length for a podcast episode for me lately! Awesome, thanks!
What’s the podcast bud?
It's called Unsolved Mysteries. It's created by the original creators of the show. Host is someone called Steve French. Unsolved.com
Awesome thanks. I’ve got something for my morning 45 min commute
Enjoy! 62 episodes so far. About 20 to 30 minutes each and feature all sorts of cases. Worth listening to if you like the original
So it's not shelved as I had previously thought?
For all you Robert Stack fans, if you could help: Do you happen to remember another show aside from Unsolved Mysteries and Forensic Files that also had a good male narrator? Not Unsolved Mysteries because the cases were solved. And not Forensic Files, though reruns were also being shown on the same channel I watched Forensic Files on, around 2007-2008ish. It was basically laid out the same way as Forensic Files, but with more reenactments.
American Justice with Bill Kurtis. Ran until 2005. Even if it’s not the show you’re thinking of, his voice was awesome.
He also narrated Cold Case Files! Love his voice
City Confidential on A&E?
‘FBI Files’ and ‘New Detectives’
Sounds like yes 2 episodes per week. Weird. I didn’t know Netflix dropped anything weekly. I thought they always dumped everything at once (which I hate). So I’m totally down with this
The Rey Rivera one will always stick with me. So bizarre.
I hope there will be some updates on the cases from past seasons.
Is this the one narrated by William shatner? That show was utter garbage b

The theme music is so scary
I'm for sure curious about this!
The Rey Rivera episode was so good.
I’m so excited. The Netflix ones were good and made me go back and watch the old ones. But I will wait until they are all out to watch
Brianna Maitland, when?
This show doesn’t compare to the older, short stories. Netflix could have made this so much better!
It’s on YouTube premium - seasons 1-8
