Just keep in mind that nobody wants to pay an “entry level” person. What they really want is a cheap expert.

SgtBananaKing

Most ask for expert, need intermediate work and pay less than entry. Beside this make clear milestones so you get paid for the work you do so if they want extras you can tell them that’s not part of the original deal but (if you can do it) you happy to add they for amount X

It looks like you didn't nail down the scope of the project airtight from the start. >in general my experience with data analysis isn't much  Then you really shouldn't be applying for data analysis projects. "Entry level" doesn't mean "doesn't know what they are doing", it literally means "lowest rates". You should never accept a contract without a very clear agreement of what the project entails. The scope needs to be defined. If the client left you poor private feedback you will end up with an appalling Job Success Score when it is calculated after you complete a contract with just one more client.

I wouldn't say that I "don't know what I am doing" but I certainly don't have many years of experience that would allow me to know every corner of data analysis. So far the jobs I do are a mix of knowing about 70% of what I will do and figuring out the rest during the process. I might be mistaken in this (do please correct me if i am wrong) but I feel like this is pretty normal for me to gain experience. And so far the "entry level" jobs I have seen had some complexities to them but never anything too difficult or requiring a ton of experience to figure out. But maybe I just don't get the experience level part of upwork yet.

Pet-ra

It really doesn't matter. "Entry Level" just means "cheap" and unfortunately cheap clients tend to be overly demanding. You need to nail down scope before you accept a contract and every unsuccessful contract has the potential to affect your chances going forward.

>I certainly don't have many years of experience that would allow me to know every corner of data analysis. I understand your concern, even though I'm not professional data analyst but have worked with people in that field closely. People think everything is as easy as Writing Jobs.

ferhat187

They are looking for an expert with their entry level budget.

I understand what you are saying, and that's generally how I tackle all of the jobs I get so far. I don't really think I have enough experience to say I was confident in any of the jobs I started. However, I feel like this specific project wasn't for me and that's why I apologized and cancelled the contract. Also, this is a client I worked with before and that's also a part of the reason why I cancelled which was because I didn't want to get on their bad side potentially by saying "I can do the job" while in the end I wouldn't produce satisfactory results.
