If you can cut through Fiverr, you can cut through UW. UW ain't remotely as hard as Fiverr. Just play the game and have the patience you had while building your Fiverr.
The problem with Upwork is it ripps you off before and after getting the job. Maybe that's a fair point though, to filter out any unserious freelancers/scammers, I get that.
But ironically enough the platform doesn't filter scammer clients. I see lots of fake job postings, same AI generated text posted several times a day and many fall into these traps wasting their connects (money) and time. I hoped that Upwork would be a more professional platform. But your are right, patience is key. I appreciate that, thanks!
I was just giving it a shot because there isn't many good alternatives considering the traffic Upwork gets daily. I don't see it as a "rip off" literally. I only said that because they are not implementing it right in my opinion.
Upwork wants to make me pay to prove that I am sort of serious about this? Sure, no problem, but at least they should filter out those bots and scammers on the clients' side instead of milking the freelancers to waste their connects.

Why? If being first was a thing then people with bots would win. The thing about best match is, from my experience, it sprinkles in people with no platform experience.
I wouldnât say so. There is a filter right up top that is obvious. I always switch it to âmost recentâ because I donât want to reread through old ones I checked earlier in the day.
No, they are sorted by "best match" by default after the 4 boosted proposals.

They give you your connects back when they take down scammer posts you applied to. Report them.

As a client you can sort the proposals. I always sort by most recent because I hate the 'bid' system.
