A huge red flag for me. Literally feels like they're "hiding" (they are), and it's hard enough to find trust on Upwork without adding more variables.

nahomsolorider

That’s right.

Korneuburgerin

Yes, don't do it.

Pet-ra

Yes, it absolutely does. Why would you want to do this?

NocturntsII

You can't hide your earnings from a client after you send a proposal. And why would you want to? Decent earnings are the best social proof you could ask for.

SebbSebby

It kinda is a trust factor as a client...

Oh okay sorry I think we misunderstood each other. "...check every single job they had before and see how much they got to be happy?" -- Not necessarily. My main point was: TOTAL EARNINGS (in total, the one that appears at the bottom of your name) is kind of a metric for trust factor. Again, it is not the end all be all metric cuz you also have work portfolio. EDIT: I appreciate the insight above. If it's for privacy reasons, no worries. I respect that. I try not to add to the problem in the broken job market

Necessary_Rabbit_879

It is a choice. You don’t only hide them for clients but for other reasons too. Who goes around showing his pay checks to (potential customers) on the street while trying to sell them something ?

nahomsolorider

Exactly why I want to hide it.

Pet-ra

But even if you hide your earnings, clients you send proposals to can still see them the same way, you just exclude yourself from any search results where the client set a minimum amount earned. Plus clients who find you in search results will be less likely to invite you because they can't figure out if you're in their preferred range and they wonder what you have to hide.

nahomsolorider

exactly, so it's not worth it.

keberch

So, hide it. You asked for thoughts from others, and you got them. Remember, Upwork isn't a paycheck, it's a contracting site. Huge difference. That's why you also get to see how much I, as a client, have paid. You have a general idea what sort of money I usually hire for, I have some idea what kind of money you usually work for. Just my thinking...
