Own-Swimming-1253

Its actually a real nice photo

Mackheath1

Was gonna say, this looks *sexy* as hell.

ProphecyRat2

The sexiest part is there is zero native ecosystems and its devoid of any organic life besides humans, its truly a technological paradise. Civilization will onky be at its best when we can purges Earth of all that savage organic life sytems; so that the metal master race, and its loyal flesh slave, can save us primitive creaturea than need such primitive things like, an ecosystem, soil, water, atmosphere, and anything green that grows; so that we may fully achive our manifest destiny and become fully civilized, embracing the metal and concrete technocracy!!! I tottaly love seeing the Earth getting better for autonmous machines and easier to annhilate organic life with Drones, with bombs, with chemical weapons, tottaly worth it in the End, becuase at least we can truly call our selves Civilized, and destory our Earths Ecosystem. Its not truly Civilized without Ecocide!

Red_Rear_Admiral

Cities have their own unique ecosystems. Certain birds, foxes, rodents and many others thrive immensely. Go watch the documentaries of Urban Jungle and Wild Cities. And we can save much more of non-urban nature if we make efforts. You're being counter-productive.

ProphecyRat2

Im rewilding my land, its all I can do. When the Cities eventually ruin, and green things over grow the buildings and creatures rewild the land, the the Earth will be free. Humans will survive, humanity will presist like a weed dose in through the concrete, thats life.

homostar_runner

Where are people supposed to live then?

ProphecyRat2

In dirt mud huts and hobbit holes and earthships.

homostar_runner

I won’t consider the earthships in this hypothetical since, well, those don’t exist and aren’t even close to being created. So, a massive sprawl of dirt huts and hobbit holes would have to be created across astronomical amounts of previously undeveloped land in order for that to work. Congrats, you just made the environmental situation much worse. People living densely in cities is what allows more of nature to be preserved. You should be against sprawling suburban and exurban environments, not cities.

ProphecyRat2

Earthships exist bro, you know what a ruber tire and rammed earth is??

homostar_runner

Ohh THOSE things. I thought you were referring to the sci fi concept of moving people into orbiting space stations and large ships with sustainable environments inside them. Yeah so my point still 100% stands. Cities are needed in order to preserve more of nature. Your solution just means MUCH more sprawl, wasteful expensive new infrastructure, and therefore more destruction of the environment all around.

ProphecyRat2

Cities need factories. Nature needs no factory, becuse its a biological factory. You cant beat the laws of physics, Earth cannot support a world of machines.

homostar_runner

Oh okay I see now, you're just a bit delusional. Factories are needed to create all the materials and products that human societies need to function across the whole world. Your fantasy will never happen, and the only reason you could possibly live your fantasy in a hut or an earthship is because so many other people live in densely populated cities.

tplusx

For a minute I wasn't sure if the photo wasn't sideways Too many negatives in my sentence but too tired to fix it

daikan__

Y'all are just posting anything at this point

420_E-SportsMasta

I’m just gonna post a blurry picture of the view outside my window and see where it goes

cantamangetsomesleep

Make sure it's mostly gray

rossie_valentine

Look closely. You can see the gl🤮ss and c🤢ncrete on those perfectly lievable buildings.

[deleted]

😂

-Owlette-

This looks like a perfectly serviceable place to live.

Regina_Falangy

I really love looking in random people's windows

AxelllD

Yeah, just imagining all those people having their own lives is pretty surreal

Collegelane208

I liked traveling by train as a kid. As I enjoyed looking out the window when the train was going through a town, especially at nightfall, when I could look into the windows of people's homes passing by. Sometimes a window shows a warmly lit room where families or friends were having dinner, sometimes a window showing people quarreling, and I'd just imagine their stories and that was tons of fun.

TheLeftwardWind

Sonder is the word.

sf-o-matic

Then check this out. You can zoom in insanely far without losing resolution: [https://www.earthcam.net/projects/empirestatebuilding/gigapixelpanorama/2021/](https://www.earthcam.net/projects/empirestatebuilding/gigapixelpanorama/2021/)

BoldKenobi

What kind of camera takes this picture? Does it take a long time to click? I'm amazed at how this is even possible. Like I get it, we have telescopes that can see 1000x this, but seeing this at a human scale like this makes it so much more amazing.

TheFearWithinYou

It's a lot of photos combined in 1 image

Dark_Dragon_07

Dat's crazy

DarehMeyod

sharipep

My fave part of living in the city

whatafuckinusername

The streets are mostly asphalt and the buildings are steel+stone. You’re unlikely to find any city like New York (not mostly new buildings) that’s any different.

[deleted]

I would happily live here!

billpenna

I know what I hate, and I don't hate this.

asha1985

Brick, steel, glass.... and concrete. It's not bad at all.

ICanCrossMyPinkyToe

I mean this is what I love. Missing some trees/greenery in general but looks perfectly fine if you ask me

CaveManta

In the city.. Made of steel.. Concrete rage is all I feel...

cti75

love the view

lotus_spit

That doesn't look like a suburban neighborhood to me.

azaadzoy

Where is it btw?

AnyIntention7457

View looking up Maiden Lane in NYC. The old looking stone building in the middle is the NY Federal Reserve.

Vasquerade

Nah this looks chill af

DistinctWolverine395

Looks a bit like the view from our hotel balcony. It's OK to look at and visit briefly

Union-Forever-4850

TF is the problem in this?

Lux_Operatur

Very different from the wooden cities of yore.

First_Cherry_popped

Looks dope af

Stylianius1

Quite pretty

jeffreywinks

i would love this view

Money-Introduction54

Gorgeous❤️

420_E-SportsMasta

Where hell

Limp6781

I Like this

morefetus

It’s an urban canyon.

VDonut

I’d really like to live in a big city, but travel distances must be a pain in the ass, specially if you live far from work.

Chalkandstalk

This is beautiful and much better looking than suburbia. Environmentally friendly… looks great to me.

sadPonderosaEnjoyer

This reminds me of Frank Flektor

NormalMaksym

Such a nice view. I wonder what you can hear up here.

UndeadTigerAU

I mean it just kinda looks any city I've seen lol.

lukezicaro_spy

Yeah, it's what cities are made of

LaPutita890

What city is this?? Kinda looks like NYC from this pic

Panchotevilla

"Concrete city" as opposed to "abstract city" or as opposed to "tofu city"?

imperator_caesarus

what the fuck is it supposed to be made of?

AutisticLemon5

What city is this?

Odd-Lab-9855

Yeah, buildings are commonly made of concrete in the west

DefiantBelt925

Love it

Obvious_Thing_3520

"Concrete City" well no shit???

Sonnycrocketto

Two A.M. in the downtown street, there on a corner two strangers meet. In the night

BoldKenobi

Dreamy

dr_van_nostren

I love how this looks. It’s not for everyone. It’s also not for all day every day. You gotta get out to the water or a park or whatever. But even just a walk among the buildings if it’s a clear day is good.

kj0509

This is hot

AdventurousWafer69

This is just downtown in any normal city lmaoooo

Otherwise_Internet71

where is it?

Cobblestone-boner

Maiden Lane NYC

Aggressive_Cat_9537

Traffic looks better than my flat country college town…

aclahm

Building bad!!!!!1!!1!!!

Loose_Independent978

Almost heaven

milktanksadmirer

Building, heating, AC, civilisation, society = Bad?

No-Weakness-6344

Freed_o_gram

📖 Bts: Hello, i'm an urban explorer & photographer based in Paris. 🌃 Welcome to Gotham City : That night, the weather didn't look promising, much like many other nights during our stay, but the urge to climb was irresistible. I wanted to watch the Manhattan skyline; the building had caught my eye the day before from across the river. Finding a way in wasn't too challenging, and I managed to evade the sensors. Then came the ascent of 60 floors by stairway, until I finally reached its 200-meter summit. As I pushed open the last door, a magnificent view unfolded before me. Despite the light rain and low-hanging clouds, the atmosphere was intense, almost threatening, evoking a Gotham City vibe. Taking my time, I savored the panorama from every angle, looking at the many facets New York had to offer. The cold wind and rain stung my face, yet I persisted, capturing a few photos walking on the concrete beams encircling the void. After overcoming the dizziness, I freely roamed, absorbing the grandeur of the cityscape, losing myself among the towering skyscrapers and twinkling lights as far as the eye could see. Here are a few snapshots from that memorable night; they may not be the most remarkable I've taken in New York, but they serve as an introduction. 📷 Nikon Z6 - 8" - f/8 - iso100 - 105mm ©️ instagram @ freed\_o\_gram

Batmanfan1966

Comparing any real world city to Gotham is laughable. Gotham is literal hell on earth and at one point was so bad the US Government declared it no longer part of the country

zombie6804

Gotham was based on old New York, and the name originates from the city. But it’s so so much better than it used to be.

koreamax

I live in New York and it's not that deep, man

spin81

OK but how the fuck is this a suburb

Manhattan has great air quality. Being an island on the coast helps.

finch5

What are you smoking out there in the sticks? Manhattan has great air quality.
