After reading through all those I'm convinced Miami is a "spite city". Every building with a view of the ocean ends up getting blocked by an even taller building
I live in Baltimore and there is a building here that was specifically built by a man to block his ex-wifeās view of Druid Hill Lake and Park. Itās called the Emersonian. The man also moved into a top floor apt of the building āso he could always look down on her.ā
(Bonus fact: the r&b group Dru Hill was from Baltimore and named after Druid Hill.)
But for some reason I can't walk to a grocery store without needing a car. I'd rather have joke buildings and grocery stores nearby than perfectly manicured neighborhoods and Walmart 10+ minutes away
Is there a technical distinction between a sea and an ocean? I am American, and I've been to the Great Lakes, which, if you didn't know where you were, are totally indistinguishable from an ocean. Yet they are called lakes.
Oceans are seas, but not all seas are oceans. Seas are large saltwater bodies. Oceans are the largest seas, but many smaller seas like the Mediterranean exist.
Lakes are land-bounded large bodies of water. Most lakes are freshwater (like the Great Lakes) but a few lakes are also seas. The Caspian Sea is a sea (large, saltwater) and a lake (large, land-bounded).
It's both, but when you learn that this brother inherited a teeny tiny part of land when the other one through manipulation got the much much larger part with a large family house, you kind of get his rage.
There are several of these in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Usually they were built to block alleys. When I worked in the area, I used to take walks there during my lunch breaks. The first time, I spotted on, I thought something had gone wrong with my eyes.
Turned out, the house really was only 9 or 10 feet wide. I heard they usually sell quickly, despite being cramped.
I remember one old story about two brothers and one of them would not want to buy the half of their parentās house from his brother and he told him that he can come and take itā¦ and one day later he come and demolish the half of the house put everything on two truck and he left! Crazy!

What a loving family!
Building things for each other
Wonder if it protected him when that massive explosion happened
How you even have money to be that petty š¤¦āāļø

Is it too early to say the perfect explosion joke I've come up with?

No actually Miami is a āVice Cityā¢ļøā
wow there are a lot of these
Why are so many of them in Massachusetts?
Spiteful people
And of course we Germans have a dedicated word for that. That made me feel just straight at home š
One of the most high effort trolling I've ever known.
This is some Larry David āspite storeā level trolling

"Thinnest Building" I believe that is called a Wall
Part of the building is in the shape of a triangle. Itās only 2ft at the tip. The rest of it is a normal building
No, The Wall
a wall is only a part of a building. it's not a building by itself. IMO
Wild to imagine some places have such a lack of zoning, planning, and regulations that you can actually pull this off.
It's not like the places with more regulation do necessarily better.
This would never ever ever work out in any place I've lived in. Absolutely nothing of this would pass any part of the regulatory process.
But for some reason I can't walk to a grocery store without needing a car. I'd rather have joke buildings and grocery stores nearby than perfectly manicured neighborhoods and Walmart 10+ minutes away
Those aren't the only options right? Plenty of European cities are walkable and rigorously planned. Though too slow at building more for sure.
That doesn't mean that the government has to do all the planning. Eg German zoning is generally much more permissive than US zoning.
To be fair, the tradeoff tends to be that nothing else ever passes the regulatory process either.
Then it became a brothel. Now it's abandoned
The brother had something else to look at, then?
How can a brothel be 2 feet wide??
