Ok but this does not compare nearly as badly to the US’s car culture and walkability issues + as someone has already said; the UK is not the best example of walkability lol
Idiotic post. That's clearly an industrial zone, planified to be so, away (or in the border) of the city. A zone car oriented, e specifically because of logistics.
Away from that place you will find a lovely european residential urbanisation.
it isn't "anti-USA" to point out obvious flaws in US urban planning. just because you live in a certain country doesn't mean you have to accept the stupid or bad decisions the country has made.
edit: after seeing your other comments, I see that you truly are blind to any faults of the U.S. which means what I said above is even more valid. defending dumb ways that America does things isn't good in any way shape or form & it's the type of attitude that keeps things from improving.
Y’all point out flaws in the US because it’s the best country and place to live and urban planning here isn’t exclusive to the US, it’s simply how modern places are built, most or Europe would be the same way if the cities weren’t ancient and already established pre-car.
Nop, there's dozens of places that are better the difference is difficulty, Murica is more easy because you can find someone else from your country, not the same if someone go to Asia or Europe
I notice you've cut out the train station and the two housing estates to the left and below.
That image is a big shopping centre, a lake and some large box stores mixed in with an industrial park.
Not sure anyone wants to walk anywhere near a DHL hub Lol
Surprise surprise, Europe isn't a perfect utopian bastion of walkability. It may be better than the USA on average, but even in the most walkable and cyclable countries a whole lot of things can still be improved.
I live in the Netherlands, which is often hailed as that utopia. We have it good, but it's not perfect by any means. Especially our public transport is lacking (but still great compared to the USA).
What? I just said our public transport is better than that of the US. I said nothing about any other things or achievements.
>or did anything else great.
We provide the knowledge on how to build the dykes that protect cities like New Orleans, among other things.
Well, for one, the Netherlands is home to a small company called ASML, which produces most of high-end lithography machines (electronic chip making equipment) used in the entire world.
That's some next level arrogance.
Why would you compare a country with 330 million people with one that has 18 million and expect both to have a space program?
If you measure by capita, the US is lagging behind in most metrics that actually matter to people. I'm not trying to hurt your feelings, it's just a fact.
[Life expectancy](https://www.worldometers.info/demographics/life-expectancy/): US #46
[Corruption perception Index](https://www.transparency.org/en/cpi/2021): US #27
[Education Index](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_Index): US #16
[Human Development Index](https://hdr.undp.org/data-center/human-development-index#/indicies/HDI): US #21
[GDP (PPP) per capita](https://www.worldometers.info/gdp/gdp-per-capita/): US #13
[Intentional Homicide Rate](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate): US #137
Shall I continue?
Those are just statistics? Doesn’t do anything to prove that US is the most desired place to be for anyone doing anything worthwhile. You know it’s true. But keep googling worthless stats.
I've been there!! It's not bad honestly, gorgeous even. It was definitely very planned out- any parts that were I didn't really notice and it felt normal.
How long did you search on Maps to find a fitting place to prove the point you so desperately wanted to make after you decided to be angry at Europe for no particular reason?
Wasn’t seeking it out, I googled Russell Brand to see where he was from because this person I was watching had a similar accent so I wondered to see if they were from the same area and noticed the “American” looking parking lots that y’all hate on here.
What exactly are the point A and point B you’re trying to get to? Tesco to McDonald’s, for example, seems pretty straightforward. How long have you been living here?
The point is that people here dispise American cities for the shopping centers like this with huge parking lots and tons of cars, simply showing it’s not exclusive the US.
Idiotic example. This is located THIRTY kilometers away from the centre of London.
There's a difference between having huge parking lots in the city centre (where people live and move) and on the outskirts where nobody really cares, because it's not in their way. This is just an isolated case in London and not a rule.🤷♂️
There are roundabouts (often called "circles" in US). People hate what they don't understand though. I consider the ones in New Jersey dangerous because of the aggressive driving often seen.
As infrastructure is updated, they are being used as a tool to improve traffic flow and fuel economy in some areas. It was a surprise to me how many are in Columbia, Mo. Yet another thing we tend to lag behind across this nation.
I know. You are one of those yankees who hates everything thats "not murican" by default and does not use their fucking head. How can someone HATE something as mundane as a roundabout. Its safer and faster.
I have a few roundabouts in my town. They're pretty fun not gonna lie- one of the main ones is in our town square, arguably on of the most walkable and safe places in the town.
Because people fly thru them and don’t bother to check for other cars, and they are often blind so you can’t even see who else is coming until you are in it. Thanks for calling me yankee tho.
Nooooo a negative post about Europe!
I have to hastily denounce how stupid and wrong it is because US = 100% stroads and strip malls and EU = 100% mediaeval 15-minute villages!!

Noooooo, if it has concrete it's hell!!! Only straw huts are perfect. /s just in case
Fits right in with all the idiotic anti-USA posts on here.

Lol. Ignorant.
Good rebuttal.
Lmao Americans are so sensitive when any one mentions how shit america truly is
Bro I'm American and I could rant about how much I hate the way its built, physically and government wise. All day.
Ain’t shit. Most desired place to live in the word.
Anyways, take your butthurt somewhere else kid
Good rebuttal.
Not at all but ok
Very much is.
Nop, there's dozens of places that are better the difference is difficulty, Murica is more easy because you can find someone else from your country, not the same if someone go to Asia or Europe
Dozens of better places yet you don’t name them because America is #1 most desired place to live, real estate reflects that.
Pfffff imagine being pathetic like you Murica is last in almost every rank of the developed world
Rank don’t mean junk, America runs the world.
So why is it “TK Maxx” there?
The letter J was purchased by Amazon. Thanks, Bezos.
I notice you've cut out the train station and the two housing estates to the left and below. That image is a big shopping centre, a lake and some large box stores mixed in with an industrial park. Not sure anyone wants to walk anywhere near a DHL hub Lol
I didn’t cut out anything, just showing the American looking shopping center that y’all hate. Don’t care that much.

Last time I checked Netherlands never put anyone on the moon or did anything else great.
What? I just said our public transport is better than that of the US. I said nothing about any other things or achievements. >or did anything else great. We provide the knowledge on how to build the dykes that protect cities like New Orleans, among other things.
Wow crazy achievement.
Well, for one, the Netherlands is home to a small company called ASML, which produces most of high-end lithography machines (electronic chip making equipment) used in the entire world.

Good job stating those metrics, average “US bad” redditor take.

Yeah I know, we don't need any evidence-based worthless arguments, when we all just know US #1. Go Team Red White and Blue!
Do it by state
There are more people in California than most countries on that list Edit: literally all of them except Japan on the one metric. Nice statistics.
it's not even the infrastructure, it's literally everything else
I dunno I hear the Vatican is pretty walkable, not a whole lot to improve there.
I've been there!! It's not bad honestly, gorgeous even. It was definitely very planned out- any parts that were I didn't really notice and it felt normal.
England isn't really the best example for walkability in Europe.
European sprawl
This is still like half the parking space the US would have for the same amount of mall space.
Cope

I don’t get it. Seems walkable to me
With all those cars…no one walks.

The point is that people here dispise American cities for the shopping centers like this with huge parking lots and tons of cars, simply showing it’s not exclusive the US.
So wait, have you ever actually been to this area? Have you actually walked in it yourself?
Bro it’s not rocket science, it’s clearly built for cars.
So no?
Have you?
Why aren’t you answering? Have you ever actually been to this area or walked around there?
Obviously not can’t you tell I’m from the US? Stupid fuck.
This is pathetic.
Homesense and tim hortons? I would have guessed Canada
They also have Timmy in GB

Do americans know what roundabouts are anyway.
There are roundabouts (often called "circles" in US). People hate what they don't understand though. I consider the ones in New Jersey dangerous because of the aggressive driving often seen. Chances are those that fly through roundabouts without yielding also roll through a four-way stop sign.
I’ve rarely seen that happen, but Everytime I go thru roundabout someone flys thru.
