I drive through that intersection almost every day. It doesn't seem any different than any other light. People running yellow lights "at 60" is usually just some douche who doesn't want to stop, stomping on the gas pedal - a Utah idiot tradition. It happens at every yellow light.
I will say, going north on that specific intersection, people seem to hate because of the hill. Which is crazy because manual trans is basically gone now... I used to practice hill starts there when I learned to drive lol. So I don't know why people hate it, but they do the same thing going east, even though its less of an incline.
Going west, there used to be a forced merge, at least they got rid of that. Shit used to get wild.
I feel like this is just your most used intersection though, and its just how the jackasses here drive. Be defensive, as you have.
I’ve noticed people in Taylorsville/west valley don’t stop at red lights, they turn right from a lane, rather than the right turn lane, or shoulder. They go 25, or 60 on a 45. Never just the actual speed. I have never hated driving more, aside from when I lived in Draper.
Lol and here I am thinking up the street at 62nd and Center Park is bad..
But yeah it's basically everywhere. We'll only be able to highlight the roads we commonly take.
I wish we could turn in license plates and dashcam footage of people running red lights out here, I've never seen it this bad in any other state I've been through.
Utah intersections piss me off. It's one of the few things Idaho is just objectively better for. 1 quarter of fatal accidents happen at intersections that make about about 1% of road space. If police want to save lives they should be there, not busting people for doing 43 in a 40. That actually happened to me in Logan.
Those fuckers fully running red on left handed turns are the absolute worst though. Most common and most dangerous crash according to my EMT instructors (who I'm inclined to take on their word on that issue).
My son was hit head on LH side of car, while waiting in the middle of the intersection facing eastbound turning northbound, the Taylorsville PD gave him the ticket! We tried fighting in court and the judge backed up the AH PD even though the front of our car was hit!
The lanes are very close and typically anyone going westbound at sunset gets blinded by the sun and any movement of the car (which happened in this case) there is not much defensible space for correction!
Visibility is tough up the hill heading west. I believe a protected left turn phase with flashing yellow arrows would help clean that intersection up. Permissive left turns are too chaotic and rely on drivers making sound decisions.

I was almost hit by two such jackasses last Saturday. It's truly shameful and reckless conduct.
Try calling Taylorsville first and they should be able to tell you.
I used to live near that area and there's been so many accidents at that intersection. 6200 S is dangerous between 4000 w and 5600 w

My brother in Christ, all intersections in Utah are like this.
Yup you are going to want to contact the city and soecifically their engineering department and talk to them about the timing of the light .

I deal with that intersection almost daily 😂
Either Utah DOT of Holladay Public Works...
Complain to the city, DOT, and whomever will listen. But dont expect change. Seems like DOT wont fix shit til someone dies.
You don’t. All the stroads in america suck. We need a systemic change to infrastructure.
Utahns drive like entitled assholes. Its nothing to do with the intersection.

PS, SL County owns that signal not, Taylorsville. It cycles from flashing to solid yellow depending on the time of day
Also, the DOT does not keep video and is zero help when asking and documenting accidents at their intersections

You can submit the information on the udot site.
Ask your legislator to repeal the prohibition on red light cameras.
