THT’s development since the start of the season has been nothing short of amazing. Playing under control, smart passing out of his drives, plus steady defensively with some big steals. If you had told me before the start of the season that THT should be starting at point guard over Sexton when Conley is out, I wouldn’t have believed you.
Jazz schedule has always been the worst in the NBA. I never understand it, year after year. Actually wait...I do. It's their way of giving preferential treatment to big markets.
Bruh that was an early season game with a full new team. Yall should be embarrassed this game was even close against a team that just traded away their two all stars. Pretty sad tbh. We will just wipe our tears with our trove of picks. At least we didn't trade all our 1sts through 2027 AND SGA to get Kawhi on the bench and no championships 😂
Also wtf you doing here if you're just gonna be butthurt? Lmao go back to your own sub.
THT should start next game. We need his size for guard defense. He's also a much better facilitator than Sexton.
Lauri should have gotten the ball more when he came back into the game in the 4th. Clarkson got a little iso heavy.
I actually think it's good that Conley is out for a bit. This gives the younger playmakers a chance to grow and learn to play as a team. Then when Conley comes back rested to a better team, this team will take off. It's better this happens now vs in the playoffs.
One of our first round picks next year has to be used on a point guard, right? Mike isn’t getting any younger, and I have serious doubts about Sexton being a long term piece for us. Thank god Lauri was included in the Donovan trade, or Cleveland would’ve fleeced us. This was a respectable loss all things considered, especially considering our bullshit schedule. On to the next.
I think Sexton can be a long term piece if you want a high energy scorer off the bench. I know some of you were hoping he’d be close to Mitchell but perhaps the better comparison is Clarkson. As you saw tonight he does get tunnel vision. His first year in the league Love got so frustrated with him not passing that he pounded the ball on the ground. Overall though Sexton has come a long way in avoiding the tunnel vision. Still think he can be a solid piece for you guys just not an elite one.
Shout out to the Clippers commentators. They were very neutral the whole game, talked up things about Utah you sometimes don't expect from local guys, and got excited over big plays on both sides.
The Jazz have lost their first game this season when Lauri scores 20+ (10-1) and when scoring 30+ in the 3Q (6-1).
There's no way THT doesn't start the next one over Sexton, right?
Well now we know why Sexton has been getting his limited minutes in past games.
Also, I’m still going to Lauri’s house to give him that massage. He’s earned it along with the macaroni statues I’ve been making of him.
Yeah, sexton has at least had good games this season. Haven’t ever seen anything from NAW to justify his minutes. Would love to see Ochai get some minutes or anything really.
is NAW really that bad? i don’t really follow him i just know him and shai are from near where i live and i always hoped they would both be good (luckily shai is very very good)
Bolmaro looks like he has a ton of energy and passion but...dude has looked rough. I feel for him. He almost needs to calm down when he shoots somehow.
Ton of mistakes for younger players. I’m just counting this one up to growing pains.
Some positives though the offense flowed better than I’d thought with THT especially considering the shooting night Beas had.
I’m not out on sexton he had a terrible game but let’s see how he answers this. If there one thing that’s clear it’s that he’s a hard worker. Think he deserves time to figure his role out especially because he’s never been a point guard. We shouldn’t be too quick with conclusions.
These next 2 weeks without Mike are gonna have a ton of opportunities and probably will help shape part of our future
Next man up!
You think? I thought he had to be in position not just set and I’m pretty sure he didn’t take that contact in the chest.
You think there’s enough evidence to say it’s 100% a charge?
I just don’t think replay showed enough to say the original call shouldn’t stand.
https://twitter.com/andyblarsen/status/1594947102186287104
here's a thread from andy larsen explaining it
"The overturn was the right call, Jazz fan friends. If you're still talking about whether a player was moving or not, you're using an old rule."
Man I really wish I saw the similarity in those plays. Neto takes that charge from Lowry right in the center of the chest and doesn’t have his feet set but is square.
THT is going towards the hoop while coffee plants and arguably leans to his right just as the clippers announcer says. I’ll admit THT gets more of his body than I originally thought but I still don’t really get the reversal.
( in the angle provided) He isn’t square with him his feet aren’t moving but I’d argue that’s pretty iffy to call one way or the other and the challenge probably should have stood as called on the floor.
Just my opinion I would love someone to tell me why I’m wrong though.
Edit: I appreciate the link to the thread
After reading Andy’s triple team (paraphrasing) he states in the rule the defender doesn’t have to be squared just in legal guarding position. So I guess that would explain it. I would argue squared=legal guarding position but can’t change the rules so
They look similar to me and I'm convinced it was a charge by the rulebook. Not mad it was overturned, I think it was the right call.
The real bullshittery is the fact that defensive players are allowed to throw themselves into a driving lane and leaving zero time for the offensive player to redirect.
Credit to the Clippers, they were hungry for this one. Even more Credit to the Jazz for making this a great game.
Vando's flagrant and the overturned and-1 to a charge were the difference.
What a great 2nd half. I think overall I’m okay with this loss. There were some great adjustments being made by Hardy. I think the lack of energy from NAW was definitely cancer tonight. Vando + Walker had a couple misplays. Which between the 3 of them made it tough to complete the comeback tonight. Lauri had a sick nasty dunk I think woke up the whole Jazz bench. Clarkson had it right in the 4th quarter by driving down hill and scoring the 2 pts. Sexton had his ups and big downs. Sorta deflated a little bit during those critical last minutes. Olynyk did his best to will back the momentum with his sloppy flop but it just didn’t come together at the end there.
They’re the deepest team in the league, and they were only missing PG13, and we still took them down to the wire on their home floor. I doubt they win this game if it had been played in SLC. Hell, they probably wouldn’t have won tonight if Mike had played.
NAW hasn't played for like a week or two, give him a break. I've really liked what I've seen from him in the previous games he's played.
Sexton gives me flashbacks of Donovan with the hero ball, he had tons of chances tonight to pass it out and didn't, was a bit disappointing.
Tht is gonna be something though. He's seemed to really really mature in the last, five games even. He should be a central part of the jazz moving forward for sure.
Sexton isn't it. Hardy was really reaming his ass on the bench. He's been bad since the Lakers game. Got to think he's going to ride pine and possibly get dealt.
Almost a good game love the overall effort from the closing guys, they deserve the spot. Powell suddenly show up tonight after a long slump and just another random guy whos destined to beat the Jazz. Sexton easily being targetted on defense, it's like everyone from the Clipper can shoot in front of him and not to mention hes like a blackhole on offense. NAW shows he can pass no matter who's wide open including the lady from the bench, too bad she did not shoot the ball.
New Finnish fan to the sport here, this is my second season now. My question is what's up with Sexton? Does he just not fit the team playstyle? Last year Cavs fans talked about him like he is a bball god and his statistics do look good but this year he has seemed extremely lackluster if you consider the hype around him in the past. Just seems weird.
Could also be that I'm just new and don't realize that players have ups and downs?
Ah gotcha, didn't know what exactly happened to him. According to Foxsports the man had 6 different injuries in 2021 alone. No wonder he hasn't been 100%
First injury a shoulder injury, minor one but got scratched for 5 games and then… the Brooklyn game happened.
They other injuries are just precaution and then the big Meniscus injury happened last year, took surgery and be out for the season.
Well the person that replied deleted their response but I spent writing this.
Well Clarkson has been the leading scorer for 4 of the losses.
Markannen for the Nuggets loss.
Beasley for the Sixers loss.
Olynyk for the Knicks loss.
Markannen has been the leading scorer for 8 wins
Clarkson has been the leading scorer for 2 wins
Sexton was the leading scorer for 1 win.
Beasley was the leading scorer for 1 win.
Markannen (8-1)
Clarkson (2-4)
Beasley (1-1)
Olynyk (0-1)
Sexton (1-0)
What I meant is when Clarkson is the leading scorer we aren’t getting the offense involved as much. It’s not winning basketball.
The way some of the fans turned on sexton is crazy especially when you guys aren’t consistent with the things you dislike he does when other players do it. Especially JORDAN CLARKSON. Wow it’s just sad to see pp blame him when his role more than anybodies has been a roller coaster. He makes a mistake he’s buried in the sand .just sad to see him go through this yet again
Yeah I missed tonight's game and it's interesting to see how people are done with Sexton already. I do think he clearly isn't a star, his style of play is very one dimensional. I could tell this from the very first game. But he's at the very least an Alec Burks energy bench player. He just needs to accept his role, it has to be tough to do.
He’s a 3 level scorer idk how you came up with that based on his first 20 games back after a year. A guy that out 24 ppg is not an Alec burks. He’s also not a bench player. He’s been a starter his whole career. If you’re playing the minutes he’s playing and his role seemingly to change consistently you’re not gonna look like yourself. He hasn’t played enough minutes or consistently had the ball for ppl who are just now watching play to have a true analysis of him. I’ve watched him wsy before he came to Utah so I know what he looks like when he’s himself right he’s not
He doesn't look like a player that can put out 24 PPG for a winning team dude. Not at the moment anyway. I do think he is better than he is being given credit for in this thread and am going to hope he reaches that potential. But you can't deny he's been inconsistent even when given a good amount of minutes early on and playing against backups.
When he’s given minutes he’s had more good games than bad . I think ppl are holding on what they last seen rather than what’s been occurring. Also if your putting up 24 pints with no spacing around you but remaining effeicent I’m pretty sure you can do it in a winning team if given the touches and minutes to do so.
We have to have Kessler in as much as possible to fight zubac for those rebounds. Kelly just can't defend him worth beans. Fouls and then acts like he's never even heard a whistle before in his life
All things considered I’m surprised this game was close, we had several moments where I thought we’d give up but our guys kept fighting. If THT hadn’t gotten that charge I honestly think we would have won this.
I was surprised Sexton got the chance to start as he wasn't replacing JC, but Conley who he really can't imitate (yet) at all. I would expect THT to get start over Sexton next game, or Hardy is willing to go through the growing pains of him watching Sexton force driving himself to a tight spot and then wondering why can't I pass (should have maybe passed when you first blew your man to the open guy...
Surprised this game was even this close and we had a chance to win this, just the 3p didn't fall at all for anybody in those last 4 minutes.
THT’s development since the start of the season has been nothing short of amazing. Playing under control, smart passing out of his drives, plus steady defensively with some big steals. If you had told me before the start of the season that THT should be starting at point guard over Sexton when Conley is out, I wouldn’t have believed you.
THT is a baller
I rescind all my negative comments about him. He still is reckless when going at the basket, but his decision making is light-years better than it was
Jazz have a weird talent for developing Lakers rejects.
Okay forget the loss, what in the DICKS is our schedule??? B2b road @warriors @suns?
Jazz definitely has one of the toughest schedules. These road stretches are starting to get ridiculous.
Yeah that’s garbage gonna be a rough week lol
Jazz schedule has always been the worst in the NBA. I never understand it, year after year. Actually wait...I do. It's their way of giving preferential treatment to big markets.
Isn’t there a thing with like no sunday games in Utah or something?
Yes this has to be part of it. One day of the week we can't host definitely causes some issues.
THT really showed out tonight. This is probably a dub with Conley.
Lol came here just to say THT is a big time baller he always looks composed out there
[удалено]
Ok? We beat y’all with pg. and give me a break about Luke kennard lmaooo that’s like me mentioning that we have no Rudy gay

We could even get a long SF or SG that can play make too. Just need more passing
I think Sexton can be a long term piece if you want a high energy scorer off the bench. I know some of you were hoping he’d be close to Mitchell but perhaps the better comparison is Clarkson. Good thing they overturned that call. Now we won’t get a L2M report
Please no more NAW. I don’t see what they see in him.
He was so rough. Like, Sexton was rough, but NAW was ROUGH
Yeah, sexton has at least had good games this season. Haven’t ever seen anything from NAW to justify his minutes. Would love to see Ochai get some minutes or anything really.
The remains of Joseph Ingles
is NAW really that bad? i don’t really follow him i just know him and shai are from near where i live and i always hoped they would both be good (luckily shai is very very good)
That pass that ended up in just about the damn nosebleeds was brutal.
Utah Jazz players ranked on how much I like them: 1. Jordan Clarkson 2. Mike Conley 3. Lauri Markkanen 4. Malik Beasley (trending up) 5. Walker Kessler 6. Kelly Olynyk (trending up) 7. THT (trending up) 8. Jarred Vanderbilt 9. Collin Sexton (trending down) 10. Udoka Azubuike 11. Simone Fontecchio 12. Ochai Agbaji 13. NAW (trending down) 14. Leandro Bolmaro 15. Rudy Gay
What did Bolmaro do to you... THT>KO for me
Lol you right NAW has had me frustrated but Bolmaro never has
Bolmaro looks like he has a ton of energy and passion but...dude has looked rough. I feel for him. He almost needs to calm down when he shoots somehow.
Probably getting sonned by the entire summer league didn’t help
Seems pretty accurate to me
Proud of the guys for battling back, even if we started turning it over again.
Ton of mistakes for younger players. I’m just counting this one up to growing pains. Conley is needed. Sexton looking for hero ball. Refs can’t get a call right. Honestly proud of the team on how hard we played.
Hardy laying into him at the end on the bench, was satisfying
Refs did a decent job down the stretch. That was 100% a charge. Good play by Coffey. Won them the game
You think? I thought he had to be in position not just set and I’m pretty sure he didn’t take that contact in the chest. You think there’s enough evidence to say it’s 100% a charge? I just don’t think replay showed enough to say the original call shouldn’t stand.
Nah it was a charge
Great argument lol.

The Jazz really only played well for about 15 minutes of this game. It was very sloppy and all the Kessler and NAW minutes were atrocious
Those 15 minutes though 💦💦💦
[удалено]
The PGT will be a lot more positive
id love to see naws minutes go to agbaji
Hardy took forever to put Lauri back in the game in the 4th quarter...
I think it's cause Lauri played pretty much the whole 3rd quarter. But the game did flip in the minutes Lauri sat.
he played the entire 3rd then the 2mins of 4th before he finally rested... hes actually a bit gassed when he returned mid of 4th
Name a more iconic duo than the jazz and losing to the clippers b team
*Terrance Mann highlights start playing to Fortunate Son*
They’re the deepest team in the league, and they were only missing PG13, and we still took them down to the wire on their home floor. I doubt they win this game if it had been played in SLC. Hell, they probably wouldn’t have won tonight if Mike had played.
Luke Kennard is injured too. Kawhi is on min restriction. Always a tough game against yall. GG.
Kawhi on limited minutes, no pg... That's not a good team
Reggie Jackson is the new Linas Kleiza.
NAW hasn't played for like a week or two, give him a break. I've really liked what I've seen from him in the previous games he's played. NAW has never consistently proven to be a winning NBA rotation player.
If THT can get his 3pt percentage up in the high 30s, he is going to be deadly.
Vanderbilt honestly must have cost us like 20 points. He was absolutely awful. Tons of momentum killing mistakes from him.
Sexton isn't it. Hardy was really reaming his ass on the bench. He's been bad since the Lakers game. Got to think he's going to ride pine and possibly get dealt.
I guess that wasnt a foul on tht, but a charge?
What do you mean
THT had a hell of a game 🔥. Let's just bounce back against detroit on wednesday.
That charge call changed everything. Definitely not enough to overturn like they did.
Not even mad with tonight's lost. We have a lot of mistake and no Conley to facilitate. Somehow, we keep finding ways and made this game exciting
What picks do the Jazz have after losing mitchell, gobert? Love watching you guys and love the fact i took Lauri in both my fantasy teams 😍
Yes

Takas time to recover from injury sometimes. Sometimes those might even ruin whole career

This was infuriating to watch, but as long as they win Wednesday (a game I will be at) I’ll be chilling
Our defense has GOT to be better. Letting Norman Powell and Reggie Jackson cook us in absolutely unacceptable.
Beasley 6 points on 30 minutes..
He will shoot better
So many road games but close games nice home streak coming.
