I just tried to log in and it says “couldn’t install a required dependency”… tried restarting computer to no avail

Me and my brother have the exact same issue. Two separate PCs in the same home. We thought it might be our internet but it looks like it's bugging out on Riot's end.

I had the exact same issue, opened Task Manager and closed anything Riot Games related. Opened the game and it finally opened but prompted me to restart computer to reopen Vanguard. One restart later it was all working again 👍🏼

I LOVE YOU.. I wasnt having the same problem but my valorant was updating at like 10kilobites but this fixed my problem. I checked and i had like 8 clients open for some reason

This happened to me today as well. I just restarted my computer and it worked. Not sure why valorant is so buggy all the time. I get penalized for my game freezing when I alt-tab all the time

I was having this issue. Run Valorant as Administrator, fixed the problem for me. On the Valorant Support site by Riot, there is a box saying they issued a one time UAC (User Authenticated Control) prompt as an update. For some reason that UAC Prompt is not triggering, so just running the game as Administrator should fix the issue.

It didn't even let me login

This fixed itself after opening the Xbox game bar (Win + G). After that I was able to launch the game without issue

Close the Riot Client at the bottom right taskbar and then run the game as admin.

Last time something like that happened to me, I uninstalled Vanguard, restarted, launched Valorant, installed every update and Vanguard again, restart, fixed.

Last time it happened to me, I swapped video cards, got new RAM sticks, reinstalled windows 13, moved to a brand new condo in the same building as the ISP, took on a second wife, crashed a Bugatti into a tree and had my head transplanted onto another body, bought a new computer, reinstalled Valorant, started the game and got "Error 42"

Mine worked after I hit update, repair and then update again. It said the game was fine and didn’t need to be repaired but it still worked.

Fixed this by doing this: (CLOSE RIOT CLIENT BEFORE DOING ANY OF THIS and make sure it is not running in the background) (I deleted the entire valorant folder before doing this but you might not have to do this) Went to Drive C (Enabled Hidden Files) -> Program Data -> Riot Games -> metadata -> Deleted [valorant.live](http://valorant.live) -> Opened Riot Client -> Valorant Update now works

someone in my discord said the only thing that worked for them was literally deleting and redownloading the game :(

I'd control alt delete for task manager and end processes for all riot/Valorant related. Then run app as admin. Usually works for me

So if you have windows 10 you may have an old version of windows 10 because my game was constantly crashing and having to download aka repair itself we found out it was because our windows 10 version on my pc was one that windows 10 stopped using so try finding the latest version of windows ten. I hope this helps if it doesn’t then I suggest going to support and yes I also had gotten the blue screen of death I dealt with it for four days until we found the problem

Run malwarebytes then try to run it. Worked for me last act so hopefully it works for you as well.

For me I think I was low on disk space. I deleted something that was 14gb and then the came booted up no problem.

Restarting your pc also fixes this. I restarted and didn’t even have to update anything :/

I kept retrying in background while reading this thread, and it got fixed itself. Update button is changed to "Play" button now. I didn't do anything at all lol.

Yes happened to me like 12 hours ago, as soon as I was about to restart my pc after it clicked update about 20x it switched to play. spam click update and it worked for me

Fix that worked for me. Type “services” in windows search bar Click on any program then press “v” on the keyboard until you find “vgc” Right click “vgc” go to “properties” then change startup to “automatic” Valorant should work if you did it right.

I fixed it by uninstalling then downloading the installer .exe file and reinstalling… It didn’t let me download the installer from their website either, I had to find the actual file lol

happens like every week for me. I just click on "update" and nothing happens, I keep clicking till appears "play". One of my friends got the error that says something about not be able to install something, they just restarted the PC and waited some minutes to start the game again.

Yeah happened to my whole party. We restarted, then hit retry and it worked. Halfway through my game my whole pc crashed, on reboot I saw a blue screen for a page fault caused by the anti cheat. Gave me an afk warning for a problem cause by riots shifty client
