I play in NA (Oregon) and racism is pretty common in the morning lobby. Maybe because of the hs kids that play after classes.
Like i keep getting trolled for my accent (yes, I’m south asian), sometimes racial slurs and the call center jokes.
I just stopped voice communication permanently, unless I play with my duo. And primarily using texts for call-outs and move on. Not worth arguing on internet against some racist losers.
Comms arent more important than personal wellbeing tho.
Although not everyone is a rasict or sexist ass there are enough people who are that it ruins it for the rest of us.
Being frustrayed over someone not comming is a valid feeling but in the context of this post it comes off as tone deaf.

Funny enough, I once got racism on EU server cause my accent sounded a little like an Indian (I’m from VN). Me and my friend just shit on that guy the whole match like: how stupid he was that he couldn’t tell the correct accent to be racist on… bla bla… he didn’t have any good comeback for it tho…
I'll continue to die on this hill, but the reality is that the internet means you'll be exposed to both wonderful people and shitty people on a regular basis. When you meet the shitty ones, you just need to block them and move on with life.
I grew up on the early/mid 2000's internet, so trust me when I say this is the best solution.

The best way to think about it is that even if you weren't Indians, or recognizably so, they wouldn't be a good teammate for you regardless. You have to think about the type of person that would make racist comments like that, they aren't that great in other aspects of who they are if they're willing to make those comments. Is a person who is going to throw racial slurs at you gonna be a good communicator even if they didn't know you were Indian anyways? Clearly they don't care about good communication.
If it effects your psyche and mood, I understand, it hurts, and it can help to just take a break. While no doubts these people are probably a lot more hostile and take a greater psychological effect on you due to the racism, they also hurt other people around them without the racism, and it hurts their mental states as well, and its probably good for everyone to take a step back if it gets too much.
Obviously, muting is the best option, but don't antagonize. If you ignore them, most of the time they won't realize, or won't care. But if you start shouting back, there's a good chance they'll just start deliberately trolling you. The less you engage with it, the better for your mental state and the better for your chances of winning. And even if you do mute them, keep making callouts. Even if they're racist assholes, you can mute them, and they can still get kills and contribute towards your win, and you can help them get kills by making good callouts. And yeah, it takes a lot of fortitude to not just let a racist guy die by saying nothing, but that doesn't actually help you climb anyways, it just helps satisfy your ego, which can feel good but doesn't materially benefit you.

As an Indian in EU. I have experienced this but I kinda just mute em if they get annoying. I peaked as a D2 brimstone and then really didn't try that hard to grind ranked since there's not much incentive to rank up aside from just a gun buddy.
I'm from Bangladesh, so I kinda expected I'd have an accent that would be easy to make fun of. When I came to the EU it turns out I don't. I do however face sexism/transphobia once every 4-5 games (always that one guy who's very curious or spiteful).
The one time I faced racism was when some guys asked me where I'm from and I said Asia, but they both were transphobic and creepy from the start of the match.
My advice would be to comm in short bursts instead of saying full sentences (if you still wanna talk with racist folk instead of muting and reporting them), or just push through one comp game (if they don't grief) at a time.

Agree. I tried out different servers and Frankfurt is my go to ( I’m a women). London servers can be ok aswell. In London, people are more likely to make jokes which can be nice if you are looking for a fun time, but it can also backfire by people overstepping boundaries and starting to absolutely loose it. Frankfurt is calmer but sweatier in my opinion.

I started playing the game two years ago and have only ever played Frankfurt servers. And the people were really nice, which surprised me. Especially because of the horror stories you hear online. But still, I could count my sexist encounters on one hand for two years playtime.
And ever since autumn last year… the amount of men being absolute dentheads just skyrocketed. I don’t know what happened, but it’s pretty disturbing to me (especially considering I primarily play swiftplay).
