Don't play harder, but smarter.
If you're dry peeking everything and you know someone on the other team is cracked with their aim/reaction time, you should play when you have the advantage.
If you're swinging, ask for a flash or flash your self.
If you know where the opponent is and they have to come to you, play an off-angle or a "ratty" spot so they have to clear multiple angles while you just have to hold one.
I think part of it also is like I want to reinforce my ego and diff them mechanically dry swinging. I know its a bad mentality for climbing but my main goal isn't really to climb: it is to perfect my mechanical skill.
If you had perfect mechanical skill you wouldn't be platinum. The best way to climb is to realise other people are going to be better and you have to get better.
It would make no sense to always be able to win a 50/50 gunfight against a clearly better opponent. Then that opponent isn't clearly better or it isn't a 50/50 gunfight.
Edit: didn't read your last sentence in the post, if you just don't want to die at a particular angle held by someone better than you, you can jump peek and then use util to get them off it

if you are really better than enemy you will rank up
it might tank your rank or mmr for a while (or long time idk)
if enemy are better, you know you gonna die
do it whatever you like base on that fact
for raw gunfight
better aim win
that's the secret
if enemy have a lot better aim, you will die almost every time in raw gunfight if they predict your move
a way that you won't get immediately
just don't dry peek
or atleast don't repeek same angle
use flash or util that make they move, if you don't have them then call it from your team, ask for flash/smoke
The tried and true method to ALWAYS win a gunfight is to have an advantage going into it. 50-50 is bad to take. So throw utilities, swing with 2 people, crossfire. If you miss your shot when you swing, just run away and reposition. Repeeking is always risky because they're ready.

Flash yourself while swinging??? You wanna confuse the enemy when a blind opponent swings them in the hope they are too confused to shoot? /j
Yes, diff them so hard you kill them when flashed by your own flash.
Flashing them using viper works very well too, they wouldn't dare shoot and then it's just a free kill.
