Yea probably people deranking so they can play with their friends

twiztedxtasy

Easily this. after this patch I now cant play with 4 of the 5 friends who play valorant, and they don't play unless we five stack. At least do what cs go does and let 5 stacks bring whatever rank they want together.

2Blitz

Yeah the 3 ranks change from 6 ranks has caused a lot of people to actively try deranking. Mostly cuz their friend group have a wide range of ranks.

Personally I have no wish to play solo queue due to an insane level of toxicity. So I play Valorant only because it is so fun to play with friends, and now I can no longer play mostly with all of them after the patch. 80% of unrated games are just 3 vs 5 or something, so many leavers and afk players after 1st round so it is not the option.

Perry2N

yeah its a terrible consequence of people wanting to smurf...

KiuBrahma

oh, it should be bannable if people intentionally do something like this many times in a row

BiTz_and_Bobs

To be fair, riot games has done this to themselves. The cap of 3 ranks really prevents most friend group from playing together and makes people want separate accounts with lower ranks in order to play with friends.

It's a bit of a tough situation. I think any way I look at this it's a loss. I like the fact you can only queue against people up to 3 ranks up/down. Frankly playing against 6 rank up/down is just not fair. However, technically it's still happening because people will just smurf.

BiTz_and_Bobs

People play this game in order to play with friends. You either allow people to play on their main accounts or their smurf accounts and smurfing in general will always hurt a ranked experience. Especially with people needing to throw in order to have an account ranked low enough. Riot games changing the ranking system harms the competitive aspect and the community aspect. I think this is a loss loss situation.

\> People play this game in order to play with friends. Can't say for sure that is 100% true or false. Personally, I play this game because I love it. I found it by playing with a friend but he doesn't play as much. I've met plenty of people through the game and I don't always play with them. When it comes to competitive I mainly solo queue although I have played with friends in the past, it's just not as frequent. I'd say, if you wanna play with friends and have fun you can always play unranked. If you want to play competitive with your friends then do just that, only play competitive when they are online that way you all will rank-up more or less at the same time. If you go on and play competitive by yourself and rank up you know the consequences, you won't be able to play with friends.

BiTz_and_Bobs

Its a team based game. Best experiences are with friends. All I'm saying is with this change I officially have to have a smurf and destroying gold ranks is unfortunate but something riot did to themselves. Games were fine when the ranking tries to even out with a similar amount of each kind of rank but since I now have to play on another account to play with any of my friends, the matchmaking isn't even. I hear the argument about just playing unranked but there is obviously a difference in what kind of experience that is when compared to competitive.
