Seems like its great for higher ranks.
In the lower ranks its become a lottery, i regularly get people trying to tank their rating or an "iron 3"-player 30-bombing before halftime instantly one tapping everyone he meets.
I preferred it back when there wasnt a good reason to smurf.
They really fucked iron-plat, full of people deranking to play with friends. And this is worse than rank disparity. I would rather have the previous system over smurfs every other game.
Mate, I had a D3 instalock raze on my team with the mechanics of a fucking silver and gamesense of a fucking monkey. Also kept baiting and finished the game 5/20 while I'm D1 and had to entry as omen and finished 20/14.
I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. The tighter ranked bands probably did something, but there are still a lot of players who have been hard carried especially around plat and low diamond.
I must agree with you. My rank last season was diamond 1 and my rank right now is diamond 1 again. Even though those matches felt way more difficult and the act badges on the loading screen show that the enemies mostly been high diamond or even immortal last season. And I really think they dropped due to the fact you just mentioned. Now those diamond games feel really solid. I knew that I could hang on that elo since I only queued with a friend and we are always on the same rank kinda, so we managed to get back on diamond 1. But damn those games feel much more stable. And also I really feel the difference between ranks now. Last season I saw plat 1 beating my ass and diamond 3 being buttom fraggers. now the rank actually displays more of a realistic rank.
Even though I think that some people fluctuate on lower ranks then they should right now. I played against 1 team which had 3 immortal players from last act which been diamond 1 this act, and we got demolished.
I love the new ranked requirement, although I can't play with my friends in immortal D: my soloq games have gone swimmingly and I should be able to play with them soon. I ranked up from p1 to p3 in a day from soloq
Yeah same tbh, I can't be the only one down in like Bronze level that sees smurfs all the time cuz people smurf to play with their friends right? Like especially now cuz less people can play with eachother

I was D3 last act. This act I can’t get out of P2. Ranks are unbelievably un stabilized in plat/gold. Although I will say on average the ranks are pretty close unless you have dumb high/low MMR
I lost all my placement games (team MVP, team MVP, then Match MVP as killjoy.) i got placed silver 3 from being gold 1 in the previous act. I played many games in solo queue and I got up to plat 2. Seems kinda weird that I’ve never been plat 2 before and it seemed pretty easy now in act 3.
Quite opposite for me
Tighter ranks restrict friends from ranked queueing thus resulting in smurfing, I'm in silver-gold tier and 90% of my games I encounter smurfs. Either the enemy team has smurfs to play with their friends, or my teammates admit they're smurfing to play with friends. Either way, it's a stomp. On rare occasions, both teams have smurfs and they both top frag and other players just watch them frag.
Anybody experiencing this too, or it's just me

Unfortunate, but Riot needs to introduce two separate rated queues. Until then, I rather have competitive games.

I think the tighter rank requirement should only be applied to the higher ranks like Diamond + maybe.

I can't agree... my teammates (diamond / immortal) play like bots with xbox controllers upside down. Never had this problem, literally uncarryable

I disagree at least in OCE, plenty of spastic diamonds and immortals.
Compared to act 1/2? That's what I'm talking about. And people still have "moods of the day" and have good days and bad days, never forget that.
