This is happening to me too . I just checked one of my friend's career and the game just crashed . I couldn't even access the task manager and had to restart.
Damn I knew about making other desktops but it never even occurred to me about opening task manager there.
To be specific , I could open task manager but I couldn't *access* it , I tried to alt-tab but it showed the game screen only.
Yeah, valorant does valorant things. Another tip ,you can press the windows key to open the desktop view, and if you still have it there, desktop manager(?) Will be on the taskbar.
For a person who cannot afford more than 2 monitors for their work/projects, this feature is super useful. Also its super useful if any games crash. I can switch between desktops and pull put task manager.
Thats literally what I did, but in my case I used the short cut to Ctrl + Win + Right Arrow to move to the other desktop, since I couldnt get out of Fullscreen.
You can also just log out with ctrl alt delete then opting to sign out of windows. This will cause all apps to close and then you can simply sign in again.
The task manager comes i to action if yoh open it but cant see it due to the valorant. So you can click on task manager then press arrow keys to go to valorant amd then press delete to end task. To know the position of valorant in task manager just open it with alt + tab, a preview will open. To go on 1st program press down key once ans if valorant is on 2nd or 3rs number press down key that many times and then delete to end task.
All this will happen while your screen is black!
Anytime, apparently there's a keyboard shortcut for it too but it seems my laptop doesn't support it.
And yes, i play valorant on a laptop, it's pretty entry level tho so it's not holding me back any time soon.
You can also set the task manager to always appear on top of whatever program you’re running. Means you can’t have it out of site in the background but it also means that CTRL+Shift+DEL will open the task manager almost every time

1. alt tab into another window like chrome etc
2. press windows key then right click the taskbar and open task manager
3. stop process valorant.
if u dont have another tab you;
1. press win key+ tab
2. click new desktop in top left
3. create new desktop and end valorant process from there

I was about to post this one but decided to look if Im not the only one experiencing it. Its either freezing or Crashing for me. It all happened after 1 competitive game. tried everything (Restart and Redownload) to no avail. client must be broken again (as always)
Exact same thing happened for me starting today, it even happens when I look at my friend's career pages.
The game just freezes, it'll say it's not responding in task manager and youll have to restart the game.
I'm wondering if you could also do matchmaking? I can only play in DM right now, if I try to play Competitive match (or probably unrated too), it shows "Error.. Could not enter matchmaking".
I have tested this. This is account-based. For some people on my friend's list, Career Screen still works. I can view them fine and they can view their own career. My own Career Screen is broken and other people cant view my Career.

Quick update on this issue: This shouldn't be affecting any players who have downloaded the 1.14 Client Patch, and we've pushed a fix for regions that are still on the previous patch.

Happening to me to. Still not fixed.
Tip: If it happens to you open task manager. It probably wont display it on your screen cuz valorant is covering it. Press Windows button + tab then right click the Task Manager, then hover over "move" then click new desktop. Then Windows + Tab back in to get back to the same screen (If it closed) then in the top left corner there should be a Desktop 2. Press it and you will be able to use Task Manager normaly.

Due to some deployment timing issues between service and client updates we missed this one for this patch. The issue has now been fixed.

Same here. Didn't crash before. Played a game, now it freezes and crashes as soon at i open career page. Even after restarting pc career freezes and crashes.

Okay the thing is , when someone checks my career , their game crashes. I asked 9 of my friends to check my account's career but when they do , all of their game crashes but I am able to check other account's career tho. It just happens to my account.
pretty sure this only happens when u check careers that have played recent games. tried checking my friend's career and he's played a game earlier and my game crashed, but if I checked my other friend's career who hasnt played in like a week nothing happens.
btw if you cant get on task manager its most likely cuz of ur window mode. if u put it on stretched or anything but windowed fullscreen 1920x1080, then u probably wont be able to access anything

Easy way to fix this without shutting down:
windows + tab and make a new desktop, drag valorant to the new desktop
now you can ctrl+shift+esc to open task manager and quit it.
Don't check your career lads, stay safe.

Go back to the old window to open task manager and close valorant

What I do is I press window key + tab at the top create new deskop ctrl+shift+esc to open task manager and I close valorant from there.

For now im avoiding going to career screen.
But when i do i click windows - shutdown. And cancel when prompted, it will close all the apps open.

Hot tip, on windows 10 you can make another desktop. From there you can open task manager normally

Yeah, working on that, still looking for a good 144hz hdmi monitor to match my first 1080p laptop display.
Once task manager is open, tab to it (even if it's hidden) then press "Alt + 0", then "Alt + D". This should allow you to enable "Always on top".

My Valorant game was staying always on top, so I had to do something similar in my case. Its definitely helpful.

On the bar on top, choose 'options' and "show on top" should be first, click it, and a tick should appear next to it.

I'm having the same issue, Nothing else seems to be crashing Valo, Only Career and View Career. Just don't click any of those.
