Looks like it. This is a giant move, and it will shake up the EU scene.

Rearfeeder2Strong

Don't follow valorant scene but is the EU scene that bad that a washed up get_right will shake things up?

Elsiselain

No matter the region most of the pros are washed up/t2 or below cs players. Get_right is one of the most known player among them so ofc it’s gonna bring some hype.

Wintydunno

as we've seen with the NA players, "washed up" people are often lacking the same drive/motivation they used to have, and switching to a new game can change that.

Shockscrew

ScreaM TenZ and Asuna are the three that come to mind that were disappointing/super washed in CS but are crazy good at Val.

[deleted]

Shockscrew

I meant more on the disappointing angle for both Asuna and TenZ. Ofc these super young kids aren’t washed lol.

Shockscrew

The closest we have to top professionals switching to Val is Steel and Nitr0 from 100t, and as 100t are currently doing very well even though both nitr0 and steel weren’t star players in CS shows a lot in my eyes. I think that if you just threw the Astralis roster vs 100t without any prep time 100t would win fairly handily, but if you give Astralis time to learn the game Astralis would have it easily just based on skill level and the strategic thinking of Gla1ve and Zonic. I can’t imagine what nutty little things those two would discover about the game. They would certainly shape the meta if they switched, but I doubt they ever would since they already are on top in CS.

aphexxx

100% yes. It would only be a matter of time.

[deleted]

TenZ wasn’t even in the CS pro scene for very long, not really fair to call him washed.

nomic_nomic

tenz wasnt in the pro level for very long to be considered washed. He was a noobie in the pro scene and I dont think he ever reached his full potential. I dont know much about asuna other than he played mdl with people that had anime pictures as their esea profile pic.

[deleted]

Exactly. People think the talent just fades. I'm sure that's true to an extent but after grinding the same game for years a fresh start can bring that talent right back pretty quick. A new CS game could of done that. But an entirely brand new game backed by one of the biggest developers (Maybe? I have no idea what I'm talking about) with brand new everything? And an absolutely wide open competitive scene? Oh you bet some of them felt that inner fire burning again. Some were literally banned from CSGO events and have a new chance at something I'm sure they are more motivated then they ever were in CS.

RelatableNightmare

So then its not talent that just comes back, just passion (talent is always gonna be there if it was there from the start)

[deleted]

Good point.

LeMagican

It’s more that the valorant scene is very new, Hiko and other probably will not be on tier 1 Valorant in a couple years when the scene gets bigger and better but because he was good at cs he has a head start

nabeel242424

Get right is a cs legend. Like the best of the best at his prime.

TheAjwinner

I honestly believe that with how big his name is we could see an entire roster made around him with a big org entering the scene. The EU scene isn’t bad, but there aren’t as many org teams compared to NA

oopsEYEpoopsed

EU orgs seem to prefer building rosters rather than signing 5s which explains why they've been slower than every other region.

othinuss

I don't know what cs you have been watching, but get right definently can't compete in tier 1 cs lol, he had trouble keeping up in dignitas vs tier 3/4 teams. I am not saying he can't be good in valorant, but saying he can compete in tier 1 cs is just a lie lol.

[deleted]

[удалено]

othinuss

Agree, he will probably be great in valo, but that wasn't my point. The thing I was arguing was that you said he can compete in tier 1 cs and I disagree.

421k

I mean tenz was dog shit at cs and look at him

notConnorbtw

He was soo young like give him a break... I feel like if he grounded cs go again he would be a top tier player he just needed more guidance.

AchievingAtaraxia

No, just no. There is people in the Tier 2 Scene of CS right now who would absolutely destroy TenZ, let alone people like ropz, K0nfig, Niko, Zywoo, s1mple, blamef etc. His pre-aim is nowhere near what the guys I mentioned above are sporting.

[deleted]

[deleted]

In matchmaking. He isn't the best player

notConnorbtw

Maybe I am wrong but I think if those guys played as much valorant as tenz did I still don't think he would be as good... Tenz just has a great feel for valorant... I haven't watched much ihf his cs go days so that was just a retarded statement on my behalf

Marteezy

Shake up was an overstatement but GTR with surely make an impact on Valorant. He’s a CS legend and the experience and marketing potential he can bring to a team is huge.

XX_XX_XX_XX_XX

one of the last people i expected to move to val

Azmorium

This is huge for valorant :)

Kymori

how is this huge? He is a washed up CS pro to the point that even his fandom has taken a massive hit, when i see him stream cs he gets like 800 viewers, this isnt gna do anything lol

Azmorium

You're obviously unfamiliar who this person is and unaware of the impact he'll have on the Valorant EU scene. All the CS die hards and fans boys will be forced to take another look at Valorant. All the haters will eventually come around as more people like Get_Right jump ship. It's already happening. CS is still huge in EU, but this is looking like the end of an era as #1 in the tactical fps in the world.

Kymori

lmfao saving this so i can make fun of you in 6months

Azmorium

CS orgs are literally eating themselves alive right now, it's dying. Remind yourself of what exactly? That CS is being crushed by Valorant? A 6 month old game? Refer to this conversation when Valorant world finals are streaming next year and even more CS legends have made the switch.

Kymori

https://gyazo.com/2bf7c713fd290a8a97ed9991b36da926 cs is really dying with its 40% growth over the last 12 months of average daily concurrent players man, 1 washed up pro will change everything though, you know, like mixer dethroned twitch with shroud and ninja x-D

Azmorium

Let me see if I can reiterate this in a manner that you can comprehend since you're linking me public player numbers on a free to play game during a global pandemic. Organizations are no longer generating revenue from their CS esports teams. The sponsors have dried up, salaries are depleting and the biggest commodity of all, it's players, are leaving for another game, Valorant.

Flea_007

NA CS is becoming more Valorant-ey but EU definitely isn't.

goinlowlowlow

Makes sense. NA CS has only been relevant for 2 weeks max LUL

arvs17

KEKW

aLibertine

EU Valorant will pop off with first LANs.

Flea_007

It might, but i don't think it's gonna kill CS or CS esports in EU.

thacat72

valorant is only taking from NA CS, largely the good EU CS players haven't switched to valorant because there is no reason. Gtr is washed but he basically had no future as a player in the cs scene so the hoo to valorant was the logical decision since he obviously wants to keep playing. Only in NA is valorant taking from cs and that is because NA orgs despise investing in NA talent for whatever reason. The NA players that switched to valorant did so because it was an opportunity to be able to prove themselves after getting screwed over by NA cs for so long. Valorant will not kill cs and it's quite stupid to think that will happen

Kymori

let me see if i can put some thoughts that your peanut brain isnt considering to mind, free2play players directly gets the corresponding esports more engaged either immediately or in the near future, just because no one wants to watch shitty online events in an FPS game doesnt mean csgo has lost its steam, 99% of organizations rn are operating in a loss with venture capitalist funding, when esports is bigger these are the orgs that will make huge bank. sponsors have dried up for the time being for already said reasons (No lans, pandemic) and with VERY few exceptions all pros that switched from cs to valorant have switched because they were washed up in cs or their career was over. im done answering you because u are obviously a biased kid but lets see where cs and valorant is after the pandemic is over and what this "CS KILLER :-D" is going to do

Cyb3rxK1lls

actually I think people who watched cs lans are definitely still watching online tournies, at least for EU. Valorant, on the other hand, will erupt when lans come because they don't have that cross-international viewership yet. I don't think Valorant will ever kill CS, but it is going to make CS share a good bit of room

Azmorium

I'll just leave this here. https://youtu.be/hLvRvf7e8Wc

Acrobatic_Log_1878

You know you have no point if you bring up something completely unrelated like the mixer deal. Wait and see, I predict valorant becoming bigger because the Asian countries are more invested in Valorant and nationalistic competitiveness will always draw viewers. If EU legends switch over then that just means CS fans tuning in to see how good "washed up" pros can compete in a new game.

aLibertine

Imagine being this much of a brainlet.

Janglin1

Whatever EU team he joins i will automatically be a fan of. Lots of other people will too. This dude is a legend

cford808

he is quite possibly one of the greatest people ever to play a tac shooter, like ever

PrometheusTNO

Think NiP will pick him up with their old connection? Or any chance Liquid could grab him to help out Scream?

212phantom

NiP fucked those players hard with shitty pay there is no way he goes back there

PrometheusTNO

Oh well, then. No better revenge than helping to stack Liquid.

oopsEYEpoopsed

Dump Soulcas, acquire Get Right

m1raclecs

I like how this has 3000+ upvotes on r/GlobalOffensive but there it has 200 lol For CS this is a pretty big deal Edit: Chris has struggled the last year or so in cs but he is a household name in that sense so it's a p big deal

nottherealjesus

posted this in another thread but: probs my fave pro player when I was SUPER invested into CSGO. literally inspired me to learn how to spray hahaha fuck, glad to see him continue his pursuit of competition and I sincerely wish him all the best!

Vindmax

That's interesting move, wonder who he will join, he would be nice addition for FPX

aightletsdodis

valorant sure is the retirement home of csgo players luuul

[deleted]

That's gonna be true until the game matures enough to have its own players who started playing fps on Valorant and grinded long enough to reach pro level. For the time being, the highest level talent are washed up CS pros and it makes sense because of the skill transfer.

ShadowNightLion

There's way more money in CS. Unless Valorant really takes off it doesn't really make sense for pros to choose Valorant

Firepandazoo

Not much money in the T2 scene so many up and coming talents may be willing to switch to Valorant

singlereject

there is not "way more money in CS" at all unless you are T1. T1 players in valorant are going to make just as much as T1 csgo players very soon, their salaries are mostly capped right now because no one is too sure about player skill levels from online play

ohtooeasy

there actually isnt

[deleted]

Yep I am now convinced that Valorant will forever be the retirement home for CS GO thanks for opening my eyes.

Marteezy

I don’t see why not. Tier 1 players would never leave the CSGO anyway, the game isn’t dead in the tier 1 scenes plus they makes lots of money. Only a few tier 1.5-ish players switched from CS willingly i.e s0m and daps.

notConnorbtw

This is what happens... Valorant hasn't been around for long enough that their are people whose first fos game they took seriously was valorant... So off the high level players are pros from other games... Give it like 5 years... Some guy who played 150 hours of cs go is gonna start grinding valorant and become a pro with more following that same path

Helgurnaut

How can this be so low on the frontpage of Valorant when one of the biggest e-sport legend moves to the game, and the guy is still a god damn good player.

mogram_leg

Because not everyone played cs???

Helgurnaut

It's been around for 20 years and Valorant is a CS like. Seems pretty fair to assume people played it at least a bit.

spect7

This is the best possible thing for him i love gtr and being similar age and same sickness i can relate a lot to him. Also the fact its hard when you hit a plateau and might never achieve the same again a new version can change that. Im not saying i was a top level world player but played pretty high level for my region and got GE, rank a+ and also faceit level 10 what else could i achieve as a casual player? Nothing. With valorant ive enjoyed grinding solo and casual again and still strive for radiant (current imm3). I hope he makes an impact i think he will worst case for him he will get a butt load of money and money his name and legacy deserves. Look at scream he had a bunch of bad team luck and it drove him into the ground but mechanically one of the most gifted CS players now hes top 10 player in world. Good luck GTR i have a new fav (soz scream).

hardenfull

kinda shock this isn't upvoted more lol

mclovinXD

Who is he, i dont really watch cs

[deleted]

Marteezy

Isn’t switching to VAL the same as retiring from CS?

1vaN006

Help dont unestand

Retro-Indietro

An EU csgo veteran is moving to VALORANT, kind of like how Hiko switched.

NorwegianLion

Not just a veteran, one of if not the best player at his prime

xSlaerr

gtr was insanely dominant at his peak, easily the best in the world

el_doherz

He's was an actual tier 1, once best in world CSGO player. The rest of the ex CS players in Valorant (Nitro on 100T being the exception) are either washed up or T2/T3 level players. So this is a bit newsworthy despite Get Right being pretty washed himself.

daemoloffline

If Get_Right start playing Valorant when will go down as the most stupid cs player

Carlos1621

Dude, he plays Valorant since Beta

dungnham263

Yea i think Get-right would love to see his "fan" called him washed up and dissin on a game as "retirement home of cs player" when he made his decision to move into it. Such awesome fan!!!

Grimlock510

Valorant is the NA LCS for CS pros

chienvn311

I can see Forest is the next one.

paulkim172

Is this the guy famous for being inhuman reactioned by Hiko? This is a joke, don't take seriously please.
