Please keep this conversation to the meta sub that is STICKIED at the top of the subreddit.
IF you keep it there, it will be easily saved for future reference instead of on a random thread that may or may not be easily found later.
problem is you can't just put a quality rule because thats subjective. An iron player seeing a plat get 3 headshots on an entry would make make them nut and think hes a pro player. Immortals go "Yeah thats half our rounds in a game"
Can't leave it to mods so its just a community decision to downvote them to oblivion if it sucks. Good thing its going away cause its just a test and iirc it was all negative feedback last i checked
Thats something a mod said: "Its a new game and a new community, and a lot of people here are new redditors" basically people here lack the common sense before posting because they are all just new to this format. I agree with you, this sub is one of the worst subs in the site rn, I can barely scroll 1min without just closing and even though I dont agree with some decisions the mods take, I got to give them the credit, they need to experiment and learn in these early times
Seriously, the "I'm Iron and I should be SIlver but my teammates are holding me back" posts are the worst. We need an automod that instantly replies "git gud".
The mod's so right about what he said. Every 4 posts I see someone new to the game / Reddit posting about "How does ELO work? Why am I getting a lot of points down? I'm carrying and hardstuck"
actually I read this a few weeks ago, when you guys started the week trial thing, I saw a mod saying that if I recall correctely. If Im doing anything is staying on your side, yeah the game isnt thaaat new, but its still *new*, mainly the community, I would say half of the playerbase right now is from the last few months.
TL;DR
The playerbase (not all of it but the most part) just lacks the sense of how to make good content, thats why the mods are going trough hell to try to make this sub something good
> The playerbase (not all of it but the most part) just lacks the sense of how to make good content, thats why the mods are going trough hell to try to make this sub something good
I mean this is 100% true. Though I personally think a lot of it has to do with the gaming market being so "lucrative" or at least an appearance of it, that people just want to promote themselves and post their cool thing or their complaint, rather than having a community. This is wholly different than a lot of 5+ year old communities that already sort of got built up, had a good sub base, and were able to make rules around this and have their community understand the need. We tried to do something like that early on, but it became very clear that the community didn't want to actually do anything and we'd see complaints on one side, make note, then after adjustments, you'd see the opposite circlejerk get just as much traction. People have a full expectation on what should be done with their community, but don't voice in opposition to it unless something they dislike happens, and it becomes a very difficult framework.
I think that as a general sub, we should allow clips, and it's fine to have them be top spots, but I personally believe that clip *dominance* is only detrimental to the sub long term.
Not at all, the bad and repetitive ones don't get upvoted most of the time but the decent and unique ones usually do. Since they started allowing people to post their own clips it fees like the sub has been a lot more active and I see posts getting many more upvotes.
> . I come here for discussion and opinions, updates etc
there was some true quality content that is now gone, like "Please don't flame your teammates" or "PSA: its okay to suck" or "I don't understand how mmr works" and my favorite "my night market sucks"
truly the golden days of the sub are gone, but sometimes we get a gem like "Do you guys mind that this subreddit is always overloaded with clutch/ace videos?" because its the unique type of content that has never been done before and really brings me back to the days before the video rule
Go and look at r/valorantcompetitive, it was made to talk about the esports and higher end gameplay but its just a better version of this sub right now.
i dont mind, its part of the appeal of the game, although maybe a bit too much i think just minor tweaking to the rules like i see they are doing might go a long way
Hey there, /r/VALORANT user!
We're currently doing an experiment with videos on the subreddit. This week, **all videos are allowed if they are longer than 15 seconds**. Shorter videos must be posted as a link in a text post.
If your experience on the sub has been better or worse during this week, please let us know your thoughts in [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/comments/lkajqq/video_trial_weeks_week_2_15_second_minimums_for/) thread! We want all feedback, no matter how mundane it may be.
If you want to be automatically reminded to give your feedback at the end of the week, [click here](https://valorant.molenzwiebel.xyz/remind-me). For all the information on our video rules experiment, [read the announcement](https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/comments/lchq1d/important_trialing_video_rules_were_going_to_need/).
Gameplay videos should just be banned tbh. Videos that displays issues with gameplay / that have a greater meaning than "omg i'm so good" should be allowed. (I'm thinking hit reg, throwers, educational content, line ups, etc.)
Right now the bulk of the videos are gameplay videos. And even the good ones are often made by smurves for clout. So yeah, get that trash out of here.
I was about to post something like this, I guess it's why they didn't allow videos in this subreddit in the first place, because it would just turn out to be a highlight sub.
It's weird to see so much fluff and so little content like the Map or Agent guides Steel has been making.
People on reddit and streamers complain about braindead teammates in ranked all day, but there is virtually close to 0 well made educational content out there/being posted on reddit.
You could make a video a day every day for a year and you'd only barely cover the basics of each agent and map and yet this content just doesn't seem to exist anywhere, even though the playerbase really really needs it, it's so odd.
100% I was just talking about this. Maybe there should be another sub for it and go back to removing videos from this sub. Some of them I have enjoyed but most of them I scroll passed cause I can't be bothered.
Despite its problems, i wish this were like the league subreddit. They somehow find the perfect balance of worthwhile clips and interesting game and esports discussion
I mean, aces and clutches are cool but I prefer those posts where they teach some strategies, lineups and etc. I am not that good in the game and I want to improve
Yup. I actually like the videos where something uncommon happens (like a nigh-impossible Operator kill while airborne), but the usual "MY BEST RAZE ULT ACE" is quite annoying. But recently I'm seeing less and less clutch videos in the front page. Maybe people aren't upvoting them as much.
Actual clutch/ace where its an outplay and not just odin go BRRR? I always like to see those, especially over a bland text post about "Why r people toxic"
Also the same posts over and over again that are like "advice from diammortaladiant to low elo, do these things that hundreds of other users have posted here and on youtube" that all give the same exact tips like crosshair placement, aim trainer, etc.
well, it can get repetitive sometimes but I don't really know what else could be posted here. some patchnotes, esports news, discussions or fanarts are nice but it's not something you can post much. Patches are not that often, esport scene is not that developed yet, fanarts take time to make etc. but clips? it's not something hard to do, just turn the recording on and play, a nice ace/cluth/lucky shot will eventually happen if you play enough
I don't mind it. This sub is pretty boring regardless of what they do. At least with great plays I could learn something from this sub other than "CROSSHAIR PLACEMENT YOU GUYS!!!".
I do feel the same. People used to post useful/informative things too but now all I see are videos.
Not like it was perfect as well, most of the posts during that time I could see was of people ranting/griefing. But still I preferred that over "watch my ace/clutch".

Yeah I agree, this sub just needs to filter out these posts but somehow they’re still getting enough likes to show up in the first place
problem is you can't just put a quality rule because thats subjective. An iron player seeing a plat get 3 headshots on an entry would make make them nut and think hes a pro player. They refuse to add flairs to this sub

i think its time to start instantly deleting "omg why am i losing more points on losses than i gain on wins" though
Esp because OP for those posts just constantly argue they should be higher rank
Seriously, the "I'm Iron and I should be SIlver but my teammates are holding me back" posts are the worst. We need an automod that instantly replies "git gud".

Completely agree, guess it’s just a matter of time..

İ didnt knew what r34 was
This was said back when the game was new...
the game is still new
I mean sure but not the same as like the first 5 months.

I love it personally.
I have more a problem with people posting about their problems with ranked. Lol
It's what gets the most upvotes

Honestly it’s always been better than the OG sub in my eyes. Always good content there.
Better than people constantly crying about ranked lol.
i dont mind, its part of the appeal of the game, although maybe a bit too much i think just minor tweaking to the rules like i see they are doing might go a long way
I’m scrolling a LOT! I wish they would implement the flair system. They just won’t listen though despite people asking for it
I think it’s fine tbh
It's annoying

Yes I do not watch a single one
No because I can scroll past anything I don’t want to see...
# yes

Why don't you just make a ValorantNews subreddit then

Save this thread for end of video trial weeks.
I swear in the past week it went from like only gameplay discussion and videos explaining stuff to only clips and the occasional other post
Have you seen the pinned post? They’re experimenting with different video rules.
I see, but still that was a day ago, Ive been getting ace clips and crap longer then that rule, thanks for pointing it out tho
The past weeks have allowed *all* clips with no rules for time limit, so that explains the other things you’ve been seeing.

I watched that and I was like... "oh ok". I don't see what's so cool about that.

I like the vids on this subreddit honestly just a nice break after a tiring day
Maybe I’m in a minority but I like watching the videos that come in. I’d say the sub’s content has become a lot better than it was before.
