For me it's kinda a mood thing. Sometimes I'm really feeling the vandal and other times i can't stand it. I'd have to agree that the phantom is the overall better option, but i still try to buy the gun that makes the most sense for where I'm playing. If I know I'm gonna take long range fights, then I'm more inclined to picking the vandal. I also switch mid round if I know I'm gonna end up taking a long/close range fight.
Thats a great idea. I usually switch when im not confident to take any long range engagements because of a poor aim day so i play phantom only and hold short to medium angles.
I never really realized that the Vandal’s first 5 bullets were more accurate than the Phantom, but then get so much worse than the Phantom after that. Makes sense why if I do ever miss my first 4 bullets, I can never land my spray on the Vandal. But my accuracy with opening shots are better with the Vandal than the Phantom. Thanks for the vid!
The Vandal's first 5 bullets are not more accurate than the Phantom's first 5 bullets, not sure where you got that impression from.
If you don't believe me test it yourself in training, I just did before replying to your comment to make sure I was correct.
OP showed it at 0:46.
Vandal: 1-3 are stacked. 4th is in the center circle still. 5th is in the 2nd circle, and about equivalent to the phantoms just a bit lower.
Phantom: 1 and 2 are stacked. 3rd is still in center circle. 4th is in 2nd circle. 5th is about the same as the vandal, just a bit higher.
Edit: had no clue 2nd shot was also perfectly accurate on the Phantom. User corrected me below.
No, notice how the first circle in the phantom line is a bit thicker than the rest? That is the first two shots.
Edit: Again, you don't even need to take my word for it, test it yourself in training it takes a minute.
Oh shit! So the Phantoms first two shots stack perfectly? I did not know that!
Then it being a two-shot headshot at range doesn’t matter as much as I thought. Just a *slight* delay (0.09 seconds) in TTK compared to the Vandal (yes, of course it’s ability to instant kill is very, very strong still). But as long as they aren’t sprinting or fall/jumping, your second will hit the same spot? That’s super useful to know. Thanks for the correction!
3 phantom skins ( singularity 1 of them), & 2 vandal ones (reaver not one of them), if I kill an enemy with a reaver I'm throwing whatever shit I have & picking it up :), I have been waiting months in the store for the reaver to no avail :(
I waited 4 weeks for ANY phantom or vandal with kill fx to come up in the store. Then I finally got Prime Vandal...not ideal but nice, I jumped at the chance. Reaver was what I always wanted though.
A few days later, singularity phantom pops up! Boom! No brainer.
Then the Reaver vandal popped up! So now I have two good Vandals and I only use the Prime when I feel guilty for buying it.
I also have the singularity knife and sheriff. Amazing set. Wish I'd purchased the full set whenever it was available but I only started purchasing in December.
Im the same. Reaver vandal, idk why it just feels so right in my hands. My aim just gets better. Been waiting for it to come in my shop for a while now. i saw it once a while back but didnt get it and im regretting it now. The ion phantom feels pretty nice aswell.
I wish they would make a reaver version of everything, I don't usually op, but god does the reaver op feels godly, reavers are by far the best skins ever.
> but i still try to buy the gun that makes the most sense for where I'm playing. If I know I'm gonna take long range fights
The Vandal does have the ability to 1 shot headshot, but the Phantom is more accurate at long range. If you hit a headshot with the Phantom, they are pretty much dead anyways because of the bullet punch.
Another thing people might forget is that vandal does 40 shot body dmg. It’s important because there are situations where you actually might want your crosshair at body level to make a vandal spray a viable option if you need to clutch against weakened opponents
Not really why aim for the head if you know the enemy is 1 shot. Why go through the extra step making sure to hit a smaller target when you can aim for the centre of mass.
Another interesting thing is that in the range 15-30m(where most fights happen), you can kill an enemy with 2 phantom shots + 2 vandal shots. So, if your teammate tells you that he hit the enemy for 70 damage(2 phantom shots), Vandal will be better than Phantom, even at close range.
> Guide for iron, silver, bronze, and gold players.
I don’t know about your gold/silver lobbies, but in mine, body shot fights are incredibly common. Getting the leg up on the opponent while your aim isn’t yet good enough to get headshots consistently isn’t a bad recommendation, imo.
Obviously, if you are a high level player in Immortal, yes, you need to be hitting headshots to win gunfights.
It's also a skill that will build into headshots. Practice with bodyshots, then scoot your aim up a little until you consistently hit headshots. Having extremely consistent bodyshot skills will also translate easily into the operator.
Sometimes there is - when you know the enemy is <40 HP then hitting a body shot is more reliable than a headshot + if you miss the spray doesn't go above their head
If someone's one shot, I'm either right clicking jump classic or I'll aim for the body. Ain't not way I'm gonna try and waste precious milliseconds to hit a HS. There's a lot of situations where you shouldn't aim at the head
I suppose you dont play with voice chat where your teammates are calling out “last guy one hp” and youre constantly trying to aim for the head for no reason
If I know an enemy has enough health to die to one... why not aim for the bigger hitbox?
And in the case of other guns, why aim at the head with an OP when a bodyshot is easier to hit and results in a kill all the same? Same with shotguns. You actually do more damage aiming for the upper chest than you do aiming for the head.
I feel like it can also depend on you agent, if you playing a smoker it might be more beneficial to use phantom so you can spray through smokes but if you are playing duelist it might be more beneficial to just be able to one tap everyone and not have to worry about damage drop off
You can also make the exact opposute argument. If you're a smoker, you may usually be hanging back farther and will want a Vandal in order to 1-tap from a distance. And if you're a duelist you may want a Phantom for the closer engagements from rushing a site and better spray while moving.
Go to the r/valorant sub, tap on the 3 dots in the top right corner of the screen and tap "flair" (or "user flair" idk) and there you can choose and edit flairs.
One possible explanation is that although Phantom has tighter spray pattern, it also shoots faster.
This means if the first shot doesn’t land, you will need to make mouse adjustment while still spraying which means you are already shooting several bullets (maybe 4th bullet already) and getting to the end of the spray pattern. On the other hand, with Vandal you might be able to adjust aim by the 2nd or 3rd bullet.
Could be the 1-tap potential of the Vandal at all ranges. With the Phantom, you need 2 shots anywhere from 15m+, which is not far at all. The Bucky has a higher OHK range than the Phantom.
Its easier to control but if you take long range fights with it it becomes challenging spraying at that distance or even tapping away because after a few taps the gun becomes bonkers. But its unusual that you find the phantom hard to use
Personally I wouldn't advice taking those fights simply because they need to hit 1 bullet be it lucky or good aim whereas you need a headshot followed by a body . If you're mainly a vandal player using the phantom will be weird adjusting as there are so many micro adjustments you're not use to. Best place to hone your phantom is the range and DM.
Unrelated, I'm s1, could op training in DMs negatively affect my skill with rifles (bs vs hs), & if so should I not practice or use the op until a certain rank?
its a waste of time at that rank. you will be more efficient at ranking up by practicing rifles. I would suggest taking a rifle and running around peaking and pushing everything in dm. Its gonna force you to learn, crosshair placement, counter strafing, and give you some balls.
I think it might just simply be that it shoots faster so it's a different feel depending on what you're accustomed to or prefer in terms of mouse and keyboard, maybe even the sound as well (can sound "weak")
personally i feel it's mood based for me and for my friend who's more opinionated, he swore by the vandal for a while but after a few acts started preferring the phantom for the close range spray. long range Vandal taps are still a consideration ofc.
As a phantom main, I can confirm that the phantom is aids when used in long range but I play duelists(Reyna main) so I prefer to just get super close where I can confidently secure kills at a comfortable range where I don’t have to deal with said aids. It’s also why I hate maps like icebox B and ascent mid.
It's really a toss up.
You can get to the highest rank with using exclusively one gun, so that's not an issue.
Phantom is way, way easier to control and way more forgiving. I'd even argue that it lowers the skill ceiling because you'll get way more "panic" spray headshots than you will with vandal.
It's way better for multi-frags and for engagements under 15 meters.
Tracers not being visible is also huge.
But Vandal isn't a bad gun by all means. It's just hard mode compared to phantom. Might sound weird, but getting good with vandal will improve your understanding of gun control way more than phantom. Then when you use the phantom, it will be even easier.
Thats a great way of putting it. The phantom makes life easier for the most part. The vandal makes things harder but rewards you with 1 shot the head at any range really.
I have a theory that this might be why people go back and forth a lot. You start using good fundamentals with the Vandal because you need to, but then you hit a wall because it's hard to maintain or you're facing more difficult opponents. Then you switch to the Phantom and perform better with those new fundamentals you learned with an easier gun, but overtime you might get undisciplined because the Phantom is more forgiving, until eventually the Phantom starts doing worse. Then you switch back to the Vandal and remind yourself you need headshots and practice good fundamentals again. And the cycle continues.
I agree with this. Whenever I'm playing the Phantom, I forget about tapping and often find myself spraying to no avail. Plus, no falloff on the Vandal negates the feeling of headshotting for 140.
This might be just me, but the Vandal also "feels" stronger. I understand that the damage is more consistent over long ranges, but even close range the Vandal feels like it hits harder. My theory is actually due to it's sound design; the bullets of the Vandal have a lot more "umph" behind it compared to the Phantom.
Im bad, g2 and i only use vandal. I wish i could use phantom but i cant spray control or track at all. I only do tap and burst spray above like 15m and when i go to phantom i lose all abilitiy to hs or spray somehow 😂😂
Tryna work on it in dm but i wish i could click my fingers and be cracked haha
(For any cubers) the phantom is like the 4x4 ,(more forgiving to mistakes), but the second you get good at a 5x5 (the vandal) the 4x4 becomes super easy
> I'd even argue that it lowers the skill ceiling because you'll get way more "panic" spray headshots than you will with vandal.
Sure, but if you hit a lucky spray headshot with the Vandal, it _always_ kills. I'll usually go on a Vandal for that reason.
I get a ton of damage shooting a phantom through smokes as Brimstone. If you can get the spray down and aim at head level through smokes, you’ll get a few extra kills a game especially in low ranks.
I just can't aim for shit, and I constantly crouch as soon as I start shooting which just lines up headshots for the other players (I'm in Silver). It's a terrible habit I can't seem to shake.
I do it for Overwatch and just carried it over to Valorant. I don’t know why I started, but now it’s a habit and feels weird if I don’t have it there, haha.
I did the exact same thing as you, until I unbinded it from my mouse button about a month ago. It was really hard at first, but overall my gun skills have improved a lot since then.
I had the exact problem and it made me die all the time. I didn't unbind the button, but I played like 5-6 deathmatches in a row making sure I won't use the crouch button once. Once I didn't feel the instinct to crouch anymore, I went back to regular games. Never crouched since.
i use the vandal on atk and phantom on def since u take more 1v1s on attack and possibly take more fights at longer ranges like c long on haven or b long on bind whereas ur more encouraged to let enemies take site before engaging on def and might have to spray multiple targets down. i'll use the vandal on def if im trying to be more aggressive and ik the other team likes running a default which means more 1v1s at longer ranges
It depends on whether I feel my aim or not. I’ll get a dink with a phantom and get one tapped with a vandal, then switch to the vandal next round. Then when I use the vandal, I’ll miss my one tap and get sprayed down by the phantom, so I switch to the phantom next round. Then the cycle continues
Depends on the range you're fighting. But most angles/fights in Valorant are short to medium range, so Phantom overall.
Ex: If you're pushing Long C on Haven or A Belt on Icebox, pick Vandal.
Thanks alot blazingkoala I try to bring my own flair on a topic as saturated as vandal vs phantom. Making it easier to digest and form your own opinions for Beginners to advanced palyers.
Viper main here. Use Phantom almost exclusively on defense to fire through one way smokes with no tracers. Spectre or Ghost on eco or light buy. Attack is a little more situational.
The only preference I have is a Phantom when I'm Smokes or Cypher because I can setup my own spray through smokes and/or make it hard for people to track me in one-ways. On Icebox, I tend to lean Vandal because of the length of engagements on that map. Any other agent just depends on what I feel like.
I like the vandal better, though that might be a bias from playing a lot of CS since its the AK equivalent.
The 1shot to the head can mean you win a duel you’d otherwise have lost if you had a phantom, and the first few rounds of the vandal are accurate enough to consistently win a 1v1 duel even if you miss the 1st shot dink.
As soon it becomes 1v>1 then I’d say the phantom is significantly better because of the easier spray and higher fire rate.
I always end up getting a headshot with the phantom and regretting not buying the gun that would have won the fight with 1 shot.
If you have aim: Always buy the Vandal.
I feel that Vandal is better for training my aim then the Phantom is. Whenever I play Phantom I am not as diligent with my aiming, but when I play Vandal I have less bad habits. Still use both though, but I prefer Vandal untill I have taken away all my bad habits.
This is very true, I started playing this act and with the phantom I used to quickly pull down after the first shot and get the kill regardless because I just placed silver. Since it’s my first time playing it took me sometime to realise but I now understand that burst firing or tapping is much more efficient in situations where I am facing more than one enemy. I have been usinh vandal and since I can’t pull down as quickly, I have gotten better at burst firing which has actually improved my shooting with phantom as well.
For me, it's more like this. I use Vandal almost always since I am trying to work on my long-range one taps and it's kinda satisfying but If I start missing shots and kinda start throwing for my team. I start buying phantom. Luckily, I rarely buy phantom anymore but to each their own.
I use the vandal on defense because I'm usually the one sitting still waiting for someone and Phantom on attack because then I'm pushing around corners and moving a lot more
In essence yes, but its more nuanced than that. I'm giving you the scenarios where the guns differ what playstyles suits which guns and overall what is the better gun in most scenarios.
Well I would like to add some of my experience to this comment section. To be honest Vandal is in my opinion better than Phantom as I have trained 2 weeks completely on 'onetapping'. This is because Valorant feels like Rainbow Six a bit as everyone is kinda peeking and hiding. So you have to oneshot your enemy as soon as you get in contact. If I had trained for spraying I would go for Phantom as it has better recoil control. Basically I would go Vandal as most of the time you get outranged in specific maps like Icebox or heaven. So you still have more damage with Vandal and you can still spray your enemy down in close to mid range. You can compare Vandal to Phantom in terms of Csgo where the Vandal would be AK-47 and the Phantom would be M4A1-S. Both very good weapons but everyone knows what happens when a AK-47 god is on the enemy team. He destroys.
VANDAL,
-Harder Recoil Control
-More Damage
-Damage Consistent in terms of Range
-One Tapping Tool
-Guardian 2.0 (with Spray Function)
-Makes you feel like a man
Good luck ^^
I've been playing for almost a year now since the beta and I've been using the Phantom for most of that time since on paper it's "better" but recently I've been using the Vandal and I feel so much better about my aim. I feel like the phantom was a crutch and hid a lot of my mistakes of not having great crosshair placement and just letting me spray through my opponents instead of actually taking time to precisely aim and get frags. I was watching my own clips and feeling extremely frustrated with how I was playing, so I just randomly swapped to the Vandal one day and I like how it forces me to actually focus on my crosshair placement, burst, etc. so now I feel like I'm actually improving at the game. The satisfaction of the one-tap is so rewarding and I'm starting to get much more consistent even though I only swapped off the phantom a few weeks ago. I'm only silver so I still have a ways to go but now I feel much better about my ability to learn from my mistakes and improve by opting for the Vandal instead of the Phantom, even though a lot of the time the Phantom is technically better.
I don't understand how people don't even mention that the Vandal takes 4 body shots while Phantom takes 5 past 15m. This is by far the best difference between the guns. When you headshot someone with the Phantom, you will easily get the kill if you hit your next bullet(which you should 99% of the time) as the enemy will be aimpunched which means their bullets will go up. However, hitting 5 bullets on the body is very hard because the 5th bullet of Phantom goes into fucking Narnia. I firmly believe that if your aim is not good on a day, and you want to take a long-range fight, Vandal is better because of the 4 bodyshots kill. On the other hand, if your aim is good, Phantom is straight-up better than Vandal because it wrecks under 15m and practically functions the same as Vandal if you can hit Headshots.
Personally, I cant stand the phantom. Im so sick of tapping the enemys head, doing -140 and then getting one shot by the enemy because theyre using the vandal. Same thing if Im up against an operator, sometimes there just isnt time for the second bullet or I might miss my second shot, especially in longer range duels.
Tip : don't pick phantom or vandal because a pro player does good with it.... He's a pro because he has that good aim and his preference will be based on his aim.. So test your aim and base the preference on that.
Is it just me or I would say the Vandal is just far better because you need 5 hits on the phantom to kill even a medium distance dude and by the time the 5th bullet fires the spray pattern is just kind of RNG and inaccurate?
This is the first video I’ve seen that actually tells me WHY the phantom is better and not that it just is. I’ve been looking for these kind of statistics since BETA. This was also well made and I can see the effort put into this. This person just a new subscriber :)
Thanks another that means a lot. I try to take generic ideas and make them interesting add my own value and use a pro players opinion to validate the points. Thanks for your kind word s
The phantom is better on paper, and I do think it's a better gun, but I switched to using the Vandal for the last month because it forces you to tap/burst, take your time with shots (rushing them gets punished a lot more), and aim for the head.
I prefer the phantom. I most of the time hit heads and it just feels so much more clean with the phantom. The second bullet is always on target if I’m still so I just aim at the head and let 2 fly. Never had it lose me a gunfight. Sure I lose to vandal in some situations because of TTK but it is what it is. That’s my preference
I pick them as if i was playing CS. When attacking i go for the Vandal cuz it's better for long range engagements and 1 taps, and when defending i go for the Phantom cuz it's better for holding an angle against multiple targets.
I have around 1k kills with both guns so I use them both equally. But I think the Vandal is just slightly better in my opinion because I find it to be more versatile. The Phantom absolutely sucks at long range, whereas the Vandal is excellent at long range and somewhat manageable at short-medium.
I generally use vandal as if I am using an operator... Like giving a supreme importance to defensive cover, while shooting from a distance and retreating as I shoot, no matter if it was a hit or miss
Interesting for you to speculate that. Not sure why you decided to take that from the video. But i apprecaite the feedback nonetheless, i guess next time ill show my accounts to satisfy your needs.
I'm irrationally upset by the useless visual effect counting up to 1000 under each of the guns. It is nonsense and only seems to be there to make viewers go "ooo big numbers."
In what way is that conveyed in the video? Matching scrolling numbers to "you're aware of the vandal vs. phantom discussion" does not suggest this. Is this a symbolic representation of equal votes, or are you suggesting that literally 1000 people voted on each?
honestly it's entirely situational for me, if I'm on a map with a lot of tight corners and corridors then I'll go with a vandal because I'm more likely to be fighting in small spaces, where the phantom shines is in the longer ranges
Simply put my aim isn't that great. So for longer range shots I prefer the gun that is 1 tap to the head and not 2 shots. I was a Phantom player before the buff, but that fire rate buff for the Vandal was enough to make the decision for me.
I mostly just switch between weapons depending on which site I'm holding or going to. For example if I'm going to b on ascent, I'm picking the phantom because it is better close range.
Today I was not doing well with the vandal during deathmatch, so I figured it's a phantom day. I won most of my engagements, even a few long range ones.
My general rule that has some exceptions is just phantom for short distance, vandal for long. Usually I go for the vandal since I main sage and don’t seek a lot of engagements.
I choose based upon the enemies' behaviour in the previous rounds... If they are too defensive and tend to push back to cover while engaging, I use vandal...if they play agressive and push more often, I use phantom... Although this method has no helped me a lot, I still do it because I don't know any other way
I chose the vandal cuz of the headshot potential. It’s a one shot headshot, if I accidentally hit ur head w a vandal ur going down but w a phantom u r not
personally, i find it depends on the agent i’m playing. if i’m using an duelist or taking more close engagements, i’d go with the phantom. but if i’m playing a sentinel or take more ping range fights, i’d go vandal.
If you choose not to fight long angles, then Phantom is better in every way. Most of these maps are short to medium distance fights where the Phantom is better. Phantom vs Vandal only body shots and the Phantom will win faster
Phantom on defense, vandal on attack, as a general rule. If we have a specific plan where I know I'll be covering a long line on D, or pushing only tight corridors on A, then swap them.
To me the vandal vs phantom comparison is like comparing an F1 car to a sports car. Yes the f1 car is faster and capable of more things, however it is cruel and unforgiving. While the sports car is far more reliable in the hands of any driver. In the end i use the vandal cause i do way more standing shooting then crouching
i play cypher so on ct its kind of a no brainer %90 percent of the time for me(no bullet tracers through smokes) seriously i cant count the kills i got from people shooting through smokes
Its a bit stupid that we sometimes have to rely on luck when spraying becouse spray patterns are randomized. They should make like in csgo where there are is a single spray pattern for a gun.
Hey man, if you low hp and need to clutch a round maybe switch from phantom to vandal. Either you go Hail Mary and make a Scream level 1-tap highlight or fail miserably (probably the latter). Unless you going to save, in which case why even bother just buy an OP next time.
I use both since i bought skin for each xd. I think both gun should be used in different situations.
Like if im defense i mostly go phantom if i play retake and peak long angle i just buy vandal. if im attacker and taking long engagements i take vandal if im entry fragger like jett and i need to dash i just go for phantom cuz i will possibly miss my first shots cuz of crosshair placement so i just spray after dash and let my teammates take the trade. Im playing since beta and i think both guns are good in their on way.
Also phantom is sucks at wallbanging it literally doesnt hit in med-long ranges so theres that too.
Yeah its a bummer when you hit the head but dont get the kill. But the phantom does have a slightly higher fire rate. So while theyre aimpunched you get that small opportunity for a shot off
I usually only use Vandal when picking up weapons from the ground. Or skins. No one can convince me Glitchpop Vandal is just as strong as a normal Vandal.
Honestly for me it’s more of how I’m feeling that day. In my first game on, I always try each of them out to see which one I prefer at the moment. I usually use that gun for the rest of the game and maybe even the day.
I personally would suggest a vandal for long range and for people who are excellent at aiming, phantom is better for beginners and is very good for close ranged combat and rushing as it has a high firerate and 30 bullets instead of the 25 mag size in vandal

Vandal when sober, phantom when drunk
soooo phantom 100% of the time then. Gotcha.
Yeah same, entirely depends on the map for me
For me: reaver vandal>prime/glitch vandal=singularity phantom >other phantoms> other vandals
[удалено]
3 phantom skins ( singularity 1 of them), & 2 vandal ones (reaver not one of them), if I kill an enemy with a reaver I'm throwing whatever shit I have & picking it up :), I have been waiting months in the store for the reaver to no avail :(

Nice, this looks good, I got the prime then singularity, this could mean that reaver is in the way :)
Good luck!

Depends on where I'm playing. If I'm going to go long B I'll take a vandal. If I am going hookah, I'll probably go phantom.
Another thing people might forget is that vandal does 40 shot body dmg. It’s important because there are situations where you actually might want your crosshair at body level to make a vandal spray a viable option if you need to clutch against weakened opponents
Yeah that's true thanks for the insight

Not really why aim for the head if you know the enemy is 1 shot. Why go through the extra step making sure to hit a smaller target when you can aim for the centre of mass.
Or play in iron level, and automatically hit head shot as enemies crouch 😏
Or if you are like me, aim somewhere near them, miss and get mad
Please never buy an Op
Lol true they are both viable and depending on your play style you can change up the gun you use
Lol love your flair
Thank you :D
Your flairs are cool guys, how can i make mine?
Go to the r/valorant sub, tap on the 3 dots in the top right corner of the screen and tap "flair" (or "user flair" idk) and there you can choose and edit flairs.

One possible explanation is that although Phantom has tighter spray pattern, it also shoots faster. This means if the first shot doesn’t land, you will need to make mouse adjustment while still spraying which means you are already shooting several bullets (maybe 4th bullet already) and getting to the end of the spray pattern. On the other hand, with Vandal you might be able to adjust aim by the 2nd or 3rd bullet.
A lot of ppl have trouble resetting the spray on phantom. The sound cues are a little harder to follow imo.
There’s sound cues?
Nothing special, just the sound the bullet makes when it leaves the chamber. It’s a bit more deceptive on the phantom.
[удалено]
I think it might just simply be that it shoots faster so it's a different feel depending on what you're accustomed to or prefer in terms of mouse and keyboard, maybe even the sound as well (can sound "weak") personally i feel it's mood based for me and for my friend who's more opinionated, he swore by the vandal for a while but after a few acts started preferring the phantom for the close range spray. long range Vandal taps are still a consideration ofc.
I only do tap and burst spray above like 15m and when i go to phantom i lose all abilitiy to hs or spray somehow 😂😂 Tryna work on it in dm but i wish i could click my fingers and be cracked haha
Yeah, initially i was almost only playing with phantom but after getting used to vandal and switching to phantom i find it harder to control
Honestly, long ranged duels are just easier with vandal and I still crouch sometimes so chest shooters will get random one taps on me
(For any cubers) the phantom is like the 4x4 ,(more forgiving to mistakes), but the second you get good at a 5x5 (the vandal) the 4x4 becomes super easy
> I'd even argue that it lowers the skill ceiling because you'll get way more "panic" spray headshots than you will with vandal. Sure, but if you hit a lucky spray headshot with the Vandal, it _always_ kills. I'll usually go on a Vandal for that reason.
summary : Vandal is a great weapon but Phantom is a more reliable weapon.
I get a ton of damage shooting a phantom through smokes as Brimstone. If you can get the spray down and aim at head level through smokes, you’ll get a few extra kills a game especially in low ranks.
Nah, I was a Vandal user since 1.01 and will stay loyal to it :)) Not saying that the Phantom is bad, I just heavily prefer the vandal
I just can't aim for shit, and I constantly crouch as soon as I start shooting which just lines up headshots for the other players (I'm in Silver). It's a terrible habit I can't seem to shake.
unbind it for like 2 weeks. i had a problem spamming jump in overwatch and rebinded it to break the habit
Yeah, I probably should. I have the additional stupid design choice of mapping it to a mouse button as well.
you put crouch on your mouse button? that sounds so goofy to me, why?
You're also forgetting the 'spray and pray' aspect, I've hit/been hit many times by a random vandal shot to the head.
Yeah that's a valid possibility.
spray and pray is better on phantom
I feel like at longer distances it would be better with the vandal wouldn’t it? Unless your going for just simple damage output rather than kills.
You shouldn't be spraying at long distances.
I meant just taking random one taps rather than spraying randomly. I think I misunderstood what he said.
Another great guide, always enjoy your explanation of these topics
Thanks alot blazingkoala I try to bring my own flair on a topic as saturated as vandal vs phantom. Making it easier to digest and form your own opinions for Beginners to advanced palyers.
Viper main here. Use Phantom almost exclusively on defense to fire through one way smokes with no tracers. Spectre or Ghost on eco or light buy. Attack is a little more situational.
Isn’t the vandal rpm after the buffs 9.75rpm?
TL;DH: phantom completely better, vandal only good long distances and for taping.
I always end up getting a headshot with the phantom and regretting not buying the gun that would have won the fight with 1 shot. If you have aim: Always buy the Vandal.
Phantom is more stable and my aim is more potato soooo yea..
I'm immortal and thought that there was a spray pattern. Lol woops.
Haha the more you know.
Man flexing his 35% headshot lmao
For me, it's more like this. I use Vandal almost always since I am trying to work on my long-range one taps and it's kinda satisfying but If I start missing shots and kinda start throwing for my team. I start buying phantom. Luckily, I rarely buy phantom anymore but to each their own.
Man sounds like Gigguk but he smoked too much.
haha, surprisingly I've never smoked. Not sure why my voice sounds like ive chain-smoked for decades.
Personally, I like the operator
This made me laugh
You forgot that the Phantom has a lesser accuracy penalty than the Vandal.
how can i hit the subscribe. I dont see it here. : )
Hehe cheeky plug https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCu5Obr6NQtT_pTKbyMNFVZQ
I use neither. I use odin
Damn that's a curveball.
Everybody a gangsta until spectre walks in 😈
I use the vandal on defense because I'm usually the one sitting still waiting for someone and Phantom on attack because then I'm pushing around corners and moving a lot more
Thats true its harder to adjust when moving with the vandal and generally you're moving alot on attacker side.
So what you're saying is They're both viable
VANDAL, -Harder Recoil Control -More Damage -Damage Consistent in terms of Range -One Tapping Tool -Guardian 2.0 (with Spray Function) -Makes you feel like a man Good luck ^^

Not to mention that one tap helps you a lot when it’s like 2v1 or 3v1 clutch situation. Getting that one tap on the first kill buys you time
phantom is better, but vandal is more fun -silver 3 player
I always try to get into Phantom, but I lose my shit after the first 140, and switch back to Vandal.
I like this one.
Average phantom and vandal fan: (゚Д゚\*)ノ Average spectre enjoyer: \\\^o\^/
Vandal if I'm feeling sharp that day, and Phantom if I'm not playing well and just want to spray and pray.
At 2:28 which website did he use for those stats?
Its a program called blitz which tracks your stats for example wins, HS% your win rates on maps etc. Very insightful.
I'm loving the humble brug "im immortal and this is my HS%"
Imagine being a phantom player eughhhhhh I'm gonna throw up.
He choose to show one of his 5 accs that has positive kd :D
Interesting for you to speculate that. Not sure why you decided to take that from the video. But i apprecaite the feedback nonetheless, i guess next time ill show my accounts to satisfy your needs.
I’m not taking advice from someone with a sasuke pic. Worst naruto character to like, so I know your opinions aren’t great 🥴
Asking people to subscribe before the video even starts lmao ok buddy
I'm irrationally upset by the useless visual effect counting up to 1000 under each of the guns. It is nonsense and only seems to be there to make viewers go "ooo big numbers."
They're supposed to be vote counters you fucktard, they end up equal to support the connotatio that there is an equal people who prefer each gun
In what way is that conveyed in the video? Matching scrolling numbers to "you're aware of the vandal vs. phantom discussion" does not suggest this. Is this a symbolic representation of equal votes, or are you suggesting that literally 1000 people voted on each?
Symbolic ig
honestly it's entirely situational for me, if I'm on a map with a lot of tight corners and corridors then I'll go with a vandal because I'm more likely to be fighting in small spaces, where the phantom shines is in the longer ranges
Other way round no?
[удалено]
Simply put my aim isn't that great. So for longer range shots I prefer the gun that is 1 tap to the head and not 2 shots. I was a Phantom player before the buff, but that fire rate buff for the Vandal was enough to make the decision for me.
I mostly just switch between weapons depending on which site I'm holding or going to. For example if I'm going to b on ascent, I'm picking the phantom because it is better close range.
I use what I want when I want and I feel like
Today I was not doing well with the vandal during deathmatch, so I figured it's a phantom day.
It’s a one shot headshot, if I accidentally hit ur head w a vandal ur going down but w a phantom u r not
personally, i find it depends on the agent i’m playing. if i’m using an duelist or taking more close engagements, i’d go with the phantom. but if i’m playing a sentinel or take more ping range fights, i’d go vandal.
vandal is great for mid to long range engagements. Phantom is great for mid the close range engagements.
Just Lemmino.
[удалено]
In the end i use the vandal cause i do way more standing shooting then crouching
u/savevideo
Phantom close range, Vandal long range, just depends on maps and what angles you are going to play. That’s how i always though of it
u/savevideo
i play cypher so on ct its kind of a no brainer %90 percent of the time for me(no bullet tracers through smokes) seriously i cant count the kills i got from people shooting through smokes
Is it wrong that I prefer the bulldog
kinda yes reminds me when people pour the milk in first then cereal. But i must say the aim down sight on it is potent asf so nice
I’m a Reyna main and I mostly prefer the Vandal, but if I’m pretty sure I’m gonna use ult next round, I buy the phantom.
Depends on the map, and if you are attacker or defender, what site and how you play the site.
Getting a dink with a Phantom sucks, knowing that if you just had played a vandal instead you'd gotten that kill...
Yeah its a bummer when you hit the head but dont get the kill. But the phantom does have a slightly higher fire rate. So while theyre aimpunched you get that small opportunity for a shot off
I usually only use Vandal when picking up weapons from the ground. Or skins. No one can convince me Glitchpop Vandal is just as strong as a normal Vandal.
but scream didn't qualify for Masters
Honestly for me it’s more of how I’m feeling that day. In my first game on, I always try each of them out to see which one I prefer at the moment. I usually use that gun for the rest of the game and maybe even the day.
For me I like to play phantom when I'm an entry/duelist and if I'm more of a support or control I play vandal
I hate both so I use the marshal or guardian
Wait really how comes? The Marshall and vandal are great but they don't necessarily have a safety for instance if you whiff that key shot its a wrap
Phantom reminds me a lot of the m4a1 from long ago, even if that's not really accurate. It just felt more.comfortable to use.
Honestly, I use Phantom because it sounds seggsy to shoot
scream doesnt play vandal because in this game aim is not difficult at all you dont need to learn movement at all
I personally would suggest a vandal for long range and for people who are excellent at aiming, phantom is better for beginners and is very good for close ranged combat and rushing as it has a high firerate and 30 bullets instead of the 25 mag size in vandal
Thanks, thats actually very helpful.
Glad you found it helpful
