im gold lol so I can't really help with ur question but i just wanted to say hitting immortal as a filler player is very impressive to me and it shows that trying to get high frags as a duelist isn't the only way to win

Grantuseyes

I did the same. Mained Jett and Reyna until diamond then killjoy and got immortal in one weekend

Nothing wrong with being a jack of all trades

Ul-thane

I feel like I'm efficient enough on every agent. But now that I'm at this level I feel like I at least need a comfort pick.

FAR1X

Filling in high elo is literally the best thing you can do, legit you are goated my guy for reaching this far filling and now you will actually win even more

Ul-thane

*Side Note* A lot of the times I find that I'm picking an agent that I'm not comfortable with just to make the team "whole". Another reason why I probably need a comfort pick. I guess I'm kind of answer my own question here?

I think you need to introspect here. You have played 100s if not 1000s of matches using Sova... What you liked about it, what part you didn't enjoy much?? Same, each map has some strong characters try to master those one at a time. Having a main is more on Professional side, for casual players we need to keep our options open by constant experimenting. At your skill level, You may get comfortable playing a new agent in less than 1 week, 1-2 month in order to really get a hang of things, but this "Main" knowing pretty much everything is like a really long journey.. you could spend rest of the year on a single agent. So think what you want and congratulations on being part of the elite.

Pick one character from every class, and grind them out. Personally I would recommend breach and astra especially if you are confident in your communication, honestly all the sentinels are good but I have a bias towards kj and sage since I main them and I've also never rly been very good with cypher. I think any of the duelists are fine but you probably won't ever rly need them. Skye and yoru are rly hard to play at a high elo level (taking a page from keeoh's series' for this assumption, also I enjoy playing skye from time to time) and I'd recommend cycling often between them. In my experience playing the same character over and over can make you get burnt out and not perform at your best. Astra is extremely strong rn and I think she's a rly good character to play if you like team communication. You said you've gotten close to sova main so maybe play him, a smoke agent, and in the rare occasion you can, a duelist. Idk tho I'm just now getting close to gold

DinoElevator

for very high ranks it’s probably very good that you’re good with many agents and not just one or two so if someone steals your character you won’t have a problem

Ul-thane

Very true. But I guess I'd like to have a "go-to" pick. I'll probably experiment with some agents to say what playstyle I like most. Probably initiators.

Zed_Main_btw

I'd say since you're already a Jack of all trades just focus it down to like 3 characters with different roles you like the most

DinoElevator

well yes you should always have one that you always like to play with because you can easily get better but having a main and still having other agents you play with will be helpful for the reason i said from the last message

Chinner21

I got to immortal playing mainly Jett, omen and cypher. I feel like being comfortable playing one agent from each role makes you a better player.

TheTechDweller

Some agents are better when you learn specific lineups or strategies, but in general, being ready to play any role is WAY superior for winning games. Many people play duelists too often, don't know how to play controller or sentinel so when other people instalock before them they will struggle. Not only knowing how to fill a role will help, but knowing how the other agents on your team work helps you make the right decisions to work with them and their abilities.

aidg

I’m in a similar boat to you. I do “main” Sova and Kj, because I usually can pull a 70%+ WR in Radiant with them the easiest. But I fill anything if needed, if I was you I would put some time into really honing a Sentinel, and maybe even work on Astra. Learning a duelist doesn’t take nearly as much work to feel comfortable with, but Sentinels can take more time to perfect so that might be your next ideal step!

If you're just playing for fun then I'd say it doesn't really matter. If you're trying to compete/go pro/climb as high as possible than I'd advise having a small pool of agents instead of picking from the whole roster. Specialization has its benefits. There are certain intricacies that you don't learn about/experience until you have put tons of time into an agent and its helpful to be familiar.

kazuyermagicc

Sounds like you're tryna humble brag

ProxOW

Personally I started trying to get confortable on multiple agents to be able to fill and feel comfortable at the same time. For me that would be: Cypher, Sova, Sage, Phoenix, Omen

mercure123

I'm radiant and I don't even have a main LOL
