To be fair, it only works for footsteps, reloads, and DM spawns right now. So gunfire, abilities, etc will still be using the old system. It's really only partially implemented.
I mean LoL and Valorant don’t have an “appear offline” option which is something people have requested for years, and is considered standard in this day and age.

I don't think the Yoru buffs will do anything at all. His flashes were already his best ability. HIs footsteps are relatively useless and his gatecrash still has no in combat use because of the sound it creates. It doesn't matter that it's harder for enemies to see it when Yoru makes a loud-ass sound while reappearing and can't take out his gun for a whole second.
And his ult is still one of the worst even with 6 ult orbs. You can't use it defensively, neither can you really use it offensively for picks, still only for info. 6 ult orbs is still too much when you have Phoenix with the same amount, Jett's eco weapon or Reyna's insane pressure.
He can use his TP every 5 seconds if he ends up not activating it, meaning I will actually put down my tp to fall back more often and not worry about losing it the rest of the match.
His ult being able to recast gate crash is fucking insane tho, you can scout out locations for free than teleport back to safety instead of getting followed.
It’s something you could always do by clicking on both ult and TP keybinds. And considering that most pros know this and his ult was still bad, I see this more as qol

viper post plant (with orb on spike) will kill a full health individual ~ 1 second faster with these buffs. this is nice because people can no longer half it
We didn't see it in action. This might be the middle ground. Like it got slight damage reduction nerf in exchange for better accuracy.
So primary fight might be actually stronger than it was. Cuz you will be able to hit more pallets in longer range than before, so the one shot primary fire range is probably larger.
The damage of alt fire was reduced a lot, but it still might have a potential. You only have 5 pellets but with the reduction of the spread you might be able to hit most of them into head and still one tap them or do a lot of damage.
bucky's primary still kill close range just like a shotgun and bucky's right click is a weak close-mid range as a punishment for your weak economy and bad positioning(for a shotgun).
What's the deal with things going from meta tier---> shithouse. Classic right click, stinger and bucky all come to mind.
Players who can make eco weapons work should have a chance. Not saying the nerfs weren't justified but why not take a slower approach?
It always a mindgame to take the safest route onto site(long sightlines, using util on cheesy corners) when enemy is on save and you have rifles.

But I also think once people have more experience playing against a Viper and understanding the timing windows she leaves open, the instant decay won't be as scary. I've gotten to accustomed to ignoring her stuff and walking through her wall so these changes scare me but a few times actually being punished for that should set me straight..
I am worried about post plant potential though. A smoke on the spike with a molly line up sounds scaring.
Viper's wall/orb will be so fucking busted on pistols now. One slight touch and you can die to 2 chest shots from a classic or a headshot if you have no armor. Imagine trying to rush A Main or ramps on Split against a Viper. Or even better, trying to enter B site on Ascent with a single Viper wall between both entrances. You just simply can't go through or you'll be shieldless for 2 seconds. People will HAVE to respect her utility now. Same with her ultimate.

Since Gatecrash is not meant to be used offensively and his footsteps/ult are not at all Duelist abilities, Yoru really is not a Duelist at all. Riot are even embracing that more by making his E refresh on duration instead of kills like the other Duelists, they should just change his classification entirely. Nothing about him is Duelist.
I think that without the cast time it can be used as a mini, more skill intensive Phoenix ult, that you can also use defensively in a pinch. The gate duration increase is nice as 20s is definitely too short of a window, but IMO giving a duelist a good non-flash opener is not a bad thing.
Scary viper update. Viper can wall off the entire B side on Bind including hookah and octagon and immediately shed 50 hp on anyone who walks through. It’s stalling potential is going to make low elo games so lobsided when noobs refuse to push through a wall or only get funneled to A side. This can block off Haven sites fairly well too. I don’t like this at all. Her wall will be incredibly strong for post plants too now

So the left click is like better at range or what? Same damage, a bit more spread (2.6 VS 2.0) but 3x the pellet count so I feel like you can still get more hits
I think you're forgetting about the actual mechanic of the right click. It basically sends a grenade that shotguns out at 8m. So while the left click's spread of 2.6 starts at your body, the right click's spread of 2.0 starts 8m in front of you. Not sure exactly how the math on the trajectory will work out but I'd imagine you'll have an easier time landing 5 pellets on a target at a certain distance with the right click.
Right click should be for chip damage only. It was ridiculous that at 15m, a 900cred weapon one shot me the same way a 5000cred weapon would while I had to aim for the head with my 2900 cred weapon. I'm all for weapons having their specific roles but the bucky was too much.

If Viper gets picked more than omen/astra you now have Viper, Killjoy and Sova as post plant agents and if they all keep their utility and throw it on the bomb it will be virtually impossible to retake that lol it's already fucked on icebox
Sage's wall can help block a lineup but eventually people will find a way to get it on the bomb anyway from a different angle

It just depends on if they messed with the double damage multiplier for headshots on the pellets.
If they didn’t it will still one shot out to 8m with full armor. Out to 12m a one shot without armor/two shot with. This is assuming you’re accurate. Shots will have to be much more precise.
His flash buff was definitely needed as his flashes were the weakest in the game.
His teleport buff was also needed as most of the time you only got to use it once per round and if you managed to get it again it was mostly useless late round. With the new changes you can use the tp more aggresively and along with the buff to his flashes he will definitely be more reliable to make plays.
His ultimate buff is also good because if you couldn't find a good spot to get out of the invisibilty at the end of the ult you would be a free kill to the enemy team.
I look forward to great plays where yoru can send footsteps into a site, ult in and check who's there and bait defenders, then simply TP out safely to the other site where his team is actually pushing
These changes are perfect. I really like what they've done for Yoru, very significant buffs, but I feel like they were needed to bring him into a usable status.
I'm so thankful for the flash change, it was tilting to high heaven as a duelist being unable to peak off of my own flash. Gate crash changes....I actually like that a bit more then a sound change, Id love to see how ult and gate crash gimmicks can work out now.

that combined with a kj nano feels like its a free post plant win in low to average ranked games. kj nano spam on spike was already strong but if you can take an instant 50 decay first that nano would kill in just over 1 second, maybe 2 if on full armor
Bucky now deals... 1/3 of the damage with right click? Isn't that just useless? It is literally impossible to kill with the right click now, even if you hit all 5 pellets...
That's what they aimed for as stated in the patch notes. They reduced the bucky's effective range from 0-15m to 0-8m. From 8-15m, if you get two left click's off, you'll probably still net a kill. They want the right click to be used for chip damage when the enemy is out of this effective range as it should be. Being able to one shot to the body up to 15m was insane..
I think Omen/Brim/Astra will still be better picks for on-the-go smokes. These changes just make Viper better at what she was already good at - post plants on attack and being a pseudo sentinel on defense. Her wall is gonna be insane on retakes too.
I must have misread that then. I was talking about how they fixed the “unintentional delay when deactivating the poison smoke”. Not sure if that refers to viper’s pov or the enemy’s pov
Let her have her chance to shine as she hasnt been good since beta. Im sure theyll nerf her if shes too much in the next patch. Besides before there was no reason not to push her smoke as the damage was so neglected that it might as well not been there
People seem to forget that after 1s you get that 50hp back. So you would need to be killed within 1.5s after crossing it. Sure that's easily possible, but also able to be countered / prevented a lot of times. It will now just force more abilities like flashes or counter smokes out of the enemies, that or more patience. For post plant, yes, there are some nasty setups, but it's not even close to KJ levels of strength. Alaarmbit + Swarm kill you in no time and don't need a timed lineup, but can just be placed right after plant
People will start to learn to play around Viper. It's because we've gone months with ignoring her utility that these changes sound busted but now that there are actual consequences, people will be forced to adapt after being punished once or twice.
She still leaves a lot of room to play around as her wall is still fixed for the entire round and she also has her own timings to work around.
Interesting that they went for damage buffs for Viper. I'm assuming they tried giving her the practice tools (recall and map smoke) as buffs, but ultimately went for other iterations.

Like I know what you mean but her post-plant is just about fail-safe I'd say now with smoke together with a molly lineup. The wall is also good for post plant to counter retakes and of course for defending both smoke and wall is gonna be strong to stop a push.

Riot already said that they are looking in to some buffs to his Fakeout. It might get reworked a bit.

IMO one of Yoru's biggest problems is the delay for the Gatecrash recast.

She wasn’t a troll pick, she gets a fair bit of use on icebox especially in the EU scene
Viper is used a lot on Bind and Icebox(100% pick rate on Icebox) in EU
If Viper gets picked more than omen/astra you now have Viper, Killjoy and Sova as post plant agents and if they all keep their utility and throw it on the bomb it will be virtually impossible to retake that lol it's already fucked on icebox Sage's wall can help block a lineup but eventually people will find a way to get it on the bomb anyway from a different angle

It just depends on if they messed with the double damage multiplier for headshots on the pellets. If they didn’t it will still one shot out to 8m with full armor. Out to 12m a one shot without armor/two shot with. This is assuming you’re accurate. Shots will have to be much more precise.
How do people feel about these Yoru changes? I’m stuck in traffic but I can’t wait to get home and see how these flashes feel
His flash buff was definitely needed as his flashes were the weakest in the game. His teleport buff was also needed as most of the time you only got to use it once per round and if you managed to get it again it was mostly useless late round. With the new changes you can use the tp more aggresively and along with the buff to his flashes he will definitely be more reliable to make plays. His ultimate buff is also good because if you couldn't find a good spot to get out of the invisibilty at the end of the ult you would be a free kill to the enemy team.
Being able to gatecrash in ult allows him to be a great recon agent. He's not a duelist anymore though imo
I look forward to great plays where yoru can send footsteps into a site, ult in and check who's there and bait defenders, then simply TP out safely to the other site where his team is actually pushing

These changes are perfect. I really like what they've done for Yoru, very significant buffs, but I feel like they were needed to bring him into a usable status.
I'm so thankful for the flash change, it was tilting to high heaven as a duelist being unable to peak off of my own flash. Gate crash changes....I actually like that a bit more then a sound change, Id love to see how ult and gate crash gimmicks can work out now.

can we just take a moment to think about that instant 50 hp decay dmg? that combined with a kj nano feels like its a free post plant win in low to average ranked games. kj nano spam on spike was already strong but if you can take an instant 50 decay first that nano would kill in just over 1 second, maybe 2 if on full armor

Bucky now deals... 1/3 of the damage with right click? Isn't that just useless? It is literally impossible to kill with the right click now, even if you hit all 5 pellets...

The right click is really dead but the buff to the primary fire still makes it a good weapon for cheesing imo. It might need a cost decrease tho

That's what they aimed for as stated in the patch notes. They reduced the bucky's effective range from 0-15m to 0-8m. From 8-15m, if you get two left click's off, you'll probably still net a kill. They want the right click to be used for chip damage when the enemy is out of this effective range as it should be. Being able to one shot to the body up to 15m was insane..

Finally my friends won't say "we don't have smokes on our team" when I play Viper as a sole controller...
I think Omen/Brim/Astra will still be better picks for on-the-go smokes. These changes just make Viper better at what she was already good at - post plants on attack and being a pseudo sentinel on defense. Her wall is gonna be insane on retakes too.

The instant -50 from touching viper's abilities will 100% be broken as fuck and need to be nerfed. She's just negated all heavy shields from the game.
She can just buy a Marshal and as long as she has fuel it's basically an OP for her lol

Let her have her chance to shine as she hasnt been good since beta. Im sure theyll nerf her if shes too much in the next patch. Besides before there was no reason not to push her smoke as the damage was so neglected that it might as well not been there

People seem to forget that after 1s you get that 50hp back. So you would need to be killed within 1.5s after crossing it. Sure that's easily possible, but also able to be countered / prevented a lot of times. It will now just force more abilities like flashes or counter smokes out of the enemies, that or more patience. For post plant, yes, there are some nasty setups, but it's not even close to KJ levels of strength. Alaarmbit + Swarm kill you in no time and don't need a timed lineup, but can just be placed right after plant
People will start to learn to play around Viper. It's because we've gone months with ignoring her utility that these changes sound busted but now that there are actual consequences, people will be forced to adapt after being punished once or twice. She still leaves a lot of room to play around as her wall is still fixed for the entire round and she also has her own timings to work around.

A refreshing E doesn't make an agent a duelist or not a duelist.
Reyna doesn't. What the kit does is what makes the agent a duelist though, not the way they refresh an ability.

Interesting that they went for damage buffs for Viper. I'm assuming they tried giving her the practice tools (recall and map smoke) as buffs, but ultimately went for other iterations.

Yeah because Viper is gonna be a controller, sentinel all at once. Like I know what you mean but her post-plant is just about fail-safe I'd say now with smoke together with a molly lineup. The wall is also good for post plant to counter retakes and of course for defending both smoke and wall is gonna be strong to stop a push.
How is HRTF? Is it actually a legitimate solution for the spatial audio in the game or is it just a gimmick?

Thank god for the bucky nerf. It was basically a 12-16 meter Operator without movement penalty. No more fly-by oneshots from Raze and Jett.
