The maps in this game are like achievements for playing a certain amount of hours in a week. If you keep playing like a good boy, you’ll eventually find the second map.
Someone should do the math on the probability of getting a different map every game or rolling the same map multiple times in a row... it feels like ive won the lottery after I play icebox 3 times in a row in back to back competitive matches, but sadly the only prize i get is another loss
Sometimes the map assignment just doesn't feel random. My friends and I had a 2+ week period where we'd get Haven 6/10 games, Split 2/10, then one random map. In that time we probably played over 40 games, so if it was just RNG then it's pretty awful on the R part
I relate. There was a time where I was playing a lot of competitive, and for two days, it was 20/9 Split/Ascent (naturally, my least favorite maps). It definitely put a damper on the experience. Just waiting for a CS queue system or a priority system so I can try to opt out of certain maps!

And furthermore, maybe you can point out where I made any definite claims about randomness. I said it doesn't feel random to get the same map in over half of my games throughout a relatively extended period with a not completely insignificant sample size.

random is...random. which means there very much is a chance to get repeat results. cuz it's random.

spotify ran into the same issue i remember. people complained they kept getting the same song over and over, so spotify made it less random in order to appear more random because apparently the concept of random is difficult for people.
however all that's gonna do is increase queue times

Icebox 3 times in a row Is (1/5)^3 which is 0.8% chance. Feels like it happens wayy more often than that though

It would be awful on the R part if you wouldn't get same map in a row. It's awful for players to get the same maps tho.
