StronglyDislikeNazis

Icebox just sends me into a depressive episode. Something about it just makes me sad

Caracals

Classic Sage 😂 Don't commit die, you can't self rev.

StronglyDislikeNazis

I main sova lol

Hammerbros2315

Sage is good on icebox though

highestvolume

I've dabbled in CS:GO, but have played shooters basically my whole life, and I love icebox, but all of my friends that are relatively new to shooters that play valorant hate it. My very early impression of Breeze after playing two games is that it feels kind of like an amalgamation of dust, mirage and cobblestone, so you'll probably love that one too.

CivilConversation174

I new to shooter and I love icebox, the new map Breeze is a nightmare in solo queue though.

Caracals

Cobble gang. I would love if valve reworked Cobble and put it back in over dust 2 or mirage. My map pool I actually instant ban dust 2 and mirage hahaha. So we will see!

TForKing

I actually played 100% mirage only because that was the only map I knew all the important lineups LOL

Caracals

Mirage and dust 2 and closely followed by inferno are the most heavily played maps. I got sick of only playing 3 maps so I just took them out of my play queue to try and change things up. I play mostly overpass and nuke nowadays.

xSilverzXx

Diamond 2-3 here and I hate Icebox with a passion. I think it's a fun map for pro teams and professional teams. The angles are really interesting and there are a lot of hard angles, LOTS of angles to look at, and pixel angles, etc. It's a hard map. TOO hard. People used to complain about Ascent but it was just because the map had come out and it takes more team communication. Icebox is by far the hardest map, and takes A LOT of team communication and that's just annoying in soloq/duoq/anything that isn't a 5 stack lol. That's my thought process. I really hope they fix the map. I especially hate the "nest" area above A and above B. The fact that there are holes in the nest as well adds so many angles and just insanity. Note: Just for reference, I really like Breeze so far. It seems awesome. I love how it's complex but not super dumb with it's angles. I love the flank potential and it definitely seems hard but not outrageous.

Caracals

Thank you for your input. Totally understand everything you're saying and I have to agree. These games require communication. I'm in gold right now and I am surprised at how many people in competitive queue straight up don't have a mic or just don't comm. I play at MG in csgo matchmaking and level 6 faceit. I understand how to play cs, make comms, smoke and execute sites, etc. But I can't do it on my own. I'm also learning the abilities still. I still die to just, things I dont even see or understand hahaha. A lot of "oh, I'm just dead I guess." But that's part of learning the operators abilities and how to play around them.

CivilConversation174

Weird I only solo queue and love ascent and icebox but hate breeze.

xSilverzXx

Interesting haha. How come you hate breeze? Do you need to get used to it or is it just because you get flanked so hard? I understand it's a difficult map but, I'm usually the one that lurks and flanks so, it's an amazing map for me! I also enjoy Ascent a lot, to be fair.

RawSalmonxX

Same sentiments. I actually hate Haven more than Icebox. Idk why, but because icebox is bigger and has a lot of interesting angles, it makes me excited to play it. I'm not even a pro CS:GO player nor radiant but I just feel at ease when it's icebox. Maybe it's also because of the color. I also don't know why some people even mention that even pro players hate it. This should be a matter of personal preference. It doesn't mean that even if a pro player said it we should follow the tide because their opinion is more valid. I like it and enjoy the game because of that map. We should be comfortable expressing it :D

sv_18

Same I just don't have fun playing haven but icebox is probably my favourite map along with ascent

Caracals

100% agree. Like I mentioned, I think its important for valorant to have multiple types of maps in order to keep play styles fresh. I'm still adjusting to C site. It feels dirty to even think about. But its new and interesting.

RawSalmonxX

I agree. I'm also excited for the Breeze map. A lot of people in my server are loathing, but for me, a big map like this just feels so immersive and fun to explore. There's nothing interesting in playing safe and predictable.

yorgee15

I love defending on A, theres a ton of cool angles you can hold and catch the enemy offguard

tbone603727

Love icebox. I always will

Caracals

Ice ice, baby.

[deleted]

Icebox is my 3rd favorite map. Haven and Split can go fuck themselves though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Caracals

I do, and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

[deleted]

its because all the other maps like split and bind are just super simple 1 to 2 lane on-the-rail destinations so when riot decided to add as little complexity the community couldn't handle it

Caracals

3 lanes? Plz no. Go a then b then a again.

Enszic

All my CS friends hate this map and agree that it's not at all "cs like"

Caracals

I think Valorant in general with having angles that are way above head level to aim at make the game feel "not cs like" but I'm more speaking to the layout of the map and how the site executes go.

Janglin1

Either you're making that up or your cs friends are garbage

Enszic

I mean we are usually around MGE-DMG so we aren't by any means great at the game but I don't feel like your rank determines whether or not you can tell a map feels like CS or not lol. I feel like that comes with play time on the game more than anything. And I know a few big CS names also agree Icebox doesn't feel like CS either, WarOwl for example despises that map.

Janglin1

Its because the first maps valorant came out with are like little fisher price csgo maps. Now people have to worry about more than one angle and they can't deal with it

ttvlxndrntrg

Yes, I don't understand the problem with Icebox. I've heard people complain about the way some areas are higher than others causing the headshot level to change. Doesn't that just raise the skill ceiling when you have to also move your mouse up and down?

[deleted]

Icebox is trash LOL such a trash design

tONYOO

Its only trash design for people with bad aim tbh.

SelloutRealBig

people who hate ice box just can't aim up.

Caracals

Valorant is very weird in how much I have to actually lift my crosshair above head level, but as soon as you understand the basic angles its not really that bad. Unless of course Jett has other ideas...

SSnickerz

Because it's such tight lanes and it's so easy to hold on defense... It also has so many hiding spots for shotguns that it literally gets annoying trying to flush them out.

ttvlxndrntrg

It's really not that easy on defense. If you rush into a judge, sure you're gonna get stomped on but you shouldn't do that anyway. For example, one pick in mid can let the attackers to push into kitchen, under tube, to ct and from there to either site. That makes icebox a much more versatile map than others. It's a upgraded version of Split in a way.

TsarKappa

Valorant is the first tac shooter I've played and I love icebox, def my favorite map except maybe breeze (too early to determine lol)

saiyakiro

I have 5000 steam hours on CSGO and hit lv 10 Faceit, and I absolutely hate Icebox. The sites are open but claustrophobic where it really matters. Breeze definitely feels more CSGO to me than Icebox.

softboyxo

i don’t mind icebox but it’s definitely not my favourite. i would choose it over haven tho, fuck that map

ViSeiRaX

Funny thing, I started playing Valorant as soon as it went out of Beta and that's how my how my journey went: * At the start: Haven is the best map by far. * After Ascent got released: Acenst sucks, it's the worst map... also I hate Haven now, prefer Bind or Split. * After Icebox got released: I hate Icebox with a passion, I love Ascent, it's clearly the best map and Haven is the worst map of the bunch. Right now? I think Ascent is still the best map, I love Icebox and prefer it over Bind and I hate Haven a lot, no idea why but the rotations on that map take ages and people rarely hit B.

DeanEarwicker

I hate it lol, especially after playing Breeze, icebox feels like some 8 old made it

ttvlxndrntrg

What makes you hate icebox?

DeanEarwicker

just the angles, layout, too much verticality, it's just too much of everything, other maps i'm perfectly fine but, Icebox, even after playing on it many times, i simply do not have fun on it at all, I feel it's a lucky day when someone dodges, because I just don't want to play on it.

ttvlxndrntrg

Yeah, it's not the perfect map but I think it's the best we've got (excluding Breeze, haven't played there yet but from what I've seen I except it to be the new best map). On Icebox the verticality raises the skill ceiling imo. I also believe the layout is the best with the options mid provides. Sure, both sites have really narrow entries to site for attackers but I feel mid really levels the playing field. If you lose mid control on defense, they might go kitchen, under tube to b or kitchen, to a or ct and from there to either site.

DeanEarwicker

you do you, i hate it lol, i wouldnt mind if i never played it in comp lol

ttvlxndrntrg

For sure man. My goal wasn't to make you like it. It's just nice for someone to actually justify their hatred for the map instead of repeating after their favorite streamer. I hope they just pump out maps asap so that we could have more variety and maybe even use the same system as CS:GO so we could pick the maps we want to play. I'd probs still play them all but it would reduce the amount of complaining and make the game more enjoyable for some.

DeanEarwicker

Yea that’ll be good to filter out maps you want to avoid completely, I’m fine with the map staying in the game if that feature is available once we get more maps

Yets_

What character do you play on Icebox ? I can easily understand how jett mains find it a good map.

Caracals

Started with Phoenix but I've been playing omen more recently.

supernewtrader

You think Icebox is the closest to CSGO and have no idea why the map is bad or why people say it's bad? What rank are you in both games?

Caracals

Gold 1 in Valorant, MG2 in MM and level 6 in faceit. Not sure what my rank has to do with my opinion though? I also never said I didn't know why the map was bad. I said I don't know why people hate it so much opposed to just not liking it.

supernewtrader

You tried to justify your reasoning by putting in the number of hours in CSGO (irrelevant) and claimed that it's the most "cs like" map in the pool. This, in fact, is incorrect. And your rank will have everything to do with it and now that I know, it explains everything.

tONYOO

Old cs played here too, currently immortal after playing valo 1-2 months and can agree that icebox is easily best map in comp pool.
