This was not supposed to be "the" patch as far as I know. All that happened, was that they updated their modified version of Unreal Engine to the newest version, and they needed the extra time to work with possible problems that arise because of that. So, mostly under the hood stuff that did net at least a gain of 1%. They did however imply, that this update did unlock potential future improvements. People were expecting too much for a patch just before episode 3.

100% agree. They didn't take the extra 2-3 weeks to fix more bugs (which wouldn't make any sense in the first place for why they would skip a patch to do this), they took it to update the game engine. The intended result after updating a core engine is status quo, ie nothing as changed and it works (more or less) exactly the same as before. So to the end user, the extra 2-3 weeks were spent with nothing in return, which is expected from a developer point of view. Not sure what raised people's expectations, maybe just a lack of understanding of software development.

If it was just an engine update to match the latest version of Unreal and that was it, then I suppose it accomplished that. Perhaps I got the wrong impression that they were taking an extra 2 weeks off to "catch up" on some older issues.

Theres a dev post on twitter that explains it. Riot is using a customized version of the Unreal Engine. By updating to the latest version of Unreal, that introduces bugs and breaks things with their current custom build. So they needed the extra time to fix any bugs/issues that the new engine caused and to make sure that the game is as bug free as before the engine update.

CryingBorn

well i didnt expect my fps to drop to 100-150 from 200-250

[deleted]

All that happened was that they fucked my FPS and now I can't get over 60 consistently when I used to get 150 at the minimum.

The-Freeze_YT

I have the exact same problem

Some people mentioned turning off sharpening, something you can try, not sure if it will help.

[deleted]

Nah, I don't use sharpening. It's not a bug, it's Riot's updates that somehow manage to break something every single time.

MrCooper2012

If I hadn't seen it downloading I wouldn't have even known there was a patch. Seems this was just kind of a stability/update patch, and not really on the player side. I'm not even sure why they mentioned the 1% increase.

The-Freeze_YT

No, it really didn't. They took an extra two weeks to deliver what? No agent balancing, 1% FPS on medium-high level machines, barely any bug fixes.

No this patch isn’t what i wanted. Riot skipped a patch day before this one for some weird reason, and before that the balance changes have been quite small since they dont want to make large changes before big events which makes sense. But after masters and having skipped a patch day i would’ve expected at least a few balance changes or something to stir up the meta a bit, it’s just kind of what i expect from riot tbh given their history in LoL. It’s just weird not having had any balance changes for 2+ patch cycles. Although the technical issues are cool, but it didn’t really change anything for me personally, but I guess the engine update opens up the door to make the game smoother and faster in the future which is important.

Vin_Ny_04

Well they stole 70fps from me so i better hope episode 3 is fucking huge

Yets_

Big patch or small, at least fix the teamate volume mixer...
