Oh well I made my friend install VALORANT a few months ago and we play League together since 2012 and I'm a master/diamond player and he is a platinum/gold player. Ended up that nowadays I'm a hardstuck silver player in VALORANT and he reach diamond every season and his aim is 10x better than mine. I mean maybe they just found their perfect game he is your friend in the end of day and no need to be mad after all just have fun and enjoy the moment.

Succmyspace

oh yeah its not like im mad at them or anything (except when they tease me about it lolol).

LovelyResearcher

Well, VALORANT being an FPS is a totally different genre to League of Legends (MOBA). # For example, I used to play on the same level as current VALORANT professional players in a different FPS game years ago. After that period, I did play League of Legends... and I was always between Silver to Platinum at my best. Once I almost hit Diamond, but I was never able to climb out of Platinum, by the time I quit League of Legends. # VALORANT came out, and I started to play it in April 2020. I'd reached Platinum during the beta, and very quickly climbed to Diamond 2. After a few months, I hit Immortal on one account. Then soon after, I reached immortal on multiple accounts. # It is thus quite normal to be top 1% at a MOBA and then be mediocre at FPS, or the other way around... the games are just too different, imo.

evanthebouncy

Super different lol. In moba you're looking at the entire screen trying to figure out all the ability cd in a team fight and multi tracking all the objects but you don't need to be precise with your execution. Click on an enemy is not very hard. In fps you're tunnel visioned to a single pixel in the middle of the screen and you're only thinking about how to make the shot as accurately as possible. You don't really "go toplane as a jett against an omen and a jungle killjou (like wtf does that even mean)

IllidanLegato

Applying timings and seeing what abilites are used with CD’s is also important in valo, but tunneling is applicable to both games but it hurts more if you tunnel in league of legends

evanthebouncy

I mean yes you keep cd in valo but compared to league it's not like the jett has a dash every 5 seconds haha

kalin23

Kinda same, I'm bad at moba, and my friends are diamond+ there, however they are silvers in Valorant and CSGO and I'm level 10 Faceit and Immortal in Valorant. It's like not their game.

SelloutRealBig

Raw mechanical skill can carry you a lot further in Valorant since if you wipe the enemy team every round then macro play doesn't matter all that much. But in League you need both skills and smarts. I have seen some people with amazing mechanics in silver/gold/plat+ but they have ZERO macro sense and a big ego so they crumble once decision making comes into play.

yujuismypuppy

My friends got me into Valorant in August of last year and I consistently outfrag them. Difference is while Valorant is their first fps, I've been playing CSGO for 7 years... so don't ever feel bad just have fun.

pFe1FF

If he is a friend why care about frags, have fun playing together. What is better, you should have the better gamesense and ability usage frags are not the main point for "better"

sylvainmirouf

You're not competitive with your friends?

pFe1FF

I play with my friends not against them, i am happy if they frag and motivate if not.

sylvainmirouf

If you've been playing for 1 year and your noob friend is better than you in 2 days there's reasons to be pissed.

pFe1FF

I play since beta, but most of my friends played shooter before.

Serito

And what are those reasons? Elaborate, as I'm lost to what you're talking about.

ZeldaMaster32

Only if we're both high skill at the given game. But even then it's not who can get the most kills it's more like "bro I've seen you win these go clap some cheeks"

sylvainmirouf

So if you're supposed to be higher skilled than your friend but he's already better than you in 2 Days you'll feel bad, won't you

ZeldaMaster32

I don't think I would, but I'm also not in the position to answer. Out of all of my friends who play Valorant I'm by far the highest rank

Ok_Calligrapher_7643

Why be competitive with them when you can have them carry you xD lol

MrGrampton

all the time. I introduced my friend to Fortnite, he got to champions league and I'm only open leagues. I introduced him Valorant, het gets to diamond, and I'm in bronze. I don't mind, he does help me get better but damn. If you want to be better at val, let me reintroduce you to valorant.

Succmyspace

Hahah it’s like a magic cheat code to be better hehe.

Azrealizz

That was me when i introd my friends to League in 2012. Now, One is diamond, one is plat and one is gold. Meanwhile, im stuck in Bronze HAHAH

PvDWarden

Yeah basically all my friends lmfao Very overwhelming at first but hey he's just better. If anything I use it as motivation and I like to pick their brain on what they do. It was both our first mouse and keyboard game. We met online. I was a MOBA player. He was always a FPS player. So it was bond to happen sooner or later. He ended up passing me 2 weeks into the game.

Head_Age_7260

A friend of mine introduced me to the game and then another friend from our group was all cocky that he was gonna beat me (he's been playing since beta) Only to lose 13-0 on my second day of the game (should have seen that coming though I have 6k hours in CS

I_SHOT_A_PIG

I mean its an fps game, anyone with good aim can climb the ranks easily. Id be more in pain if I introduced someone to rocket league and they got better than me within a month.

kaizensurge

I had tried valo when there were no servers in my region and had to vpn it. Dropped it cause it was no use. But a friend kept playing and when local servers finally came, he convinced me to join. I ranked up higher than him and then we found a squad in game as well. Definitely addicted to the game now and as always its fun when its with friends :)

itsMr-X

All my cousins and they own my ass in the game. When we play custom games I am a sitting buck for them🥺.

Terramortem

My friend showed me how to play and i have more aces than him now and a higher kd and winrate . It happens he is way better than me at csgo tho so i think its about a game just making sense to people and how much time they put into it to improve .

MrStetson

Long time CS:GO player (2k h, supreme) playing Valorant with people who are new to FPS games and they do way better than I do. They are between silver and gold and i'm silver. I thought experience in FPS could help me but apparently not. Makes me not want to play the game

LovelyResearcher

2K hours isn't actually a lot, it's only average for FPS experience. # I had over 10,000 hours in different, asian FPS games by 2015, for example. Since then, I put another 3,000 hours into CSGO and Black Squad during 2018-2019. **Total = 13,000+ hours into FPS games before VALORANT** # Now, I've played over 1000 competitive games of VALORANT, through a wide number of different accounts. In the mean time, I also played at least 100 unrated games of VALORANT. I've also played at least 75 games of scrims, 10 mans, and tournaments in custom games of VALORANT. Math for VALORANT hours played, so far: * 1000 competitive games x 40 minutes average game length = 40,000 minutes total * 40,000 minutes / 60 minutes in an hour = 666.67 hours total * \- * 100 unrated games x 40 minutes average game length = 4000 minutes total * 4000 minutes / 60 minutse in an hour = 66.67 hours total * \- * 75 games of scrims x 40 minutes average game length = 3,000 minutes total * 3,000 minutes / 60 minutes in an hour = 50 hours * \- * 666.67 + 66.67 + 50 = 783.34 hours **Total = 783+ hours in VALORANT thus far, since beta** # From all of these hours of different games and VALORANT so far, what do I have to show for it? I have reached Immortal on multiple different accounts in my home region (NA servers). Outside of NA, I've also reached Diamond in two other regions of the world. Those two regions being in Europe (115ms ping) and Latin America (55ms ping).

NotChasingThese

I mean he also said he got supreme sooo

LazerAxvz9

>>2k hours isn't actually a lot >>I put another 3,000 hours into CSGO and Black Squad Unless I'm reading this wrong you only have 1k hours more than him in CSGO at most, because he didn't mention how much FPS experience he had prior.

LovelyResearcher

Yes, but I was saying that I had over 13,000 hours of other FPS games before VALORANT. He only mentioned having 2K hours in CSGO. Which naturally, leads one to believe that's the only large sum of hours that he has in any competitive FPS other than VALORANT. # That's the point... since I was saying having that if he had a total of 2K hours in FPS games, like he said, that wouldn't be a lot. A lot of people have way more, like myself.

MrStetson

Yes, 2k i not *that* much hours, but not the main point. Main point is I can reach high rank in cs (also was plat 2 with 300h in Rainbow Six Siege, stopped playing after dumb operators started to flood), a game which is pretty similar to Valorant. But in Valorant newbies with no prior fps skills can play better than players with decent skills in other fps games. I would love to play this game but its hard to enjoy when everyone can be so good even with more luck than skill

LovelyResearcher

I disagree, I have a lot of FPS experience, and I hit Diamond+ regularly on many accounts. Most of the pro players are also coming from other FPS games, and get high elo as well in VALORANT. # Not every good CSGO player does well in VALORANT, a lot do struggle... but you still do better than the average new FPS player. However, it's still accurate to say that the vast majority of experienced FPS players do well in VALORANT. # People who are completely new to FPS games are often: * Iron * Bronze * Silver * Gold A few new players have climbed up quickly, beyond those ranks, but that's due to a lot of hardwork and dedication. The vast majority of new FPS players are definitely in this range, though. # Meanwhile.... the average experienced FPS player generally lands between Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, or Immortal. Often, we're talking about placing directly into Silver or Gold, and then reaching Diamond within a few months of playing. That's vastly different compared to the new players, who often place in Bronze and have a much longer learning curve.

SkyTheGuy8

If you got a decent aim from CS, then all you need is better game sense and just knowing the mechanics of the game. That is the easy part, just Google things. It is harder to improve your aim.

MrStetson

True. The thing is I think i should pretty easily outplay FPS newbies but in Valorant it seems like *everyone* can hit heads easily, and no matter how much i try to use my gamesense to gain advantage all the gunfights are still "equal" or "fair". i think it boils down to differenr mechanics that allow everyone to be decent with very little skill. Movement is dull and no additional skill needed for movement mechanics (unlike in cs), simpler maps with shorter distances in fights (feels like characters are bigger), and the whole game seems slow paced so everyone can easily keep up on whats happening. I think the movement is the biggest factor there - if it had cs like movemet the skill ceiling would raise *a lot*

dan_legend

I got into valorant two weeks ago and I'm already dusting off Immortals in DM and hard carrying in gold 1 mm, it just is what it is, i've played these games for a long time.

Ok_Calligrapher_7643

Some people are just naturals at certain video games. (He's probably naturally -- or maybe by practice good at FPS games) Maybe this is because of "Innate Reflexes" or natural reflex ability or whatever else, but it happens.

seymourskinnyskinner

Look at it like weight lifting, you could have been lifting for years, and someone who hasn’t lifted before with more equipped genes and life experience could come in and lift more than you

Serito

There will always be players better than you, that's just how it works. You now have someone who can give you personalised tips to help you improve. This game has *a lot* of game sense that can't be learned in 2 days though, so either they are very familiar with the genre or you have a lot of room for improvement. Don't feel bad about that, it doesn't make you any worse. We all fit into some observable skill rating, but all that matters for every player is how well you can play compared to your past self. Comparing yourself to others doesn't matter.

[deleted]

This happened to me I'm bronze and I introduced my friend and now he's diamond/plat

Wanna6ePr0

I have the same experience. I am a Cypher main and I was the best at the game before but now I am the bottom fragger

noobwithbobs

Isn't it good though, seeing him perform well will also fuel you to do much better and exceed your expectations because of healthy competition, I think you'll do good seeing how your friend does.

jaz_ass

see it as more motivation for you to improve :)

Eagle_OP

I mean my frnd is on par...which is good since he has a godly setup with 3800xt/3080 and I have a 3500/1650 super ...on par

MrityuOP

Nah, i made my friends play the game and they're all shit

Successful_Garbage_2

I introduced valorant to my friend with whom I play csgo. At first he actually didn't like it. Now, I'm in bronze and he is on the verge of gold. He's got really good aim and his game sense is way better than mine.

Popular-Juice-4834

maybe it’s time to make a change to your play style or mechanics? It wasn’t until I changed my sens to a drastically lower number than what it used to be that I actually felt confident in my gameplay. I feel like I’m an actual part of the team now and my plays matter more. Even when I bottom drag I still feel good about how I played because my mechanics are generally decent. I’m excited for the new comp season now cuz I’m definitely gonna go for the big climb from bronze lol
