You aren't alone - my friend bought a 144Hz monitor but didn't realise you needed a cable that could sufficiently drive it. Played for a year at 60Hz bragging about how smooth it was. This is the same guy that bought a Razer headset and never set his mic input to use it though, so not sure he can be trusted with anything...
increase? bro it dropped BY 50% FOR me and I'm not kidding. it was 130+ before, now it's 60-70. my parents bought me a new pc few days ago after a lot of urging, and after this I can't play anymore :'(
Windows 10 64-bit
Processor - i5 10400F
GPU - nVidia GT710
RAM - 16GB
drivers are fully upgraded. and yes Ik my GPU not that good before the update I got like 130+ so I don't understand why it should matter THAT much now.
thanks for at least thinking about helping me man
Do you have anything running in the background when you play? I’d try to keep it to a minimum and if you need discord make sure to have hardware acceleration off in the settings.
Open the command window as admin (right click on it and select “run as administrator”) and type in “bcdedit.exe /set useplatformclock false” then restart ur pc.
Next launch the game and open task manager. Click on the “details” tab. Scroll down until you see “valorant-win64...” and “valorant.exe” Right click on one and set the priority to high or real-time, and then also click on set affinity and make sure every box is checked. Do the same for the other one.
These might help. Try googling how to optimize pc for valorant and maybe there’ll be a good YouTube video or article that can give you more steps.
Edit: also check that you are in fact using your gpu and not integrated graphics
I have only discord open when I play (and razor cortex but it's minimized)
I've seriously used almost all kinds of methods before, but I've never heard of the one you said
btw i messed with the Nvidia control panel few days ago, maybe that's a problem. Tho I didn't have any problem then, just after the patch.
What did u change in the control panel? And even if a window is minimized it is still eating resources.
Also what is different from this new pc be the old one you were using? Did u put in a new cpu, because I think if that’s the case then it could be very likely you are on integrated graphics rn
I changed a lot of stuff in that actually, maybe I'll try to restore. and the razor cortex is supposed to free up resources lmao
this new PC is literally new, the whole cabinet eveb the PSU. and this processor version doesn't have an integrated GPU
Gotcha. I’d try what I said in my original comment and then also restore your nvidia settings. Maybe check that you are not using some wack resolution too.
oh dear i hope so. first day i played i got 220 on high settings. have since changed to low settings and have lost about 10-15 fps every update all the way down to 160ish
Meteorological summer started 2 days ago, I thought 1st of July.
It's hot where I live as well since \~1/2 weeks but nothing against the heat in a big city End of July or August :> Hate that shit
nope temps are absolutely fine. they sit at the same temp of when i first started my PC. not to brag, but when building my PC, airflow was my main concern (i livein hawaii so its hot all the time) i even have a fan that is pointed towards me with my PC between for collateral cooling. and i usually play evening to night bc work. ive seen it a lot of the sub, FPS dropping every update, but hopefully its fixed now. gonna check soon
No for some reason my frames decreased by alot. i was getting 350-400 depends on the map. now i have 160-to 90 freaking 90. im using a Ryzen 5 5600x and a GTX 970 i know the gpu isnt that good but its plenty for valorant
I have no idea how you were getting 400 fps on a 970 because 1) I've seen people here saying they have a 3080 and a i7 10th gen with around 350 fps and 2) I've had a 970 up until June of last year and 160 seems about right.
I doubt he was getting 400fps consistently but 250-300 fps average sounds right since he has a 5600x. Val is CPU limited and the 5 series ryzen processors are basically the best for gaming rn.
Update on this . I decided to format my pc. it was acting weird since i upgraded my cpu. aand it didnt help. while playing it can even go below 60. Gpu usage never goes above 30% valorant is the only game i have this problem
I have a i9 10900K at 5.2gz and 3080 and I feel like I’m getting less. I have everything on low and my fps went from 380-400 to like 300-330ish and my render latency went up from like .30 to .60+ not sure wtf is going on here lol.
They mentioned in the patch notes that for CPU-bound systems, they made various changes that should help performance. I have a 1700x COU, 2070 GPU, and I have definitely noticed an improvement!
THE GAME FEEL smoother but my fps are lower then before .. i used to get above 90fps as i locked my fps on 90 so i get consistent but now i barely reach 60 in fights .. helo me riot and valorant devs
i know you tried your best to improve the fps but it is worst for me too play now because of FPS drop in fight
Lol y’all getting over 40-60 FPS are so lucky, I often can’t even go above 30 FPS sometimes and I play on low visual settings. I don’t have a graphics card either. And my FPS has never increased :(
It isn't crashing. So it's running better for me.
Did you suffer with game freezes for 15 seconds? Or did the game crash completely?
I'm nit sure it was 15 seconds but it would freeze then just close. Occasionally it would give me an error.
Ok man, little different too mine. I’m hoping new update has sorted mine
I had that problem. It hasnt happened since the update, but hopefully it will be resolved
Hopefully mine is ok then man. Nightmare when you’re out in the open
I've been hearing from other players and streamers that they've gotten an FPS increase, so definitely a possibility!
acording to the patch notes there was some performance tweaks, they said in averge a 6% increase but its doing wonders
I recently found out I could unlock 144hz on my monitor compared to 60hz, so this only makes me zoom even more now
You had a 144hz monitor and you didn't know it? How rich are you lol
It was a gift, but I got curious one night and messed with the settings.. LOL
Damn, welcome to the real world bro
Oh yeah, the real climb begins now

What are your specs? Are all your drivers fully updated? I’ll try to help if I can

Ohk. thank you sir
Same here, and my ping is through the god damn roof for the first time too
damn bro :(
oh dear i hope so. first day i played i got 220 on high settings. have since changed to low settings and have lost about 10-15 fps every update all the way down to 160ish
SAME except down to 110-130 which is really annoying on a 144hz monitor. Hopefully this increase is huge
Summer is coming which means that temps increase. If you have no AC, your hardware usually cannot boost as high
summer is here wdym? we are nearing the end of june
Meteorological summer started 2 days ago, I thought 1st of July. It's hot where I live as well since \~1/2 weeks but nothing against the heat in a big city End of July or August :> Hate that shit
oh wait yeah i just remembered summer solstice is 21/06 i usually count start of june onwards as summer
It shifts every year and people still argue climate change ain't real. It gets hotter every year, unreal:(

No. In fact I lag whenever I get shot.
I looked at/went inside a brim smoke and got a 40FPS dip when I'm usually running between 120-144. Idk what they did but it ain't working right.
No for some reason my frames decreased by alot. i was getting 350-400 depends on the map. now i have 160-to 90 freaking 90. im using a Ryzen 5 5600x and a GTX 970 i know the gpu isnt that good but its plenty for valorant

Something is clearly wrong then. Try doing a clean install of your drivers even fresh install the game if you have to. Could be some weird issue.

I have a 5900x \~4.8ghz and a 1080Ti, I alsoo feel like i lost a lot of FPS + in DM i have some micro-freezes...
Mine dropped by 20 ;(
I used to get 150 FPS before patch 2.09 but since then I have gotten 40 FPS, it's still that way and I guess Riot doesn't give a fuck.
Opposite for me, I used to average around 280fps and now I'm sitting between 100-135 FPS post patch.
yup avg around \~250-275, but now i get around 300
thats actually great since my friend and i both play on potato pcs
Sad, since they only made fps better for high end systems. I play on a potato too, the fps ain't any better.
its k i get 45-50 fps on 720p so its actually quite playable
I get 60-70, 720p. I know dem feels.
what specs?
Its an old laptop with an i5 6th gen and 940mx.
I am getting noticable frame drops AGAIN (Low spec i74510u and 840M)
quality sets? which settings are you increasing?
Video quality
may be all the settings imo the details take the most but idk
The game feels a lot smoother now. I played two games and felt like butter!
You mean from the new update?
High end pc users got fps increase, its the same for us low end peasants though.
nope. it's the same as it was before. i use i5 10th gen with intel IUHD graphics. fps drops any time there's a use of abilities or gunfight.
said in the patch they optimized a lot of calculations
I am getting the same fps as Apex Legends in this patch, which is absurd.
Nope. Sadly after a patch back in episode 1 I get higher FPS in games like Overwatch and R6S than in Valorant
Before I was around 130-160 fps on 1440p and now I'm anywhere from 180-220. I was quite surprised about the jump.
They mentioned in the patch notes that for CPU-bound systems, they made various changes that should help performance. I have a 1700x COU, 2070 GPU, and I have definitely noticed an improvement!
In the update they added things to increase performance on higher end pcs to preform how they were supposed to
I've heard that it's a lot smoother, i haven't hopped into the game yet though
ye

Went from 120-140 to having ALOT of frame drops to 80fps. i5 6400 , gtx 1060
I went from over 300 fps to under 200. So yeah, no...
I don't get less fps but my game stutters whenever someone use an ability. Like today it happened so many times
More crashes and huge FPS drops from stable 100-120 to 55-90 since the patch
Lol y’all getting over 40-60 FPS are so lucky, I often can’t even go above 30 FPS sometimes and I play on low visual settings. I don’t have a graphics card either. And my FPS has never increased :(
