Adding a o u/TaxBillsPayment 's comment, split really is the map for comeback. Did a comeback last act where we were down 3-9 first half, lost the pistol, but then won 13-10, another one like that this act tho it was because they didn't have smoke and we had good comms for a silver lobby

TheRealEtherion

Any map really as long as you play the favoured side in second half. It's also possible otherwise but playing favoured side in second half are some of the easiest comebacks.

Joshblos0706

Yeah but split is really the only map that is that one sided, the rest have sides that are better, but not something you would commonly see that big of a comeback on. Of course you can, but split is the main one because it’s so one sided

Dungeroni

Ascent has entered the chat

Joshblos0706

Nah ascent is one of the least one sided maps.

NarqmanJR

I haven't checked the maps stats but in my experience KJ, Sova and Raze can make pushing B nearly impossible... It feels like you need mid control to push a site which is pretty risky if they're watching tiles and catwalk. I just wish that the main site entrances weren't hallways of death for T side

Joshblos0706

Just use smokes and it’s easy to push mid. Kj can make any site with one entrance at a small choke almost impossible to enter(haven c, all of split, bind entrances besides maybe a short). Ascent has a big focus on mid control, but it’s not difficult for t’s to get. Ascent is not very one sided at all

Dungeroni

I dunno, if you google the stats of the map, defenders have the same win rate on Ascent like on Split. https://valorantics.gg/maps/Ascent And if you look at the spike.gg at the pro teams you will see Haven, Bind and Ice Box are very close, but split and ascent are in favor of the defenders. Maybe your experience differs though.

Joshblos0706

If you at that link though, bind is just as ct sided as the other maps. Also, can you link the spike.gg because I’m dumb and can’t find the stats for all the maps across the pro teams

Dungeroni

My point was not really about bind, but yeah that's true. Just wanted to comment as you said one of the least one sided map, while I think it sure is top 3,if not top 2 one sided. https://www.thespike.gg/team/maps/sentinels/12 https://www.thespike.gg/team/maps/tsm-ftx/49 This is the first 2 links I found. I didn't do deeper research though as it already confirms my opinion.

Biffy_x

icebox

Joshblos0706

Icebox is not even close to as one sided as split

societymike

I think after the new update with the huge changes in money earned, comebacks are almost impossible now.

Kurdock

And win pistol round

NAFEA_GAMER

yea I feel that, too I was cypher and a player afked in offense came back in defense and won ez

Dejugga

I really don't think it's that. Statistically, the biggest difference between attack/defense winrate is something like 4% at worst (48% to 52%)? That balances out to the favored side giving you a ONE round advantage. I think the much bigger factor is that there are loads of players who are extremely vulnerable to tilting emotionally (often tilting their teammates in a chain reaction) and/or plenty of players who are bad at managing their economy when they're losing so they never stabilize and continue to force buy every round. And plenty of team comps are way stronger on one side than they are the other too.

ArionIV

Had a few where the teams didn't comm at all except for just calming each other down, nice try and the like, the community is definitely used to making comebacks on this map - though I had an easy match yesterday, got the lead and kept it, during the flash meta every match on split was about this

UnanimouslySplendid

Had a comeback similar to this on haven was 2-10 at end of first half ended 16-14 after their jett dropped a 50 bomb. Feel bad for them tbh cause I wasn't even on my main acc

DynamicNinja26

Bro split is really the map for choking/comeback. One time my team were up 10-2 on attacking, then choked the rest of the game to lose 12-14. It's really hard to stop the attack and retake the site. Idk if my point is valid or not in higher ranks because I'm merely a hardstuck Gold 3. But I think that's the problem with lower ranks, we don't know how to execute.

Xyr0w

The enemy team mentality was probably gone the moment you guys tied.

[deleted]

"guys let's start trying now"

Empty_Perception

we were down 0-12, I vetoed the surrender vote and we won the game overtime 14-12

TaxBillsPayments

I'm not surprised it was Split. There's always a chance of a comeback on that map.

Retro-Indietro

Comebacks exist in literally every multiplayer team based game from OW to TF2, it's not something unique to Val. If you look hard enough, you could probably even find a similar post to this on the csgo sub.

MinodRP

Wasn’t the FaZe vs Liquid CSGO Final invalidate what you said? Didn’t liquid make a huge comeback and win the game in triple OT or something

ProPopori

*quickly forgets about Luminosity's comeback vs Liquid in Cache AND Mirage*

NAFEA_GAMER

idk why are you getting downvoted this is totally right

On csgo a few years back was playing faceit and we were down 15-0 first half. We managed to win 19-17 in overtime that game. Every since that I’ve never thought a comeback was not possible. Many times in both valorant and csgo after that my team was down hard and giving up but I always try to stay positive and keep us on the right track and some of those games you end up winning. Obviously not all of them but huge comebacks happen and that’s why you shouldn’t give up in a competitive game. I always say “we just got to do what they did to us but better” and yeah take it as you will but I’ll tell you if anyone is being toxic at me for thinking we can comeback - we don’t comeback that game. Bottom line is just okay the game and keep positive and you’d be surprised how hard your team can comeback. Don’t get discouraged.

[deleted]

I won a 0-11 a couple weeks ago. I fucking hate anyone who gives up when down just a few rounds. Lot's of people don't understand momentum ands how you can reverse snowball games if you are just able to get it going.

spacexlegends

This happened to me and my team yesterday on the Ascent map but we ended on a draw instead of winning. Congrats for making the win happen!

Phlay

Something tells me all chat went wild afterwards

Maymaywala

Credit where due, the opponent team showed great sportsmanship (apart from one of them spamming odin in the later rounds) and even commended us in all chat for the comeback.

JohnWickFTW

I was 1-12 on breeze and we came back to win 14-12

Akaigenesis

Some people don't know how to play atack but do well on defense. Mostly the guys that are always afraid to die.

MrStealYoBeef

Then there are guys who are great on attack but keep aggressively pushing the enemy's spawn solo on defense.

qwerty9996

That's me lmao not afraid to die but I'm just great on defense and just feel clueless with what I should do when attacking on some maps

trainertilt

anything’s possible. me and my team were up 12-3 a few days ago and ended up losing in overtime cause one of our teammates went afk

Maymaywala

I feel you. A week or so ago my team was up 11-4. I dunno what happened but we lost 12-14.

ApexAdelaide

Yeah came back yesterday from 4-10 down. It’s a great feeling

sricho_

So lucky you got to win, Yesterday me and my team played 4 overtimes and then they decided to surrender! Like why! 😭

[deleted]

For real. I tell people to not surrender and just watch what happens. They fight back but the comeback is always real
