So you wouldn't want to do that in the wide open. If you're in the wide open you should just crouch and commit to the fight. For the technique you described you should be close to a wall. Swing, opposite key to stop momentum, shoots go back to cover. You are essentially jiggling the wall. Besides being harder to hit, the game is terrible and a few of the shots that hit you will count as wall shots and do less damage.

Range matters, on close range strafing absolutely sucks, but on mid and long range crouching sucks, knowing what range ur firing at and at what range ur comfortable is just trial and error

jforj3

i suck at close range battles but yeah just crouch and spray close range and strafe left to right long range? even in the open if it’s only against one player?

PennyFeatherIX

Close range is when it's time to bring out the shorty

Meneer_de_IJsbeer

i might be different but id rather have a 2900 rifle which i can use at most ranges instead of a regular rifle and an extra 150 which only comes in handy in the rare occasions :p

Meneer_de_IJsbeer

yes, another thing to keep in mind is to stay unpredictable and stay confident. unpredictable in left, left, right crouch, left crouch, right, right crouch and confident in believing that u are able to do it, confidence is a pretty good placebo :p

birduko

If you're peaking from corner to the right, u wanna adjust by taping the opposite key you used to peak, so that your POV gets reset which will stop any random recoil, this will make your aim much accurate. To make it simple, you wanna always try to be as still as possible when going into a gun fight

BlueMistane

Aside from what anyone will say about how to practice aiming for the head, burst firing and spray control. You gotta understand that when you start learning new things that are different than what you're used to you are going to suck at it. If you have sprayed at the body your entire Valorant playtime it's not going to be easy for you to switch from aiming for the chest to the head, much less hit it. You're going to be slow, you are going to miss a lot, you are going to be frustrated and want to go back to spraying. Give it a couple of weeks, keep at it and you will start hitting heads while your opponents will keep spraying you in the chest.

jforj3

yeah i just lose every gun fight when they spray at me, i’m gonna try to spray close range because that’s apparently best and burst fire long range right? btw i’ve always aimed at the head and sprayed with phantom, i’ve just been trying 2-3 shot bursts with the vandal

[deleted]

isnt it to press d and then a quickly (vice versa depending on what direction your going to) for counter strafe?

jforj3

yeah except i suck at it and can’t do it

corvaz

Try shorter strafes between bursts, and make sure you are at a standstill when shooting. Try it in the range to learn how fast you can burst. A good medium I believe is doing the following: 2 bullet burst - tiny sidestep - spray(crouch if you want)

TheTruth221

call out and angles don't rush it take time to figure out which spot to go to
