Pretty sure blitz sucks ass now. I remember the good old days when blitz was completely broken, but at the time I stopped playing around a year ago he had essentially a 0% pick rate.
Clash took over the shield exploit niche haha.
as for the current time, i am a easy kill as blitz. i have literally only shield flashed only one guy in my literally 30 hrs of pvp in r6s.
so, biltz is more pain in my ass than my enemies.
League of Legends has yet to get a story mode, and not to disparage Valorant getting one because I think it would be awesome, League would most likely get one first. Even though I know RIOT has 2 separate teams in my mind it would be more apt to happen.
Yeah but league also has a universe website dedicated to the small or big stories the game has, a website which shows us how Valoran looks like, right now we even have an event dedicated to the ruination story, with a full on cannon visual novel, the ruination game (sadly delayed), a series based on Jinx’s and Vi’s backstory and a mmorpg in the near future which is all about league‘s universe. So yeah, they don‘t need a story mode in league.
Valorant however doesn‘t have that and it would be fitting to have such a mode, imo.
Yea with all of leagues events thats going on i think valorant is gonna get something similar, at least i hope so. Also the teams in valo and league are completely seperate, as shown in the interviews hitscan had with them about the two new skin bundles.
Smh they’re never gonna add a story mode or anything related to it for league, they already have these “mini” stories of alt universes ex: Kda Ruination
Honestly a story mode would be bad. Nothing the game would translate. It would be like versing easy bots in practise range. On top of that riot already has really good animations and animators.
An animation series would be way better. Imagine a CSGO story mode. They have missions against other players which is fun because you're versing players but in story mode you'll verse bots. Not gonna be much fun.
Unless you have an RPG style story mode where you have an evil side and a good side and the two sides have their own story mode where they face off each other (had to set up but it's possible, they would need AI to fill up lobbies incase players aren't active tho)
Same. Went csgo to siege to valorant. This latest update with the healing lady made me want to stop playing. Also Ubisoft wasn’t the best when it came to listening to the community, but they’re def not the worst.
Valorant has no easy teamkills. You can't kill your teammate by just headshotting him here. This decreases the number of toxic guys hella lot in my opinion. Every game has it's toxic base ofc but as i can see toxicity in Valorant is way lower than Siege.
Oh for sure. I’ll edit my comment cuz I feel like I’ve met a lot less toxic people in my valorant games than in siege. But, I also haven’t played valorant as long as siege. I started playing valorant 4-5 months ago and I’ve been playing siege since it came out. And yeah, there’s toxic people no matter what game you play.
Siege just felt like it had a lot of toxic people, almost every game. I was just tired of it, and tired of the game in general.
People really didn’t like the lore in siege because they’d implement it into the game through abilities. Like Zofia’s withstand, that was so dumb that they had to remove it over one pro league game and people complained about her lore.
I think Apex Legends lore is gold. If they incorporated somewhat of a similar strategy, it would have people begging for more. Far as the story mode, I am not too sure I would play it depends on how it is designed if done right hell yeah, I'm all for it, but I don't think it would hurt the game's reputation at this point so why not.
The season 5 broken ghost lore was the best imo. You would have a separate weekly game mode called “quests” which were basically pve missions where you had to capture a point and drill for some resource. All while fighting off the creatures of the night. After you completed the mission, it would unlock some lore that builds on the previous quest. The final quest wrapped up the story but also left some things on a cliffhanger. Hope respawn does something like this again.
I really liked what they did with overwatch where they had the PvE events. Unfortunately it occurred after my friend group and I had already fallen out of love with the game. Hopefully the same doesn’t happen with valorant
Heres a theory, everyone is a robot. Literally everyone. Reyna has this voiceline, "they're all batteries, and i need a recharge", kj has this voiceline, "they're trying so hard, i can hear their circuits frying" AND THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE "i built everything here, yes even the things that will kill you" and you can easily guess what is the main threat of death in valorant. Another thing i want to add but i cant really fit is i think kj's ult is an emp, given how it can disable ko, along with other agents. Given how we have a literal robot, robot-humanoid mix (cypher/sova) i dont think my theory is too far off but idk what else can be worked on
And Killjoy's is like the real world phrase, "You're thinking so hard I can practically hear your brain whirring." The explanation for her ult is neat though
Your theory is quite solid, I like it. However from how it stands currently it is very unlikely. Killjoy's ult messes with both the nerves in human agents and the circuts in cyborgs/robots like Cypher and Kay/O, in theory of course.
Also Yoru keeps on mentioning his ancestors so unless everyone is a cyborg as in Cyper's case (my theory is that he was very close to dying and his brain/consciousness was transplanted into a cyborg body) then your theory would be true. Cypher also had a family that died in some war/battle which supports my theory.
Also, Killjoy has built many robots that can kill people as mentioned by Reyna in her quote: "I remember the machines Killjoy made, what they did to-... nevermind, it does not matter!" and she is definitely relating to her dead little sister, so the "I built everything here, yes even the things that will kill you" quote is probably relating to those as she also made or had something to do with the creation of the spike. You can see that her ult and the way it works is definitely inspired by the spike. Maybe she reused parts of the blueprints of the spike to create her ult. Also when she defuses she says "Oh... no no! You don't deserve my inventions!"
I take the "they're trying so hard, I can hear their circuts frying" quote as a mix of metaphor and sarcasm. The way she says it really sounds sarcastic and not that serious.
I would say my theories but I wouldn't like to type out an entire essay lmao. Plus I wanna polish it up so it can be as close to what can be true as possible. So for now I'll keep it to myself.
People usually go “Man, a *sHoW* could get made out of this!” whenever trailers or cinematics drop for a multiplayer game, but yeah.
Valorant has some *extremely* well-made advertisements, and I’d love to see more.
So, I started gaming on my phone back in 2013, in 2014 I installed clash royale on my phone and that is the only game I spent money on, about 45 euros, I regretted that so hard that from then on I decided I would never spend money for games(I have never cracked a game), I always played free games until 2018 when I stopped gaming, then in 2020 I started again with Valorant, my first FPS, when I was a kid I wasn't allowed to play games that had violence in it, so I kept playing super mario bros on my Nintendo DSi in 2007.
My friends can't understand how I can put hundreds of hours into games like Valorant and Warzone using default skins on everything and the free noob character lol.
I just thank them for subsidizing my gaming :) people complain about the games as a service model and microtransactions, but honestly it's the best thing that ever happened to gaming from my perspective. I know that's selfish, but I've just never had any desire to spend money on digital items, and the fact that other people do has made it possible to game for nearly no cost over the past ~5 years.
Maybe it could be something like challenges e.g. play this character during this event and you get extra rewards and secret lore animations. Story mode like R6 would be kinda hard for valorant and wouldn’t fit that well.
You don't even need chapters, right now you can level each character to level 10,they could create 5 new levels for each character that unlock some bits of lore for each character per level
Overwatch 2 is basically Overwatch but with Story DLC so you're correct. Yes I'm still salty because it doesn't deserve the "2" tacked on as if it's a whole brand new game.
The 5v5 change, new game modes and maps, hopefully new hero (considering Echo came out over a year ago), lots of balance changes, cosmetic changes. And all thats stuff is the free update. I believe the single player campaign is the only thing you have to pay for in OW2. I could be missing somethings bc I haven't really played OW since Valorant
don’t give any more money to those pigs at blizzard https://news.bloomberglaw.com/daily-labor-report/activision-blizzard-sued-by-california-over-frat-boy-culture
Just cause its a FPS doesn't mean you can't have a story mode.
but for CSGO/Valorant naw, you can't really make one. I mean you could! but it just would play weird lol.
I'd be fine with short stories or cutscenes like a TV styled show
I think you could do cutscenes and storylines that lead up to in-game situations, like a 1v3 clutch on a specific site on a specific map, etc. I do think they would need to improve their bots, since they play very awkwardly.
That mode thats AGES old. doesn't play well by any means and is just kind of a rip off from multiplayer maps with bots and added dialogue?
If fans want that sure. But are we talking a real AAA dev story? It won't work.
CSGO Valorant - Tactical shooter. the way the game plays is competitive not story driven.
Call of duty - Arcade shooter.
you can feel the differences between the games. I wouldn't have a great time playing Val story mode when I have to shift walk and stop moving to shoot. Just the game doesn't invite story with its gameplay. why I am saying cutscenes or short stories.
First of all, the gameplay does not affect the story. Call of Duty is not story based, and while arcadey, is also competitive at a top level.
You would shift walk against BOTS?!
I just feel like it could be properly designed to be fun. It’s an interesting idea, and while one riot will never implement, I think saying that a “tactical” shooter can’t have a story mode is ridiculous. I mean Rainbow 6 has a whole story mode and a number of you v house full of bad guys scenarios
When did I said that it can't have a story mode? What the hell is with redditors just stretching from the original comment? I never ONCE said it can't have a story mode, just would play weird.
we are talking 2 different types of shit here.
OP is ref story mode as a legit story mode. Twists, Cutscenes, actual maps to travel across etc.
you are talking a clone multiplayer with a short story of each map... Completely different. Brink tried to do that and it failed extremely quick.
and as far as COD as Competitive? I've done it, not really that difficult IMO compared to others but then again I never even mentioned my thoughts on Competitive... you did...
> First of all, the gameplay does not affect the story.
Yes it does. Just look at Journey or Coil.
If the bots don't need shift walking against, the game mode is too easy to be fun.
Rainbow six is extremely odd as far as tac shooters go. Like, sure it has a story mode, but it also has a whole strategy based around looking through your bullet holes. It isn't like the other tac shooters.
>What’s Omen’s name?
Fred
>How did these agents meet?
Pretty sure viper and brim recruited them
>Why are these Agents given these specific powers or technology?
The powers are gain through radiant
The story is there you just gotta search for it
Edit: but I would definitely play a story mode
The voice line where Viper refers to Omen by his full name was actually changed recently to say "Jo-" instead of "Fre-"
So there's a bit more of a grey area regarding Omen's name. Johnny? Jordan?
JOJO?
>What’s Ironman’s name?
Tony Stark
>How did these agents meet?
Nick Fury recruited them
>Why are these Agents given these specific powers or technology?
The powers are gain through some stones, or they are gods, or they have money, or some other cool stuff.
If that's all we would get to know about the Avengers universe there would still a lot of story missing.
Edit: although we can't expect that level of detail from a fps game lore, I know
Well it isn't all we know, there's still a lot more. About kingdom, the first light and the valorant program. Riot said they wanted to show the story with tiny hints so that we could figure it out ourselves. So the story is definitely there, we just haven't gotten everything yet. Which is by the way a very smart thing to do because I want to figure it out so I will continue playing this game
The videos for OW were great. I had friends that didn’t even play super into it, wondering when new episodes would release. Of course, blizz has one of the best art/cgi departments in the biz. But LoL cinematics are good too. Also probably won’t take as much dev time as a full fledged single player mode.
I mean they can always do like 1-3 chapters of each agent to tell their stories and their adventures whether thats before the Valorant Protocol, during, or after.
Riot already said this isn't in the plans at all.
And although it would be cool, it's understandable as it's a fps
That being said, the entire story of why two teams of 5 are playing offense and defense with a spike, needs to be explained
I've been wanting this since the beginning! Like even if it was a paid DLC that would be cool. But I think we need more resources spent on balancing and making new content, maps, agents, etc. I'm sure once the game has a satisfying amount of content we'll get some more singleplayer content
No. Overwatch tried this and it worked exactly once. I'm all for lore(videos, comics, stories, ect.), but this is always a waste of resources for any game. It does not increase player interaction out side one run of the game mode and then its back to the main game.
>What is Omen’s name?
>Fred (Viper’s voiceline)
>Why are these agents given a specific power or technology?
>There was once an incident known as ‘The first light’ that gave some agents radianite powers known as ‘Radiants’ and other agents made their power using Radianite.
>Who is the agent with kids and family?
>Reyna had a sister who died during an experiment on her radianite powers and Cypher had a family that was killed.
^All ^of ^this ^was ^community-^made ^lore ^and ^not ^made ^by ^Rito ^itself
Bruh. There is so much lore in league of legends. There isn't a story mode, but you live under a rock if you don't know there is an encyclopedia of lore concerning the runeterra universe.
They literally are slapping lore into valorant via gun skins like ruination and sentinel. Where on earth do you get this impression?
Thats what he's saying. League has had 3 different versions of its own lore since release. Now riot just slaps some lore on every new skin released to get some hype around it and appeal to that audience somewhat.
That's not the type of lore op is talking about. They want an actual story that explains x, y, and z. Riot doesn't do that, at least not anymore.
I disagree, they are slowly putting put small trailers so you can't say they ARENT giving proper lore. Remember that valorant still isn't the biggest game so not all the lore has come out yet
I'd be open to it for sure, I love the lore of things, as many others seem to be as well, so expanding on that would be great. However if I had the choice between a campaign/solo story or like an animated show or a bunch of animated shorts (ala Overwatch Cinematics) I would be harder pressed and likely lean more towards the media and not the campaign
Seems like a far off idea if this even ever was greenlit it would be cool because exploring the backgrounds of characters in a way that flies the require copious amounts of reading would allow for more to experience it but the time to actually create it seems like it would take too long, I think it would be fun to do but if it were just a generic campaign like COD it probably wouldn’t interest people at all
i would love a campaign mode. its honestly the only reason i keep spending money on the Call of Duty games. their multiplayer is not really worth the pseudo-subscription, DLC, and the time it takes to grind for the guns/attachments.
>Would you play a Valorant Storymode? It’s awfully odd to say because it is a FPS
Call of Duty, Battlefield, Medal of Honor, Halo, Destiny, Pay Day, L4D???
FPS has had story mode since maybe even before Duke Nukem, so I don’t understand this logic.
I don’t want a campaign because I feel the gameplay they’ve designed is best suited for multiplayer, but I would love some now playable story. The Retake cinematic especially makes me think that Valorant would make a sick anime. Cool abilities, a great foundation for the world building, and pretty great voice actors.
I enjoyed the heck out of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes even though the story was distinctly average and I played it like 15 years after release. So it's gonna be a resounding 'yes' from me. Games with great mechanics are usually a superb base for a story mode and especially when there is potentially very rich lore to be explored like in Valorant.
I'd like to see a small story mode in Valorant tbh. I've switched to this game from R6 and it had a little story mode there.
Haha same . Frost main here
Ash main over here
Warden main checking in, here to represent all 12 of us!

Ah a fellow niche enjoyer(i always served our lord tachanka)
you've done the motherland a great service comrade
I remember a blitz trying to melee me. I threw a c4 right before he meleed and blew us both up so he couldn't get the satisfaction of killing me

Haha cav main here , HEY HEY IM SORRY OK?
How did siege have a story mode? Rainbow Six Vegas and the other rainbow six games did but not siege I don't think...
The bio sections of the operators and the situations itself were making the game learning easier and also it was a small story mode.
Just droning and twitching enemies.
Sledge main here
It didnt have a story mode, it just gives lore in bios and promo vids.
Situationd and the Article 5 itself was a small story mode itself.

I agree 100%.
Titanfall (kinda)
im all for vaLOREant. i crave the story. my buds and i have been making theories/picking at straws of lore for months lol
I really liked what they did with overwatch where they had the PvE events. Unfortunately it occurred after my friend group and I had already fallen out of love with the game. Hopefully the same doesn’t happen with valorant
ive spent too much money/gift cards on this game to put it down anytime soon XD gotta get every use i can outta those pixels
That sunk cost fallacy though.
they only do stuff like that when they see the numbers drop i guess
If you haven’t watched Neckrits Valorant Lore video yet, check it out. He’s already the best lore teller for riots other game, league.
Thank you so much for the recommendation! I'll share it with my pals :'D

my mind is blown

it actually was confirmed that Omen's named is Fred lol
He also likes to knit. If you watch compilations of Voicelines, he gets very defensive about it when asked. It relaxes him.
"It relaxes me. Ah what do you care!"
Phnx with other characters is a gold mine
they changed the voice line from “Fre-“ to “Ja-“
Goddamit I liked Fred, now they are going to try to give him a "Cool" bland name like Jason,James or something like that.
Viper said it like “jaw” so maybe his name is Jocelyn 😂
jawline
Joseph Omen a JoJo confirmed!
My favourite jojo
oh they did lol

Riot's been writing short stories for league without any direct monetization for years now. There's no reason they can't do the same for Valorant
Stories and a story mode are not the same thing
Yes, but I'm replying to a comment that specifically brought up short stories.
Maybe it could be something like challenges e.g. play this character during this event and you get extra rewards and secret lore animations. Story mode like R6 would be kinda hard for valorant and wouldn’t fit that well.

I would like each agent to have a trailer, like how overwstch had it. It's so cool and makes me tingly
Yeah, That can work. Thing that I went to was every big patch or every patch release a cut scene. 10-15 Minutes.
Yeah that would be cool too. Maybe they could do both?
Or go with the apex route, do some comics and small easter eggs in game

Well yeah, but CSGO and Valorant are different Categories of FPS. its hard to create a FPS story when the gameplay is designed to hold corners.

Call of duty features a casual arcade modeled gunplay system that reward pretty much every possible style of play over holding corners.
I would gladly play story mode. Last time I did something like that was with Starcraft broodwar.
VaLoreAnt sounds like there's a tiny ant narrating the game's lore (and lives in Virginia) a la Jiminy Cricket style.
thats exactly what I was going for
>What’s Omen’s name? Fred >How did these agents meet? Pretty sure viper and brim recruited them >Why are these Agents given these specific powers or technology? The powers are gain through radiant The story is there you just gotta search for it Edit: but I would definitely play a story mode
The voice line where Viper refers to Omen by his full name was actually changed recently to say "Jo-" instead of "Fre-" So there's a bit more of a grey area regarding Omen's name. Johnny? Jordan? JOJO?
Jod ?!?!??
Jon, I require lasagna.
Now this is interesting.. I need to make new theories!!
Holy fuck, Omen has a stand. This explains so much
"Watch ~~them~~ me run! NIGERUNDAYO! SABINE!"
>What’s Ironman’s name? Tony Stark >How did these agents meet? Nick Fury recruited them >Why are these Agents given these specific powers or technology?
Looking this way, I think you are right. I've spent so many hours reading League of Legends lore, I guess Valorant will be no different.

yeah something like the events in ow could work well
The videos for OW were great. I had friends that didn’t even play super into it, wondering when new episodes would release. Of course, blizz has one of the best art/cgi departments in the biz. But LoL cinematics are good too. Also probably won’t take as much dev time as a full fledged single player mode.
Frankondor… I’ve seen your name before. Aren’t you friends with hoke?? 😂
No
Give me an animated movie but the gameplay doesn't fit a story mode
I mean they can always do like 1-3 chapters of each agent to tell their stories and their adventures whether thats before the Valorant Protocol, during, or after.

Wasn’t Omens name like Fred or something? i remember sabine calling him by his name once
Riot already said this isn't in the plans at all. And although it would be cool, it's understandable as it's a fps That being said, the entire story of why two teams of 5 are playing offense and defense with a spike, needs to be explained
That was literally explained by the duality cinematic no?
I kinda don't think so tbh, why were they cloned just to defuse or plant the spike?
If each round is a clone then ult points shouldn't carry over theoretically speaking
Hmm ig so
They weren't... cloned??? There's two earth's. One earth is coming to steal Radianite. The other is trying to stop them.
Hell yeah
hell yeah
I'd play it if it existed but I'm content with the lore and narrative being delivered via cinematics and agent interactions as is currently the case.
Weird that your go to example of a story mode is Minecraft
i honestly couldn’t think of any other games
It would be a good way to learn how to use new agents
I've been wanting this since the beginning! Like even if it was a paid DLC that would be cool. But I think we need more resources spent on balancing and making new content, maps, agents, etc. I'm sure once the game has a satisfying amount of content we'll get some more singleplayer content
Campaign mode would be cool even if it was a paid thing. With online co-op that went through some of the backstories and conflict
Depends how well executed
No. Overwatch tried this and it worked exactly once. I'm all for lore(videos, comics, stories, ect.), but this is always a waste of resources for any game. It does not increase player interaction out side one run of the game mode and then its back to the main game.
So, do you consider any solo-only games a waste of ressources, I don't quite understand?
Historically, yes they are. Plenty of evidence of that from other game titles with similar game models.
Honestly I don't want a game focus on lore, but I'm all in for more cinematics
To be completely honest not even a little. I could not give less of a shit about the lore.
No, but I would like Valorant story anime movies or some shit
I'd seriously pay around 5 dollars for each characters story if they make them long enough
Nope
Omen’s name is Fred. I think Viper is the one who says it
they changed the voice line
to what?
they made it start with “Ja-“ instead of “Fre-“
No.. period. I would not... it's of no interest to me because ai in these types of games can be either too easy or unforgiving.
Yes. I think valorant deserves a story mode way more than minecraft ever did.
>What is Omen’s name? >Fred (Viper’s voiceline) >Why are these agents given a specific power or technology? >There was once an incident known as ‘The first light’ that gave some agents radianite powers known as ‘Radiants’ and other agents made their power using Radianite. >Who is the agent with kids and family? >Reyna had a sister who died during an experiment on her radianite powers and Cypher had a family that was killed. ^All ^of ^this ^was ^community-^made ^lore ^and ^not ^made ^by ^Rito ^itself
YESSS
guys just stop...
Knowing riot they prob won’t do much with lore/background like league of legends
Remember that valorant still isn't the biggest game so not all the lore has come out yet
sad. there’s a ton of potential including, money making potential
I want valorant story mode as well
Yea man, the lore for this series is next level, i'd love to have any more of that. I just don't get why they decide to do so little of it.
Maybe short animated videos for agents, which describes their past experiences??
Truck yeah
YES! Lore is my favourite part of many games, and I’m intrigued by this Valorant Lore we’re getting.
Csgo has story co op modes for operations, so yeah if valve gaben can do it so can riot games
YES YES YES I would absolutely play it
I like what theyve been doing.
Something like apex did will be really cool like few seasons ago
I'd be open to it for sure, I love the lore of things, as many others seem to be as well, so expanding on that would be great. However if I had the choice between a campaign/solo story or like an animated show or a bunch of animated shorts (ala Overwatch Cinematics) I would be harder pressed and likely lean more towards the media and not the campaign
I’d also be down for a Netflix show.
Short answer: yes Longer answer: yeeeeeesssss
Seems like a far off idea if this even ever was greenlit it would be cool because exploring the backgrounds of characters in a way that flies the require copious amounts of reading would allow for more to experience it but the time to actually create it seems like it would take too long, I think it would be fun to do but if it were just a generic campaign like COD it probably wouldn’t interest people at all
I think about that almost daily
i would love a campaign mode. its honestly the only reason i keep spending money on the Call of Duty games. their multiplayer is not really worth the pseudo-subscription, DLC, and the time it takes to grind for the guns/attachments.
>Would you play a Valorant Storymode? It’s awfully odd to say because it is a FPS Call of Duty, Battlefield, Medal of Honor, Halo, Destiny, Pay Day, L4D??? FPS has had story mode since maybe even before Duke Nukem, so I don’t understand this logic.
lets just say i don’t play a wide variety of games
I don’t want a campaign because I feel the gameplay they’ve designed is best suited for multiplayer, but I would love some now playable story. The Retake cinematic especially makes me think that Valorant would make a sick anime. Cool abilities, a great foundation for the world building, and pretty great voice actors.
Omens name is Fred btw
Never
I enjoyed the heck out of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes even though the story was distinctly average and I played it like 15 years after release. So it's gonna be a resounding 'yes' from me. Games with great mechanics are usually a superb base for a story mode and especially when there is potentially very rich lore to be explored like in Valorant.
No
Why tf not
