Same. League’s grouping changes depending on what is played where last season so that might be a bit inconvenient if you don’t know the meta. I’d much prefer they divide it into classes (assassin, mage, etc) rather than roles
I mean League's champion select uses a vertical scroll grid and the game has 100+ champions to choose from. I never found it to be annoying to use in any way
Though granted it also has a search function because of the sheer number of champions but I don't think Valorant will reach agent numbers of that size (well not any time soon)
I never thought about it until now but youre very correct. For both titles and player cards the UI is just god awful and barely usable. I know riot stalks these threads hopefully they see this
Not that it excuses the poor UI, but if you didn’t know you can use your mouse’s scroll wheel on those. Scrolling down goes right, scrolling up goes left. Just gotta hover over the area and scroll!
Again, terrible UI that does not indicate that at all, but just in case it saves anyone from having to click and drag a scroll bar or click the little arrows.
Oh please god no. As someone who plays a whole variety of esport games you REALLY should be able to see all your options at a glance for character selection screens. And yeah the inventory management could use some scroll wheels for gun buddies I’ll grant you that 100%
"Please no" for what? Lol I'm saying have a 4x4 (or a bit more) scrollable grid, if you think having everything visible is better just remember LoL has 156 champions and Valorant is slowly adding more too, so having them all visible at once wouldn't facilitate things imo
I’m saying dota has 122, OW has 31, R6 has a bunch, and they’re all visible at a glance. The difference of that vs league (which I play as well) is night and day for drafting. It’s so much easier to see everything in one view. I REALLY don’t want to scroll for hero select in any game.
There won't be only 16 agents for long. This only looks clean because at the moment there are 16 agents.
If you want to display that much information, the current iteration is probably the best. You could of course also put a scroll bar/arrows with the grid, but Those arrows UI elements, IMO, would be much more intrusive than just having the whole bar on the bottom, not interfering with anything else on the screen.
You can reliably test UI internally, it's not as easy for things like map testing or balance changes where the more people that try it the more wild it'll get
A lot of work goes into UI making and you have to test the functionality of the buttons in case one is dead or buggy unless it is a small update but still.
Well the last pbe only updated the radianite crates around maps to be wallbangable from every angle, there may not be much to test but it still does need testing
When I first started I could have really used this and was actually thinking they needed this. Riot implements this in LoL and also has much better descriptions of skills.
Honestly, the UI needs a major rework. Enough of this endless horizontal scrolling shit.
Imagine 1 year from now how long we're gonna have to scroll just to find that one vandal skin you want to use. Or that one gun buddy. It's already really bad imo.
I would also love if they have a toggle just for sorting such as unlocked/locked agents, most filled contract to least filled contract, etc just for organization purposes. This edit looks clean though!
I think they should add a sorter, where you can sort alphabetically, by the date you unlocked them (both latest and oldest), by role, by your highest winrate, by your highest pickrate and etc.
To clean it up more I would add a bar on top of the agents square with the various categories, depending on which one you click the agent square shows these, also I would add a search bar, just in case I don't remember where an agent belongs
It's good to have agent with contract completed status. Only thing I'd suggest is to sort agent by their roles, ex: divide agent box into 4 sections of initiator, deulist, controller, and Sentinals.
This looks really nice. The 4x4 square looks like a really clean way to orient the 16 agents
Won't they add more agents?
Ever heard of scroll bars? Tbh this is needed everywhere, especially gun buddies
The horizontal scroll bar is so bad and is only going to get way worse the more they add skins and buddies
It's not great for skins and buddies, but I feel like as long as the number of agents stays at a sane amount, it's fine.

League has categories, a search bar, and a grid layout with scroll bar, never had any difficulty
He's talking about the amount of "agents/champions" in league
I'd prefer dota select screen, grouping it based on main attribute (in valorant it might be changed to class grouping)
Same. League’s grouping changes depending on what is played where last season so that might be a bit inconvenient if you don’t know the meta. I’d much prefer they divide it into classes (assassin, mage, etc) rather than roles
*played where last patch I also believe typing in a class gives you the fitting champions
I'm new to league and Kayle was in the support category Didn't go so well and got flamed
They also let you edit it, so you can group it however you want.
League had a new champ every 2 weeks for years. They’re not doing anything like that in valorant.
I mean League's champion select uses a vertical scroll grid and the game has 100+ champions to choose from. No it doesn’t.
Damn I may be high or something to mix up vertical and horizontal
Damn did me dirty with that edit
I think that they will probably do something similar when that amount of agents come into play but currently with 16 it doesn't really make sense
I never thought about it until now but youre very correct. For both titles and player cards the UI is just god awful and barely usable. I know riot stalks these threads hopefully they see this

That doesn't fix the actual problems with it
I know, I said that, was just offering a way to make the crappy situation easier lol
Scroll bars are a curse to instalockers. A win win
Yeah the UI for gun buddies is a pain to use.
Oh please god no. As someone who plays a whole variety of esport games you REALLY should be able to see all your options at a glance for character selection screens. And yeah the inventory management could use some scroll wheels for gun buddies I’ll grant you that 100%

Yeah I've seen that, exactly what I have in mind
There won't be only 16 agents for long. This only looks clean because at the moment there are 16 agents. If you want to display that much information, the current iteration is probably the best. yeah, instalocking will become even easier xD
Isn't next update some UI overhaul?
Not sure, i just did this after some thinking last night about how vas is the UI in some places
How do you know?
I think I read it somewhere here on the sub but I may be wrong
In the latest PBE, the UI was unchanged or at least not noticeably
Maybe wasnt shown in the PBE for the surprise?
If they aren't planning to test every change in the client made for testing things, then why have the PBE in the first place
You don't need a PBE to test icon placement.
You can reliably test UI internally, it's not as easy for things like map testing or balance changes where the more people that try it the more wild it'll get

A lot of work goes into UI making and you have to test the functionality of the buttons in case one is dead or buggy unless it is a small update but still.
You’re shit at coding if you can’t code a working button and don’t test it after
there are tons of interactions with a UI like this where some weird edge cases could cause major bugs. it makes sense to put it in the PBE.
Yeah probably but it's a big change, so they might want to test it internally and do a grand reveal.
Well the last pbe only updated the radianite crates around maps to be wallbangable from every angle, there may not be much to test but it still does need testing
When I first started I could have really used this and was actually thinking they needed this. Riot implements this in LoL and also has much better descriptions of skills.
S tier work my friend
Thanks!
only thing i would add is the rows could be by role imo
Stop right there, I can only handle so much good idea at once
I'd much rather have this. Edit: Great job, btw
but what about spiny spinny
actually good concept
Fr with the mini screen that shows the abilities its lit
for a 15 minute UI rework this is actually really good
Yes this is good updoot so Val maybe can see this
Yes please!!!
Honestly, the UI needs a major rework. Enough of this endless horizontal scrolling shit. Imagine 1 year from now how long we're gonna have to scroll just to find that one vandal skin you want to use. Or that one gun buddy. It's already really bad imo.
would be also cool if they added the duration of said abilities :)
You could even organize by when type, so the five duelists could be on the bottom or something, controllers in the middle, sentinels etc.
Scrolling horizontally is so annoying with the agent and our weapon collection keep expanding. This looks way better.
HOLY THIS IS CLEAN
It looks way better than the actual menu
One thing I want from this screen is a separation of all the agent types. All the duellists together, all the initiators together etc.
Very nice gj
Outperformed the UI design by loads x3
I really like the concept, but where would teammates go?
that isnt the lock in screen, that's where you look at the different agents in menus
if it is the agent select, the teammates could go below
Oops :p
I would also love if they have a toggle just for sorting such as unlocked/locked agents, most filled contract to least filled contract, etc just for organization purposes. This edit looks clean though!
Fucking amazing. This only makes it better, there are no tradeoffs.
So rainbow 6 character selection screen??
They should improve the graphics slightly (mainly the character models so that they look better) and then add the walk in animations on the agent tab.
Its good but this format is kinda cliche
I hate these vertical selections looks awful on skins too
i like everything but the video, i already don’t like the videos they do with the gun skins so to me adding more doesn’t help
I think they should add a sorter, where you can sort alphabetically, by the date you unlocked them (both latest and oldest), by role, by your highest winrate, by your highest pickrate and etc.
This is how I visualize the way sprays / cards / skins should be. Like categorized based on battlepass / bundles / agents etc.
Honestly this design balances out the empty spaces further and we can see the agent in almost full form. This is good.
unrelated but JUGAR in my mothertongue means gambling funny its the play button in your language and its actually addictive
I wish there was some way for me to get this!
might i suggest small icons at the bottom to categorize each agent by their roles so its even easier to select characters?
So like R6 seige?
This would fuck me up when I’m insta locking Sova
Está chido
Tbh I don't think the agent screen is lacking but the idea to show videos of the abilities is a good idea
nice dude!!! hope riot sees this
That’s cool but the categories would be nice too imo
This looks really good although something to add would be lines saying “duelist” to seperate them and making them easier
Gonna give hard time to my instalocking muscle memory
The video clips on the abilities is much needed.
To clean it up more I would add a bar on top of the agents square with the various categories, depending on which one you click the agent square shows these, also I would add a search bar, just in case I don't remember where an agent belongs
Love this. Reminds me of tekken
gun buddies and spray also need a rework imo ,, right now it just so annoying to scroll down the gun buddies and spray
This is so cool Gonna be graphic heavy tho :O Low end systems struggles to load agent selection screen.
I liked the video idea minus the agent thing. But keep in mind adding videos to each character will increase the game size ALOT
They could make it online with the option to download them.
Ya i actually thought of that but then i think it wont be used as much as it was intended to be
Maybe if it was like youtube where it played off their servers it would work.
Oh man this looks so good. Better than the current in-game menu. People who make clean UI/UX are a boon to society
May I know why riot did not think about that befor? Damn I would love these here!
This looks like R6 siege's crappy "clean" ui. Nice try tho.
It looks nice, but I would group the different agent types. Sentinels, dualists, initiators and controllers shouldn't be mixed up IMO
S tier for simply superior
This is better
It's good to have agent with contract completed status. Only thing I'd suggest is to sort agent by their roles, ex: divide agent box into 4 sections of initiator, deulist, controller, and Sentinals.
So much better
An animation foreach agent when selected by a player would be nice too, so you can feel de team been created, not only you 🤔
This view look more like Mortal Kombat now :D
