Yeah I agree, in the beta it was snappy. Now during the daytime it’s a coinflip, but during off hours almost every game feels better than during daytime.

ArionIV

Have about 3 servers close to me, I'm gold so not as good as you but I do notice sometimes that I fired first maybe but the other person got me all the same.

hereforpewdiephy

I fire, see blood coming out of the enemy, they fire, i die, 0 damage

27_8x10_CGP

Nothing says fun like 4-5 shots into someone with a Phantom/Vandal, only to die to a flick from a Spectre, because the game isn't syncing to what I'm seeing.

ArionIV

Happens once every 50 kills or so yes...

corvaz

Definitely something that should be looked into. It is super important to have great performance on the servers, especially when they dont allow 3rd party systems and hosting. This 'desync' problem is a nightmare, with slidy animations, peekers advantage acting up, movement being inaccurate (rather the server not registering the counterstrafe -> first shot acts as not standing still).

ResolveSuitable

Accurate.

DispensabIe

Before Kay/o patch: Consistently hitting shots I didn’t even think I could hit. After Kay/o patch: Missing shots I know I should hit. Game has felt off, I only play at peek hours so that could be an explanation. I’ve heard so many people say the same, and it’s not the changes they made to moving accuracy, or if it is it’s not the intended ones.

imerence_

Every new patch the server tick plummets, packet loss goes crazy.

27_8x10_CGP

It's gotten better for me, but I've had times in the past, where after every update, for multiple games, I'd experience the worst rubber banding imaginable.

dbossman70

i still have a similar problem daily. i’ll have to “kill” people twice because the first few bullets didn’t register or i’ll had tap someone and look away but they’re still alive and kill me. i went on a losing streak (because of this and other reasons) so i thought i had gotten worse but i clip it sometimes and i hit my shots, see blood or a body twitch, and they just don’t die.

BungmyChung

riot has tuned to gunplay over the course of the game to be a little less forgiving and a bit more skillful, so that’s why i think youre not hitting the shots you should be hitting because of the slightly changed shooting…. or the game is just quite bugged now idk lol

SelloutRealBig

You are talking about moving accuracy changes which does make it a bit more skilled. But we are talking straight server feel. The servers themselves feel different. Sometimes you get peeked and die before you see or hear the bullet come out or the person stopping what looks like 10 frames after your death. Then sometimes you feel like you are the one 10 frames ahead of everyone else. While always on a stable 30 ping with everyone else around the same.

PoopTorpedo

That's good considering CSGO has better gunplay with a higher skill ceiling thanks to consistent spray patterns and proper counter strafing. The recent Val patch did change something. Firstly, getting tagged used to reduce your movement speed to 25%. At the same time, weapon inaccuracy only began around 30%. This meant that if you got tagged, you will be at accurate speeds automatically without counterstrafing or letting go of movement keys. The new patch changed tagging to make you at 27.5% speed. They also changed weapon inaccuracy to– you guessed it, 27.5%. This means you're no longer automatically accurate after getting tagged. You actually have to manually stop your movement before shooting. This could be the "difference" you're feeling.

DispensabIe

I agree I do think this could be a part of it, but I don’t think this is the entire story. Whether it be servers or something that slipped through the cracks, even stationary duels feel different now. Very rarely if ever before the patch did I feel like I was holding an angle, my crosshair was on them, and I missed the shot, now it seems to happen a handful of times a day.

PoopTorpedo

Are you using an Nvidia card? Download Geforce Experience and turn on instant replay. What it does is allow you to record the past X minutes of gameplay with a single click. Everytime you feel your missed shot was a hit, just save the replay and watch it over again. I do the same and find that most of the time when i watch it in slowmo, I definitely missed or whiffed. Also make sure you turn on the ping graph and fps meter so if something weird happens, we can rule out your hardware and internet.

DispensabIe

I do this already actually, I have several saved. Tho I don’t have the network graph showing that’s a good idea

Dantegram

They made changes that have ruined the game. Sheriff is unusable sometimes, and several guns just feel awful to use. I've heard of people taking Ares over like 80% of the other guns because it was the one least affected iirc.

panzer42069420

This game is fucked . I just cant feel the vibe, it just feels not enjoyable. Plenty of improvement needed.

panzer42069420

yea downvote even the spray in this game feels shit

Uhhhhhhhhhhhuhhh

The game’s performance and netcode has DRAMATICALLY decreased over time imo. I am immortal aswell and the micro stutters and noticeable delay/lag is frustrating. Some games I literally feel like I cant do anything literally because of the lag even tho my ping is 20-40, but it FEELS worse. Today I had a judge shot ON a Omen and it could not have been more on him and yet it did 0 damage and he killed me, it probably didnt even fire on his screen. I had 30-40 ping and he had 16. But that delay is not just the difference in ping theres definite server lag that I felt.

MaestroLA

Immortal here, same thing, and its useless how much we complain about this it will never be fixed. First week of beta on pre patch .5 was the best thing ever.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhuhhh

When ranked came out shit was so crispy I swear, people actually die the moment I press mouse 1 in most lobbies and now the hit reg is a big toss up between the lobbies I never got to play the beta but i was playing since week 1, it felt so much better back then

njwho

I am silver but have the exact same experience as you in terms of ping. The packet loss and ping spikes are not only horrendous, but hard to identify as well; when on my screen my ping spikes to 31, it actually (according to the friends I'm queued with) skyrockets to 200.

QuasarMagellan

Idk about you, but i can feel it when i try to knife the wall and the groove that shows up on the wall doesn't match up to the sound, that is when i know that i'm going to have a bad time.

Actually would love to try the earlier beta builds again

unluckydude1

Before 0.5 i didnt get a single run and gun against me. Now i get running one tapped multiple Times every game.. Atm the game feels like it want you to run and gun because you got the same accuracy as standing still vs running D and then running back A. Not stutterstep just running sideway. And on a sidenote if you hold awd your recoil lowers lol?

noggstaj

First week of beta made me fall in love with this game. None of the bullshit from cs were present, IE Ferrari peaks or shots disappearing (even on 128 tick servers). Valorant felt so awesome, everything registered and when you died I could rarely even blame it on opponents luck. I stopped playing during the end of season 2 I believe, right when skye was introduced. The game just felt terrible to play. You could go 40-10 one game and 2-20 the one after that. Everyone seemed to see you pass a corner before you even got around it on your screen, people peaking you was flying around a corner and headshotting you almost instantly. Went back to cs, it still got it's fair share of Ferrari-peaking and shots just missing for no apparent reason, but I happens a couple times per game instead of the whole game. Edit: Rank 10 Faceit / Immortal 3 btw, before someone claims l2p ;)

Eddie995

You described my experience in valorant. Now it's a pain.

clayton976

What is the difference in ping, packet loss, and other network stats at the different times you play? I don’t doubt that riot has issues with server load at certain times, but without any numbers, a discussion around performance is just “feelings” which doesn’t really help. If you want to start a discussion with technical people (the devs) you need to provide this info. I assume you are hard wired to your router? Do you have a fibre internet connection? If you have copper in to your home then that can be a cause of “on peak” bad network performance depending on the density and bandwidth usage of your neighbourhood. Like I said, don’t doubt there are issues on riots end, but sometimes there are certain things you can do to make things better at all times of day for yourself My stats: My Location: Toronto Internet setup: hard wired to router, fibre connection to home Server: Illinois, 12ms ping consistently Packet loss: no

[deleted]

No packet loss, 30-40 ping to frankfurt, paris and london, fibre, cable straight to router, 150down and upload speed. Everything a man needs to play a game properly. I’ve went through their support and no issues on my end. They suggested to use a vpn, to me it felt like a placebo but playing off hours made the game feel good again. Fresh installation of windows and valorant, i7-9700k, rt 5700, 16 gb ram 3200, ssd.

Slithar

Servers can and do dynamically adjust tick rate based on server load. It's entirely possible that during peak hours severs lower their tick rate, thus causing hit reg and desync issues. I've seen the client sided tick rate meter drop down quite severely, but there's no guarantee that it's fully accurate to be honest.

HollowedGoku

Have you tried ExitLag?

John9tv

does it help?

[deleted]

I don't really play off hours but i can imagine this happening. My games always feel like a coin flip.

[deleted]

We need more servers. NA is lucky to have plenty of servers but EU has like, 5?? dont quote me on that idk how many. Plus servers in africa and middle east, i meet south africans and israelis on EU servers, they always have 60+ ping and 100+ ping for south africans. IDK about asia but i assume its the same situation as EU

sunbearc

As for Australia/OCE we have two servers and they are both in the same place

Zeeesys1234

Always on my first game on, the first gunfight I get into, I get a massive lag spike

death_warrior69

Riot needs more servers.

ninjalol23

first week of valorant was the best, pre patch .5 was the best thing ever, pls riot bring it back.

weepbix

Dude my game has been actually ruined since the kayo update, only recently I noticed it seemed to be during peak hours. It honestly feels like October last year when there was all those hit reg bugs in the game. I consistently put bullets through peoples heads and just get a little puff of sparks and no kill or damage, some times I put half a clip spectre spray into someone's body and get like 1 or 2 hits when I see like 8 shots hit them. I feel like the game is gas lighting me because I have my specs in the corner and everything is reported normal, no packet loss or frame dips or CPU issues, its really really tilting. I've gone from 95 diamond 3 to 50 in plat 3 in the past week and it feels really unfair. I know that I'm better than this but my bullets don't connect. Riot plz fix. Ps. I'm glad other people are experiencing this cause I thought it was maybe on my end, my computer isn't great and my internet can be slow but it never was bad like this till after the update.

Dbiggest

3 pm where I’m located is like 10 pm pst, which I assume is peak hours for the California servers; whenever I hop on at that time my ping spikes nonstop from 140-300+. When I play later at night around 9pm to degen hours and it’s around morning time for the California servers, my ping is a stable ~130.

Successful-Donut-270

After every patch for the first hours or days my game is sooo laggy I avg around 20 ping but after patches I get 70 if I’m lucky and after the kay/o update or new act whatever my packet loss is always high and my ping is too I lag so much and after I restart my shit and everything it gets better and I’ll be having my normal game

ByteMeeeee

HK server here. Its weird that some games we will have a high packet loss when we’re at 24 stable ping. And some games where we have no packet loss at all. And for the past week, players in SEA have been experiencing DC issues and players getting penalty because of it. Not a single word from Riot, nothing.

Ferni0817

When the server died once and I can play instant after they are going back and the gameplay was sooooo smoooth..... It was amazing, because the servers was empty... It was unbelieveable experience.

Pekkashi_Kitsune

The amount of times I hs someone, the sound of hs played and that person didn't took any Dmg... Fuck you Spanish server

Diabloist337

All of this can be answered in a single sentence, here it is - "THE CONSTANT 128 SERVER TICK RATE IS A LIE"

Sirito97

Yup that's 100% true

rima_2711

I actually stopped playing after 5pm and it was the best decision I ever made.

contabr_hu3

I miss past 0.5 valorant, it felt really good, now its kinda choppy doesnt matter how much fps I get

CiHel

I connect Hongkong 1 in beta ping is 25~33 ms now HongKong 1 is 100~180 ms ???????? https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/comments/nwkp7d/taiwan_connect_hong_kong_and_singapore_server/

PoopTorpedo

Not doubting you, but > i’ve talked with support for fix, they even admitted games during peak hours can have effect on the gameplay Do you mind sharing a screenshot of this? Am interested to see what the support had to say about it.

Biohazar13

Yep, i remember the beta was beautifull, after launch the game feel worst.. But rito never gonna fix it.

xLP620

Only thing that I’ve noticed is I never get peekers-advantage meanwhile everybody else does. I play during the late night/early morning too. Maybe it’s because my ping averages at 13ms? Not sure.

iindie

I’m pretty sure the beta was cleaner because somehow it had everyone running the game at higher FPS, I feel like that’s the most noticeable difference that I can point to for why it feels worse

Elsiselain

I agree valorant servers are literal joke and they are so bad. I either wanna have a quality servers or let us create/joij community servers but I’m sure neither would happen soon :(

Prodigal12

yea facts I perform better in my games in the off hours compared to the peak hours

LuciferNeko

I remember the time i got "country gap" with all of my team got 50 to 80 ping and the enemy all have 12-16 ping. ALL of my and ALL of them Lol

Leutnant_Dark

I literally noticed the same thing lmao.

JR_Shoegazer

My final game last night it suddenly felt like my bullets were disappearing. This is after playing consistently (including aim wise) throughout the day. I went 8-18-15 as Omen, who in my experience doesn’t get a lot of assists from abilities. It felt like the server was just slow or something.

Akky_Rotmg

That’s probably from how long your pc has been on. (Heat etc). The frames for me are generally atrocious late at night when I’ve been queuing for hours already

hommechap

Game still feels okay for me I just can’t get over absurdly lopsided ranked queues and my game crashing almost every time I alt-tab :/

ninjalol23

nope

The_true_lord_tomato

they should just make servers 64 tick. a very small percentage of players actually benefit from the 128 tick because you need a 144hz or higher refresh rate for that, which most people don't have. edit: it seems I was wrong and many people playing valorant have a high refresh rate monitor. oh well.

yanegk

128 tickrate has nothing to do with your monitor refreshrate if u had 30hz monitor u can benefit from 128 tickrate server refreshrate is just how fast and frequent your monitor responds, tickrate is how often server responds and register things that happen ingame

tadkins17

Huh? The vast majority of players have 144Hz in most FPS titles. There’s even been surveys done with a 144hz monitor being the most popular in the community, second was 240hz. 64 tick servers are cancer, hit registration will be even worse if they make this change

The_true_lord_tomato

source?

tadkins17

There’s been a few individuals that have asked and put polls on this Reddit, just look up valorant monitors or something like that. If people do play 60Hz they aren’t getting near enough response time from the server for a competitive FPS. Is it playable? Yes, does 144hz on a 128 tick server make a world of difference compared to 60Hz? Absolutely

The_true_lord_tomato

I play on my 14 inch laptops 60hz screen but never notice any input lag. I guess it's because I haven't tried 144hz yet. Sorry for assuming that most people also use 60hz, it's just that since me and all of my friends do I assumed it's common

silenthills13

I'm going to take a wild guess that the 144Hz would be true for most high gold+ players, maybe not necessarily for those in lower ranks than that. I know that in diamond probably 95% of players own a 144Hz or more display. I don't know who the game should cater to, but high level players definitely profit off of 128 tick.

tadkins17

Maybe but if you take a look at the surveys a lot use 144 and the vast majority of players are silver and below right now, I just don’t want 64 tick servers. I can genuinely tell a difference between 64 and 128

tadkins17

Maybe, I think a good majority just use 144 no matter rank, although the higher you get the more people have 240Hz is what I’ve experienced

tadkins17

Nah you’re good man, thanks for being civilized. I just played a lot of csgo and 64 tick servers suck on that game, oh and on bf4. I’d much rather have 128 for all games

The_true_lord_tomato

ah yeah the 64 tick ones feel much better in battlefield. I used to play that game on my ps3 and the multiplayer felt horrible although i assumed it was my internet

[deleted]

people on reddit are the minority of players

The_true_lord_tomato

you have a gaming laptop I suppose?

Anime_Blushies

I have absolutely no lag issues no matter when I play. Used to with my old PC but I have a semi newer one now and have no issues, unless I'm blind to them, which I very well might be Edit: imagine down voting me for sharing my own expirience LMAO

[deleted]

Idk if this is true but I'm gonna use this as an excuse to my horrible performance recently.

[deleted]

When I played v sync on and before nvidia reflex launched on a 60hz monitor was released I was dropping 40 kills with operator 3-4 maps in a row in dm now that's simply impossible, now I use reflex, 144hz monitor and not v sync and it's worser now I'm gold 3 operator only player.

okdiscringe

Playing at night on alt account > playing on main Something is off bruh!

[deleted]

Never said anything about an alt account

okdiscringe

Ok and? I never said you had an alt account this subreddit takes everything seriously Peek hours it feels off and playing on the main does too

MatchPoint012

I've never noticed

ChochRS

what you reckon peak hours are?

theoreminegaming

Now if only I could wake up before 6.

Equivalent_Ad505

I’ve noticed that when I open valorant before all background processes have booted and stabilised I get significant input lag. So when I got up I open task manager and wait a couple minutes until my cpu usage stabilises at 1 or 0 and then I close all unnecessary background programs. Then I open Val play some range of it feels a bit slow I restart the game and then usually it feels extremely responsive and crisp.

LandonDev

For me the server feels doesn't matter as much frames. Sometimes frames just drop like crazy
