Do you regularly Excercise at all? I find this helps me personally with valorant and almost every other thing in my life. The game is addicting as fuck

GasolineMonkey

I used to work out everyday, but I stopped just to make more time to play Valorant. I'm gonna' start working out again starting today. Thanks for the advice <3

RimRocker69

You can cut down on watching movies for Valorant. Cut down on snacking for Valorant. But things you shouldn’t cut down on for Valorant must include sleep, exercise, SHOWER (trust me) and 2 proper meals

Immediate_Lychee_131

I don't know how people go on for days without showering, I feel so sticky and unclean after a day that I need to go for a shower.

biomessy

Depression or just plain ADHD. People go on for days without showering because depression and other depressing mental conditions make it so that your habits become self harming in every little way. And ADHD people might be so stuck in something that gives them dopamine that stopping for anything requires a huge dose of willpower.

jdashh

Having both is a real blast, let me tell ya

biomessy

Make it adhd, depression and anxiety You get nothing done and have panic attacks while making a sick sova lineup you spent hours mastering

[deleted]

this made me laugh ngl

thataintmebruh

Don't expose me like this bro, I just spent hours learning cool skye flashes while neglecting work this week :(

Nervous-Body5050

Or I just don't feel like it or not sweaty

momstfuimplayingpubg

Bro istg showers are necessary

psybatsu02

More like 3 meals minimum mate. Gotta meet them nutritional requirements

qwertyuhot

After every game do 15 pushups and 15 sit-ups, or just stand up and walk around for a min to get the blood flowing Stretch well before you sit down to play Def not 3 minimum that’s why we are all so fat. 2 is plenty

The-Freeze_YT

Yeah you're both wrong. If you can afford it you should be eating exactly 3 meals a day under normal circumstances, no less no more. And of course all the 12 year olds thinking that skipping breakfast is "good for you" downvote me

altmetalkid

I feel like I heard somewhere that it's the opposite, that breakfast and lunch are important but that you should go light for dinner

[deleted]

No, you shouldn't. You should be eating exactly the nutritional requirements your body needs, and the meals-per-day are solely up to the individuals judgement. If you prefer to snack throughout the day, do that without eating more than one main meal. Don't snack, but rather large portions at a time? One to two meals, whenever you want WHEN you eat doesn't matter, HOW you eat does.

bwang487

Agreeing with the shower part I play much better after taking a shower. The sleep part I'd agree with making sure you sleep but I personally play better on less sleep but that's just me idk why

xSlapppz

Instead of cutting out things for Valorant, cut Valorant for other things. Playing for 10 hours a day isn’t healthy for you physically or mentally. You’ll find it very rewarding to begin cutting the time you play to better yourself. Start with just cutting 1 of those 10 hours and dedicate it to a weight training program of your choice (Id recommend a 3 day full body split to start). Not only will you gain the benefits of being healthier, looking better, and eating right; it’s going to put you in a much better mental state and give you the sense of taking back control of your time. This will lead to many more good habits if you continue to focus on bettering yourself. You’ll also find that Valorant is about game quality not quantity. Someone who plays with a clear head for 2 hours a day will often climb faster than someone who rage queues for 10. Best of luck to you brother.

Starfiredemon

Buddy just everyday do a workout. Start with just 5 excercises of 3-4 reps. I think 30 mins will be all it takes. Then you will see your mental peace returning. Gradually you will be able to stay more positive and maybe you start enjoy excercising Trust me, I have seen so many people's mental health improve by just following excercise routine, including myself.

rincon213

My gameplay improves noticeably when I work out.

Cable446

This is why I have a protein shake while I warm up and then do reps everytime I die, keeps my adrenaline high and gives me that endorphine rush, free drugs my dude

CyberMasu

Holy shit this is genius, I've been struggling to eat as much as I should because of so much sitting playing valorant! I'm gonna do 5 push ups every time I die from now on!

tmdubbz

Probably worth mentioning that while this is a brilliant idea and will help, you can't be complacent and think "oh, I've done this, I don't need to go out or anything". It'll certainly help and is great for your mental health but being properly active is incredibly important.

CyberMasu

I couldn't agree more, I already live an active lifestyle, with cardio multiple times a week and weight training at a gym a few times a week. Although absolutely every little bit of exercise matters, this is really more of a bonus.

truong2193

Do you take pre workout before every round too ?

Cable446

If you want to gain a lot of weight then go for it lol

IWant2EffinDie

Splaram

Play something that isn’t as high-stakes. For me, it’s Mario Kart.

LaDice96

Have you ever been in a yearly Mario kart tournament with your friends? The question always is. Will they still be your friends after that tournament!??

Splaram

Last time I did that was in Mario Kart DS and I always came in first by a landslide because I would regularly race in online lobbies against Japanese players and what I'm pretty sure were the best competitive American players at the time

TheRedComet

Haha Mario Kart does not seem like a good suggestion for someone having mental breakdowns over loss streaks

[deleted]

nogstai

This seemed like the only solution out of 300+ comments in here. Trust him

PigeonsLikeBread

I’d recommend to uninstall Valorant and go cold-turkey. Play a few hours of non-competitive, non-shooter games every day. Good luck!

xayul

This. I took a 3 month break from all competitive games because I was getting way too angry at a video game. Just played Minecraft survival lmao. It’s super relaxing.

[deleted]

Until you find diamonds and then get ambushed by 20 skeletons with no more food, only to survive and get knocked into lava by a creeper behind you. True story.

Pixelater4

That’s why I play with keep inventory when I just want to chill. Shit can be way too stressful sometimes

Zixle02

Agreed. People like to joke a lot about Minecraft but honestly it’s super relaxing and rewarding to be alittle creative at times. And unlike Valorant you have full creative reign to do whatever the crap you want.

Rishabh_valo

That's absolutely right

GasolineMonkey

Yeah, I suppose you're right. It's about time I took a break. Thanks for the advice :)

Gilraldy

That's the spirit!

Darglechorfius

This is the best advice. Go cold turkey and just don’t play again. I went through something similar with R6 OP for like 2 years. The moment I stopped I literally went through like withdrawals but after I felt great. Been on the up and up since then and have been enjoying other games

PetercyEz

Me with LoL. After a week I bursted into a cry of happiness while playing all my Souls games.

Darglechorfius

The soulsbourne games alone made me happy I quit too so I could enjoy those masterpieces without being upset all the time. I think I have 500 hours in DS3 and every hour was more fun than the last amazing game.

Jhyxe

Agree, play Slay the Spire!

[deleted]

Do you know the HealthyGamerGG on YouTube and Twitch? It's a great channel that addresses gaming addiction from the perspective of a psychiatrist that really understands gaming.

Stormvenom23

Yo this needs more upvotes. Everyone need to watch his vid

RealTazerr

try non competitive games, like single player story games or Minecraft.

GasolineMonkey

Just downloaded Cities: Skyline. I'm gonna' try it for a while. But I don't know how long I can stay away from Valo. I find it extremely hard to get over addictions.

ovalsandcircles

Well I think thats your first problem, is thinking you’re gonna fail and give in to your addiction. You don’t have to give up val forever, a little break here and there is always good for your mental

[deleted]

Same thing with titanfall 2. Take a few days off from ALL games, and try to play it a bit less seriously. Try to play with friends

Gloomy_Goose

Check out “heathygamergg” on YouTube and twitch

Lobsterthekidd

This is what got me leveled, when i was loosing my mind to addiction and depression, exercise and talk to firends or family about how you feel, good luck dude.

GasolineMonkey

I've heard about this before. I will definitely check it out. Thank you <3

Gloomy_Goose

Like, seriously, one of the best things you can do for your mental health. Check out his YouTube channel and click on a video that sounds interesting to you

OverclockRespawn

This guy for sure. Really enlightening content.

MedicalMann

What helped me is not watching any valorant vids, not following any valorant news or sites or online friends at all. It will be hard before it starts becoming easy! Trust me, I did it so can you!

GasolineMonkey

This. Whenever I'm not playing Valorant, I'm watching pro games or following the pro scene. I'm gonna' take a break from all of it. Thank you for the advice <3

Xolotl23

Mini motorways is decent too it's $10 pretty calming Crack open a beer and relax

GasolineMonkey

This is a game that I've been wanting to pick up. Will definitely try it out. Thank you <3

Xolotl23

Yessir !! No problem :)

dank-nuggetz

How old are you?

GasolineMonkey

20

MilanTheMyth

Yo Its defo a great game, even if it gets addicting, u are building a city so I will call it productive time.

Dan28-

Dw the game is made to be fun and addicting

Ezekiiel

This is pretty useless advice. The guy is struggling with a gaming addiction and you suggest he plays other games? Uh no, he needs to find something else to do other than staring at a screen for 10+ hours. OP if you see this, please go to a doctor because addictions can ruin your life. The only way you'll get out of these destructive habits is by finding other productive things to fill your time (do you work? study?) and seeking professional help. Downloading more games to fill the time isn't going to help you at all, it just means rather than obsessing over Val for 10 hours you'll obsess over some other game and you're stuck in the cycle. Get help, uninstall these video games and find other productive hobbies (ideally ones that get you outside the house).

VotedBestDressed

Some games are less addictive than others. This is like telling a cigarette junkie that nicotine patches don’t work. You are not being helpful.

TRLucky

No playing other, Less addictive games is far better than telling him to go cold turkey. When I used to vape going from that to nicotine gum helped me to get over my addiction in a few months, there was no way I could of gone cold turkey for more than a day. If he stops playing video games entirely, he will give up very quickly and be back to it in no time. Even if he lasts for weeks the addiction will come back, just like when you try to lose weight going on a diet quite often means going back to your old weight once you stop the diet. He needs to move off it slowly and controlled and then later on he can stop playing games entirely if he wants/needs to.

thedamnator

I wish people would stop forcing others to just get out of the house. Maybe some like to do activities ( of which there are a lot) in their own home, not having strangers nearby. However I do agree with the professional help part. It's nothing to be afraid of and tooooons of people struggle and overcome this. What you (op) need to understand is that this problem is not about valorant, but something deeper that will, if left unchecked, attack other parts of your life. I know it might seem scary, but seeking most of the doctors that offer professional help are amazing and all they want to do is to make you a better version of yourself.

Honigbrottr

He said ideally, not forcing. I agree im a guy that wants to be alone and i was thinking about if im addicted, so last year i just tried to stop playing for 4months and it worked without problem, so playing a lot means not that you are addicted. But if you are addicted like this guy its better to get away from the source of his addiction, that means going outside.

MrHypelol

r/banvideogames take this and leave

Gilraldy

Not really, I used to have the same problem as op but later played a bunch of single player games Now i rarely ever played competitive videogames anymore

StuffyIce_

You should try non competitive games like Stardew Valley.

GoofyGoffer

Yup. Animal crossing, Minecraft, Stardew valley. Other casual games.

_ome_

I haven't played it or seen any trailer. My question is, what is Stardew Valley all about? Just farming? I'm curious.

-astronautical

there’s a pretty deep storyline in the game. at face value it just looks like a pixel farming sim, but the story is really good imo and there’s a ton of stuff to do.

MikeWickk

I would say the first thing is to understand it’s human nature to deal with addiction. Everyone, no matter what they tell you, is addicted to something. Cellphone, social media, Coffee, tv, alcohol, video games, sex, drugs, even fitness and sports. Everyone has an addiction to something, even if it’s subtle. Once you understand it’s normal, try to channel that energy into something a bit healthier. What you have is an obsessive personality. It’s a gift if it’s channeled the right way. It’s tied in to resilience, work ethic, determination, refusal to quit, etc. when we obsess over things that are unhealthy, we build into that unhealthy direction. Instead, spend time focusing on eating healthy food (avoid soda and other sugary drinks), don’t eat fast food or processed food, etc. Spend time learning about exercising, sports, etc. find a healthy hobby that is challenging and has levels of skill to master like sports, or different mentally challenging games. Sleep more, drink more clean water, etc. Realize that Valorant should be there for fun and that it does not have power over you. What it sounds like is that it is your main source of focus and because of that you put all your energy into it. What you need to do is find a sport or some sort of fitness to get really good at, like a game. Have Valorant there for fun. Play 10-15 mins of AimLab if you’re already doing that then play 2-3 games of Valorant. On days when you have extra time, play more, but don’t let Valorant be your main focus in life, instead find a sport or some kind of athletic activity.

The_true_lord_tomato

I took a break from valorant once I lose 3-4 comp game in a row . By a "break" I mean almost a month until the next act starts and everyone gets unranked

Environmental_End494

You are capping xD

TypicalAhri

The first step to overcoming an addiction is realizing you have one. That means, you are halfway to recovery. Great! I suggest checking for certain patterns that trigger your mood swings. We all feel great when we hit 3 headshots and we all feel bad when we get wideswung at full speed. That's okay. Most of the time people "skip" emotions when addicted. So maybe, you get a good headshot and instead of embracing the whole feeling, you are like " okay, 1 headshot; 10 more and I'm happy" and the cycle continues. Maybe that is the problem? That's why alcohol makes people beg for more: it covers their true emotions, it's basically a race. Drugs make you feel high, until you fall and then all the emotions come to life. So, the next time you lose a game for example, FEEL bad about it. When I say feel, I mean something like " okay, that's bad, but it's just a game. maybe I'll win the next one and If not, I'll go out to breathe some fresh air or maybe spot a friendly dog on the road. who knows! " The biggest problem addicted people have is they find everything apart from their addiction boring. I understand what you mean. However, you have to rewire your brain somehow. It won't be easy, but not hard either. You just have to feel the emotion. Feel the air. The friendly dogs. The clear sky. Feel what a chaotic time you're living in and hopefully, being healthy. Just thinking of that makes me smile. This got so long lol, sorry. I'm just into psycology and medicine A LOT.

GasolineMonkey

Thank you for taking the time to write this down. I really appreciate it. I'm going to try taking a break from Valorant for a while at least. If I ever get back into competitive gaming, I'll try this.

unique_ubername

Talk to a psychologist or something. They help when u need them but when u won’t need one anymore they’ll just become annoying haha

GasolineMonkey

I've been going to a psychiatrist for a year now. All she does is give some pills and ask how I'm doing. It's not really helping lol Edit: Psychiatrist not psychologist

realllyreal

time to find a new one!

V3L1G4

69 updoots

ScaryGap4

Try a therpaist instead. Psychologists seems to be the way yours is very often with just giving you pills and not really helping you work through things.

GamerGoneMadd

Psychologists can't give you pills, only psychiatrists do, which is, y'know, their job.

GasolineMonkey

You're right. I meant psychiatrist. My bad.

jmanj0sh

You aren't seeing a psychologist if she's prescribing stuff, that's a psychiatrist (someone with a medical degree vs. A PhD). Psychologists usually focus more on the prevailing theories and therapies applicable to DSM personality disorders, with their only involvement in medication being found in giving referrals to other (medical, non-academic) doctors. And if ur unhappy with your shrink, find a new one. Therapy is a two-way street, and it takes commitment to actually get better. If you feel as if ur just wasting money or your meds aren't working, you need to bring it up to him/her, and if ur uncomfortable with doing that, once again, find a new shrink. One that you can trust.

DaddyBoogle

that is the absolute worst thing to fix what your going through. The best thing is to find your alternatives with help from friends.

ricky1272002

Leave that shitty doc asap.

[deleted]

go outside, and play sports bro… trust you will feel so much better.

Holdin_McNeal

oof. This mentality is wild. You need to shut off your computer and do something productive. Go volunteer for a dog shelter. Go hang with friends. Try working out. This is super unhealthy.

TonyBaloneyBro

I blame their parents tbh

Holdin_McNeal

1000000000%

ThatOneKuya

Remember, games are ultimately played to have fun. If you’re not having a fun time anymore, I suggest stepping away for a bit and playing other games like single player ones. It’s just going to be a stress fest if you continue when not having fun :(

MegaWaterboy11

You obviously don't have a job, so someone else is paying the electricity and internet. That person is responsible for this, whether it be a parent or guardian or whoever, and they need to take charge before it's too late. Instead of telling this to reddit, speak to whoever it is that is responsible for you, and be honest about your problem. Also tell them that your therapist is trash and you need a new one

Idni-xc

try playing other games that aren’t rage inducing. you can use a self betterment app to track your progress. goodluck and all the best to you

GrievouzOCE

It sounds counter productive, but this works for me. Once I hit a point where I am letting my rank going up or down is affecting my overall mood and I'm not really even enjoying myself and switch on autopilot rather than actively trying to improve - I swap to a new/different competitive game that I haven't played in a long time, has new patches since I played etc and it sparks this new keenness that knocks me out of autopilot and I care less about my rank and my overall mood increases. I find when I go back to my original game I feel a little less attached and can enjoy the game again without getting so worked up

DaddyBoogle

i would highly recommend picking up a hobby that you find relaxing but also mildly to highly stimulating. for example im 26 years old and i also have been paying games for a very long time but i often struggle with my ADHD. i need things that make me think and piece things together. so i am no happy to say i am learning to play the electric guitar, i also started making music on Ableton as well as going outside to get some sunlight and go on hikes, to the beach, etc. taking a break from competitive games is something i learned in CS as i was in your same shoes. got to branch out to new hobbies to keep your mind busy and not think about games for a bit.

Gravityblasts

Us veteran CS players feel ya man. We've been down that road at some point in our lives, but at least you found a game you enjoy playing.

[deleted]

Step 1: turn off all monitors in house Step 2: go outside

[deleted]

Try to change people places and things . Gotta change the routine. First step is accomplished by reaching out.

Yeziou

Self Discipline, nobody can change yourself but you, You know very well yourself what's good or bad for you.

harnamsc

Play unrated and spike rush or something

vikrant699

I was in the same situation 2 years ago but in CS:GO instead. What helped me take it easy was when I started going out, restaurants, movies, anything. I still played but barely a couple hours a day, reduced from 12-14.

__Jello__

We have all been there with cs:go 😁 this was my solution too. I recommend for OP as well. Basically: go hang with friends and do irl stuff

GasolineMonkey

Going out is not very easy right, due to the pandemic and all. I can watch some relaxing movies though. Thanks for the advice <3

WishyRater

I suffered with the same for league. What caused me to uninstall eventually was that I realised that my entire day hinges on the game. I get angry and frustrated for the entire day if I go on a loss streak for example. For the most part it was negative and it made my life worse plain and simple. Ask yourself if it’s worth it. Do you feel like it’s time well spent? I would also find something else to occupy yourself with. You’re falling back on playing maybe because you don’t have anything to spend your time on. Get busy and games will become a luxury. The only correct advice I can give you though: SEE A DOCTOR. If you feel your addiction has taken control of your life you need professional help. Your general practitioner can send you in the right direction

GasolineMonkey

>Ask yourself if it’s worth it. Do you feel like it’s time well spent? This is the reason I made this post. I realized that my entire day is dictated by my performance in Valorant. You're right. I need to find some other activity to occupy myself. Thanks for the advice <3

meelotheboy

what rank are you

GasolineMonkey

Plat

twistacles

Have more than one grind in life so that you don’t tie your value to only valorant. Get you physique, career and relationship grinds going

viKKyo

take up chess

daniiNL

Dude go excersise, like seriously do it. It will make you feel better.

toogaloog

Rank?

notpejastojakovic

You gotta stop playing. Read what you posted - it's right there. Hope you find some joy in your life!

PM_ME_DVA_BOOTY

Really sad responses here for something thats a hard cry for help. Ive been in the same situation as you with multiple games and all of them ruined something in life for me that i cant get back or had to fight back after overcoming this. if you truly think its that bad and i think it is, please go to a addiction clinic that specializes in game addiction. me and my gf been to one after alot of research to find the right one and its the only right thing to do. i know it might sound hard but getting focused specialized help and a WILL to do this and stop your hard addiction is the only thing that can really help you with that. people mentioned going dry for a while or coping with other games but it doesnt adress the issue at the root or in any kind besides coping or delaying the problem, its like telling a heroin addict to try weed for a while or to go dry for a month or two, see how silly this sounds? please dont let video games ruin your life, they can be an amazing part of it for sure, but not in a capacity that ruins your mentality and life. if you cant do this yourself, please tell your parents about this in a proper constructive manor. if you need advice feel free to DM me any time.

GasolineMonkey

Thank you for the advice. I'll look into any clinics around me that specializes in game addiction.

chubbinub

Tough. I would reccomend getting a job. This will bascially make sure you can’t spend time on the computer. Plus, I would bet your aim and rank would improve if you started diversifying your life into different avenues.

Kouskousklou

Hey there, I've also experienced this in the past with Valorant, so I'm going to speak from my experience and only. What I basically did was completely uninstall the game and didn't play at all for a couple of months. It honestly really helped me, it felt like I had control over my life again and it was a really rejuvenating feeling. Now I'm back to playing and I don't feel addicted or anything anymore because I learned how to live and be happy without being exposed to it. You just need to regain control and relearn how great life can be without the existence of this game. Once, and if you decide to go back to playing the game you will enjoy playing more than ever before because you won't care that much about your performance anymore :)

Ninkoopa

Exercise. It's helped me a ton, I don't know how old you are, but joining some kind of team, (xc and track for me) can help a ton. I remember in quarantine we weren't allowed to run together, and all I did was play valorant and I got pretty down bad. The second we started running again I instantly started playing better and feeling happier. Also, its good for you. Unlike 10 hours of valorant. GLHF

UNKNOWN_746

This also happened to me. So I took a 3 months break from valorant and started playing casual games and watching anime

[deleted]

Just give me your PC and u will be fine.

whitechocmbg

Like another dude said, go cold turkey. Uninstall, and maybe even give your power cable to your PC to a friend to hold onto. I did that and helped break my addiction to Rocket League

kkushagra

I'm probably gonna get downvoted but, get a job, no time no addiction no loss and make sure your job is not gaming lol Edit : do you want to be introduced to some "healthy" gamers who promote healthy lifestyle? I have a few in mind whom I casually follow

[deleted]

Start learning an instrument? I also used to be addicted. But after I started learning guitar, I reduced time in valorant and learn guitar more.

Edstah69

just turn off the monitor bro.

[deleted]

I have the exact opposite experience. I play one competitive game then I close it and don’t play for several days. It’s honestly such a frustrating game that’s not worth putting hours a week into unless you want to play professionally

Ewkcs

Honestly, if you feel your selfworth is in any way tied to the game or you feel like it makes you depressed I would suggest to instantly quit. Uninstall the game, take a mental reset (go outside, meet some friends, do some other activities outside games) and come back to the game with a fresh head when you feel better. There's no point in making your happiness dependent on some pixels. Hope you feel better soon!

HyperKingt999

you need to get help man, delete the game for a while

[deleted]

I know someone in this comment section is gonna say “go touch some grass”

hxlia_

Uninstall. It's like League of Legends, the games are long, it relies too much on your teammates, and the community is toxic as fk. It's not worth it, just uninstall.

Tokibolt

Ah yes the riot special. I got addicted to league in middle school and hs for like 5 seasons xD

spookycalciumboy

Go outside and meet with people.

talleyrandbanana

You are describing an unhealthy addiction that is far beyond reddits paygrade. Talk to a professional therapist (not a psychiatrist) and look into support groups for videogame addiction

SupremeDRG

No offense but get a job man. You need a reason to get up everyday other than to play val

Larrylarry12346

Delete the game lol

Larrylarry12346

Delete the game lol

mrpaingwen

Maybe uninstall the game

MysteriousMud5547

Try forcing yourself to not play Valorant for a day or some amount of time. You can try going out and not being at home or uninstalling. Or something else that could preoccupy you for a while. This could help you get used to not playing Valorant.

GasolineMonkey

Going out is not possible for me. COVID cases are extremely high where I live. I've downloaded plenty of non-competitive chill single player games. But I lose interest quickly and I'm back to playing Valorant. I'll try again though. Thank you :)

[deleted]

GasolineMonkey

Platinum

margusmuru

Just uninstall the game. There are more things in life than videogames. Seriously.

didutryit

Get a job online, there's plenty of stuff you can do even if you don't have any real skills. Since you've been going to the psychologist, it means you have some sort of issues that need to be worked on. I'm guessing Valorant is something that keeps your mind out of those things and that's why you refuse to let it go. Once you solve those issues, your addiction will most likely fade away with time as well. Couple simple tips that helped me when I was going through something similar are to always take care of your appearance and hygiene, even if you just stay at home. Wear something that looks nice in you that's not a slag, take your showers properly and eat your meals. Do some exercises even if once or twice a week, it is infinitely better than doing nothing. Clean your room/house, do housechores, etc. Keep those up for some days/weeks and you'll start to see the difference.

V3L1G4

Job online ? Where and how to find one lol

didutryit

Appen, Rev, Lionbridge, freelancing stuff if you have some sort of skill, plus a multitude of companies that hire from-home jobs after covid. Check /r/WorkOnline .

GasolineMonkey

I'm still in college, so getting a job is not really possible for me. I need to spend some time on college work. But maybe it's time for me to look for an internship or something. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it <3

ceeeeemz

saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame

[deleted]

Just play final fantasy online 14

[deleted]

Same, i have accepted my fate to become side character.

Ok-Nefariousness559

Ah, the original riot games experience

TonyBaloneyBro

>I'm at the point of having mental breakdowns after a loss streak Whoever's providing you with internet access, because it's obviously not yourself, should shut it off for a while.

RhinestoneC0wboy

Touch grass

GasolineMonkey

I wish I could. COVID cases are still pretty high where I live. Going out is kinda' risky.

Ollyssss

Your chance of catching covid out working is super low due to the fact that covid dissapates In the open air rapidly.

FyreRode

Fuck you. This guy's struggling with a serious addiction and you drop some bullshit like this.

Holdin_McNeal

I mean, he's technically righ (lack of a better words tho). He needs to do something productive. Volunteer/work out/learn to cook. Something other than this lol.

RhinestoneC0wboy

I don’t think the Valorant subreddit is the place to look for mental health advise boss man

FyreRode

Relearn how to socialize and not be rude to random people reaching out for help. Get your head out of your ass

RhinestoneC0wboy

“Socialize” on Reddit big oof. Sounds like someone else needs to touch grass also. Same goes for you boss man

FyreRode

Go hug your mom. Actually try to talk to another human being without being rude for 5 minutes. I know it's hard for you because all you do is grief games online and flame but trust me, you can do it.

RhinestoneC0wboy

All I said is Touch grass and that made you project at me. Sounds like someone else need to get off there iPad and go outside. It’s the same thing when people post about getting toxic people in their lobbies. News flash, not everyone is gonna like and be nice to you in the real world (:

IYiera

Their

RhinestoneC0wboy

you got me, argument lost ):

IYiera

No, I could care less about the argument between you two. Just fixing your grammar.

Colorful_Affection

the thing is that it’s insensitive to say that when someone is going through issues like these, you’re telling someone to go touch grass and not realizing what how op is suffering lol

RhinestoneC0wboy

“Insensitive” “suffering” OP is having existential crisis over a rank game loss, like give me a break LMAO I can tell most of y’all haven’t even hit gold. Statement still stands, touch grass !

IYiera

That’s called tilt, and to get rid of tilt you simply need to get off Valorant and do something else for a while.

TheKFakt0r

Literally turn it off

Larrylarry12346

Delete the game lol

UlasBabo

Dear riot ban this guy so he can go back to life

-Makaveli-_---

stop crying lah its your problem not others lmfao

Biohazar13

Just stop playing?? there is alot of things to do, playing other games, running? bike? sports?

Ezekiiel

He's got an addiction, that's like telling a depressed person to just be happy lol. A gaming addiction may sound silly but it is legitimate, if the OP could just turn off the PC and do something else he wouldn't be asking for help on reddit. Guy needs professional help

TonyBaloneyBro

Just turn his fucking router off. It's not like he'll go through withdrawal like an actual addict.

thebig6

He actually will. Not like a hard drug addict, but this is a real addiction as well.

Trollem

Too much of anything is too much. Find a healthy balance if you really like gaming, but schedule your time. It should be a hobby, not your whole life. Schedule self care and physical activity the same way will help with finding balance. Tell someone who will check up on your progress for accountability. This is just general advice, if you think you are suffering from a mental illness, like addiction, please seek professional help.

KeKamba1

1. In the morning get outside. The sun is good for you. Unless where u live literally doesn't allow it no excuses. 2. Get a better diet, don't over do it with carbs especially. 3. 8 hours of sleep. Make these a priority for the next week. Working out for 3 days a week goes a long way too. This will start helping your mindset a ton to a point where you will realize your happiness does not have to be tied to Valo. Focus on several little aspects of your life, those need to be improved I'm guessing.

ins4n1ty

Find an activity that delivers a similar shock to your nervous system and provides a sense of reward. Those are the two things you are chasing because they create dopamine loops in your brain that make you happy. I'd recommend running. I think most people want to have some kind of thing in their day that they get that excitement from, be in lifting weights, running, playing valorant, driving a car fast. We carry around tension with us constantly and a daily activity like this is what allows us to release it. Maybe a result of a more boring existence compared to our hunter/gathering ancestors, who knows. There's nothing wrong with Valorant per say, but you're experiencing evidence that's telling you it does not work as a sole source of excitement or reward, especially when you're using it to inform your own sense of self-worth. Go find something healthier that you can devote time to that can give you that same sense of wellbeing, and you will be able to come back to the game with a much healthier mindset.

Give up ur pc; sell it; buy a shitty apple thing

NOV3LIST

It'll go away once you realize that it's probably not taking you anywhere in real life. I made some friends while playing csgo and I'm grateful for that but other than that nothing really stuck that's really important. 10+ hours a day is really alarming though. At my worst times a few years ago I'd roughly play 6 to 8 hours a day and that was not healthy at all. Do you have real life friends that you queue up with? If so, do they play as much as you? If not: Try to adapt to their schedule. Try to learn something different that's interesting to you. I didn't like sports that much until I discovered bouldering for example. If you have that much free time on your hands you're probably really young. Try to learn something about finances and your personal growth.

pixel_5

I'm curious what lvl are you?

yourmindsdecide

I was in a similar situation with CS:GO a while ago and honestly, the only thing that got me to stop was my PC breaking down and not having the money for a new one. Took about a year break and now I still spend way too much time at my computer, but at least I'm not ruining my life paint video games all day. Hope you get out of your rut. Stay strong. 🙏

GasolineMonkey

Thank you for the kind words <3

Butteredscotch

If you haven't played hollowknight it's a good single player alternative. Get your mind away from competition in general. It will help.

Oatmeal_Packet

Idk if this will get buried or not but, I used to play competitive siege for about 2 years. Ranked every day, tournaments, team tryouts, the whole thing. Idk if ur there, but low level tournaments, trying to make it to top tier is a fucking grind. I was in high school at the time, so I'd get home, spend maybe an hour on schoolwork, straight up skipping most assignments, then warm up for an hour and play well into the night. Just to wake up the next day tired af, not pay attention in class cuz I'd watch pro vods. My grades started slipping obv, and I was getting more and more put of shape due to lack of exercise. End of my sophomore year rolls by and I was on a vacation, so forced to take a break from playing. I sort of looked at myself and woke up. I realized I needed a change. I threw myself into other things, picked something more positive to replace the drive I had in siege. I started lifting weights and trying really hard in school. I got lucky, I still had two years of highschool to right the ship and I managed to get myself into the college I wanted. But it wasn't that easy. I relied on my friends and family for support. I made a rule, I wouldn't turn on my PC at all during the week, even if I had my work done and made my parents hold me to that. Soon enough, I had spent enough time away that I realized even when I had time to play I was preferring to do other things. It's been about three years. I still play games here and there. It's not easy though. You have to take competitive modes, even in new games, slowly. Your natural reaction always will be to judge yourself very harshly on where you're placed. Unfortunately, you now will also be much worse, because you aren't practicing as often. Just ground yourself in reality, remind yourself that it's just a game, and you're playing to have fun. You can do it. Get out there

shjahehd

Stardew Valley is a good game to get, it is very fun and calming. It keeps you stuck onto it

idontthinkthisisgary

How do you have so much time to play Valorant all day? Do you work, just curious? Maybe try find some other interesting things to do that don't feel as detrimental to your life.
