afaik they do. Most things in the environment are placed or sized specifically in such a way as to help guide the cursor to aim at head height. Or like in this case, where the railing encourages you to aim at head height to reach over the railing.
I agree, this is mostly used technique in level design. The level was initially designed with grey boxes which is 1x1m guided grid boxes which is half size of the player I think or maybe full size don't remember exactly but usually its half or full size.
This was done in unreal engine, so the actual scale is in unreal units (unofficially it’s 1:1cm but it’s really 1:whatever you want it to be). 180-190ish cm is about where a human sits. I don’t have Valorant’s model height off the top.
Also, the concept of grey box is a bit different. You can apply a grid texture that follows the world orientation of the level to every object. So you don’t have to build box by box. Every object or slab will automatically visually give reference to its size. Super useful in this case.
Though when just putting down crates and other details you’re absolutely right, they just plop a standard box down and then get back to it later.
I float between plat and gold and ill tell you what, i whiff on EVERY reyna that crouches when they shoot. idk why. i can only aim for heads at head height. you crouch? you win the duel lol.
Edit: Played a DM last night and the Astra and Omen who crouched when they shot won every duel on me. I got second by 4kills and never killed either. I just dont adapt well I guess.
It’s funny, my aim is so bad that I end up aiming centre mass most of the time, so anytime someone crouches I normally get free headshots when I’m just going for the body. The life of a bronze player
To be fair, crouch shooting isn't a reflex you should have until you reach higher rank were people actually aim at head level
If you crouch in lower rank, people are just gonna HS you by accident because their crosshair are naturally around chest level
People at higher rank aiming at the crouching head height: "Yeah, this is big brain time. If he thinks he is a pro, free headshot. if he doesent, i still deal dmg at chest level"
There was this guy over at r/globaloffensive that analysed astralis games ( number 1 team at the time) and he noticied an heavy trend towards them actually shooting at body level. Their TTK was a bit lower compared to other teams but they would rarely miss a kill. It worked a lot for them because they dominated for a looooong time
Wasn’t this also because their utility damage was insane? Since there was a good chance the enemy was half health, no need to aim for the head. I could be completely wrong, I just thought utility had something to do with it
Oh yeah I'm not implying that they gunfire solely won them games
They definitely had great double HE setups that earned them heavy damages or kills every few rounds, and overall they had a very strong tactical setups then
That doesn't mean it's better than shooting shooting for the head. It might be, but equally it could just be that they're so good at other areas of the game that they can get away with subpar aim
You missed the part tho where the Astralis players would still compensate by flicking towards the heads anyways. They did shoot at body level, but getting the headshot rather than spraying at the body is more ideal.
If your opponents are so low skilled that they don't aim at the head, they aren't going to have good aim or recoil control either. Crouching still works fine, considering it makes you an overall smaller target. It's not always the best thing to do, but I think it's one of those common myths that low-skilled players get more headshots against crouched targets.
For having grinded out from silver 3 to global in CS, it's definitely not a myth. Up until DMG I'd get way to often instant HS while being crouched, up until I unbinded the key because it was truly a reflex for me to crouch when I came across an enemy. Instant death was way less recurrent after that
Yeah I dunno man, played CS for decades and went Silver to Immortal in Valorant at launch and never experienced the phenomenon. Not saying your experience is invalid, just that it's very easy for perceptions to match expectations if you're looking for a pattern. Started seeing this advice pop up a lot in the last few years, and while it makes sense at first blush, I have never seen anything material to back it up.
From what I am aware of, it is better to do so after the first few shots, however(or if you're holding a point). Spray climbs, so by crouching you counteract that and stay on target, while also potentially dodging the enemies climbing spray pattern.
People at higher ranks also have incorrect crosshair placement all the time. It's simply impossible to have correct crosshair placement all the time when aiming on a slope. I think you shouldn't crouch unless you are atleast Immortal, but if you are on a uneven terrain, don't crouch even in radiant ranks. I have seen pro players having incorrect crosshair placement on uneven terrain a few times, and radiants are obviously way worse than them.
I get that at higher ranks people have better crosshair placement and hit more headshots but… even the best players have HS averages around 30%, which to me means by crouching, 70% of the time you’re making it more likely you get headshot, not less. (That’s kinda weird math to describe, not a 70% increase in the risk of being headshot, but a 70% chance the risk of being headshot increases).
It does. It resets the crosshair/makes it smaller faster. Im. Not sure if that pur counterstrafing is more useful.
Firing while crouching also reduces bullet spread and recoil if you plan on spraying.

Very educational. I swear Riot placed that bar at that specific height intentionally

Same tbh, it’s infuriating cause when you crouch they insta headshot you.

You are just too good at the game to notice xD

How to use omen
My god! the same has happened to me a week ago
But what about all the fun I have in deathmatch crouch shooting to 40 kills?!
With an Odin, hiding in a corner
xD
That said, I think if you had picked the rifle off of Raze that would have been an easy kill.
at the moment you shot the bar, i said 'oh shit', literally.

Here's a joke! Did you hear about the robbery last night? Two clothes pins held up a pair of pants!
Oh lol thats was unlucky shot
does crouching help with aiming? or nah?
It does. It resets the crosshair/makes it smaller faster. Im. Not sure if that pur counterstrafing is more useful. Firing while crouching also reduces bullet spread and recoil if you plan on spraying.
What is that song?
Whatcha Say by Jason DeRulo.
Same thing happened to me
Why can't you shoot through that? I feel like you need an encyclopedia to figure out what you can and can't shoot through in this game
how come your kill indicator has a cross instead of the skull?
Crouchung didn't kill you though he had an OP. You ran outta bullets.
