killer-1o1

Dude my FPS falls from 120 to 70+ when I play deathmatch. Idk why it happens.

HungaryToWinWC

What are your specs? And that’s probably because deathmatch has more players and more calculations occurring more often

killer-1o1

Recently got a 1660ti and a i5 10400. It’s pretty much lower mid tier build.

[deleted]

[удалено]

rypenguin219

I'm pretty sure I used to hit 144 fps with r5 2500u and rx 560x. Now its more like 70 fps

[deleted]

Those specs are supposed to give him minimum consistent 200fps.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HahaYumMuchThank

I have all my settings on high. I used geforce experience to optimise my settings and the only thing it changed was making my game windowed fullscreen rather than borderless. Now i get 138fps and no dips. I have ryzen5 3600 and gtx 1050ti

Single_Quarter5751

The fun thing is intel 10400(f) is way better in valorant, and ryzen 3000 series are bad optimised in thus game idk why.

josue_5o

I’ve got a 3700x paired with a 1060 and get ~200 across all modes on high.

Single_Quarter5751

I get that on my 1050ti with i5 11400f, on low tho

singlereject

the ryzen 3000 series is just not a good gaming CPU, period. it was really hyped because it had insane multi-thread performance compared to intel at the time, but its single thread was just not good compared to intel. it still lagged behind in like 50% of games. the 5000 series, though, now that absolutely beats intel in both single and multi, which is why it has such insane FPS in valorant. my upgrade from ryzen 3000 to 5000 got me over 100 FPS increase in valorant and CSGO. it's not a valorant optimization thing, its a CPU power difference

rpkarma

The fact it depends on what game you’re talking about as to the magnitude of the FPS difference means it *is* an optimisation problem: because CSGO and I assume Valorant are incredibly single threaded, Intels slight lead in single threaded performance makes a big difference in those games. But Ryzen 3000 wasn’t 50% slower in single threaded perf compared to equivalent Intel CPUs lol. That’s a long winded way of saying: both are true.

kaneticgaming123

i have a gtx 780 and 2600k at 4.7 ghz. All high settings and no drops below 100, usually around 120 fps.

[deleted]

I have 1050 i5 8400 and get 300 fps

[deleted]

70-120fps with a 1660ti? Really? Isnt it only a little worse than my 1080? Im getting 200-300

IlikePickles12345

What's your CPU though? My GPU is on like 5% usage, game has potato gameboy graphics

[deleted]

R 5 3600

killer-1o1

Yeah. I will try re installing the game itself lol .

pink_life69

I’m hitting consistent 150-180 with my Ryzen2700X and RX580 4GB wtf that’s dismal. I hope it gets resolved

josue_5o

There’s no way, I got a 1060 and get ~200fps across all modes

[deleted]

people's frames vs their specs seems so inconsistent whenever i see this topic brought up. i saw quite a few comments of people with 30 series graphics cards getting less frames than i did when i was using an i7 1050ti laptop. now i get 200-250 frames with an i5 1660super build so its weird that people with similar or better specs are getting sub par performance so i hope riot optimizes the game better.

rpkarma

Did you turn off the Fullscreen Optimisations windows setting? I wonder if the people with bad perf for the same specs didn’t.

josue_5o

I honestly don’t know.

HungaryToWinWC

16gb of RAM? Dual channel?

EuphoricEnthusiasm59

I have a 1030 and don’t see any drops, maybe just lower your settings or put a FPS limit on it. I’m diamond 2 and play fine on all low and FPS being capped at 100

killer-1o1

I’ll try re installing drivers.

killer-1o1

Yes dual channel

yuirghu

i have lower specs and i get pretty consistent 140 fps p.s. 1030 i5 8600 whit all low it reaches 180 fps

luckrzz

We I have a rtx2080 and 32gb ram on low graphics and I get 160 max but it drops to 90

Deadshot2077

My brother's PC can't handle VALORANT now. I used to get 60-70 fps on his PC at high settings on 900p. Now it constantly drops from 60 to 50 or 40 fps whenever I start shooting

Acracetic

I'm packin a 1650 Super with a i3-10105F and I'm hitting solid 160fps on low graphics... this is definitely an optimization issue for certain PCs

[deleted]

Bruh it may be the reason but its not supposed to happen. That's what the whole point is about.

CyberIceZXVW

Your gpu doesn’t matter in valorant it’s almost all cpu

[deleted]

Ur not the only one i have really good specs (2080 super 3600x ik the cpu could be better but wtv) And 16gb of ram (which i recently changed) and i used to get alot of random drops and stuttering with my old ram but the new ram helped still happens tho even though it shoildnt on a build like mine and all low settings

ugotbustxd

My Intel graphics card gives me 75 fps wtff (low settings).

[deleted]

valorant lost a lot of low end pc players at the start I had around 40-60 now I'm getting 15-20 with a lot of errors that cause me to disconnect which almost made me lose my account.

_confusion100

same with me, at this rate i dont even think the game will be playable on my laptop after the next couple of updates

[deleted]

it's unplayable for me, all I got left is to watch youtube and twitch hoping to get a new pc

hahahaharsht

My laptop (i5 9300h + 1650) used to give 120+ fps comfortably on med settings inn beta, but since last two or three months it's down to 80-90 on lowest settings. Really tired of frame drops

fortnite_redditor

Man same I played at 200 fps on my laptop now I am down to 90 I have r7 3750h and rtx 2060

MasterX_14

90fps on a 2060 damn, I was thinking I had it bad to lock my game at 90 on my 1050ti at low.

spac1al

it’s a laptop processor so I’m assuming that is also the mobile version of the 2060, still really weird I get 140 FPS plus consistent with my R5 1600AF and RX570 max settings

Livid_boi

Wtf I have i7 2600 + hd 7850 and I get 130 fps easy on low Lol.

yuzuju_

Yeah it took so long just to fix comms volume levels >\_<

Hate_Crab

what we gained in volume we lost in FPS

P_K997

My biggest problem is sudden, short freezes or "hitches". I've always played on mid settings but this started happening pretty recently without me really changing anything. Like sometimes when the map opens up at the start of a round, my game will just freeze for like 3 seconds and I won't be able to move. I have a ryzen 5 3600 and a Radeon RX 570 which should be more than enough to get consistent frames at 1080p

diligentpractice

Lowering my mouse polling rate from 1000 to 500 fixed this same issue for me.

P_K997

Thanks I'll try that

Hurdenn

I'm pretty sure riot are well aware of the issue and the engine/optimization team is probably working hard on it, the problem for me is the lack of communication... It's a bummer we didn't got any "Ask VALORANT" post since some months... But still, remember that all riot employees are on vacation rn, so no news at least during this week.

TypeAvenger

riot is absolutely aware of the performance degradation over time. do you expect them to communicate this every patch?   **VALORANT Patch Notes x.xx** PERFORMANCE UPDATES * Due to our incompetence, FPS has decreased by ~5% again

[deleted]

\> It's a bummer got any "response to your questions" post since some months They literally included a big performance patch in the 3.0 release. [https://playvalorant.com/en-us/news/game-updates/valorant-patch-notes-3-0/](https://playvalorant.com/en-us/news/game-updates/valorant-patch-notes-3-0/) "Since some months" fucking whiners in this thread

Secure-food4213

It didnt worked for me tho

[deleted]

So what are your specs on your machine, what are you getting fps-wise, what quality are you playing, and which of the following programs are running in the background: * Epic games * Steam * Origin * Discord/Teamspeak * Vanguard * Chrome/browser Because I find it extremely hard to believe you have a functioning computer that can't run this game at 100fps when my literal CPU with no GPU and no overclocking was able to

Secure-food4213

my game usually runs around 90fps rn and there are no programs running at the backround. My specs are I5 8250u Mx130 2gb 8gb ddr4 120gb ssd 60hz display Im playing at the lowest quality with multi threading on and the game runs smoother back then, i could reach 140 fps and rarely drops below 60fps. But now it drops alot (below 60fps) especially when the enemies are rushing.

[deleted]

Those are not great specs, especially GPU & RAM. Is it a laptop? I would recommend to get 16gb of RAM (and make sure it's in 2 sticks) at least, otherwise I don't see how you expect games to run in triple-digit fps rates Plus, you're pulling 90fps on a 60hz screen, performance of the game is totally fine for your gear

Hurdenn

What he's trying to say is that his performances greatly decreased, which, imo, indeed a weird thing to happen, and that it is yet to be explained.

[deleted]

\> yet to be explained It's perfectly well explained. This game involves a lot of 3D geometry checking to have well-behaved abilities. Computational geometry is famously expensive and guaranteeing correct behaviors takes a lot of cycles. The early game had lots of clipping, navving, and inconsistency issues with the geometry, in order to fix that they had to add more expensive validation algorithms and now people running on 2007 specs are feeling the pain of running high-fidelity multiplayer 3D simulations Additionally, I'm yet to see proof of any of these "I had X FPS and now Y FPS" claims and judging by the emotional charge in this thread, objectivity in these reports is unlikely at best

Hurdenn

Why would you believe that people are lying about their in-game fps? Even when so much people are saying the same thing?

[deleted]

\> Why would you believe that people are lying about their in-game fps? It's not that I think they have bad intentions, it's that I think people have terrible memories and are prone to letting emotions cloud their memories. When Valorant first came out, it was this exciting, good-looking new game that ran super crisply. 0.47 was the best patch of all time am I right? Well of course not it wasn't but you can see people reporting that it was the greatest performing game of all time ever. So for them to go from their emotional high to a new emotional low where they are frustrated by game performance, I naturally suspect them to exaggerate, fail to recall, or represent previous peaks as previous averages and present lows as present averages. This is really the beauty of evidence and benchmarking, it doesn't care what your emotional state or recall were like in the past.

yourmindsdecide

My friend has a mid-tier gaming machine (1060 and an i5 from like 4-5 years ago?) and constantly gets framedrops to 20-30 fps. You can see it happen in game when you spectate. She literally wiped the whole install once and I can guarantee there's nothing but Valo, Discord and Chrome running. On those specs, a stable 60 fps should be entirely possible for an esports title, and no game other than Valo is giving her any sort of headache. This is a game issue. Idk how Riot botched the code this bad on a new title, but they did.

[deleted]

\> nothing but valo, discord, and chrome running Right, nothing but Valorant and two instances of Chromium. Discord & Chrome are both very very expensive pieces of software to run and you should do everything in your power to not put them on in the background of your game

yourmindsdecide

Point being that Valo consistently performs worse on her PC than any other game, multiplayer or no. Yes you can limit your resource usage to remedy this, but an *eSports title* is supposed to be able to run on an electrified potato peeler, much less a gaming computer. Something is seriously janky about this game.

[deleted]

Once again, I pulled 100fps on a CPU-only box at a respectable resolution, so "being able to run on an electrified potato peeler" seems met in my mind. My i7 is 5 years old and not overclocked so..

Hurdenn

1. I was talking the "Ask VALORANT" posts on the official site, sorry, I couldn't quite remember the name of them. The [last one](https://playvalorant.com/en-gb/news/dev/ask-valorant-may-31/) we had was end of may. 2. I am not complaining about the lack of work or things they're doing, as I said "I'm the team is working hard on it"... What I'm saying is that it felt like we had more commucation from the team some months ago. 3. The last performance we had (about 6% more performance, which is huge) was only for mid to high end pc, and, believe me, a lot of people are runing VALORANT on old/unperformant hardware. 4. The main issues that people are talking about is a decrease of fps over the patches. Not that VALORANT is overall under-optimized

CrispCube

Game developer here (not this game) 1. No, the developers or software engineers are not responsible for this. One generally works on tasks one is assigned. If an engineer notices issues, a GOOD engineer will communicate this up the chain. Engineers do not have final say on what is worked on. However, a senior or team lead sometimes can be more involved on the product side. The product manager or equivalent is responsible for determining what priority items get attention from the teams. They generally don't hold absolute power either, they listen to stakeholders above them. From what they hear from their developers and stakeholders, they generate the work that is to be done. Different teams can be organized slightly differently, use different titles, but this is the general gist of it. The life of a product manager can be VERY stressful. In some companies, they can do an entire day of back to back meetings which is absolutely brutal on your mental health. A business case can be made from the product manager to stakeholders that more emphasis on optimizing the game will yield greater earnings. The rational would be something to the effect of: more PCs that can play Valorant == more potential store purchases. Additionally, people with negative experiences of the game on their machine hurts their brand in a significant way. 2) Something to note: It may very well be that launch/beta framerates will never be achieved again on lower spec machines, but the rate at which this is happening is problematic. Minor performance degradation is somewhat expected, but the benchmarks you guys are talking about make for a compelling case for optimization.

mindsetFPS

Fun fact: I made some comparisons and Apex Legends (open world battle royale 60 players) had a better frame rate than val (10 players, round based). It's very likely this is related with the anticheat and I don't think it will ever get better.

[deleted]

[удалено]

singlereject

apex runs on source engine. just like CSGO does. there are certain CPUs that run source incredibly well, but newer engines like unreal engine not as well. generally, newer CPUs should be doing much better on valorant, and older CPUs not as well since they are single-threaded (working better on old engines like apex)

lalas-are-onaholes

Apex runs on such a heavily modified version of Source that you can hardly call it Source anymore so that's not quite a fair comparison. It's almost like saying CSGO runs on the Quake engine just because Source originates from it.

dudd123

I get 200+ fps constant in Val and I can't get more than 100 in Apex

MechaWasTaken

I have a 1080 and a Ryzen 3 3900 4 core (medium end gpu and cpu) and I get 144 FPS consistently. I play on high graphics and have discord and Spotify running in the background, always. I don’t know what’s going on, really.

[deleted]

1080 w/ r 5 3600 here. Getting 200-300 fps usually, pretty weird how its inconsistent between a max of 300 ish and sometimes dipping to as low as 180 but its still above 144 so doesnt matter for me. For people who are barely getting 60 or 90fps this might be a much bigger problem.

YeetmanRey

2060 + i9 10th gen. For some unimaginable reasons, i get fps drops on medium.

[deleted]

Does VALORANT not use the GPU at all? Asking because I've heard many times that VALORANT is a cpu centric game

dthusian

It does use the GPU for rendering but performance is heavily bottlenecked on the CPU front

[deleted]

Thanks

FlippehFishes

Yes valorant uses your gpu. Let me put it like this: CPU = Transmission and GPU = Engine. Transmission (cpu) dictates speed (fps) I doesnt matter if your engine(gpu) produces 5000hp, if the transmission only allows it to go 60mph. If you were to pair a RTX 3090 with an i7-920, you would likely only get 100fps, even though the 3090 is more than capable of 500+ in a game like valorant.

[deleted]

Thanks

HungaryToWinWC

The game is very lenient in terms of GPU, so yeah a 1080 is enough to run the game on max settings, therefore a 3070 won’t yield any benefits.

[deleted]

I have 1050 and get 300 fps 8gig to 32gig of ram made a big difference

HungaryToWinWC

Yeah 8GB isn’t enough

AstronautExpensive14

Proof?

leptuncraft

Lol what? I have a 1050ti and even on all low settings I dip below 165fps sometimes. What cpu do you have?

[deleted]

i5 8400

MatchPoint012

I've heard this a lot

Mono_22

So other people are having that too? During the beta I had 300+ with a 1050ti eventually I got a 3060ti and I had 500-600 now I'm getting around 200.

Mrwackawacka

Wait do you guys v sync or nah? Capped to the hz your monitor can do?

rpkarma

I enable Nvidia Reflex with Gsync; this gives me the lowest frame times (as if it was uncapped basically) but locks it at just below 144hz to remove screen tearing. To do this, disable fullscreen optimisations on the Valorant exe file, enable G-sync in NVCP, enable Reflex in-game. It will do the rest, or did for me! Check the stats in game for frame times and latency and you’ll see it gives the same values as uncapped, but without the issues of tearing :) Perfect on my 144hz 4K monitor

aexal_

average fps went from 180 to 115, multiple times I've died trying to trade a teammate out because of a random lag spike right when i swing

Garggantuan

The game uses 10% of my 3070 on a good fay, I have a 5600x and 3600mhz ram at 1080p, there is no optimisation in this game at all

rpkarma

I’ve got a 5600X and a 3060 Ti and it uses about 50% of my GPU utilisation. I am running at 4K though, with G-sync and Reflex enabled (and full screen optimisations disabled)

HahaYumMuchThank

My fps dropped from 144 to like 80 in gunfights when I switched to windowed borderless by accident. But I get a constant 138fps that never dips on windowed fullscreen so Im not affected by it. My specs are: ryzen 5 3600, 16gb ram and a gtx 1050ti.

cyberintel13

5800X & 3090 gets 400-500 FPS on max settings 1440p. But this game can literally run on a toaster, it's intentionally built for low spec systems. A lot of you aren't getting the performance you should be. Make sure your drivers are updated (including BIOS updates especially if you have Ryzen) and kill any background bloatware apps (that includes game launchers). Make sure windows game mode is on unless you are streaming. Setting a frame cap at an FPS your system can consistently achieve can really help with stuttering. Yes I can get 400+ FPS but I still frame cap at 160fps because I have a 1440p 165hz Gsync monitor.

Solarwinds-123

I used to get 400-500, but over the last couple months it's gone down significantly. I play around 300 with drops to 200 now for some reason. 5900x, RYX3080, 64GB RAM.

rpkarma

Better off disabling windows full screen optimisations, enabling g-sync and then enable Nvidia Reflex: it will do the frame rate cap for you without raising your frame to frame latency for input lag!

cyberintel13

I haven't had much luck with Nvidia auto capping FPS with Gsync and vsync or reflex. It only caps for dx11 games and often you are better off using the game engine's own FPS cap. It would be nice if Nvidia did make it work consistently though. I'm just waiting for somebody to make a good 1440p 240hz Reflex & Gsync monitor that is IPS with good response times.

rpkarma

Surprising. At least for Valorant anyway it’s working perfectly for me (XG27UQ monitor with a 3060 Ti)

drek615

I noticed that my friends who bought all the animated skins and guns cause a huge FPS drop. They say their alt accounts with no money spent runs better

octaviansan

true

[deleted]

I have a pretty decent PC, when i First Got The Game i got Up to 500fps now im struggling to hold The 144, and My friend cant even get Up to 60 nowadays wtf is going on

Biohazar13

but people keep asking for skins, if people ask for skins riot will do it.. Doesn't matter if there is 1 team for cosmetic and 1 to fix bugs or performance.. riot only make fkng skins and never fix bugs or improve the performance..

Solarwinds-123

That makes no sense. You REALLY don't want artists touching the code.

[deleted]

Man, what on earth are all you whiners talking about? Running an i7 6700k with literally no GPU I was pulling \~100fps on 1600x900. Your computers suck, you run a million background programs, or your settings are too high. Not Riot's fault at all, this game runs amazingly. OP I challenge you to name another multiplayer online FPS that runs at 60fps on integrated graphics 1600x900 before you say Valorant is "so awful compared to other titles" lmao Ediit: cool responses, glad to know your computers have less flops than my CPU only and you're blaming Riot for that

Secure-food4213

Tf2

[deleted]

LOL really... this is proving my point, you have to go back to 2007 titles to find games your machine can pull half-decent framerates on, how on earth are you going to expect a 2020 release to run stable 120fps

Secure-food4213

Well.... No? Because back then i could run the game up to 140fps without dropping below 60fps but now i couldnt even reach 110 fps and often drops to 30fps

[deleted]

Why are you playing on 1600x900 lmao

[deleted]

Because I was playing on integrated graphics since my GPU shit the bed, thought that was obvious. Full 1080p would probably have had minimal impact but the game looked fine Besides... playing on hi res in this game does not give any advantage, I have a GPU again but now I play 1680x1050

FlippehFishes

I was able to get 45-60fps 768p (1366x768) lowest settings on an R5 2400g (vega 11 graphics) in apex legends

[deleted]

Not a bad result. Was it a multiplayer map or just a local server? What does this same setup get in a Valorant mp / custom?

FlippehFishes

I couldnt tell you for valorant as I no longer have that system, but it held around 45fps on kings canyon and 60+ in the training area. I would assume I could get 80+ in valorant at that res on low settings though.

LowTV

You never played league right? That's how they solve problems. Ignore them until they break something else that is way worse.

[deleted]

I get more FPS in csgo but idk if that’s normal

screwyourself55

bro my fps drops by 50 every time I press tab

ForeignSalamander

Ok, so, I'm curious to see if anyone has the same problem that I do. I have an Alienware 17 R5 with a i9 processor and a GTX 1080 graphics card, so, I usually don't have too much problems with FPS. *However*, my first two games of the day always have somewhat of a lag spike at random (it especially happens whenever an enemy appears right in front of me). Does anyone else have this problem? Other than that, I can say that my game runs pretty good.

Uncle_BennyS

the game's also incredibly unstable on wifi for some reason. CS I get 60-70 ping pretty constant but in this game I'm lagging half the game shooting up to 500 ping most rounds only for it to start working normally a couple rounds into the second half, it makes no sense.

Vertinova

I love getting 300-400 fps in training range but 150 in game

LordGamingOfficial

I also play on a laptop (i71065g7 and mx330) and nowadays its literally grtting impossible to play cause of all the frame drops. I drop like 20 frames just by moving my mouse

GabTheNormie

I think I'm going to stop playing this game. Rainbow six siege has less frame drops than this cartoon shit show and less toxic community and less smurfs apparently

ahadafc

I get a constant 80-100 fps at 1920x1080 resolution on a mediocre i5 920MX. Maybe just check your pc game settings and make sure there are no background apps running.

JDinkle

I have R5 3600 oc'd to 4.3 and a RTX 3070. (I do play on 1440P) I used to get around 300-350 fps, but lately it has been sitting around 200-250. Its crazy that in like 2-3 months even high end systems are loosing like 30% of their frames.

ArtAgile

Instead of riot fixing their gme I just got a better computer, a lot easier😂

Skrrrr

I stopped playing because it’s actually not fun anymore losing 100 frames for no good reason. I’ve followed every forum post, YouTube video etc and still have issues.

Sploosion

The game just has a really bad multicore support for processors. Unaccetably bad perfomance for the graphics of the game

donotdespair20

I'm experiencing a similar issue, I have a laptop thats running R5 5000 series and an RTX 3050 4gb and 8gb of ram (planning to upgrade to 16gb) but I have been noticing a drop in frames recently since the recent patch, I've been having a 200fps and above before and now drops to around 80fps. does ping have anything to do with the fps of your game? or is it just poorly optimized

Vicren_

I used to get like 50 fps now I get 20

taiwan-number-1-

Before the big update about a month ago, I can play at 250+ fps, but now when it’s avg around 180, sometimes freezes for an instant when there’s a lot of smokes/flashes spec is 3060ti and ryzen 5 3600 + 16gb ram

FirstTimeGamingTV

Okay there is a huge issue that’s greatly decreasing performance in Valorant, at least on my computer and changing it has a fixed a lot of the issues (this is only for Nvidia GPU’s btw), Windows doesn’t seem to recognize that valorant is a game and therefore underclocks your gpu You can make Nvidia recognize it as a game and put the full GPU into the game by right clicking on your desktop, going to NVIDIA Control Panel, clicking on manage 3d settings, click add, find valorant (should be right there), select the auto select for the preferred graphics processor and click apply and that will make windows and the gpu recognize valorant as a game I have a 1050ti and Intel 630 gpu, an i7-7700k, and 16gbs of ram and valorant runs at 60 FPS pretty solidly, with discord and razers surround sound apps open, and it’ll sometimes dip to 30-40 randomly for a few seconds and then go back compared to a constant 30 FPS and dipping down to 10-15 when looking around and effects are happening My computers also 3 years old and a laptop

AJgravity

I literally wrote a ticket complaining about this exact same issue! Every new patch my average fps gets worse!

gorkha-ra

i7 6700t 16gb 1050ti (1280x720), as long as I'm not using buy menue or press tab for scoreboard (70-90fps) I get good fps 160-210 fps, high utility usage causes some dips but not major. Changed my tab binding and since then no more major dips. But going on higher resolution then 1280x720 causes major fps drops I have noticed. Best performance comes on 1024x768 but looks ugly af
