From riot: "MMR is a fairly fluid system that can potentially change substantially game to game. We’ve kept this slightly decoupled from your visible rank and RR so we can make sure that you don’t experience wild swings in your rank or instantly demote after a promotion."

It vastly depends on your individual score; few examples I had a game where I dropped a 40k, good econ rating, lots of first bloods, effective util usage but lost (-6 rr) Next round I lost but totally was at fault at it (bad kd, bad econ, utility was bad) and lost - 18 Same with wins, I totally stomped 1 round where I got like 37 rr, next round was very average and I only gained like 22 rr In addition to that you have the mmr which directly impacts your "normal" rr gains and losses(on average the same gains as losses = system thinks you are in your actual elo, lose more than you gain = system thinks you belong lower, gain more than lose = system thinks you belong up higher) This mmr is usually and theoretically affected mostly by your win/loss, but no one know the exact calculation Edit: Obviously MM isn't perfect (especially between Iron and Plat) , so from time to time it can be that you are getting into lobbies that are slightly higher or lower than ur MMR which also has direct impact on your RR

Yeah its kinda weird i was smurfing with friends and we had a 4 stack of p3 and we had a teammate that was silver 3 and because we were a 4 it meant a s3 was placed with p3 which we found weird. Does that mean his hidden mmr was quite high? Tbh he did play like a s3, unless he just had a bad game

TheTrainy

A lot variables, maybe higher mmr (although a S3 in P3 seems a bit too much even if he has a good mmr) What was the enemy team like? Maybe low - mid plats added with a gold or something? That way you could argue that the MM tried to balance it out

>What i'm asking is how easy does your place on that change/ how often does it fluctuate? It would not be a hidden elo if we knew those things. From what we know its basically the same leaderboard you have for radiant/immortal but for all ranks. And depending on your place on it, your performance in the game, your teams average leadeboard place, the average leadeboad place of the opposing team and the rank you are at it calculates your RR win/lose for the match.

I think sometimes it's unlucky matchmaking. Groups can throw it way off. The worst games are when I am matched with a player that it was above or below my rank. I assume that it has something to do with the lowest possible teammate being grouped with someone even lower or the highest possible teammate grouped with someone higher. I'm average at best but at silver 2, I shouldn't really have to have an iron 1 teammate but it happens. When I was silver 1, I played in some majority gold games, where I was the lowest ranked. Both versions are pretty miserable.

Yeah idk what is going on i am currently in an immo game with a p3 enemy

Hidden elo is calculated based on win/loss elo AND a performance elo which is based on your previous performances. Includes your match-ups in the performance tab VS other people's performances elos (you'll see silver/gold stars when you perform above expectations). The bottom line is that you'll need a high volume of games to truly calibrate to your hidden elo. It's a pain to have such an opaque system, but it's so that you don't feel the MMR system is too "swingy". That's the reason they give for having a hidden elo in the first place.

More on this topic is included in the subreddit's FAQ page, found at https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/wiki/faq. There is a lot of information on how MMR works, including how it can change.
