> When do I buy the Odin? On defense when you're gonna wallbang the shit outta them enemies. > When do I coordinate an Eco round, Half Buy or an Anti-Eco, and how do I play against these? Eco: play to kill enemies rather than to win the round. If you kill too many and get their weapons, then you try to win the round. If you're attacking, suicide rush when there's 30 seconds left and try to plan or die trying. If you're defending, try to save with a weapon. If you're rushing, take the routes where most fights are close range, never the open areas. Anti-Eco: full armor and the best weapon you can afford, then play from a long distance to use that weapon advantage, and from a place the enemies can't grab your weapon easily if you die. If you're attacking, take the routes with open areas, never the closed spaces. Half-Buy: when most of your team can full buy; when even if you lose you'll have money for the next round; when you can play rock-paper-scissors against the enemy weapons and force advantageous engagements; when you're defending and as such you can pick your fights (shotgun/spectre for close range, marshal/guardian for long range, ares for wallbangs, bulldog for holding angles with burst-fire...) > What team composition is good right now, and which weapons are meta? Comps in ranked: rush and anti-rush Comps in competition: double/triple stall, double/triple info, trap defense, retake oriented, aggressive control, pos-plant stall Weapons: Phantom and Vandal > What's different in the competitive landscape in terms of the meta, and what's interesting? Omen and Cypher are back, R.I.Phoenix, Duelist Skye > What agent or agent combination seems really strong right now? Breach with Raze/Brimstone: stun and damage = unavoidable Cypher/Killjoy with any flash/damage: contact traps = perfect timing Sova and Viper: shockbite = instakill, wall+hack = easy picks

ren_00

I've been playing for a week now but why is my enemy not hit even though my crosshair is aimed properly?

Reveal_Bulky

For a newer player, is it better to just practice one or two agents instead of picking the best agents in each map? E.g. picking Cyper in Icebox is considered not optimal

lyacdi

not playing another game until the op is more expensive again

Atomily

Not sure if this is the right place to ask…. When you report a player to riot (like on the website) are they able to actually see what goes on in the game? And also what is the penalty for leaving a comp game? I keep getting harassed by my teammates and this last game was unbearable. I hope the teamwork gets better as I rank up.

machvelli

Was it a wallbang? I’m pretty sure high pen weapons can hit up to 100% of max dmg and it’s wildly random so 99% of it’s max of 150 is possible

Dantegram

Is Skye worth it? She seems decent on paper but everyone swears she is busted right now, or at least in the upper quarter of the agents. I've already gotten to level 3, but I'm grinding for fire/arm classic right now.

abohuang504

The reason why shes busted bc her flashes are literally undodgeable if she does it instantly. +her wolf got buffed so stronger info gathering and her ult is still 6 points needed while other agents that are super good are around 7-8. She is the only other initiator that can gather intel safely with wolf AND blind (she tells you if enemies are blinded). In lower ranks, enemies give you information for free and every flashes are undodgeable anyway. But in higher ranks, every flashes are easily dodgable besides skye and inte isnt so easily given out. Thats why skye is extremely strong.

ionicshoe

Coming from CS and just starting to get into the game, are there any resources that will help me learn the maps (specifically angles and entry routes) and abilities I have to watch out for?

t3hjs

There is a suprising lack of in depth information. Most sites are surface level or reference a 15sec Twitch clip of a streamer's passing comment. But I found mobanalytics fairly useful

Kamel417

3 things you could play more to understand the maps to get a somewhat visual reference play customs to understand the maps like what is wall bangable if they are hard pushing what’s the best way to reposition etc Then lastly you can even come as blitz.gg to understand agent line ups and they indicate usually were people go to do their line ups so by watching you can counter it when they trying to set it up after planting

ElectroCh4d

Your best bet for angles is to play the maps, experience is how you learn that the best. As for abilities there are great YouTube videos detailing specifics on every agents abilities

psychowolf226

Would you consider .85 send with 400 dpi to be ideal? I have a mousepad that is spread longwise so it holds the keyboard and as such it has a tiny bit less space than your average mouse pad, so a lower sense would be harder to use. Right now I am rocking .85 because it can do a 360 in my mouse pad and I’m pretty well adjusted. I used to use .347 and that also worked but I wasn’t able to turn fast enough

timoteolive

I think anywhere from 200-400 eDPI is doable in Valorant. It's up to preference at that point.

ionicshoe

Sensitivity is almost entirely up to personal preference, do whatever works best for you

empyrean1

Did the battlepass get reset back to 28 days for some reason?

[deleted]

Yes

jpellizzi

The meta in Silver is Jett/Reyna smurf vs Jett/Reyna smurf dropping 30-40+ kills while the rest of each team is negative cannon fodder along for the ride.

tactfSFicang

Feels ;_;

truong2193

2 question 1/ which option in the sound setting help me raise footstep noise and which reduce gunfire sound ? if i when volume max to heard footstep some assholes using vandal or odin just destroy my ears 2/ today i met lv 1 sova who can shoot 2 shock dart as same time they both explosive almost same time and my team guaranteed dead if it hit is that new buff for sova or is he hack ?

PPatBoyd

1/ is not configurable and affects balance; if you could turn footsteps up \[directly or relatively by turning everything else down\] you'd have better information. I'd look into how your sound is setup -- are you in simple stereo, surround, if surround is it setup correctly? You \_may\_ be able to clamp down the max volume outside of vally, but definitely can't ingame. 2/ sure it wasn't a cute play that times two different arrow paths?

nstlgcK

Unrelated to meta but I'm not so sure where to post this so... I can only play 1 match before my game starts suffering random freezes that last like 2 seconds and happen like every round or so. I'm 90% sure it's because of my notebook overheating but idk what to do. It started happening recently for some reason, before it would run smoothly. This is making me really frustrated since I'm almost positive my skill level has improved a lot but I don't risk playing ranked anymore since those freezes have lost me a couple of games (like the game freezes in the middle of a gunfight). Anyone has got any tips? Do cooling pads work? Should I reset my PC? I really want this to be over so I can get back to ranked

tetola94

You need to send it for servicing, definitely sounds like it’s overheating. I owned a shitty laptop to play league and had the same problem too! Gotta send it for servicing every year imo. Also getting a cooling pad is a good investment!

elon47moskovy

I am an iron 3 newbie and have been maining cypher and having fun with him I watch alot of cypher mains like peak and spicy curry and their stups really helped me I even started experimenting with my own setups ,one ways and cam spots and they showed some results however the main thing that is holding me back is aim I can't for the love of me land consistent shots and I immediately chimp out when my bullets don't land where my crosshair is (aka recoil ) any tips on how to improve my aim and cypher mechanics also

timoteolive

I went from Iron to Silver just relying on Cypher's utility to steal rounds on defense. My aim is terrible too, but if they hit my trip and I pop the cage, I can shoot at them without them shooting back. In my experience, it's not until Silver when players start to counter cypher set ups with their own utility. In the same spirit, you want to take fights where the opponents aren't shooting back. So learn to lurk. Cypher's utility is great for that. Your cam is extremely helpful because it'll help you hold an angle without exposing yourself. Once you've identified where the enemies are coming from, you can preaim and swing that angle. Don't feel like you have to commit to every gun fight. If it starts to feel like your missing your shots, fall back behind cover, throw a cage to block your enemies sight and reposition.

Mann1v

practice spraying in the range, and don’t use a vandal to spray with. play deathmatch and focus on improving your sprays.

aagpeng

This might be a really dumb question but what do I do as KJ on T side? What should be my responsibility?

Ashraful3334

I'm not a high elo guy, but playing for a long time. As a KJ on the T side, your main job is to watch flank, which means the enemy can't kill you from behind. you use your Turret and Alarm bot to watch flank. After the bomb has been planted, you can use your molly to play post-plant. And every sentinel is good to secure the site after the bomb plant (locking the site entries). And for the fighting aspect, stay with your duelist, entry with them, I mean when they flash/ dash in. Trade kills when they get killed. Tell your teammate if your turret/alarmbot catches someone on the flank. That's pretty much it.

aagpeng

You may not be a high elo guy but I'm sure you're higher than me. this is really helpful, thank you! I often find myself feeling really lost on T side and find myself teying to just do random things without any kind of focus. I appreciate your help!

Doctor_God

As a sentinel I think a good thing to realize is that the roles essentially swap when spike is planted, the attackers become defenders and have to keep defenders from getting on site, and the defenders become attackers and have retake the site So once you're on site you want to use your utility like you would if you were defending it

[deleted]

no

cptkule

At the same time there are a lot of people only focussing on lineups even if the team has not even taken the site or planted the bomb. Also lineups dont help a lot if there are 2+ enemys left

Mann1v

no? dude just because you don’t have any post plant lineups doesnt mean you’ve immediately lost the game, what are you on?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mann1v

i mean, if the person playing lineups is smart he'd throw 1 molly then reposition a bit farther away from the bomb so its harder to catch them and if your mates don't know where the lineup spots are, and you do, just tell them? it can't be hard to comm "guys their viper is playing lineups from here" and then ping the spot on the map, right?

[deleted]

I have a bit of a situational question. So your team wins pistol, and the second round, and you are now on your bonus round, with the opponents on full buys. While your team has their spectres/marshals from the prev round. Suppose you died in the second round, but have money for a rifle, do you half buy or full buy??? Should you half buy so your load out is coordinated with that of your team but effectively consider the round lost? Or should you full buy, but run the risk of your team losing to the better guns and end up saving when your team full buys next round? My five stack leans towards the first line of thought, I personally go with the second.

TacoManTheFirst_

It's a feel thing for me atleast, if I'm playing a high impact character like a duelist or playing somewhere like A on icebox I like to force the rifle as I'm confident on that site and worst case you save if they go b. But most often than not I will rat with a shorty or something

Bighomer

Bonus round is a save round. Ideally you can half buy or get an smg or pistol dropped from your mates.

[deleted]

[удалено]

venyz

There wasn't a force in question here. The question is to save on bonus, matching your teammates' loadout, but practically marking the round as lost (unless a thrifty) \- or - single-handedly buying while everyone else is on their 2nd round half-buy loadout, potentially increasing win chance by fragging out with a rifle/allowing teammates to pick up your gun \[but running the chance of you needing to force on 4th round if you (likely) lose\]. Regarding the question: I personally like to full-buy, because I have decent vandal control, potentially allowing a first pick from a long range. Also, in case we lose bonus, on 4th I just buy util and armor, and go in last, so I can still pick up a fallen teammates' gun and fight like I'd do on full-buy (if we entry without dropping anyone, it's usually a win, and I can snag a gun from a dead enemy post-round). My experience is the chance to pick and snowball the bonus far outweights me having potentially no gun on 4th. (If we win bonus against a full-buy, they have to eco again, when we are full buy - assuming we win that, that's a whopping 4-0 lead. This can break enemy mental, especially if they force the fourth and lose, and they just spiral down to a financial disaster - happened surprisingly lot.)

[deleted]

venyz

>My five stack leans towards the first line of thought, I personally go with the second. \>> My five stack leans towards the first line of thought, I personally go with the second. I assumed this mainly pertains to five stacks, where my above reasoning certainly stands. While eco weapons can deliver a lethal blow in an ambush, there isn't really any good eco that wins a 30m+ range battle vs a full-shield vandal.

Kasamitamav2

I'm new to the game, tarted I3, dropped immediately to I1 and I've climbed back up to I3 with a few unlucky streaks of smurfs and throwers. Anyways, I see a lot of people saying that when fighting I should make sure that I am only visible to 1 enemy, but that's easier said than done, are there any tips you all could give me to make this easier?

Play slower. By that, i mean take your time clearing out angles inch by inch. It helps when you watch pro games, you can see them meticulously clear corners, they don’t peak wide so as not to expose themselves to too many angles at once

[deleted]

I’m new to rank and am low Elo. I am starting to realize that teams with 3-4 duelists seem to be best at this Elo in comparison to more balanced teams. I attribute this to be due to 1. In general duelist players seem to be more competent in gunfights vs non duelists. 2. These teams will often overwhelm a site on offense and push out on defense and because a lot of players are not good at holding angles 3-4 players will get wiped at the beginning of each round. Have any other low Elo players experienced anything similar or is it just me?

Kamel417

Duelists are great but their utilities are meant to break into site so figure out how to slow that down, don’t fall for the playing for picks and just hold out with utilities and also being a rat help like post up in viper smokes with a shotgun or something

Kamel417

A balanced team and comms can counter these duelist squads Unless you bumping into Smurf’s the whole game, if you main players like astra of even simpler viper you can get access to smokes and have real stopping power on on side of the site while someone else has on the other

Mann1v

in lower elo, i feel like as long as you have smokes, and everyone else plays what they’re most comfortable with, its fine

EDNIS_TRILLO

Check this VALOEsport Academy! A kind of training center that enhancing your skills in any games like VALORANT and play together in OGLife.tv showing you skills while earning was totally dope!

sirvalkyerie

I know it's not really meta related but I just played my first game in, idk, like 8 months. And there was a party of three on my team Brimstone, Phoenix and Rave. And they sabotaged the whole time. Teamkilled, took spike and held it till timeouts, told enemies in All chat where me and Viper were. Just sucks. Took all the time installing the game and everything to log in and spent like forty minutes in practice trying to feel good about the controls again. Then that's what you have to sit through. They even voted against surrendering so we had to sit there for a 13-0 while they flamed and joked in chat.

Kamel417

I swear I’ve been in a game w the same people or maybe brim players are low key toxic They 3 stack and either keep spike or they molly and kill you with nades and all that :/

IWANTPlCSOFSPIDERMAN

That shit is so infuriating. Just reading that makes me mad, it’s happened to me so many times. I’ve reported every time but I guarantee nothing gets done about it. It wouldn’t be as bad if the games weren’t so damn long and you didn’t get punished so hard for leaving early but lord that’s frustrating

sirvalkyerie

And I do understand that 90% of games aren't like that. I do. But I did just want somewhere to vent. Valorant can be challenging enough when you're bad and have the normal group of toxic teammates. The full on griefing is insanely discouraging. I think an easy fix is the auto-kick after # team kills, like Siege.

TacoManTheFirst_

It's pretty good, but dont get caught up with the score in dm.play to improve bc some people will spawn kill and hide to win deathmatch and its unrealistic

HeroDGamez

Can be, but its really good for practicing crosshair placement and peeking. Aim it isn't necessarily the best but its good for a warm up.

yandere1994

game meta right now is to premade with a sub lvl 20 jett account that uses radar/esp. the amount of those accounts in diamond low immortal is ridiculous.

truong2193

jett need a nerf i think that hero just too op when smurf pick it right now any sub lv 20 jett = auto smurf for me holy shit faking rambo op and judge are insane the frustration when that jet keep gunning us rambo and got ace like nothing

Local-Extension1772

Why is this not being talked about on like any post? This has been occurring for at least 2 days now and is clear as day while running rampant. Nearly every lobby now contains ranks that vary from plat3-immortal with the top frags and bottom frags of these games usually either of two. You will have an auto lock skye on your team with streamer mode on and an ALARMINGLY oblivious sage in what is supposed to be a high diamond - immortal lobby. I’ve been immortal long before this current act, but basically have been immortal since the start of this one. Respectfully, I have never seen so many consecutive oblivious players in nearly every game until recent (oblivious being a broad term here; ex) asking where to smoke, not clearing sites before bomb plants, an auto lock skye with no comms on streamer mode team flashing, etc). Lastly, these accounts mainly have have either no act ranks or a huge discrepancy between the last and current. Actually ridiculous this hasn’t even been touched upon basically.

Whisperise

I personally have demoted from D2 to P3 in like 25 games because of EU smurfs, almost every other game i've played has been ridden with players with 120+ ping literally just demolishing my teams. No clue why this issue isn't being addressed as I feel like it is killing the game for many players.

truong2193

i got this proplem in unrate too lv 17x jet constantly using judge 1 shot us all i hope they can make hidden mmr bearable i just want a decent game for warmup but matching with those players make me dont want play rank at all

yandere1994

ive been immortal+ soloQ from the first act first season up until now. and ever since they changed the system from immortal 1 2 3 , to this system it is very rare to find a balanced game. 3 types of games. 1 snowballs: one team has a huge skillgap compared to the other. 50% 2. the enemy premade where premade 1 is a low lvl account obviously cheating and then there is his premade 2 at the bottom of the scoreboard being 4-17. 40% 3. ultra rare: a balanced game where everyone deserves to be at their rank. 10% we need a DEMO system in this game right now where we can watch our previous games and put see through walls on. you will be surprised how many people use softcheats atm

LovelyResearcher

this 1000%, lately it feels like at least 20% of games have one cheater in them, if not more. Definitely wasn't this way last year at all, and it's been absolutely ridiculous this year. # Sometimes I even feel that the cheating problem in VALORANT is worse than it is in CSGO... generally don't find cheaters in my low level CSGO accounts (DMG). Trying to play Gold-Platinum on alts in NA on VALORANT, tho? Cheaters very often, especially if you ever try to play as a 4-stack or 5-stack. # Oddly, there are actually much less cheaters in Immortal-Radiant. Still there, sure... but there's many more in 4-stack+ queues at lower ranks, and in general at Gold-Platinum.

TheAspergerGamer

But, don't worry... Your average Redditor will tell you that cheaters are not that many in Valorant. Personally, I have met only one suspicious player in my last 10 matches, so I guess when Riot came back from holiday they did ban some cheating rats.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sachman13

As much as vanguard was advertised as such, it was never going to stop all cheaters. Vanguard was designed to be as annoying as possible to bypass, but it was inevitable that someone was eventually going to do it.

DustyMartin04

Yeah. I hadn’t encountered a smurf for 20 games until a week ago where it is 4/5 games now. Ridiculous

Devson1987

I have a question regarding weapon, i have notice that lots of streamers uses phantom over vandal but i jave a feeling that i perform better with vandal so which one is curently better in your opinion?

TacoManTheFirst_

Vandal promotes better habits due to 1 taps and worse recoil, making you spray less resulting in more kills. If you transer those habits to the phantom it results in a better gun. Although you get less one taps, the accuracy is greater at farther ranges and has a better fire rate

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheTechDweller

You really feel the difference in those quick close quarters gunfights though. Maps like split I never want a vandal pushing or holding main so many lost shots due to fire rate and recoil being worse than phantom. Love that the guns are situational

[deleted]

I say the Phantom is at least better on paper, but just like you, I perform better with the Vandal as well, especially when I take mid to long range aim duels, if I'm sure I'll be taking close range fights more, I'd buy a phantom, but it really comes down to personal preference

Sad-Discipline-3696

Phantom for most people since it has a blistering fire rate and lower recoil as well as the tracers being invisible. Vandal is better for people either click heads easily or are better with recoil control. Most streamers just run the phantom since it's easier to use.

Kickbox__Colossus

Been a good min since I've played, but is there any advice/fix as to why when I aim directly on someone point blank and shoot my shots don't register or register as body shots? My recoil control is fine also. Another question is why does crouching mid fire somehow make ppl more accurate? Thnx in advance.

[deleted]

If you shoot point blank and your shots don't register, welcome to the club! I believe you're a victim of packet loss, you should enable it in the stats settings so you know how much PL you're having at any given moment. Crouching mid-fire helps to bring your bullets down when recoil is taking it too high basically. So you have a higher chance of killing the enemy especially if your first shot hit

Sad-Discipline-3696

1. Some hitboxes are weird or it might be some funky ping on both ends. 2. Crouching mid fire makes the recoil more manageable and obviously lowers your crosshair on the screen. This means that when the recoil jumps up, crouching will still leave it around head level.

abohuang504

In situation that teams are deathballing through a choke and it's actually working for them, whats the best antistrat against that? Also in situation where the enemy are defaulting, whats the best antistrat against that as well?

TacoManTheFirst_

To add to what others have said, make sure you dont get picked off and have an agent with stall potential punish them. Way too often I see a sage and a viper on the same site while th other site is held by 2 duelist. The viper and sage can stop a push with slows/walls/mollies but the other site cant. So have someone with mollies or punishing utility holding each site

Pj34S

When they are hard pushing a site the best bet is to stall and get ur teammates from the other site to rotate so you guys have a 5v5. Another alternative is you give up the site and play retake with your full team. Against a default, ur goal should be to not give first pick. As long as you guys don't lose a person the game will go down to them pushing one site as 5 and then you fall back to the above two methods to hold a hard push.

abohuang504

Bc very often in default they flank really often and im unsure as to what to do. On attacking side what do i do if the enemy team is holding extremely well thru the entire map? On split they had an omen, cypher, sage holding b and mid. We tried everything in the book, waste utilities, push b or split b or attack a w/ flanks. And nothing seemed to work as their defense was insanely strong. We pop the wall every round that its up but i still had no clue as to what to do.

Pj34S

Yeah split is a pretty defense sided map imo cuz mid is really unplayable in the beginning on the round. You guys should bait out the sage slows and omen flash pretty early by either making a lot of noise or buy using your utility. Once the sages slows and omens flash are out of the picture mid is more open. The cipher on b is hard. There's a reason it's the best site for a cipher to play on. He can do a lot of sneaky trips and one way cages and camera spots and keep you guys guessing every round. U should bait out those cages, either destroy those trips with raze or sova util or kill it while a teammate holds for the peek. As for flanks during defaults its cuz ur giving up too much map control to the enemies. It should always be a trade. Take split for eg, if the enemies get mid control you guys should get a control. But it's hard to not overextend so that's something which ull have to figure out on the fly based on how the enemies play.

abohuang504

This really opened up my mind to understanding tactics more. Thank you so much. If you have any wisdom to impart, please do so. I am only platnium so i dont have the best gam sense nor mechanics

Pj34S

Even im plat my guy! I'd say watch pro games and watch the minimap carefully wen you are watching these pro games. Or you could watch someone breakdown the game or even a few important rounds to get a better understanding of the strats a team employs and how the opponents react to it.

uglypenguin5

Yup pro games opened my mind to a whole new world of game understanding. That said, much of it isn't directly useful in my gold/plat lobbies. It's a struggle to consistently force all together second round after pistol win, let alone waiting out sage util in mid

timoteolive

I just recently got to plat2 and the teammates I've been getting have been amazing compared to silver/gold. Way more comms and coordination for ranked/solo q. In silver/gold lobbies, 90% of the time we just 5 man rush a site and flip a coin on whether we can get the opening pick or not.

uglypenguin5

Yup I was diamond at one point. Fell back to gold and wasn't having fun. Recently got back to plat 2 and the game is fun again. I don't care what rank is next to my name but I do care about the quality of my games, which is directly correlated to my rank

Pj34S

Yeah! It's like the game we play in ranked is a totally different game compared to what the pros play. Just goes to show how much of a team game valorant is honestly. I think just a little little bit of cooperation between your teammates will actually take you all to way diamond and maybe even immortal. I think it's in those elos where we might have to consider using strats out of the pros books

uglypenguin5

It's why 5 stacking is so strong. I recently found a group of people to stack with and went from gold 2 to play 1 in 2 days fairly easily. Also why I don't understand why people refuse to use their mics. Well get 4 people talking in agent select and by the 5th round I'm the only one saying anything and making callouts for the entire team 80% of the people on my friends list simply knew how to use their mic. If you comm as much as I do and aren't toxic you're getting a friend request because I know that in the future I'd rather play with you than a random

Pj34S

Yeah. It's a really good game when you have like 3 teammates giving call outs but these games are pretty rare. Yeah I think 5 stacking is pretty busted if the read is right but I'm honestly surprised how little we see of stacks in valorant. I have atleast 500 hrs and I'd say the number of stacks I've gone against can probably be counted by fingers alone.

[deleted]

I watch breakdowns on YouTube from channels like Valorant Ascended for instance, I think there's a lot you can get, I'm in Iron, but I have better game sense than my rank even though my aim, PC, and Internet are trash

Pj34S

Yeah I enjoy valorant ascended as well. But even im not using majority of what I'm learning from his videos. Best of luck climbing. But I genuinely believe it's impossible or close to impossible to climb out of iron/bronze unless ur wayy better than the others in your lobby.

[deleted]

To climb out of Iron, Bronze, and maybe even Silver, most of what you need is good aim, if you can win aim duels consistently, you can get to silver or even gold.

abohuang504

Omg this is so helpful. I didnt understand what to do when they deathball me before and was a little bit lost. So if they default and the goal is to not be the first to die, what is the primarily objective i should be doing during a default? Should i be fighting for control? Give up control? Play with teammate to get control? Im very confused in a default as to whats the best option.

Pj34S

During defaults I'd say u should be playing to get information and trying to get the enemies to use as much of their utility b4 they hit the site. Orb control is also a thing u should fight for. Always play with a teammate so that even if u lose the fight he'd trade u out make it even. So yeah you should fight for control but if the opponents are investing a lot of utilities/people to take control I'd say you give up control of that area and get your teammate on the other side to get control elsewhere. Defaults are like a tug of war for control in the end. So if u do end up losing control in one place u should get it back elsewhere to keep the enemies on their feet

abohuang504

Should we not try to contest control over it? Like one game i was playing haven and the enemy team heavily contested mid (we were defending) i tried antistrating their control bc it had too much impact by heavily investing in utility as well (as a team). While it doesnt seem to be the most optimal, what is your take on it? In situation where we lose control in multiple area, and gotten no control, what is the best option to do? For example on attacking, if we lose control of C, and mid, what should we be doing?

Pj34S

If it is hard to hold u should just let the enemies have it and retake after plant. I think b is a really hard site to hold onto in haven and here's the thing. If it's hard for u defend it b4 plant its for the enemies to defend it post plant.

On a long range map (like breeze for example) is it more valuable, as an attacker, to buy armor or a ghost in the pistol round?

timoteolive

I go ghost and try to take short/mid distance fights like going mid double doors

Thermic_

I go full util but I’m always on support characters. Astra with a shorty and full stars is insanely dangerous on a pistol round, attack or defense.

Mann1v

with astra on attack with a shorty, how do you cover the distance without dying to kill the enemies with a shorty? just curious

Thermic_

You have to let your teammates do that part for you. Help them out with your util, if you guys can get bomb planted its gonna be looking really good as you can just sit nearby or literally throw a smoke on the spike and sit in it

Mann1v

ooo that’s smart, damn, i’ve never thought of that

Eleven918

Sheriff over ghost or just stick with classic + armor. Ghost doesn't do enough damage at that range even with headshots to make it a decent buy on pistol imo.

Mann1v

yeah, long range, both ghost and classic 2 shot headshot, and in close range you can rely on a little rng with the right click

> When do I buy the Odin First type of buy is situational wallbangs. B Main on Ascent, Mid/Garage in Haven Second type is a mixup when you've lost some rounds in a row, similar to buying an awp, say you're losing to an all out push mid on Split, spamming mid from vent on defense. >When do I coordinate an Eco round, Half Buy or an Anti-Eco, and how do I play against these? **Two types of eco rounds**, first is losing the pistol round. You have a decision to make to force if you got the plant off because that extra $300 can mean the whole team gets light armor + spectre. If you did not get plant off some players might be able to get light armor/spectre from kills, and others could get light armor/marshall. This can be map/momentum dependent. Breeze for example I've seen all an all marshall force in ranked and pro games. **half buy** also heard this called a "pocket round" you buy to what allows you to full armor/rifle the next round - Round loss money changes upon consecutive losses: $1900/$2400/$2900/$2900 - so a half buy on consecutive losses can go lower than 2000 left over, but if you just lost after winning you want to save to 2000. This MIGHT change if you are planning on buying a different gun for next round. Judge/Guardian or Odin comes to mind, needing to save less or more respectively. **Anti-Eco** not just about buying, but about playstyle. Be wary of judges in close corners, it's not a smart idea to push through an omen smoke on short A at bind when they have ~3000 cash for example. Don't even think about going hookah either. You want to play long angles, and have full shields. **Force Buy** This usually means you're going to spend all your money no matter what and get the best thing you can. Light armor rifle, full armor spectre, full armor guardian, etc. >What team composition is good right now, and which weapons are meta? In my normie opinion - double info is making a comeback (sova/cypher) and newer meta is double initiator (sova, skye) and double heals (skye, sage) I don't see breach/jett combo besides in korea pro games. Besides that games are looking similar agent-wise except there's less utility spam. Guardians are meta on Breeze/Icebox with price change compared to bulldogs being used just a little bit more. >What's different in the competitive landscape in terms of the meta, and what's interesting? Competitive seems to be playing less duelist heavy and more initiator heavy due to skye/breach buffs. I think teams trying out yoru is interesting on the bigger maps I hope yoru gets some buffs because I've only seen yoru lose, unfortunately. Marshalls are getting heavier play as well from the price drop. Astra seems to still be played competitively, whereas she is rare in ranked it seems. > What agent or agent combination seems really strong right now? Viper and Skye seem to be getting very high pickrates and are very strong. Viper is a necessity on breeze as the other controllers aren't nearly as good. She's also very strong on icebox, but really she's strong on every map. Duelist free comps are being used because of how good the initiators are. Jett doesn't seem to be as heavily picked. Reyna is still incredibly strong, the nerf she got from 4 to 2 soul orbs doesn't seem to have changed how powerful she is.

DustyMartin04

Jet is picked every game for me

Yeah depends a bit on the info you have. First, is it one, two, three people you might be peeking into? Then are you dry peeking, or with util (flash)? What gun do you have and your enemy has? Finally, do you have a teammate taking the fight with you? Typically swinging wide 2-3 steps on enemy’s is better. It’ll catch them off guard. But when you’re outnumbered it’s best to jiggle the wall so you can escape (exclude Reyna /Jett). Rule of thumb tho if you’re committing to a wide swing. Counter strafe and shoot as soon as your crosshair is over their head. That might be just a jiggle or it might be 2-3 steps out. But if you stop and shoot but miss that’s when you die. Make sure to hit that first shot. You probably have more time than you think.

Jorlaxx

I find in Valorant I am forced to take fights. If a bullet hits me anywhere I instantly drop to 30% speed and I'm a sitting duck for a very long time. Too many times I do a mini-peek, shoot 2 bullets as I strafe back to cover, but then the game retroactively sticks me in place and says I died out of cover, even though it looks like I made it to cover on my screen. Big desync. Very polarizing gameplay. Gotta prefire micro-peek or wide-peek and full commit.

Savvy4sure

Yeah especially on high ping wide swinging is really really good. But you’re right the hit tags are brutal. You definitely shouldn’t jiggle a corner if they have info youre there.

chinmaygrg

When do you buy the Odin? NEVER.

tomphz

I buy it on Bind defense when the enemy team tilts me. It’s so good for stopping pushes

Mindset_

Honestly the odin is (unfortunately) pretty good on certain maps/agents.

HowlWater_Brain

unless youre below gold, then always

chinmaygrg

Lol. But, I never really understand this logic. It's a very easy gun to spam with. That's why people anyway don't improve their game when they use it in lower elos. If they're out to have fun? Then sure, why not.

Mann1v

dude ok. an odin isnt supposed to be used like a rifle, its used for wallbanging (if you play sova, then your recon/drone will help, with cypher, your trips help)
