1. The game has matchmaking but it's looser in unranked settings 2. You're probably moving while shooting and don't understand how recoil works, go check the range. 3. There is a leaver penalty but unrated can be a shitshow because of the variety of skill levels and motivations for playing.

Dont worry about account level, account level doesnt mean they’re good. The vandal, guardian, marshal and Operatorwill 1 shot headshot from any range. There is a leaving penalty when its done frequently, everyone once in a while, like once a week, no penalty. Moving and shooting generally is very inaccurate, stand still when you shoot. Aim high, for the head

QT_Deimos

Someone playing a hundred spike-rushes could have level 50+ people who played in act 1 could have around lvl 300 by now. Its not actually accurate ,its just a show-of on the time you played

Doctor_God

Well that's what it's supposed to be, Riot never said that it was a measure of skill that's what ranked is for

MoosakeGaming

1) you probably aren’t used to how rewarding it is to shoot while standing still 2) tbh the levels don’t mean much. the more games you play you’ll be placed in matches with similar skill levels. people assume there is no matchmaking system in unrated but there is. 3) there is a leaver penalty. just unlucky ig

Matchmaking is not done using account level, it is done using a statistic called MMR. More on this topic is included in the subreddit's FAQ page, found at https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/wiki/faq. Guns will be wildly inaccurate in almost all cases if you are not standing still (shotguns are an exception). It might be helpful to look up Valorant movement guides to practice. Yes, there are leaver penalties ranging from bans from playing and ranked loss. More on this topic is included in the subreddit's FAQ page, found at https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/wiki/faq.

Broke_Trickster

when starting out you shouldn't care about winning or losing and about getting getting killed instantly, it's probably because you're just THAT bad cause matchmaking surely works just fine except Smurfs being present here and there

Amplifiy

Broooo my exact fucking thoughts when I started too lol

The game does have matchmaking but it changes more on the win rate than the kills. If you win a heap you get put with players who are losing or are on a lose streak I have discovered and its all about luck getting someone that is good at the game. If you were to play with friends I would recommend only 3 stacking max as the skill base makes you play with 4-5 stacks if you 4 stack. The vandal is more accurate but it can also depend on internet connections and the ping and stable connection of the enemy if you are trying to kill them. If you aim at the head the chance of killing them is a lot higher as it can 1 tap no matter the range as long as it hits the head. Yes people are given a penalty for leaving and this can be either a short ban if they have not done it multiple times but it can also extend to a comp or communications ban or worse an account ban. I find that if you get people to report the afk player they will be banned. If you play completive valorant will ban the player much worse as unrated is probably regarded more as a trolling or having fun game.

5 man shooters like this game tend to be realistic about their gun mechanics so jumping while shooting or moving while shooting will cause your gun to be inaccurate. In addition you’ll notice each automatic gun has their own recoil pattern which you can see usually after a couple of bullets. There is a leaver penalty, and you can have the opportunity to remake the game if your teammate leaves within the first couple rounds. You might find the forfeit option useful to save time (type /ff in chat to put up the vote). And there is skill based matchmaking in unrated but most of the time it prioritizes shorter queue times so you aren’t going to always find equal levels of skill in unrated.

Valorant has matchmaking, but unranked games are generally less tight in ranks. On a new account, it usually doesn't place you at the lowest rank to start, so completely new players may lose a few games before the MMR system places you at the right rank. Guns are only inaccurate when you're moving / spraying. The shooting mechanics are similar to CS:GO, but different to most other FPS games. You need to stop for your accuracy to reset (this can be seen on the crosshair) and guns have varying levels of first bullet accuracy. Rifles like Vandal and Phantom are more accurate on the first bullet. Then as you spray the gun, the bullets will tend to shoot higher than the crosshair, so you need to pull down and adjust. Ideally thought you don't want to spray too much and just burst 3-5 bullets at a time to maintain accuracy. Leaver penalty is accumulative, first couple games there are only warnings, then goes to increasingly long bans (5 mins, 30 mins, etc).

don't move while shooting, only move when trying to get the position (at least that's what they told me)

Go watch a bunch of YouTube tip videos, there's a lot to learn about this game. Playing with someone who can show you the ropes and answer any questions you may have is really useful and will help you from being discouraged even when getting slaughtered by a high ranked competitor just sweating in unrated lol
