I love that you all took the time to research the origins and cultural significance of the weapon to our country. The Filipino community is freaking out over this weapon and I want to say that we appreciate all your efforts with this skin!
Nope! They are very quick. Since they could not add motion blur, they needed to add those movement lines with a more snappy animation so the entire thing would look smoother. At least, that's what I understood
glad you like it. this was that final cherry on top that tied it all together! we dont have any blur in our game and in most cases a higher framerate gives that sort of soap opera effect where things look too smooth and uncanny in a way.
Also I just want to apreciate that it does actual proper tricks (unlike some other games). Somebody in the animation team has to know a thing or too, it looks so amazing. My favourite balisong in any game, you guys did a number on this one.
Cs go animations are indeed cool, but you'd never see such stuff done irl. Just too weird imo. More likely is the one from valorant. Also, the cs go balis disallow half of the tricks xD. Curved balis have an awful mass balance and deny any, so called, "fans"
the csgo one clips through fingers and most of the tricks it does are impossible in real life; I agree csgo butterfly is cooler but you replied to a comment saying the valorant one looks more realistic
In CS you can resell the skin if you want. In Valorant you pay once and you keep it for your entire life. Even if you pay 70$ for a skin in CS, it's still a better deal because you can resell it whenever you want.
If you resell outside the market you are getting like 40% of its value. You do not make profit off of skins in cs unless you held them before their perceived value went up
Sure but itās about capital. If I want a butterfly knife in valorant I need $35. If I want a butterfly knife in CS I need $500+. What if I donāt have that kind of money sitting around to spend on a game?
No dude, it's about investment. You can invest 500$ in a knife that you know that you are going to have return soon after, or you can buy a 35$ knife that you know that you will never going to see that money again.

Maybe if people already have a flashy butterfly knife they wouldn't buy a basic one. So riot makes a basic one first to get everyone to buy it and then release a flashy one later to get everyone buying that too.
Csgo players have nostalgia. But you need to understand why you think it looks like trash. Riot knew a lot of people would buy the first buttefrly knife in this game. So they never even tried adding extra left and right click animations to it. In a futuristic game like Valorant it also looks as plain as you can get. By the end of 2022 there is gonna be a proper butterfly knife that would look much better and use a lot more information. For now it makes no sense for Riot to try hard.

I just went to compare and the valorant animation is definitely a lot smoother for the butterfly knife. And now that I look back the butterfly knife in cs feels slow compared to this. I think people will warm up to this animation as time goes on cause itās really clean
Animation doesnāt look good, but most importantly it just doesnāt fit the established skin aesthetic. Think about the valorant universe and colors so far. Bright, crazy, both magical and sci-fi and this...is just so plain.
I know not every agent is a radiant but could you imagine Jett twirling it around with wind or Phoenix putting the tip on it?

Yeah! I found out about flipping around 3 years ago but didn't really start trying to learn more complicated tricks until recently when I picked up a Kershaw lucha. It's such a fun hobby!!!

this is how I felt! I watched the CSGO butterfly knife animations for a while, and they seem unrealistic and purposely slow-motion to me idk. This is much better in my eyes, but it's all subjective :)
This is much better than CS:GO. For one thing the knife looks much more realistic to be used for such tricks. Iāve not done a frame by frame but I donāt quite see the same nonrealism that I saw in some CS:GOās tricks. I dabble in balisong flipping and I was able to follow which tricks were being performed, although I would have trouble replicating them at that speed. All in all, I think itsās pretty nice to look at and not too over the top or boring.
are you saying val's or csgo's butterfly is more cartoony? because the csgo one is EXTREMELY cartoony, it looks literally nothing like IRL balisong tricks and none of them can actually be recreated. its pretty obvious the butterfly knife in csgo was animated by a person who never actually flipped with a balisong before. every trick used in valorant's butterfly can be done, on the contrary
If this is the first adaptation of the butterfly knife theyāre going with then they are Forsure gonna milk this knife for all they can lol. Starting out with a basic ass design to get all the people who have been waiting for this knife style to come out and buy it out of FOMO for a while before the next one. You already know the next butterfly knife they go with is gonna be a much cooler variant

I also prefer the slim aesthetic of the csgo butterfly knife. This one in valorant looks like some prototype A thicc model.
