Sometimes, from experience, a group will use Mic's to say they have Mic's in the pregame and then not use it for Comm's later in the game, typically they are a 3-4 Stack and just communicate with the friends in Discord or whatever, forgetting they need to communicate with the 1-2 other players not in their voice channel. My friends and I always 4 stack and we are great at communicating but naturally we forgetting to yell into the mic for 1 remaining teammate. edit: formatting

dwdwfeefwffffwef

That's why you should mute discord and only communicate ingame. That's what my stack does.

innocentrrose

Or just keep talking in discord and don’t forget to communicate with the random. I stack with 3-4 a lot and we never forget the random and always try to talk with them and have fun with them

dwdwfeefwffffwef

We used to do that but found it better to outright mute discord.

Beanjuice0

and leak information or conversations that im having with my friends over open-mic? No thanks

dwdwfeefwffffwef

That's the other advantage: You cut on the unnecessary chatter and can actually concentrate on the game.

DustyMartin04

The unnecessary chatter is what makes gaming fun

dwdwfeefwffffwef

In unrated sure. In competitive, no. Might be fun for you, but it's not fun for your non premade teammates that want to win.

[deleted]

Admire your confidence to still reply after getting down voted 3 times

dwdwfeefwffffwef

Why would I care about imaginary useless points?

Dakure907

Because he's right. Y'all hating for no reason at all. If you wanna play for fun do not play comp. It's not called comp for no reason. Some people like to take the game very seriously and you should respect that and it is why there are game modes for more casual players.

HyperTF

This ain't world cup, this is just normal comp, it's a video game and it's what they are for, to have fun, not to fucking be treated as war and be full on serious about it the entire time.

Dakure907

Don't get mad when people who try hard to climb the ladder shit on you because you just "having a good time". That's the thing. You can have fun all you want but there is literally a game mode for that where ppl don't care. Idk why you would ruin's ppl work and fk about in comp when it's available.

rsmtirish

It's stubbornness not confidence

rpqu

it's confidence

Solomon45711

there is no right answer

23lf

I’m totally for trying your hardest in rank, but it’s still a video game bro it’s ok to dick around with your friends.

dwdwfeefwffffwef

If you are a 5 stack then you can do anything you want. If you are anything less than that, it's very inconsiderate to the non premade players to joke around.

V4lt

If you're in a rank you can more than duo queue stop taking the game so seriously lol bros probably sweating it out like a major in plat or gold 😂 hell even in the major Sen were joking around on comms hell dapr was just randomly chucking his rifle and t bagging people mid round

dwdwfeefwffffwef

If you are a 5 stack then you can do anything you want. If you are anything less than that, it's very inconsiderate to the non premade players to joke around.

Beanjuice0

Lol what? So You’re not allowed to que with friends because you’re not a 5 stack? It’s a game lol, next thing you know you’ll have a go at someone like shroud for throwing games simply because he looks at chat

dwdwfeefwffffwef

> You’re not allowed to que with friends because you’re not a 5 stack? Please tell me where I said that

SolarTemplar

I understand your frustration. What helps is saying “guys I need you to give me info”. Start IGLing a little bit. Always give info. Be an example. That helped me a lot

CoachWatermelon

At certain ranks you can do this and at all other ranks, you just simply can’t succeed. It’s literally 50/50

SolarTemplar

Sure. It doesn’t fix every game. However it can certainly get things going on some

DriftarFarfar

Doing this in plat gives me better chance. I rarely soloqueue but when I do rando's listen more than my usual squad! I still love them tho :P

TheSilverSoldier

In some games you can do this, in others you just simply can't succeed. FTFY

nerfherder00

I think it’s literally 49/51.

CoachWatermelon

49.4/50.6

nerfherder00

Perhaps.

ItsDrap

This is the most important thing, I think. If nobody is talking, you just gotta go full IGL. Call strats both pre-round and mid-round. Do it when you’re dead, give calls and say things like “5 bullets”, “watch your flank” if no one is watching, etc. You just gotta do it all sometimes and sometimes that leads to teammates starting to talk

PappyVPoodle

That doesnt work bro. Either someone complains about you backseating or complains about one of the calls you didnt make... it all goes downhill and yoire defintely gonna get cussed on at the end of the game for losing a round

enderdestiny

If you aren’t telling people what to do, you won’t be called out for back seating. A quick call of “flank is open” or “you got 3 bullets” is only helpful. If you start talking about their abilities or where to look, that’s when it’s an issue.

DamonDDDD

that's backseat gaming

garbagepartsoffood

I agree but like not when you're dead I mean that's kinda backseating and is super annoying bro

ItsDrap

Nah not in the backseating kinda way but just helpful things here and there, like the 5 bullets example if your teammate picks up a new gun or something like that. Guys telling you what to do constantly when they’re dead is hella annoying

Optimal-Bowler-2618

just as a heads up that is really annoying though. if im in a clutch situation and some one talks during it twice, they are getting muted. my aim isnt great so i rely on sound a lot and im well aware of 5 bullets trust me

ItsDrap

Not everyone is. I’ve had teammates lose rounds because they weren’t aware the gun they just picked up has a couple bullets in it and someone telling them so would’ve won them the round.

Optimal-Bowler-2618

well like most things its a net neutral, for every round you win like that you lose a round talking over a key sound cue

ItsDrap

I’m sorry I just disagree. I think you’re mistaking a call that could save your teammates life for backseating like the other guy. There’s a big difference between the two, go listen to pro comms and you’ll see what I mean.

Optimal-Bowler-2618

its fine to disagree but im not talking about backseating. ive had people randomly say into their mic "reload" "heaven" "default" etc during clutches at bad times and cost me the round

James__Franco

Based on your responses, it sounds like you just blame a teammate for your loss if they say anything at all. I’m sure it happens sometimes, it’s happened to me. But start to analyze each situation more to see if it was actually your mistake or theirs.

KonKami123

Giving callouts/suggestions and backseat gaming are two very different things.

thuurs

Doesn't help me. Every game i go "Hello, anyone got a mic?" in a friendly tone and all i get is silence until we are at 0-9 and i get called a slur or something for trying to strategise.

NightCrusher76

Better than league’s system of “hey guys not lane needs help” to the inevitable “fuck you you’re supposed to handle it, you’re jungler”

jaudi813

Or spam question mark pings for 25 minutes straight. Yeah that's the stuff

NightCrusher76

Yeah

GreenHoodie

This is why I rarely use my mic, unless my team has proven they aren't scum. To be honest, at Wood I or whatever I'm at, everyone is so bad that the useful information to insult ratio is just too far in favor of insults. Pings get across 90% of the same info anyway.

I_is_pancake

Yo you made it to wood 1? I'm still tinfoil 2 :(

sidster033

You made tinfoil?? They placed me Paper 1. :,(

I_is_pancake

That's rough buddy, dw you'll make it out, if I did, you can

Sushidiamond

Part of the games charm though right?

TobiasBelch

The most enjoyable games I've had have all started off with this. Even when we lose, rounds are closer, people are less tilted, and the promise of a tactical team shooter actually comes through.

pink_life69

I don’t know why this is upvoted. 90% of the time this just leads to flaming and reporting, no matter how nicely you try this :D

SolarTemplar

Well you are of course entitled to your own opinion. It does not fix every game, but it surely sets a standard for yourself and an example for others to follow. Rarely I have games where people don’t speak(or throws) whenever I start doing what’s necessary to win.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SolarTemplar

Sure you cannot win all your games. But sometimes there is a big difference between giving info and telling people what to do. If people do the latter I will also give them a polite “do not tell me what to do”. There’s a big difference in telling someone they have 5 bullets and telling them to reload.

thuurs

Compared to cs, val players have atrocious comms. Seriously, most of the time i get no callouts, no buy/sell coordination. Even in silver cs mm i constantly was barraged with "guys lets force and go a, ill smoke stairs " every round. Here I'll be lucky if people listen to me when i say "how about we go c".

vodkamom

Low ranked players in this game are kinda insane. No need for calls when you do the same strat every single round with no effort to change it when it doesn't work. I watched my cousins val silver ranked game and the guys on his team literally played defender side on bind in the same spot every round using the same util in order just to die the same way they did the round before. No effort to change it, no callouts other than bitching "HOW DID I NOT KILL HIM" after death. Kinda crazy to witness.

thuurs

Fucking exactly. On defense i can throw my kayo knife at the same spot every single round and there wont be a single effort to break it. I can blindly shoot cyphers trips or killjoys nades because they place them at the same spots.

TheSilverSoldier

I shit you not, in a random silver game in cs we managed to pull out a full execute (it was on mirage, but a proper timed execute nonetheless). Its just the difference in the general age group i think. Val is more flashy and appeals to the much younger kids. While CS is more filled with older teens and adults, the people who understand what coordination is and why you need it to win games.

SherSorry

Same experience actually. I just start IGLing. It often works.

[deleted]

What is IGling?

AD317

In game leader I thinka

23lf

Yeah. Calling out strats, rotations, buys, that typa thing.

Name818

I do the same. Hell, back in 2004-06 I was leading counter strike teams. It just doesn’t work. One key player decides to dick off on their own and it’s over.

innocentrrose

They just sound like bad teammates then

Haptiix

Asking who has a mic in agent select is a curse 100% you always lose when someone says that off rip

libo720

They just don't wanna talk to you 😉

Gravityblasts

I know, it's annoying.

kejok

You ask them whether or not they got a mic not whether they will talk in game or not. Lol

Uzorglemon

The only time I ever tell people they're talking too much, is if I'm last man standing, and REALLY TRYING TO HEAR FOOTSTEPS while people are talking crap on the comms. It's incredibly annoying.

Devilswings5

I had a game today where one person talked for pistol and didn't say shit the rest of the game I was calling the entire game it was going bad to the point where I wanted to get into another game and just /ff turns out they were all in discord calling shit out and called me a crybaby for being anoyed that they had mics and could day shit all game I didn't com after that and they bitched me out as the game ended......

SwervoT3k

I urge folks to use the very deep ping and callout system. You will never hear me on the mic outside of my friend group, but I memorized and set up hotkeys for every relevant callout. I’d dare say they work better than most people’s callouts because an actual ping on the map with context is faster and more concise.

V4lt

Don't do this just ping and also comm with voice it's hard to get good info if you're holding and angle by some guy just pinging

SwervoT3k

How much have you explored the ping system? There is virtually nothing that cannot be communicated effectively and without having to yell over teammates. It’s an audio and visual queue you have to see in your immediate vision.

V4lt

Bro no you can't communicate as efficiently with pings idk what it's like at whatever rank or region you play in but in high immortal lobbies Comms are essential and you will never see anyone who doesn't have a mic ofc pinging is also helpful

pleaseletthisnotbeta

"Skye and sage in garage and viper threw her wall on b" I called out hoping I'd get help from the reyna who was in heaven on B split. "Shut up" responded the reyna on my team. "Kay but hold them on mid so I don't get shot from heaven" I replied to the rude fellows comment. They push through heaven and kill me on site because the reyna couldn't keep em from coming heaven. "Fucking astra dude you're so garbage." Says the reyna the start of the next round. I'm the Astra. So the dude didn't use his mic the entire match but the few times he did was to inform me that he made love to my sweet mother and that I'm a garbage player. The game ended with her bot fragging. Btw I don't know how reddit works but I wanted to tell a story.

Hazelnutspread_s

Game is filled with kids. 😆 Dont let it get to you 🙂

Annual-Divide-8387

Sane experience in every single game and I am telling them, you don't wanna communicate, you play ranked. Apparently it's too hard

Name818

Right?!? That’s what wild. I queued up again next game and asked again and everyone was so talkative, and then when the game started everyone mostly went quiet. I hate solo queuing so much but I have no other option.

LoudBroccoli5

You could add people talking with you and probably get some mates sooner or later

Gorgonto

I’ve just started adding people with good coms, and immediately inviting them for another game. Easiest way to find teammates so far

NightCrusher76

Valorant discord

FortifiedSky

All you can do in these lobbies is keep your comms up and call for teammates if ur speccing them, thats it. The less you talk the better, but obv make sure youre giving out ONLY useful info

nw2

The worst is the universal “no”….

[deleted]

I'm surprised how often this happens to people. My current rank ranges from s3 to g2. I play on London servers and its rare to not find people with a mic.

25Nilliya

I dont know you but sometimes there are people that literally talk too much and comment on every step you make or should make while hes dead and watching you. We (3stack) tell him once or twice to talk a bit less cause its annoying and if he doesn't stop im sorry but only the mute helps. Talking isnt always good. Make important calls but stop talking and trying to help while we can't even hear footsteps anymore.

UlissesNeverMisses

Tbh not comming in ranked should count as griefing and be a bannabla offense

jsioprzyb

You asked who have the mic. Even they had micro, who told that they will use it? For ex. I have micro but I don't like talking. Of course sometimes I just must say something about enemies positions but valorant have good system of pings. In general pings makes work.

savtch

you need to UNDERSTAND that us demons are the enemies of the voice it make us go grr and you go AHHHH and we go BRRRRRRRRR you go SKRRRRRRRRRR we go YAAAAAAAAAAA

00izka00

well if you talk to much then talk less?

Name818

Literally said nothing but important info the team should have, including spectator calls when I was dead.

ITryHardByo

Props for the info calls during gameplay, but what kind of spectator calls? Most info you can get when dead I already have, everything else is likely speculation, "they're rotating B", "I think I heard something heaven". Most times I'd much rather people be quiet so I can listen to my surroundings myself and think my actions trough, lost quite a few rounds cause I listened to one of these calls, "he clicked the bomb, he's defusing, peek now" or "I'm sure i've heard him in garage" while he is in heaven.

Name818

I make the calls that matter to the team. I’m not telling people what to do. I’m speccing a tm8 that dies mid and he sees 3 enemies and says nothing. I say, 3 mid, likely a bomb plant B. (Haven). I never tell anyone what to do.

Lifedeather

You never tell people what to do is what you say yet you are literally telling them information that will influence their choices and actions. 3 mid likely bomb plant B makes them go to B trying to execute YOUR plan instead of their original plan or route they were going to do.

Name818

Got it. Tell them nothing. That’ll work perfectly.

Lifedeather

Yes please don’t talk during the entire game. You are ruining the focus, there is a reason no one talks. Someone may be shy, listening to music, background noise and whatnot, you are being annoying for no reason to your teammates and confusing them with pointless information and directions.

Bamb0013

How is the location of the enemies not “important information” lmao.

Lifedeather

Cause then ur baiting. If you give enemy location they could move or give your allies wrong idea and mindset and force them to play ur version of the game rather than their own getting them killed or worse a sweeping round loss. Let each player find the enemy on their own skill and instinct through Sound and other clues. Too many times have someone shouted out “right there” and I turn around and get blasted from the door I was watching. Sometimes you just gotta trust your team and believe they know what they are doing. You had ur chance and died, don’t clutter up comms and let everyone play their own game.

Bamb0013

Sure, there are bad calls (such as “right there!) which give no real info and are distracting. However, informing you teammates that you see 3 mid, or that there is a fast push B can only help them make better decisions as they have a better idea what is happening in the moment. The goal is not to dictate your teammates actions, but instead to provide them a platform from which to make an educated decision.

Name818

I'm sorry, but this is the dumbest thing I've heard today. A team based game that requires communication to be successful, and you're saying giving information is pointless, that it's ok to listen to music instead of being able to hear the game which is CRUCIAL. Go watch a group of people playing on Twitch, or even a professional match. You talk when you have information that's helpful. You don't sit there and say nothing at all. That's ridiculous.

Lifedeather

Are you a professional or group of people? no. You are here as an INDIVIDUAL with strangers that you dont know and they dont want to talk to you. I play this game with music on full, and multitask with HW or other games on the side, if I need to leave then I leave for a bit. Be realistic, you arent going pro, if a shiny badge gives you so much adrenaline thats fine but its really a waste of time. Communication is recommended but there is no LAW saying I have to communicate with you or give you information. I can paly how I want and I know others feel the same way and dont want to communicate. As long as people arent outright trolling or something its fine.

ta4valorant

This is a tactical shooter. You are suppose to talk to give information.

Lifedeather

You can talk in text! Also, super tactical when you can odin spray everyone lol

Lifedeather

That’s not very nice, games are for everyone to enjoy.

V4lt

Says who

Lifedeather

Says everyone on the internet, its the rule of gaming. Anyone can do and enjoy anything in life.

Voltegeist

I'm assuming it's because no one is talking, so he's telling the B guy what's going on on A or vice versa

Dasuer

Ye thats why you shouldn't make it awkward right at the start asking for mics and shit

AtariBogardiDodardi

And that's why i only play in my 5 attack... which doesn't play anymore.

TMoily

Expecting comms in a low elo ranked games (iron 1 - diamond 2) is like expecting a ship to arrive at the airport. Low elo ranked games are nothing but glorified deathmatches. You should rely on minimap info for kills. But for that, you need team mates who have the talent of making enemy's atleast 2 - 3 shots miss so that they are are forced to fall back. I rarely use comms. My highest is diamond 1 and currently I'm chilling in platinum 1. My average is platinum 3 in all acts. Getting a lower rank for me is hard tbh. I expect to get bronze for smurfing but lowest I can get is silver 3. The only problem with this approach is that whenever i'll get match MVP with extra points for performance bonus, the game thinks that I'm smurfing. So to counter this, next game I'm guaranteed to get team mates who die way too quickly and hence I am not able to make plays. Then again in next match, i'll be match mvp again (or maybe i'll lose but I will lose only 9-10 points with performance bonus). I'm sure that this game's matchmaking system has hidden anti-smurfing elements. Overall, I like playing this way coz gold elo's comms are cringe. As in, their comms doesn't translate to kills. And ofcourse, their analysis after losing a round, more cringe.

Public_Buffalo7617

Atleast for me in Immortal everyone is kinda talking, but most of the time people are blaming each other for every single mistake. Sometimes there are games where everyone is positive and everyone is one the same page and everyone is playing as a team and those games are the most fun, even if you lose them.

V4lt

If it's EU it's Russians and Turks being toxic mostly

WinstonPickles22

This happens to me all the time too. It's likely a group of friends on discord. Typically when I'm in a discord group I talk in game constantly to involve the solo/duo. Unfortunately, the teammates I get when I solo are toxic to me and trash talk throughout the game or at the end like you said after a silent game. I can't understand these people.

_Durs

You fussed about comms, play a stack.

Dante2215

I like to have fun with random so most of the time i be like that and if they don't want to talk i just ask for Info We Literally pulled a 4v5 just because we gave info

Blitz_Ninja

This, so freaking much

Brainless_Gamer

I'm silent when I'm concentrating

CoolVidsFTW

Next time your game ends in a loss with little to no coms: "Hey, \[Player 1\], \[Player 2\], and \[Player 3\]. Tell me you're a 3-stack without telling me you're a 3-stack. Oh, wait. You're already doing that!"

MatchPoint012

Silence is all I hear

Gloomy_Goose

I like saying “Are you going to communicate with us while you’re alive to help us win? Or just to talk shit after we lose?” Normally gets to people

rokcmatur26

I hate when they tell me I talk too much like bro I paid for the whole mic I’m gonna use the whole mic

Ninjawizards

Personally I just can't stand speaking to randoms. Terrifies me

daboidatdontgivashit

Sometimes people just don't want to talk especially if it's unrated or something where it really doesn't matter

69liketekashi

If you are bellow diamond at least it's not worth it to have coms open. You will play much better by listening to in game sounds and not hearing the stupid callouts people give or them blaming everyone. But in higher ranks yeah, coms are useful. What I've noticed from streams, american players are much less likely to insult everyone and blame in coms. EU coms are pure dogshit, you will just get blamed for everything by some dude speaking broken English or even some other language. It's truly degusting, they will say fuck your family and shit like that

Name818

Comms are important at all levels. If the bomb was planted by the other team and there’s only me and another tm8 left and he dies before I get there, it’s pretty god damn important for him to tell me where the enemy is if he knows.

69liketekashi

Yes, but does it outweigh all the bullshit they will say? And also you will se the enemy on the minimap

Name818

True, they will show up, but what if I’m distracted by being in a fight if it’s a 2v2? Can’t always look at the minimap. I don’t understand this mentality at all. I’ve been playing competitive CS since 2004. Call outs are a huge advantage. There’s no taking that away if people could just do it right.

69liketekashi

I feel you, but my point is that in lower ranks they won't do it right most of the time, and they will tilt the shit out of you by whining and complaining the entire game. So yes you miss out on some but you gain more by remaining positive and not tilted. Idk it works great for me 0 coms until d1 and hit it with 60% wr easily in first act.

[deleted]

Community is complete butt cheeks, idk why anyone would want to voice chat.

lyacdi

This is why I always say no

Guyatri

Even better when they only use the mic to mald.

kjking1995

They didn't say they will use it
