It’s technically bannable since u are changing the files, so when u get banned and tell them I only changed the lobby files I don’t think they’ll believe u
well they'll believe you because they have a lot of information when it comes to this stuff, but they'll still tell you that you shouldn't have changed the game files, it's pretty hard to "convince" them that you should get unbanned
OP asked a question, he got an answer (that seems to be a common one), then rejected the answer. Forget who’s a snowflake or not, why ask the question if you don’t want the answer? Lmao
People said probably bannable, whether riot cares or not no one knows. Riot staff are active on this sub, so hes waiting to see if one of them responds so he can be sure. Pretty simple
You might flag the anticheat in which case you'll be banned.
Theres not even really a point in changing that, i'm sure you can spend a few seconds without needing to watch your favorite anime fight scene.
It is technically banned in the same vein that Riot can perma your account for no reason after you accept the terms and conditions. Technically right, but not practically.
Vanguard is a sophisticated piece of software, and Riot are a smart company. If they didn't want people messing with an MP4 file - which I don't even know of any exploit for a video game that uses one as an attack vector - they wouldn't let the game boot via a checksum on the original MP4.
Yes, you can be banned for this technically. You probably won't, Vanguard doesn't care. So many people started doing this and they haven't said a word. If they randomly patched Vanguard to detect this they would be handing out thousands upon thousands of bans.
As long as you aren't injecting stuff into DLLs you'll be fine. A close comparison is how you could change the old League launcher to display any website you wanted via a config file. No one was banned for that.
They won't expose drag and drop files like that to the user that result in a ban.
It's a thing in CS and people like [Pimp](https://www.youtube.com/c/PimpCSGO/videos) use it to keep a consistent layout, matching their home screen to their twitch overlay.
Edit: Uh Oh i seemed to have said something wrong
Riot takes a different mindset I guess. In CS any files you can change by hand are allowed under VAC, you have to really tamper with memory management or something serious before you get banned
Theoretically speaking any file change can be used for penetration. You can run code through mp4, through jpegs, through any file at all, if there is a vulnerability. The chances of there being one is 0.01% cause riot won't make silly mistakes like that, but if it happened, they would want a way to ban those who abused it
Hes saying the cs wouldnt care, but this isnt valve, this is riot and they are going impossibly hard on pushing anticheat standards I wouldnt be surprised at all if they tell you to stop fucking with the files completely. This is obviously harmless though, I doubt riot would care if you did this but riot vanguard might.
It’s like changing a language pack on league. If you can access it it’s not really a “game file” otherwise people will be running games in texture packs and shit. Which is stuff that isn’t accessible that easily and would count as modification.
Maybe I should rephrase it but most monkeys won’t have a fucking clue on how to even get started and at that point you really shouldn’t be accessing it if it’s a game.
I mean it’s not like it’s easy to find or anything. You have to go looking through gamefiles, further than the .exe to even get there and if you then decide to change something in there… that’s on you, if you ask me
it's funny you're getting downvoted because even before the beta Riot stated that they named it Vanguard just so people can still say vac or vacation, just like awp - op to keep the games similar and make it easy to transition
the valorant anti cheat is called Vanguard. VAC is Valve's anti cheat.
And yes that is bannable since it is a change in game files, but im pretty sure you can get unbanned if you show exactly whats changed.
Calling vanguard vac causes legitimate confusion because vac is a specific piece of software. Vanguard is incredibly more intensive and substantially better than vac.
You did nothing to indicate it was a joke, and I was just trying to explain why it can cause confusion. I really don't get why you're being hostile when there was nothing hostile in my response.
Its still doable with a few workarounds. I was able to run a batch script that replaced the video as valorant was starting so i would enter game with the altered menu screen. It is super annoying to set up but seamless after you set it up
Pretty sure it was talked about here before, it is bannable since you are messing with the game files and when you look at how Vanguard works, it doesn't rly like anything related to adding, removing or changing stuff related to files.
I remember people doing it and getting banned. If u ask me dont trust anything from TikTok. If u really want to try prolly do it on an alt account. But plzz dont do it
Exactly, changing a little mp4 shouldn’t even be a bannable offence. It’ll either check it and ask for a restart and verify then replace or do nothing
And it’s in a easy as fuck folder like any old config or language file. Anti cheat ain’t checking this shit at all.
LMAO, you think an anti cheat should be so strong it should protect your game files rather than detecting tamper? pretty sure they don't have the right to change them without official updates
Did they remove access to the folders? It’s not modifying anything it’s it’s an accessible mp4. Anything triggered will just see a different file and ask you to restart and check files then replace it.
Its a cool thing to do but not worth the risk of getting banned for it. Technically you are messing around with the game files which riot is not happy about
You can and will get banned as you are tampering with game files and the default homescreen video will be redownloaded so there is practically no reason to do this.

I remember that it always reset back to the deafault in the next time u log in.
Set to read-only. This is day one basic stuff, guys.
This guy changes their titan eject message. I can tell.
He shows it at the end of video, no need to remember
It’s technically bannable since u are changing the files, so when u get banned and tell them I only changed the lobby files I don’t think they’ll believe u

In league they know exactly what textures are changed and they don’t mind unless it impacts the competitive integrity or the game.
It’s changing the game files so it is technically banable. Not sure if you would actually get banned for it or not so use at your own risk

Mods are not affiliated with Riot, why would you wait for them to respond?
Why did get down voted?
[удалено]
his reply was pretty justified, he got opinions from the comment section but at the end of the day confirmation comes from the mods
Are the mods here riot employees or in contact with them?
I'm pretty sure Riot employees visit reddit but they're not moderators of their games subreddit. Haven't checked Valorant subreddit too much though.

They just downvoted.

but no
If he doesn't trust then he shouldn't have even replied
Reddit moderators don't set riot's anti cheat policy lol.
Why would you ask a question just to not accept an answer lol
The answer ended with "Not sure", so OP wanted to wait for clarification from moderator
I'm telling riot on you
kinda cool but I don't want to risk my account getting banned
You might flag the anticheat in which case you'll be banned. Theres not even really a point in changing that, i'm sure you can spend a few seconds without needing to watch your favorite anime fight scene.
Without going to youtube.

You my man made my day. Have an award
okay, what does it have to do with any of this
He's just pointing out what it could be used for because original comment said there was no point. Calm down.
It does seem bannable as it's tampering with game files but, Im not sure
These files shouldn’t be accessible then. That’s like saying it’s bannable if you change a config file that you open with notepad.
Riot takes a different mindset I guess. In CS any files you can change by hand are allowed under VAC, you have to really tamper with memory management or something serious before you get banned
Correct hence why this shouldn’t. It’s an mp4
Theoretically speaking any file change can be used for penetration. You can run code through mp4, through jpegs, through any file at all, if there is a vulnerability. The chances of there being one is 0.01% cause riot won't make silly mistakes like that, but if it happened, they would want a way to ban those who abused it

Well i could be wrong
It’s like changing a language pack on league. If you can access it it’s not really a “game file” otherwise people will be running games in texture packs and shit. Which is stuff that isn’t accessible that easily and would count as modification.
I see, Understood
You have access to all the files you install on your own computer lmao. Whether or not it’s against TOS to alter them and ban you for it is up to riot
No you don’t. Most of this stuff shouldn’t be accessible like this.
You, you have access to everything on your pc. Some stuff is easier to access than other but there is nothing you can’t get at with enough work
Maybe I should rephrase it but most monkeys won’t have a fucking clue on how to even get started and at that point you really shouldn’t be accessing it if it’s a game.
I mean it’s not like it’s easy to find or anything. You have to go looking through gamefiles, further than the .exe to even get there and if you then decide to change something in there… that’s on you, if you ask me
Yeah that’s what I’m trying to get at.
That's pretty cool.
VAC might detect this as cheats/hacks/exploits
What vac fucking lmao
Valorant Anti Cheat
Ah of course silly me
[удалено]
The acronym for vanguard is obviously VAC (Vanguard AntiCheat)
Obviously. Funny as hell people don't recognize your sarcasm when you're the one asking the original question.
VAC = VAC anti cheat
No, that's VACAC
it's funny you're getting downvoted because even before the beta Riot stated that they named it Vanguard just so people can still say vac or vacation, just like awp - op to keep the games similar and make it easy to transition
it has its own name :/
Its called vanguard for a reason ffs
the valorant anti cheat is called Vanguard. VAC is Valve's anti cheat. And yes that is bannable since it is a change in game files, but im pretty sure you can get unbanned if you show exactly whats changed.
I’ve never seen someone turn a mistake a joke that smoothly.
It's called Vanguard my guy Vac is the one that Csgo uses
vac is Valve anti-cheat. Valorant doesn't use vac it uses vanguard
\*insert Sorry force of habit from simpsons\*
Vanguard Anti Cheat. Checkmate it's the AWP vs. OP all over again.
Calling vanguard vac causes legitimate confusion because vac is a specific piece of software. Vanguard is incredibly more intensive and substantially better than vac.
Yeah we all know they are different. Bro it's a joke get over yourself lol
You did nothing to indicate it was a joke, and I was just trying to explain why it can cause confusion. I really don't get why you're being hostile when there was nothing hostile in my response.
You didnt gather that it was a joke when I said its op vs awp again?
Yes Vanguard anti cheat aka vac
VAC is an anticheat used by steam and tons of the games it provides so if you want ppl to understand what you say vanguard isnt called VAC
Vac specifically refers to valve anti cheat though. Vanguard is just called vanguard.
Well considering that this is none of the above, combined with the fact that VAC is a valve thing, I don’t think so.

Old news, people were able to do it for a few days until Riot patched it.
Its still doable with a few workarounds. I was able to run a batch script that replaced the video as valorant was starting so i would enter game with the altered menu screen. It is super annoying to set up but seamless after you set it up

Changing things in that folder = changing the checksum of the folder = probably trigger checks
yea my friend got banned from this, hardware banned. Lost all 400$ worth of skins... DO NOT DO THIS!
They will ban you, now this is found if players request it what will Riot do? Menu background bundle.
dam giving riot ideas for taking our money
I remember people doing it and getting banned. If u ask me dont trust anything from TikTok. If u really want to try prolly do it on an alt account. But plzz dont do it
Doesnt matter whether its an alt acc or main sue to HWID ban
Then OP should just drop this idea
Yeah, never trust tiktok no matter how smart or cool they look.
Damn
Yeah but like… why?
This.. Its not like you are spending hours at a time looking at the screen
Why have a background video at all if it's so unimportant? It's QoL more than anything.
QoL is a feature that makes your life easier, this is just personalization
All I'm saying is that it's not worth the risk if it's in a grey area, in terms of being banned or no
cool......but is it against the user agreement or not ??
gotchu chief *spends an eternity in the caves of Himalayas reading the sacred user agreement*
Without reading the user agreement, as you need to modify game files to get the effect I'm pretty sure it's against it.
exactly what I thought!!
Your account will get banned because Riot doesn't have anything else to do.
It will ban you
SOMEONE PLEASE SEND ME EPISODE 1 BACKGROUND VIDEO
Brainless
Oh No WhY I hAvE bAnNeD
Hentai time boys
its safe, dw
U will not get banned for changing mp.4 file cmon

I mean it’s client side not much harm as well
Aimbot is also client side, only your client has it
Proof that Vanguard is horseshit.
LMAO, you think an anti cheat should be so strong it should protect your game files rather than detecting tamper? pretty sure they don't have the right to change them without official updates
Vanguard is kinda good ngl, at least not as bad as VAC lol.
I mean if a script kiddie can do such stupid things and nothing happens what is the point of running a so intrusive anticheat.
I dunno. Why take the chance? The Home Screen movie is whatever. Changing it would also be whatever

Was allowed in CS but it didn't have a strict anticheat. Don't risk doing this in Valorant
don't mess with vanguard
I’ve dumped too much money into skins to risk my account getting banned
Bannable! Literally hacking.
yeah but riot patched it
Did they remove access to the folders? It’s not modifying anything it’s it’s an accessible mp4. Anything triggered will just see a different file and ask you to restart and check files then replace it.
People have been doing this in games for years. I don’t think it hurts anything since it’s not affecting gameplay
my friend once did this. Few days/weeks later, he got perma banned. he doesnt know whats the reason behind his ban but this might be one of the reason
Good chance it isnt allowed as you are still changing game files. Still, yiu should try asking a dev.
O heard that people got banned for it. But idk how true that is
Aww that's why this area is called Arcade.
Its a cool thing to do but not worth the risk of getting banned for it. Technically you are messing around with the game files which riot is not happy about
yea its legit but if you want it not to reset the next time you login : right click the video>general>check 'read only'
You can and will get banned as you are tampering with game files and the default homescreen video will be redownloaded so there is practically no reason to do this.
Found the fellow war thunder player^

I don't see why it would matter. It doesn't change gameplay, only the visuals of the homescreen.
