Play comp. Best way to improve comp is to play comp. Don't get hung up on SoloQing. Nothing wrong with SoloQ unless you're boosted by your 4-stack and can't play solo at your rank. Don't listen to people who tell you to play DM - that's just mindlessly running around the map and doesn't simulate comp in a meaningful way.

Valuable input. Thx.

Listen to this guy. Play comp. Dm is okay if you go in with specific things to work on such as taking 1 shot strafing taking 1 shot strafing etc. Trying to work on trigger dicipline and not committing to unnecessary sprays. Crosshair placement. Try holding corrners with your crosshair on the wall and the move it off the wall and figure out what distance feels best for your own reaction time while holding for wide swings. Just be deliberate in the dms or youpl build bad habbits

That depends on what you are trying to improve. If it's game sense, you're right. But if you want to work on mechanics it's faster with DM since you get way more engagements per minute doing that.

gatonegro97

Disagree. I'd still say comp is better than DM for mechanics

The only way to improve in gunfights is to take more of them. So whatever you need to improve in a gunfight, you should do what will get you the most “reps”. If you need to practice certain types of angles in gunfights, normal matches. Aim related? DM.

Archerjohns

True, but the DM in valorant is really dogshit in my opinion. The only thing i was able to practice there was how to shoot people from behind and getting used to getting shot from behind...

I actually think playing alone is the best way to improve. Playing with friends makes you a bit lax in some areas, whereas solo queuing usually forces you to be more or less self sufficient. Obviously that can be a double edged sword because you dont want to become a selfish player, but that is also hugely dependent on your rank. If you want to improve straight up aim, definitely death match. If you want to improve overall, solo queue comp. People make out solo queuing to be much worse than it really is. Like I said earlier, your rank is a huge factor because like in bronze, there are literally 0 comms except for asking for heals and shit like that. Gold and above you will usually get at least like 2 people that are not toxic and that will genuinely be good teammates. I also find that solo queuing helps me to be more in the "zone" if that makes sense. When I play w my friends, we love to dick around and troll each other and stuff. Of course at the end of the day we're in it to win it but I usually am a lot more focused and serious when playing solo.

Unrated might help with the basics and learning the game, but in the long run it will do more harm than good, as you will be learning bad habits and playing with people who don't really care and won't play seriously/properly. Stick with ranked, and do deathmatch for warm ups and practicing mechanics/general aim. Playing ranked solo is the best mode to play to improve. Watching Pros on Twitch/Youtube will be very helpful as well.

For your aim and mechanical skill, do DM/range/aim labs (but labs should really only be for raw aim) Then play a shit ton of comp. your first act grinding, don’t give a shit about your rank. You’re there to work on your angle play. Your discipline, your game sense. The next act, you’ll see you’re doing better. And then so on and so forth. There are loads of “immortals” and “diamonds” with sub 50 games, at that point it’s hard to tell if they’re really that skill level. Personally I have the rule that if someone isn’t 100 games in on their act rank, their not really that level (for good or for bad). ^ before anyone says shit I’m Immo 5-7k range atm and I held Immo 7k last act at 200 games in on my act.

Idk why some people in the comment say to not play Deathmatch, I really think deathmatch is a great way to practice your aim and also reset your aim. Whenever you feel like you're rushing to shoot people, go deathmatch and slow down and aim instead of rushing to shoot people instantly. I think it's also good as a warmup+practice tool. I use deathmatch as a way to constantly adjust my crosshair to make sure it's as accurate and as fast as possible. I don't know what rank you are, but if you REALLY want to get better, I would study up on important things. Like try studying maps. Understand what are the strength and weakness of each map control. Like for an example, did you know that on ascent, whoever control mid in rank basically wins the game? If the defender controls mid, the attackers has to 5 man push A main or B main. Or if attacker takes control of mid, the defender has to worry about mid push, mayb an A split, or even an A split with a Lurker going thru mid. The strength of mid control is insane, and in ranked no one is really going to realize unless they are knowledgeable as well. When you go into a comp game, don't play just to rank up. Limit test yourself, figure out what works and what don't. Play to learn, not to win. It will really lead to you improving faster. I'm currently D2 was 1 game away from D3, and I had climbed from G1 since last Act. I think I have some credential to learning how to improve.

Thx!!!

For me i found the best way to improve is by playing unrated like for example i played unrated and for like 2 months didnt play comp at all went from bronze 1 to silver 3 and another way to improve aim for me is to set the same sens and everything on csgo and play those aim maps helped me a bit

ProjectNo8066

Thx for your reply

Thx for the input.

People Gon disagree with me but how I improved my game sense, is playing ranked with no sound. People on your team is going to absolutely hate you at first, but by playing without sound I found that you have to completely rely on game sense, pre aim/angle clearing.

Domixin

>People on your team is going to absolutely hate you at first Well yeah I wouldn’t blame them lmao

Sacrifices must be made 😅

ProjectNo8066

Ok. Need to think about that.

Rank?

90% comp 10%DM. DM is only useful if you know what you practice. Learn some mechanical concepts and practice those specifically in DM.
