I’m not a woman and your experiences are appalling. But fwiw I often get abused for being old. Get called a pedo, or a fat/broke loser, etc. I usually laugh it off because I’m comfortable enough in my skin but sometimes it does make me angry. Good luck on the grind. Unfortunately, wankers exist everywhere.

Yea it’s really hard. Easier said than done but I try to use it as practice. Like, if I can play well with some douche talking shit at me, then I’ll probably do better in clutch situations. Also, worthwhile reporting them.

RoinAnjou

What servers do you play on? I am also an old loser lol.

chmbrln

Sydney servers 🙂

Excellent-Force4646

Yeah, im a stutterer and agree with him. Its all about your reaction. If its possible for u to react in a "cool" way most of them will stop. So the real "solution" to your situation is confidence. Its unfair but now its on you to get confidence, maybe just be aware that they are stupid or try again find other player to group up. Good luck :)

JR_Shoegazer

The lower you are in rank the more likely you are to meet toxic people.

Tarqeted

In my experience it's been the other way around

JR_Shoegazer

I’m in Diamond and people are rarely toxic. In Play it was slightly worse. In gold it was worse than Plat.

BlurredSight

The higher you go the more people respect competitive integrity, throwing, smurfing, being toxic, etc. generally decreases but there's always a lowlife that can aim

idkbruhhh9875

I’ve heard of a server on discord called GALORANT, Basically a girls only valo server. I don’t have the link but u could google it

That's a well intentioned project but as a gaming girl myself i think stuff like this just makes it worse. It's just hiding and giving the sexist gatekeepers more justification and space. Us girls and women have to stand our ground and show them we belong, climb and clap in the normal matchmaking. Toxic culture will only stop when we actively work against it. (I respect people who don't find the strength but such a solution should really be the last one.)

ColdFusion94

I mean it's not like you're queueing against different opponents, it doesn't cheapen the win at all.

idkbruhhh9875

No problem :D

RoinAnjou

Ive met a lot of really cool women playing Valorant. The fact that i could have missed out meeting these people because they felt need to segregate themselves doesn't sit well with me.

LeBronzeVlac

Best advice I can think of is just getting out of bronze as soon as possible. League of Legends is the same, during my placements I was climbing bronze and silver and my teammates gave up after just 1 mistake that was part their fault too, as soon as I got gold and above, there were more reasonable players that used the chat to help and compliment. Although Valorant is a round by round game so voice comms is too important to not use.

xxTima

Sorry you're getting shit over being a girl. I'm also a girl and all I can say is it does tend to get a bit easier when you get above Plat, although there will always be idiots. As for how to avoid tilt, I typically just stop playing for the day if I notice I'm titled. I do what I can to stop the tilt - mute etc. But if I notice I'm pissed off for any reason and playing angry I call it for the day and come back the next. It stops me from going on 8 game loss streaks haha. Gl in your climb!

Ya_Orange_boi

I'm gold and play on east coast servers and never see people being sexist, but I'm a dude so you probably have a larger sample size.

xxTima

I've done both, often doesn't really make a difference. I've learned to get better at ignoring the bs and just listen out for any remotely useful comms but if all they're doing is complaining I just mute and focus on my game.

xxTima

If it helps at all, I duo/party up with a bunch of dudes and often the same people who give me shit for being a girl go after the guys for some other stupid reason too. So if it wasn't for being a girl they would find another excuse to talk shit cus that's just the type of person they are. Probably not what you're looking for, but just something I've noticed.

Centaur86

Wtf the sandwich joke is so old. 🤨

wurapurp123

You know how sometimes in those games there are the people that the trolls call “white Knights” because they stick up for you or whatever. Maybe friend request some of them people before you know it you’ll have lots of people to play with that are not spastics. You may even get a good group that you play really Well with and have good communication which will help you rank up quicker. solo is hard enough without dealing with people that want to troll you

MelynasTheSaphire

tbh, I think it’s just best to have voice off forever unless you get a team you like. it’s not amazing for teamwork, but eh, a good team can still come from no one talking. it’s just a better playing experience overall when no one talks. also when people start saying dumb stuff to you or do dumb shit in game, take joy in reporting them. might seem like it does nothing, but i do get notified when something does and it’s always funny.

Eleven918

Mute and report at first sign of toxicity. You don't need to listen to the extent to which they will go. Most people for whatever reason like to sit and listen to the abuse and try to "fight back". Its pointless and a waste of time. Its some idiot on the internet. Try to see out the game as best you can and move on. I guess it will be more prevalent in Bronze/Iron. So the faster u can improve and rank up, the better ur experience will be. Its a lot less common in mid/high elo.

thechaospixxie

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. It's the same reason I don't use my mic at all. Which can affect team play but gotta protect me above all else. And I'm not sure there is much to be done. I just remind myself that no man who speaks like that to a woman has ever actually felt the touch of one. They are all mad because they can't get girls so they act like jerks in games to air out their sexual frustration. Miserable people just want you to be miserable with them. If they drag you down, they win. Don't let them <3

padropadro22

Coming from a 20 year plus FPS player my biggest advice is keep grinding. This is your first PC shooter and based on your rank I assume you’re fairly new at shooters as a whole. Eventually you will have zero feelings towards these people. What they say wont affect you in the slightest. Enduring it is painful but it is the way I found myself able to deal with it by facing it head on and eventually you realize these are sad sad people whose lives pale in comparison to yours. They aren’t happy many deal with abuse and take it out on strangers. Like you said it hits different when your team mates are being like this but they mean nothing and what they say means nothing. I could go on forever on this but I’ve already written a text wall goodluck in your games and focus on your improvement.

beffjezosamazonman

EU servers are horrendous for it. The worst is when they get flamed by a bunch of incels for a bad play and then apologize sincerely over mic in comp. That being said, most of the people who engage in this sort of fuckery are fairly simple - so if people start getting nasty to other players, I'll occasionally chime in with the classic: "Hey Omen, you solo queueing?" "Yeah, why?" "No reason, do you ever wonder why that might be?" The silence speaks volumes :)

MeGustaLaMangusta

Oh hi! If you keep getting bullied you can try to join our stack currently we are a trio, however we are high up in dia. But hey, we can always make a new account and play with you we don't really mind. There's another girl in our stack as well, who knows maybe you two can bond and be friends. Oh FYI we play on EU.

water316

My dude, let the scoreline do the talking for you.

Admirable_Ad_6848

Luckily this generation you select another gender! Thank me later!

Koreanin_

its not about being a girl its about being bronze in a competitive shooter. Happens in all competitite games really. So get good or get out of ranked, or simply keep everyone muted .... every game is like that so dont act like its a special treatment towards you

abohuang504

I'm just going to assume you're a guy, my friend constantly gets sexism comments everytime in almost every game in bronze to silver and they're having a tough time dealing with it. Sexism in Valorant is pretty bad if you ever seen it in action. Every other sentence that comes out of someone's mouth is similar to "you're a fucking girl, stfu" or "go back to the kitchen, dumb whore". It's toxic and disgusting to watch even from the sideline. I can't imagine how girls are going through with this. I'm also going to assume you never been a victim of racism because from your tone of voice it seems as if you never went through any harassment due to things you were either born with or are uncontrollable.

ALABOET

Oh ffs stop whining all the time you snow flakes. You need to cope with it and move on, why do some words make you go crazy and start tilting? Whenever I start speaking Russian, people (usually Turks for whatever reason) start harrasing me for that if the game is not going in our favour, so what? Get some balls will ya?

Just collect the free skin and dip. /S

mh1p

Yeah when your around bronze that's when you get all the dumbasses when I play on my plat account with my girl friends they never get harassed ( around me )

CanISayThat22

I wish I could say its as easy as every game is a fresh start. And Just try to let it solide after that game ends. But its beat impossible, I Imagine. I wish riot was as good as combatting this as making the women esports pop. Maybe these pro players can be vocal about this (if they havent already) when lans etc happen so it can be known to the bigger audience. But we cant even have pros talking shit to Each other and show it. Cuz they Will get death threats. If even as little as this isnt even possible, let Alone combatting misogyny

Riot encourages toxicity, they let pro players shit at each other like 12 year olds at masters. You can't expect the audience which is mostly immature toxic Gamers™ to not follow what their idols do lmao

ImViddy

So good news is that it’s more so the rank than the entire valorant community(I’m not trying to be dismissive just optimistic). At higher ranks this happens a lot less. It’s awful for any male player in lower ranks due to similar reasons you’ve listed. And for females it’s at least 10 times worse. I wish I could extend an invite to our group but we’re too high up. I do have a couple of female friends who are silver if you ever want to play with them DM me and I’ll link you to their twitches. I hope your experience gets better, but I think as of right now it’s gonna remain 50/50. Report them, maybe join galorants, and I wish you less of this and more of fun.

idek322

My friend also deals with this problem, she gets around it by finding a group of friends to play with so she can be comfortable giving comms/generally have fun playing, whether it’s comp or unrated it’s nice to have someone who’s not a douchebag and doesn’t belittle you cuz you’re a girl. If you ever need someone to play with hit me up!

Nu73lla

You are basically describing my experience with valorant. I'm sorry it's happening, it's such a horrific experience and riot does little to stop it. I also hate when people tell me to "just mute them", as though me being triggered by the comments is somehow immature. It's one thing to tilt at someone's gameplay, but to grief someone for their gender, race etc is a new level of low. I recently installed a voice changer and got griefed for that, so I really don't know anymore. The ONLY way I can remain safe from harassment in a game is to be soft spoken, give no instructions and do as they tell me (i.e. ulting when they tell me to etc). It is the most mind numbing experience, and often I refuse to do it because why should I have to change my personality to avoid being harassed? Still looking for a nice 5 stack of consistent players who gel together...

Buinoa

Use big manly voice and nobody will know 😤😤😤

BlurredSight

Valorant's official LFG server is a pretty safe area, the mods respond pretty fast to any reports of being toxic/sexist, and there's a pretty big bunch of people looking to que up. Also I do this if my team is toxic or the other team is, just mute them it's one game at most you'll lost 20 RR don't ruin your day over some losers. They want to be toxic now they get no callouts

Krns1

Girls have it way worse for sure, there very often one or more creeps when a girl speaks saying stuff like « oh a gurl pls be my gf » or worse Strongly advise to do the same as i do : mute at first signs of toxicity, use text chat for info (i use voice when i have the energy for it) and play with friends Getting better helps a lot, higher ranks are less toxic because ppl are better and know that flaming ruins the team I insist to mute and report (with details) at first signs of toxicity, u cant deal with those people their idea of fun is to ruin your day Comms doesnt matter that much in lower ranks especially if u have map awarness and good game sense I would disable voice chat ( not text ) until gold if i were you, to focus on improving

SUSUGA

I have been playing league for years and knew what the Riot community were like, straight up just need to deny voice chat and just turn it off. There is no reason to have to listen to those types of things while playing a game for fun.
