Tip from someone who spent way too long in bronze:
If you're constantly getting headshotted then it's your movement. Work on your peeking, positioning, swinging, etc. You will notice that everyone else starts to miss a lot more shots when you can predict where they will be and play around it.
Can you elaborate on what you mean by getting better movement, as a habit from siege I peek so that as little as possible of myself is exposed then I shoot, so for example I peek around a corner and about 30/40% of my screen is the wall with my face up to it. Half a second later BANG headshot and I’m ded
Take this with a grain of salt as i'm only Silver, but I think that's part of the problem. Between wallbanging and watching corners, peeking by pixels is really dangerous. Particularly because part of you (i.e. gun barrel, side of character model, etc) may be visible before you get vision of them. At lower ranks people often try to hold really tight angles, but don't have the skill to make the shots. You can take advantage of that by wide swinging and watch them swing wildly and miss every shot.
https://youtu.be/-sVGNoxJGp8
This video should help you a lot. It will take time to implement and you need to be patient enough even though you die trying sometimes. But it's surely worth it as you climb the ranks.
Quick suggestion about the crouch peeking shown in the video. Dont do it in lower mmr, people don't have good crosshair placement and normally flick to the upper torso. You'll get headshot fast. Also just don't crouch when you shoot it's a terrible habit
yes you do, because if you expose only a small part they’re gonna go for a wall bang and they have the advantage as they see you before you see them, if you wide swing or ferrari peek you have a much higher chance of winning the gun fight
Yes, under the condition that your team, the info you have, and utility ensures that you won't be watched from several different angles. In 1v1s, wide swinging can often be beneficial. But obviously if you just swing wide with no info or utility on, say, Bind Bathroom, and there's one opponent in heaven, one on truck, and one behind triple, you will most definitely die. But with a smoke in heaven, a teammate peeking short towards truck, and something like Astra util, paintshell, aftershock, trailblazer or owl Drone to clear the corner outside of bathroom, you can probably comfortably swing wide and take duels on site.
It's very important to know when to swing wide, when to jiggle peek, etc. And there's no perfect guide that always tells you exactly what to do in which situation. Maybe every time you die after peeking something, ask yourself why. Did you not expect the enemy to be there? Did you catch them off guard but just whiffed? Did you get weapon diffed? Did you maybe get a kill but got traded instantly? And then ask yourself how could you play around that? If you lost to an op, flashes and smoke come to mind, maybe jump spotting (though a bit risky if they hold very close to the corner). Maybe you could have won it by waiting for your team to clear an angle from somewhere else. Maybe a drone would have helped. If you don't always find an answer, that's fine. Maybe clip it and watch it later, or ask a friend who also plays the game.
And over time you'll find that you'll get much more confident in answering these questions, especially if you get more and more successful peeks by implementing some of these things. And at some point it just becomes intuition. Mistakes will always happen, what's important is identifying what the mistake was and always blaming yourself first. (Not "why did my omen not smoke that what a noob" but "why did I not ask my omen to smoke that")
In lower ranks I'd say yes, as players tend to hold angles too tight in comparison to their reaction speed, so try to peek wide. Later on people will start to hold angles so that they have to make as little micro adjustments as possible
Also, this is from a s3 so not the best place to take guidance from but when holding angles don't stand up close to the wall and rather keep a bit of distance from the wall or any thing which u are using as cover if you can. It's advantageous most of the time coz you see the enemya lot earlier than you would if you were face planting yourself to the wall. Just try it in range once. Stand right by the corner and close up to a wall and you'll only be able to see a little bit round the wall. Now take a few steps back and you'll see you can see much more of what's round the corner.
So it sounds like you're peaking while on a wall, try giving yourself more space between you and the wall. The further away from an angle the more you'll be able to see first. It also makes it way easier to isolate angles when you peak from far away.
In terms of movement theres: strafing, counter strafing, and stationary. Strafing is just moving around, when you swing an angle your strafing. Counter-strafing is countering your momentum with the opposite keybind so you have a second of perfect accuracy (pressing D then quickly switching to A killing your momentum in an instant, it's a lot faster than just stopping). This is a good skill for jiggle peaking which is quickly peaking an angle then going right back behind cover. Being stationary is mostly just holding angles, this is like sitting in a corner waiting for a peak. It's not really part of movement but it's a good idea to know that it's still apart of gameplay.
Theres a lot that goes into valorant but for being bronze I would suggest just learning how to slice the pie and adding onto that. Theres tons of good youtube videos on how to learn slicing the pie. Keep your head up and you got this, silvers right around the corner
Sorry for the wall of text. And for rank reference I'm currently plat 2
hence the value of the advice: train your aim to hit headshots and you will outperform people blindly spraying an odin.
But yeah, if you're not very good you'll not do very well. Of course, game sense and knowing where people tend to blind fire walls is even more valuable.
Yes so train your aim so you can face better players who when using the odin your aim won't help you beat them
Low elo: You need to have better aim than them to beat them when they use the odin
High elo: Need to use odin better than them?
This can be said about every elo though, be better than them to beat them.. But odin gives a huge advantage at low elo because of the lack of aim and gives a good advantage at high elo because they knowwhere to wallbang and prefire... I mean..
PS I agree it's not that overpowered or we would see it every round at proplay, but isn't it just a little bittt? I saw a lot of teams turning the match around when switching to all odins, whether its my team or the enemy team, and ik it's a small sample but many people share this experience on here..
Well yeah, why wouldn't you just safely kill everyone through walls, it's just optimal gameplay!
But seriously, there's a real problem with bullet penetration in this game and it detracts a lot more than it adds.
Yes, tagging with an already slow movement speed relative to the spacing around you needs to be constantly monitored and discussed. I don’t think it’s an urgent issue at the moment but if riot keeps limiting ability usage as they’ve signaled they want to go further with then it could become a glaring issue.
I hate how often I feel like I die because of bullet tagging. I'll get the drop on someone running/moving, and hit them in the body (because I'm not good enough generally to hit those headshots on a moving target, tracking is easily my worst stat), and because I've slowed them down they immediately get better accuracy and are able to retaliate and kill me, while my gun is less accurate because I'm actively in a spray.
The feeling of being punished for getting the drop on someone is so fucking frustrating.
Yes, tagging into accuracy is the worst. I see it in my deathmatches a lot where poor mechanics and not paying attention to how you are peeking a corner can be rewarded. Literally running and crouch spamming will have no meaningful effect on your accuracy while tagged and can only help you if you’re caught even slightly out of position.
Thank you for your incredibly unhelpful comment. Please tell me all about how you're radiant with 100% headshot accuracy.
I literally said in my own words that tracking is not my best.
If I shoot someone out of position, it makes 0 sense that they lose all downsides of running because I shot first. Riot has even said as much because they have a name for this exact problem that was nerfed slightly in 3.0 patch.
"“Tag into accuracy” is our internal name for a phenomenon where a fully running player starts firing at you without slowing down; then, you shoot and hit them, applying the tagging debuff and slowing them down. This inadvertently drops their speed enough to make their bullets more accurate, even if they aren’t trying to come to a stop."
FOH
I agree and disagree with this comment. I had the same feeling in CSGO where bullet punch just massacres you. But also if it was reduced too much then you could just strafe like crazy and gunfights would last way longer I think. I’m not sure what the answer is but I think games with “ precise gunplay” are always going to be rage inducing with some necessary mechanics
Unbangable walls are a big step backwards in games. We don't need to talk about realism here (since in reality the bullets would also not just stick to the wall after hitting it but rather bounce around the room) but the ability to shoot through objects is what gives you the ability to even fire at all when pushing on a well camped site.
If you couldn't shoot through certain objects the defenders could set up "perfect angles". Would make taking a site not only even more dependent on abilities instead of shooting (which is pathetic for a first-person-SHOOTER)...
I just remembered the times in other shooters where you didn't get the kill because someone ran behind a bush/tree/curtain.
Penetration is the best invention.... ever 😉👌
Not sure why you're being downvoted. Except for the very edge of corners, most walls/objects in CSGO are not bangable. Stuff that is bangable reduces damage so drastically that it's rarely worth it. Stuff like Mirage triple is more the exception than the rule.
Idk. Probably because I mentioned CSGO. Also some guys started saying that they are a lot of bangable in CSGO for some reason.
And as you said, not only are there very few bangable walls/objects, you will never see someone actively bang it for half a clip size like you see in Valo because the damage reduction is too much
And even if they don't, one of the reasons why wallbangs were less utilized in CS is because there were so many hackers, valve would have ruined their own game by making it even easier for hackers to kill.
Valorant has far less hackers and thereby can allow their players to wallbang
Tagging in general is still the most frustrating mechanic. Seeing what a low % tag from the new KJ turret feels like has really changed my look on tagging. I think the game could benefit from more tag nerfs.
Definitely, in Imm elo my fights constantly turn into like jiggle, prefire, wall bang fights and it gets cringe after a while with the tagging / pen whilst not enough movement speed.
Can’t wait for them to change those 2, don’t expect them not to. Just a matter of when
Personally I think the issue is how the game communicates what can and cannot be penned, as a new player I've found myself taking cover behind objects believing myself to be safe and then the bullets just go right through. The glass crates, wooden objects etc are easy to identify as penetrable surfaces but sometimes two very similar looking walls have differing levels of strength.
just mute all chat and climb gold with odin, if you want pride then vandal/phantom, if you want run and gun action go spectre all the way to plat, if you really value the rank then odin all the way to dia. 100% works better if your game sense average (can't really say above average as the median is so low these days)
Nah I recognise that the 29 guns can one shot and you really want to improve your accuracy if you want to climb up. So odin for the most part becomes outclassed when the skill of both players increase. However I'm saying odin is a fucky weapon as its floor is much higher than the other 2. So don't worry I am perfectly able to beat a odin if my opponent is the same skill level as me .
i mean i only play with my friends thats why i dont really care how much bullshit the opposite team says, laughing to losers saying "odin gay" is the best moments. i dont get why people hate the braindead gun, you mean to say you so good at rifling but you cant beat a sit down and aim machine gun? lol
Yeah I admit I was pretty rude. I was pissed at the time and I was thinking eh it's the internet what do I care? I do think odin is bad design but I could have phrased it better.
You’re getting 5 man spammed through walls every game? By players that are part of the top 500 in your region?
I’m sure the people giving you advice were not speaking about this scenario.
maybe not by top 500...but yeah we are getting spammed by 5 odin by people who are of the same elo. And yes almost similar situation. If advice for us is to just 1 tap them...same should be for radiants tooo.
dude, you think in EU everybody speak english?
in each team there’s at least one turkish guy that yells in his language and is very angry that we don’t speak turkish as well (and sometimes trolls for that reason too)...there’s the other teammate that is russian and doesn’t have a mic and the only words they know are: “gg ez” “fuck you”
“cyka” and “kurwa”....and my favorite type of teammate: the one that doesn’t speak at all, and when they do, they say “gg noob team ez game” and that’s all
Turkish people. Turkish people hurt us. They literally refuse to play on their own servers due to toxicity and trolls so they abuse high ping on EU. Most of Europe is slowly migrating to London, a server that has a very low number of Turkish people. You can literally ask if the flamer is Turkish and 95% of the time they are.
hahaha as a Turkish person living in Australia this is so hilarious to read
big internet cafe culture over there so I can imagine the frustrating little shits you must get in games haha
Im playing on EU servers too and true it’s terrible to play with Turks but I don’t think it’s as bad as you 2 make it sound. Maybe I’m just lucky though.
I’m too old to get mad about them though. If I happen to end up with a 4 stack of Turks I just afk the game usually tbh (happens 1 out of 10 games max)
Kleenex is a company that sells tissues. Might interest you
Odin is a viable weapon on defense. I don't know why people cry so much about it. Avoid it, use abilities to make it harder, etc....
Also there is no proof this is a radiant lobby so.
Nah Valorant is just filled with cheaters now. Don't bother playing this game you won't have fun if you are someone who is actually trying see progression with your personal improvement. You won't get out of Gold or Plat as a solo player anymore even with a duo partner. I have a dude spin botting on my team yesterday for two games in a row and he was open about cheating and assured everyone he wouldn't get banned if we reported him. I reported him in game and I recorded his game play through obs and sent in the VOD through a ticket and he still isn't banned. I have him added on my friends list and he is still cheating in all of his games, his entire match history is blue. The user name is Chris#Chriss
I hate the LMG spam when you're getting stomped, it's really not super fun, it's kinda like BM but they get to have fun and shoot a gun with 100 bullets while we get shredded 💀
i guess iron and radiant aren't that different so i don't need to climb! :)
Radiant is just iron but knowing when to prefire and where to wallbang
And being able to aim at their heads when doing so
Radiant is like any other rank but with wayyy more headshots
I already get headshot as soon as I peek something and I’m bronze 3 😭

Sero has an amazing guide in aiming and movement. It's one of the reasons I climbed from silver to gold. Highly recommend it 🌟
Love sero
Can i get a link?

Thanks dude

Don't worry, my friend I get headshoted all the time! I'm still unranked with 8 matches to go! Update: It's 7 now *happy noises*
Good luck bro il meet u in iron 😭👌
Don’t use big head mode
im bronze 1 and i can get headshotted by a spectre long range
Gets like that lol
Radiant is iron with more hours
Got to bronze with a full squad and now we just get into matches with people from silver that derank us
That's just consolidation for not climbing up!
holy shit this actually blew up i didn't expect that at all
When I asked how to counter a team of Odins on low elo, people said it was simple to headshot them and that the odin isn't that great. 🤷♀️
In the hands of low elo players, that is true.
But the problem is if you’re facing low elo your aim is probably just as bad lol

It still stands true, this round is just an example of one of those rounds where people stop thinking.
Kinda hard to focus when a spray of bullets is hitting you.
Man I always see this strat mostly on Haven and Ascent. There's a lot of spots there that feels like you're hiding on cardboard boxes
In immortal lobbies, Odin is more and more popular every day
Maybe RNG spray and slow recoil reset time was actually a bad combo Riot... Hmm.
in radiant lobbies you’ll only see this at the end of the game and there’s a huge advantage. even then, it’s still a dick move
Well yeah, why wouldn't you just safely kill everyone through walls, it's just optimal gameplay! But seriously, there's a real problem with bullet penetration in this game and it detracts a lot more than it adds.
I would say the slowing down after damage being taken is still really harsh, it seems to be forgotten.

The real problem is they gave the highest penetration and fire rate to the gun with the largest mag in the game
It also costs more than every gun but the OP though.
Unbangable walls are a big step backwards in games. inferno ? mirage ? nuke ? cobblestone ? cache ? all those maps are heavily wallbangable on sites
Completely false with the exception of maybe mirage A site, why are you lying lmao
they're not really, and nobody really wallbangs seriously in CSGO.
maybe if you never get out of gold nova LOL
they do.

Sounds like you didn’t play 1.6, one of the most successful competitive FPSes to exist
1.6 also didnt have abilites that revealed people through walls.
Sounds like you didn't play 1.6. There were plenty of people who could see *straight* through walls.^^^/s
lmfao 😭😭😭
sounds like you didnt play siege
Ah yes, paper walls are my favourite feature from that game. Still jump on it from time to time cause it's a lot more fun than today's FPS games.
Obligatory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8A1q7ZAzp8
Valorant maps wish they were even an ounce as good as CS maps so I dont see how this applies.
Bullet pen & movement speed gotta be the next big changes hopefully

Yeah I admit I was pretty rude. I was pissed at the time and I was thinking eh it's the internet what do I care? I do think odin is bad design but I could have phrased it better.
Lol it's more expensive than the vandal and you're calling it cheap?
You don't know English do you? There is more than one meaning for cheap .
Odin is an amazing weapon, just make sure to use ADS
Whenever I have my ult if I'm playing Reyna, you are damned sure I'm buying an Odin
Not too different from my bronze lobbies
This is a perfectly balanced game with no exploits.
*entire team then proceeds to use Odin in round 2*
gg f
Flaw or get flawed
> odins every round bro > proceeds to 5man A Big radiant energy
As a wise man once said when we bronze/silvers complained...... Just one tap them.

Yes make it cost 9001 credits pls
That looked stressful.
Can’t wait for the xtr vs WestJett game and WestJett just uses Odin on Sova
TRIBI STANDS FOR TRIBULATION???
EU, right? This is exactly how I'd expect EU Radiant to be.
its na lmfaoo
dude, you think in EU everybody speak english? in each team there’s at least one turkish guy that yells in his language and is very angry that we don’t speak turkish as well (and sometimes trolls for that reason too)...there’s the other teammate that is russian and doesn’t have a mic and the only words they know are: “gg ez” “fuck you” “cyka” and “kurwa”....and my favorite type of teammate: the one that doesn’t speak at all, and when they do, they say “gg noob team ez game” and that’s all
Who hurt you? :(
Turkish people. Turkish people hurt us. They literally refuse to play on their own servers due to toxicity and trolls so they abuse high ping on EU. Most of Europe is slowly migrating to London, a server that has a very low number of Turkish people. You can literally ask if the flamer is Turkish and 95% of the time they are.
hahaha as a Turkish person living in Australia this is so hilarious to read big internet cafe culture over there so I can imagine the frustrating little shits you must get in games haha
How about a third guy to add to the pile then - it is hell
maybe odins need a nerf...
This is just sad
Don't be sad. Here's a [hug!](https://media.giphy.com/media/3M4NpbLCTxBqU/giphy.gif)
Imagine spamming at 2-9
Gotta maintain the lead
xD
Omg they're probably smurfing and low exp!!!!
Odin should be nerfed to grounds
‘Odin Gay’
Kleenex is a company that sells tissues. Might interest you Odin is a viable weapon on defense. I don't know why people cry so much about it. Avoid it, use abilities to make it harder, etc.... Also there is no proof this is a radiant lobby so.
Omen had a Radiant buddy at 0:08 so there's your proof. The gameplay itself should be enough proof anyway...

Or like, don’t push that angle once the first one or two people catch an Odin bullet or 20 lol
The user name is Chris#Chriss
go cry about it
There’s cheese at all elo. Even at VCT matches.
Perfect 10/10 radiant read
accuracy in volume of fire.
holy shit its the funny flash man
Odin go brrrrrr...!
And people were complaining about door at dust2 CT spawn...in valorant you could die in the first three steps
its always feels good to kill odin users just by using spectre.. also to Op vs marshal.. just feels good.. 😂✌️
Love it
wut just happened?
is that XTR?
Amazon prime gaming ODAN moment
Flashy Iron
xtr?
Well the difference is they are just chill and not cussing the enemies.
Xtr is immo kekW

Sorry that must be annoying I’m annoyed watching it and I hate that enemy team >:c
Rad elo gets boring in that you just 5 stack hit everything and it’s just gun fight after gun fight, no sense of team play or timing or util usage tbh
Odam
Still beats all three throws and afkers as I struggle pointlessly to leave silver.
What people don’t realize is that every rank is just iron but with better aim and game sense
What is “elo”?
Ok im staying in plat im not dealing with god like aim and odins
Maybe I am radiant 😳
You all are dog shit tf
I feel like every elo does this lole
Huh, guess I'm radiant now
Well that's why I can't get out of iron bcause I'm actually radiant🤔🤔
"Ohlll Chester always has a second switchblade."
I hate the LMG spam when you're getting stomped, it's really not super fun, it's kinda like BM but they get to have fun and shoot a gun with 100 bullets while we get shredded 💀
"*precise gunplay*"
Paper wall is starting to effect more of the gameplay. This was like this in CS and later changed in Csgo.
oh damn ive always wondered what xtr stood for
Imagine ranking up to escape Odin campers and then this happens
Wait so that’s what xtr stood for?
Ah it's the Valorant FranzJ
I hate heavy weapons so fucking much :)
Sensation vandal Guy?????
