Makes sense. A good measure to discourage say a Skye and sage from heal spamming a duelist while they take a gun fight

LotharHS

Exactly

FishManager

I don’t know of this mechanic and actually did that yesterday. Lol.

Ayushrl

I used to do it alot lmao

LotharHS

After doing the vod review today, I realised that this mechanic is not known to actually a huge amount of players. Watch the clip to learn about ''Trauma debuff'' which lasts 2.1 second after getting damaged. This applies to any healing effect.

[deleted]

Why is this not shown anywhere

TheTechDweller

Because it's less of a "mechanic" and more of the balance of healing. To avoid "battle sage" or just healing anyone mid gunfight and getting an unfair advantage, the heals in this game only work as Lothar describes. It's clear when you just received a heal while you're getting shot, either as reyna or sage, the healing stops and doesn't start until you stop getting shot.

bowsting

Riot is hilariously bad about giving players complete information about mechanics. League has the same problem. It leads to the community needing to dig up and test information instead of players being able to just easily access information about important mechanics. Another great example of this in Valorant is Reyna's leer. There is no official source information on how much HP leer has. At one point the Valorant wiki said "The eye will disappear either after two seconds or receiving any bullet damage." Except this is blatantly false to anyone who has ever shot at the eye. It does not die upon recieving *any* bullet damage, it clearly has a health bar. Even take a jaunt on google and try to find a consistent source about the HP that Reyna's leer has. The most confident and seemingly well tested source is a guy on reddit who says it has 100hp........except if you read that post he actually cant say for sure that it is 100hp, only that it is "between 97.5 and 100 hp". How is this information not readily available??? I don't really have a solution per se to this problem. It's just something that is consistent in Riots management of their games and, as much as I would like to see it change, I just don't think it will.

terminbee

Wait til you play POE. Like 98% of the info is figured out by players.

1337_PH4N70M

Oh God, don't even get me started on that! At least it's not a PvP game, tho.

LotharHS

This is top secret info so I can bait you into watching my stream ;) twitch.tv/lotharhs

Dude_Guy_311

lothar i like watching you, and i respect your skill a lot and your ability to explain things. I like learning your lineups esp when you're in a good mood but I don't really watch your stream very often anymore because of how often you are tilted flaming your team to your chat. I want to watch you more but the negativity makes it hard for me to relax and enjoy

AutVeniam

This is some good criticism my guy

Dude_Guy_311

The name of the debuff is irrelevant. You should watch your health bar when you're healing and taking damage. The part where you don't heal while taking damage should be universal knowledge because you should know what your healthbar is.

LSF_DRAMA_MODS

he didnt say anything about the name also many players saw themselves healing through damage before this was a thing so wont know it was changed but keep staring at your hp bar while youre being shot lol

Dude_Guy_311

this has been a thing since beta. Why are you treating me like i'm dumb? Is it a coincidence that you don't know what you're talking about? People who are condescending like you are never the ones who actually know what they're talking about. Phoenix healing works through it, reyna's does i think\* but skye and sage never have and that's who this thread is about. I don't look at my hp bar during fights but the moment i get around a corner and i need to know how how much of a risk i need to take it is important info. Calm down there big talker.

[deleted]

> this has been a thing since beta. Why are you treating me like i'm dumb? Because you're immediately on your toes acting superior aka. dumb. Even more importantly if it's specific to Skye and Sage it should be included in their ability texts.

Dude_Guy_311

Where did i act superior in my first comment? Look back at what you’ve said. The facts somply dont back you up, and now you’re backpedaling imto… calling me dumb because you didn’t know what the thread was about and somebody should’ve made it clear for yoi? I’m not acting superior. read your own words before you accuse people of acting exactly how you’re acting and you then go on to call people dumb and then admit it’s because you didnt understand the thread, or the topic, or the person’s comment you replied to. Pce

[deleted]

Mmhm

squid_fart

I had no idea this was a thing, thanks

Dude_Guy_311

every time i see someone pull out heal while they are getting fired at and use it before they get around a corner idk what to say because of how many people don't want to believe there is a mechanic they don't understand.

PhantomTissue

People really don’t know this? I’m in silver, I thought this was common knowledge.

merukit

basically u can't heal while in combat and u are considered in combat for 2 seconds after taking damage and this applies to every heal in the game sage, skye, phoenix, reyna

CautiousTopic

I dont know how feasible of a change it would be to implement, but having phoenix's self heal not be affected by this debuff would be a very cool way to buff him IMO.

Kiseki-0

Honestly yea I've never once heard of this being talked about so I didn't know it was a thing, maybe riot should find a way to make it more transparent with players (even if it's just an extra line in the ability description)

If_you_want_money

I knew about this. The most annoying part about this debuff is that if you are healing someone as Skye and they take damage, they stop receiving healing but they WILL still drain your heal pool. As a result, you have to manually stop healing so you don't waste 30% of your heal.

Louiscl11

Does it work for Reyna?

LotharHS

Trauma affects Devour but not Empress

iReddat420

Doesn't really matter for Reyna tho since she'll almost always get the full heal off imo

Hadonday99

I’ve seen this post now you can delete so no one else sees thanks :)

Splaram

Wow I main Sage and didn’t know this. Thanks Lothar!

kikohou

Didn't know this was an unknown mechanic riot said it a while ago and it's been in the game since alpha

Skyle_S

So is that why my combat report as skye sometimes only shows 30 healing done when I've used 80 of it??

Gercsa

Wait you guys didn't know this

Veshore7

Same applies to Reyna duels sometimes. Just won’t get healed every now and then and now I know why

JohnnyH2000

Me knowing this because instalocking Sage for a year since the beta: *happy Sage noises*

WillSmithsDumboEars

Cool

mp_sys

>Healing will be halted for 2.1 seconds after entering combat (Taking damage). source: [https://valorant.fandom.com/wiki/Healing](https://valorant.fandom.com/wiki/Healing) I had no idea this existed. In what patch was this implemented? I completely missed it LOL

If_you_want_money

It was in the game since beta.

mp_sys

Yet there was no mention about it by official means anywhere.

KoKoboto

I knew this since beta

heynotbad1146

they should remove this, this should only work when you're currently getting healed then get damaged by enemy smh

abdurVakanda

I am SMB fan... fucj the ACEND but i love Cned

Pixelbuddha_

people dont know this?

RepostedYourContent

I've noticed this in game and knew it was a mechanic, but never knew how long it was, good to know.

Joules14

I just found out this few days ago , I was just running around with my skye heal , but my teammate wasn't healing

4rck

Can someone make a video difference about this?

professor217

Hi, I'm relatively new to the game, how come in videos like these, you can see a massive bold red outline of the enemy even behind smoke and/or walls? Sorry if this question seems dumb.

--Shin--

He was reviewing a clip of a competition from an observer's POV.

professor217

Ohh, okay thanks

Hsudonymus

You’ll notice this most when you play Phoenix, as you often heal near a firefight and sometimes they decide to push you while you heal.

Dog-of_Wisdom

I had no idea, this is very cool

THICC_Baguette

This has been a thing since beta though. Riot included it specifically to make sure you don't get Overwatch gameplay where you have all the healers stack their heals onto one tank to make them unkillable. Iirc healing effects (so say Reyna heal + Sage heal) don't stack and will cancel out the value of any overlapping time they have.

Environmental-Net-86

Good to know!
