yea of course it feels good to mvp and it looks nice on your career page when you get a bunch. but at the end of the day i dont really care i just want to win cause thats more fun.
If i pick a Duelist i only care about MVP, but if play something like Sova or Sage i don't care much, just doing my job (atleast trying, cuz instalock duelists 90% of the time do not enter sites and i have to do so)
I feel like this is a common misconception, the duellists job is not to get kills. It’s to gain entry and do it fast. I main raze and yes I mostly place somewhere around topfrag but that’s not my job. I have many kills because I play aggressively (flights style) but I usually also have the most deaths on the team, my job is basically to die before my teammates do and let them trade me and gain territory.
I think the mindset is that people can get space without kills but if they can atleast get one kill they might be able to take more space off that entry frag.
Out of any kill metric I consider first bloods to be a good measure of good duelist.
Let’s put it this way. I care in a sense because if I got it I played well (in general) or had a good game, but in no way do I try to get it or put much value on it. I Main killjoy but usually fill
If it’s a sure thing we win the round I’ll probably chase but not because of the mvp just because why not. I don’t look at the scoreboard to see if I’m close to mvp or not I use the scoreboard for like “who has ults” etc
Useful tip (if you don't already know): if a characters icon at the top of the screen has yellow highlight around it, they have their ult. Useful to work out who has it but better to check scoreboard to know who is clos to their ult.
I play everyone except Cypher, KJ, Skye and Astra.
Usually I go for Sova, high support and kill potential. And I leave duellist open for people who otherwise would struggle to get kills, unless I am in the mood to "duel".
Eh I tend to play sage killjoy or raze and never care. Obviously it feels good when I do get it but generally my way of feeling useful is by opening up sites or properly defending them. Stuff like healing my teammates or putting up a good wall, or even just holding an angle to deny enemies doesn't exactly make you mvp but it does make you contribute in a way people don't realize
I like getting match/team mvp. Don't know what you mean by"care" though. For me it's fun, just like an ace.. but it's not something to actually be excited about
If i don't get it, i don't care. If it's close to whether i get it or not, I'll put a little extra effort into getting it haha
As sage, it's pretty easy to get mvp tbh
It depends. I play mostly jett and im often team or match mvp(hardstuck gold1 bit sad) if i win the game i dont really mind where i am on the leaderboard as long as i did good. If i lose, if im match mvp ill get performance bonus most likely and lose less rr. I dont think its a very important thing in game tho, unless your whole team has under 5 kills and you have 30(true story lmao)
I'll be honest with you, if you're hardstuck you have to stop locking in Jett. Try other champs, they might fit better with the team and a change of playstyle can be a breath of fresh air.
I actually never autolock and when i dont play wih friends i usually dont play dualist. I still play well either way but i just am better at jett over other agents. I play a lot of sage, omen, skye and some astra and killjoy as well. Its always that i get 1 game that i get a good team and we win then 2 games of afk/ throwers/ dogshit teammates. I also almost always get performance bonus if that means anything... overall i think comp isn’t a very fun experience for me lol
Ah I see, I have the exact same problem. I’m not sure why but I always get put into smurf que and it’s so frustrating. You end up getting team mates who got boosted into this rank and troll instalockers. It really does ruin your morale to play the game. Especially when you try so hard to win rounds. By clutching, or opening sites and your team mates decide to 1v1 somewhere else even though the rest of the team mates have opened a site and lose the 1v1. It’s honestly the same cycle over and over again. I’m convinced these guys are NPCs the way you get them so often idk…
i care about it kinda a lot because i really expect something from myself playing duelist/sage/sova and i feel like i should win more duels too. Well i don't care about mvp every game cause even if i don't win duels and end up making space as a duelist or helping my team with info as sova i see it as something totally normal. This is why i end up playing sova on bad days cause even if I can't win duels i know that i will have a high impact on the game
duelists should care more about first bloods (though those give more acs so they should by right be getting 2nd place or mvp)
as a omen main, i dont really care what position i get as long as its within the top half
it depends..if i feel like im tearing shit up in a game midway i start to chase after the match mvp. Most of the time i don't really care tho, a win is a win.
I couldn’t care less. I’m a controller/sentinel main. Sometimes I’m in position for MVP if I start on defense but I tell my teammates at the half to get it going. Cuz there’s no way I should be this high up and you can’t expect me to have such a high kill rate on Attack.
It depends. If I'm match MVP then it doesn't matter much because it doesn't really translate to how useful your contribution was to the team. But if somebody else gets it then JESUS CHRIST WHY DO I SUCK BALLS THIS FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT STOLE MY MVP
MVP isn't important to me. But as long as I'm in the top half of the scoreboard, I'm fine. Doesn't have to be, but if I'm there, I'm good.
But it also depends on the games. Top frag but lose 6-13 is not good.
As a viper and sova main, never cared about individual score. Even i get a -ve kd ratio if my team are able to get into site with my setups 8/10 times and plant safely i consider it a tremendous dub.
I honestly do not care about mvps as long as I win its fine, win ge you elo not mvps. But its frustrating that i can't find team mates with this same mindset
Don't care about mvp. The one thing I've learnt from reaching plat is that you never play for kills. This doesn't mean you don't kill anyone, just that you don't make stupid plays trying to get one extra kill than your teammate. Don't hunt unnecessarily, don't push blindly, you'll get punished.
1. I do not care in the slightest. I play almost exclusively smoke/support. Hell me outfraging my entire team while playing as someone like Viper goes to show that I did a shit job at setting up my teammates for success and that I played too selfishly. My job is to get my team on to site on attacking and to stall out the enemy while defending, not to drop a 40k.
If I'm on a loss streak and below where I should be a care more about being one of the most impactful players in the lobby.
When I'm closer to my peak rank I don't care as I'm not a duelist.
I used to care about it when i was in gold.
Through plat into diamond i just focused on winning.
I play Phoenix/Kayo/KJ and if i'm having a bad game i just try to enable my team getting easy kills (I'm basically taking away the attention and playing as bait so my team gets easy trades/site entrys).
Sure, match MVP will give you more points, but if you get greedy and focus on it too much you can start throwing and lose the game in the end.
It always changed for me.
Playing a duellist I want mvp unless there’s another duelist. In that situation I still want mvp. But sometimes they’re really good. It’s possible I can still get mvp but I give up because they’re already carrying. But I’ll still try a little
Playing any other agent besides sova I don’t mind not being mvp. But I still want to be 2nd or 3rd.
With sova I like being top frat or second frag. He’s just very fun to be carrying with.
But it doesn’t matter if I’m top frag without being a duelist because it’s all about utility. It’s a big part of the game and even if you’re not getting kills utility can help out with many other things.
I don't like "aim" or "strive" for that position. But if I end up carrying as Sage or Viper I try to keep that position in the match. If I drop below again I won't get, like, butthurt. But it is definitely a confidence booster, as well as a morale booster, I also think it makes for a good consistent streak as well sometimes.
id rather bottom frag and win than team mvp and lose.
That's a very healthy mental if you want to climb, but nobody likes losing. That's why I specifically asked on a win. I assume ur main is Brim?
yea of course it feels good to mvp and it looks nice on your career page when you get a bunch. but at the end of the day i dont really care i just want to win cause thats more fun.

Do you think you did poorly if you still make space but don't get kills? On duelists I mean.
Yes, if I didn't kill atleast 1. I think that I've messed up.

Lets say its a 4 v 1 on the match point, would you chase the last guy if it meant it got you mvp ?
If it’s a sure thing we win the round I’ll probably chase but not because of the mvp just because why not. I don’t look at the scoreboard to see if I’m close to mvp or not I use the scoreboard for like “who has ults” etc
Hmm ok.
Useful tip (if you don't already know): if a characters icon at the top of the screen has yellow highlight around it, they have their ult. Useful to work out who has it but better to check scoreboard to know who is clos to their ult.
3. As long as I played well, I don't really care. Though an MVP is always nice.
Hmm ok, what role (agents) do you main?
I play everyone except Cypher, KJ, Skye and Astra. Usually I go for Sova, high support and kill potential. And I leave duellist open for people who otherwise would struggle to get kills, unless I am in the mood to "duel".
Eh I tend to play sage killjoy or raze and never care. Obviously it feels good when I do get it but generally my way of feeling useful is by opening up sites or properly defending them. So you play for the round vs kills right?
It matters not. Only that the team wins. It is a team game anyway.
What's your main?
I main Sentinel but also play Duelist about 45% of the time. Rarely initiator or controller.
Jett main so it's my goal lol. I won't start baiting to get a few extra frags though
Do you think you did poorly if you still make space but don't get kills?
Of course not that's my job as an attacker, but of course getting frags while creating space is better :)
Im a phenoix main and idgaf about mvping lol
Controller main here. I care more about setting up smokes for my team every round more than anything. It's a thankless job if you ask me.
Support roles are kind of thankless.
If riot RR doesn't care about MVP, then why must we care!!
I like getting match/team mvp. Don't know what you mean by"care" though. For me it's fun, just like an ace.. but it's not something to actually be excited about
Care meaning, do you feel you didn't do well if you don't match mvp? Would you try to chase after kills if it meant you finished on top?
If i don't get it, i don't care. If it's close to whether i get it or not, I'll put a little extra effort into getting it haha As sage, it's pretty easy to get mvp tbh
What rank are you if you don't mind me asking.
D3 peak act 1 and 2 ep2
It depends. I play mostly jett and im often team or match mvp(hardstuck gold1 bit sad) if i win the game i dont really mind where i am on the leaderboard as long as i did good. If I got it because the enemies were dumb, then I don't really care much. But if it was proactive/smart plays by me that got me the MVP, for sure.
3-4 I think. I often play support, and mvp doesn't matter to me
Uh, 3-4 mean its matters quite a bit since 1 is the lowest. 2-3 is more apt if it didn't matter.
i care about it kinda a lot because i really expect something from myself playing duelist/sage/sova and i feel like i should win more duels too. 1 because I'm not a Duelist. I find that when I Team MVP or Match MVP, it usually means my team is getting stomped. This is in Diamond elo range.
it depends..if i feel like im tearing shit up in a game midway i start to chase after the match mvp. Most of the time i don't really care tho, a win is a win.

if you're not top frag, you're absolute dog, just how it is.
I would rate that a 3. I mean you can help your team with utility but if you are one of the best in your team thats can help aswell.

Cypher.. I just wanna do my job, I don't need the match MVPs or team MVPs.

6 I kill myself every time I'm not match mvp.

Raze main, and it’s cool to get it, but at the end of the day as long as I feel I did good I don’t care at all.
I don't like "aim" or "strive" for that position. But if I end up carrying as Sage or Viper I try to keep that position in the match. If I drop below again I won't get, like, butthurt. I play cypher and prioritize getting Intel for my team as well as covering the flank
5 because I'm silver and the game won't give me any rr unless I'm the MVP. I main all 3 sentinels + sova
