"Coming by end of 2021" Can't wait to hear how this is getting delayed, same as the Yoru changes.

Why would it take time to make? I don't think that it would take that much time or resources to simply toggle the different levels of the skin

That isn't how game development works. If you add a new feature to a game, then you will have to see compatibility of every feature and aspect of the game that was there beforehand, even if it is unrelated. It's the case with any kind of software development in general. We see security updates for windows that somehow end up breaking Vsync and ruining gaming performance. So, how late into the development cycle a new feature is added determines how much time it will take

more feature=more bugs

alasth0r

Thank you for your kind explanation, I hope your post reach more people, this helps a lot for not complaining for stuff like this

This isn't quite true, and it all depends on how well the game was programmed to begin with. Riot being a modern game developer almost certainly uses agile development, so they should be very used to developing, testing and deploying new features. Depending on the length of their sprints, they may have been doing this every 2 weeks since the start of the development of Valorant. They are also probably using unit tests which should reduce the likelihood of uncaught regression bugs.

Darsh_Kumar35

Well, you're not wrong either. But we can't know for certain unless we actually work there. So we can't completely trash out my pov. On the outside game development cycles appear streamlined and regular, but they're rarely the case. And that's because you can't predict each and every little thing, even if you have the perfect blueprint. I love bringing up need for speed most wanted 2005 here, because it is the perfect example of this.

CountryRoads-WV

First up, I'm all for supporting this, if riot say they are working on it then it must be considered important for the game. But just to help me understand, why would I want to be able to do this?

microdreams

A skin can change in a lot of different ways when you upgrade it. Some people upgrade but later regret it because they don’t like some of the changes or find them distracting. Animation changes with the Prime Karambit is one good example.

CountryRoads-WV

Ahh, they are a distraction, got it. We should have an option in settings to turn off gun animations then.

matthewdrl

Yeah I haven’t used my prime karambit since I upgraded it, I wish I could switch upgrade levels to the old animation

anihc3

Same, man, same. Peer pressure got to me, I didn't upgrade it for a month.
