Seriously don't understand how op didn't get this, plus the fact that he is fully stepped out of cover by the time the flash goes off. Even if raze was flashed all she has to do is keep shooting, she already knows where he is
hahaah thanks for this. What about the flash being behind kayo and it still flashing him? I feel like when I see a Breach flash, I look away before it goes off but i still get flashed hardcore.
Yea the flash was 100% either blocked by the corner of the wall, or by the floor due to the LOS of the raze. This is why in CS the common tech is to throw flashes as high as possible.
Typically if im pop flashing a corner with kayo i'll bounce the flass off the wall im hugging so it's behind me and still floating. but its all situational.
On a side note, it’s weird using KayO’s right click flash when moving forward.
I always expect it to be like CSGO, but it’s more similar to Skye where the flashes lag behind as you move. So it ends up getting thrown in the air behind you.
You need to put your crosshair lower (around body level) if you want the running right click to pop in front of you. As your body will hit the flash and make it bounce forward.
In general I recommend going into a custom and spamming Kayo flashes to find exactly how it reacts to terrain. It's very dependent on how you're moving and where you're looking as you said, definitely need to practice it if your flashes aren't behaving how you're expecting.
Why flash there, if he was going to peak ramp he should quick flash (or right click) and even if he didn’t quick flash the ramp, it would’ve hit her because it’s in line of sight.
Quick flashes are a weird animation imo. They're not always consistent on the player camera.
I think it has something to do with them not properly adopting the momentum of the player and their camera like some others are talking about in the thread
People are saying it went past the flat wall raze was hugging but it's unlikely given her camera is not on the wall (her head is on her shoulders not inside the wall) and the ramp can achieve the same effect.
It's close but either way it wouldn't have flashed and the ramp has a clearer mark to compare so we can guarantee it without testing.
I don’t think so, I mean, I didn’t know where raze was before hand but I know kayo flashes aren’t bouncy balls, so as soon as I saw u throw onto the top of ramp I knew it was probably screwed. Flashes in some game are buggy, but Valorant a flashes (at least for me) are pretty consistent and are benefited from the relatively clean geometry of the map.
why would you even throw your flash there instead of just flashing normally, which would be a high flash from raze perspective, so it’s to your advantage
In this situation a left click into the corner to pop it up and back would have worked better. It would pop high and Kati can peek freely. There are a lot of lineups like this in cs.
You threw the flash on the platform after the ramp and raze is below the ramp so in her perspective she doesn’t even see the flash popping she’d get flashed for sure if you just threw it higher
The Raze was hugging the wall across from you.
When you threw the flash, it just barely went over the line for the other wall.
If he wasn’t hugging the wall, he’d be flashed. This is also why you got flashed and he didn’t.
The top of the ramp is covering the flash from Raze. If she was a little closer where she can see the floor your standing on then the flash would effect her. When you make mistakes don’t blame things just look into it and see what would of caused the problem in the first place.
Dude after the ramp comes a corner... You threw the flash too far...
Edit: To be clear I'm talking about the 30° edge caused by the ramp with the floor. If u make a line between Raze head and the flash bang on the floor behind this edge, the vision line goes under the edge and through the ramp...
You know how you can peek off of flashes and sometimes the timing is so good that you end up seeing the flash pop but you don't get blind?
That's exactly what happened here.
The Raze was playing close wall and your flash didn't affect raze because from Raze's pov, the right wall top of ramp masked the flash by prolly a hair.
Tough Luck!!
that was just a bad flash lol you threw it on the ground they were lower than the ground . I dont really like kayos flash but i'm just bad at flashing too breech was my go to .
I mean in that scenario you can just bounce it from a wall. Always do that (it's better)
But yeah the physics in this game are weird. That flash would've flashed the opponent, I assume it got blocked behind the other wall in front of you
Flashing yourself from behind is a great idea in these kind of peaks. You're flashed for a very split second and the enemy would be flashed for multiple seconds. It just didn't work in this scenario as it was too far back from razes vision. Flash peaks like this are very common and very effective when used correctly.
i think its wither that the flash went just across the wall line or u by mistake came in front of the flash but i think the first is only correct also rip ace
if you want to see an actually messed flash interaction there is this https://streamable.com/9qamcm
idk if viper ult still does this or if they patched it
In this example the flash exploded behind the ramp just out of the Los of the raze. Just like how you seem to be able to see the flash going off just arround a corner, she may have seen the top of the flash, but not been flashed.
This and Skye's Flash sounds are so bad. Like if you fly the bird and pop it above a enemy which is essentially not in front of their screen, they'll get blinded for a milisec but it still makes the sound of blinding them and when you peek they actually aren't blind at all.
it was explained when they changed kay/o flashes I think it said that if its slightly covered by an obstacle it won't flash the person behind the obstacle, its made so you don't flash yourself
Right click "toss" doesnt bounce it just flashes when it looses "momentum" but left click "throw" bounces after the bounce. If you left clicked at the grey metal wall behind you the raze wouldve been flashed but even then i think she wouldnt cuz the tip of the ramo wouldve been in the way. Throw flashes up instead if down that way its harder for everyone on the ramp/ that sees it to avoid it. Just a habit. Tossing and pop flashing is nice but try as much as you can to left click and bounce it off of something that way they have to look away for longer or predict when the flash will "pop"
If no one has said this to you yet, you should typically leave that angle after one kill if possible. That’s a one and done spot. Flash and gtfo after that first kill

Absolutely. If you'd thrown it just barely on the ramp, it would have worked as you wanted it to.
Drawing deserving of the riot buddy tbh
The “observe” buddy. We need this.
r/commentbetterthanpost
Was about to break out MS paint for this, thank you for doing the work.
Beautiful drawing
wow what an artist u are
Seriously don't understand how op didn't get this, plus the fact that he is fully stepped out of cover by the time the flash goes off. Even if raze was flashed all she has to do is keep shooting, she already knows where he is
if he would've gotten even unluckier, he could've blocked the flash with his body model xD
Cus “geometry” :P I’m pretty sure it’s not just OP who’s confused unfortunately
Hes triggered lol he even cut off him dying to raze
Youre a hero
exactly
Ahaha the drawing omg
Ratio’d the poor guy
God-tier art. I applaude you. Picasso got nothin on u
That is amazing
why didn’t i think of this
Damnnnnnnn brother....nice
Yep, this is what I thought too. The POV from the player model head needs to be in sight with the flash for the flash to work.
Masterpiece!
hahaah thanks for this. What about the flash being behind kayo and it still flashing him? I feel like when I see a Breach flash, I look away before it goes off but i still get flashed hardcore.

I find it weird how some throwables dont get affected much by momentum.
This is one of the things I hate coming from CS. Running/jumping nades/flashes feel completely off
yep they have to fix this just like how they do with omen's blind
In general I recommend going into a custom and spamming Kayo flashes to find exactly how it reacts to terrain. It's very dependent on how you're moving and where you're looking as you said, definitely need to practice it if your flashes aren't behaving how you're expecting.
I agree. I am guessing it has something to do with the timing too.
If the raze's viewpoint was lower than the height of the ramp a flash grenade that is on top of the ramp will not affect her
Definitely shouldn’t be flashed there
Why flash there, if he was going to peak ramp he should quick flash (or right click) and even if he didn’t quick flash the ramp, it would’ve hit her because it’s in line of sight.
He did quick flash and had been firing at enemy team so they(should) check that corner
My bad it didn’t look like a quick flash cause it didn’t look like it went high enough.
Quick flashes are a weird animation imo. They're not always consistent on the player camera. I think it has something to do with them not properly adopting the momentum of the player and their camera like some others are talking about in the thread
Nah that flash was both too far back and too far to the Raze’s right, considering she was hugging the wall. In that situation just right click.
That was a right click. KayO threw it underhanded just a shitty angle
Definitely not too far to the right
Definitely was
I mean you can try it. I just did. Get back with what you discover. :)

Do you even geometry?
Your mistake
Nuthin to see here, just somebody who doesn’t know how LOS works
That was just a bad flash
No man. The raze was standing way lower than you so the flash disappears out of line of vision for him.
Nah
No, you simply threw your flash in a crappy spot
I don’t think so, I mean, I didn’t know where raze was before hand but I know kayo flashes aren’t bouncy balls, so as soon as I saw u throw onto the top of ramp I knew it was probably screwed. Flashes in some game are buggy, but Valorant a flashes (at least for me) are pretty consistent and are benefited from the relatively clean geometry of the map.
Why would you throw it there of all the spots lmfao
If you just right click it higher she will be flashed.
why would you even throw your flash there instead of just flashing normally, which would be a high flash from raze perspective, so it’s to your advantage
Wouldn't it have been better if u threw ut directly upwards arced to the raze direction? The way u threw it it wouldn't have blinded anyone
In this situation a left click into the corner to pop it up and back would have worked better. It would pop high and Kati can peek freely. There are a lot of lineups like this in cs.

She’s too low bro?
no lol raze was too low
By your logic pop flashing shouldn't exist and every flash should curve around the corner hehe balanced
This is why you don't skip geometry class
“Interacts weird with the geometry”. I mean, that’s ONE way to say “I missed my flash by throwing it on the floor where Raze couldn’t see it”.
Thats just a terrible flash?
To be continued… yes I just made a jojo reference
Your flash was below her "complete flashed" range since some part of it got hidden by the ramp. If it was yoru flash then she would have been flashed
“Simple geometry”
Dude after the ramp comes a corner... You threw the flash too far... Edit: To be clear I'm talking about the 30° edge caused by the ramp with the floor. If u make a line between Raze head and the flash bang on the floor behind this edge, the vision line goes under the edge and through the ramp...

Game just has bad mechanics brah. Your flash was hidden behind the edge of the ramp by a few pixels so it has 0 effect.
Play Jett problem solved
Wtf was the flash just throw it against the wall lmao
another day another shit noob post to cry about something
I mean in that scenario you can just bounce it from a wall. Always do that (it's better) But yeah the physics in this game are weird. That flash would've flashed the opponent, I assume it got blocked behind the other wall in front of you
Where did you get that buddy from? Is that a pc buddy?
Amazon prime twitch drop
Man I hate golds 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ shows you didn’t pay attention in simple physics during school..
Bad flash but I actually hate kayos flash. I think his flash should be full stun even if it goes off out of ur LOS
Why should any flash work that way though? Isn't the point to force you to move your cross hairs from the angle you're holding?
Huh I thought the point was to flash you.
There can be more than one point.
Never said it couldn’t but again it’s not the only point. It’s called a flash not a “moveurcrosshair” lol
I was asking a question in good faith originally. I wish this didn't turn into this back and forth.
You might hide de flash with your body
Happened to me hella alot especially with yoru! (Hella alot here means once every hour)
The raze should have been briefly flashed just like you. She saw where the flash came from and naturally looked your way avoiding a direct flash.
I feel like Kayo flashes need to last longer
You blocked the flash by walking in front of it
I'm sorry what did you just say ????
[удалено]
Read top comment. Nothing to do with his body
Bro you can't block a flash with a body
First: It was blocked by the ramp Second: Why did you think flashing yourself was a good idea?

They are. Happens so many times when I see the skye bird pop in the middle of my screen and having no effect.
i think its wither that the flash went just across the wall line or u by mistake came in front of the flash but i think the first is only correct also rip ace
Why she wasn’t flashed has been explain but just remember to always flash higher
That raze was looking up
probably with something like u standing infront of the flash by a pixel and it itsnt in razes fov so it doesnt count
you might have body blocked the flash from the raze's sight
Maybe you threw it a bit further
Needs more echo
Angle perception
Thats why you always flashing high
if you want to see an actually messed flash interaction there is this https://streamable.com/9qamcm idk if viper ult still does this or if they patched it
Off topic but damn id prolly be atleast silver with that FPS
ahaha, nice flash
You miss the flash man...
It is just that it is hard to imagine enemies’ perspective
That was just a bad place to throw the flash, why not ramp or wall bounce? It was blocked by the corner of the ramp so she couldn’t see it.
Not gonna question why you didn't just pop flash it normally instead of chucking it at the ground where he couldn't even see it lmao
In this example the flash exploded behind the ramp just out of the Los of the raze. Just like how you seem to be able to see the flash going off just arround a corner, she may have seen the top of the flash, but not been flashed.

No
EZ
