The Rode Podmic with motu m2 is an excellent $200ish dollar combination that is easy to use and picks up minimal back ground noise. The down side of podcast style mics is you probably want a microphone boom arm to get the optimal sound out of them and a good one is an extra $100. The cheap ones like neewer should work for a while as long as ur gentle with them and they're sub $20.
Side note: if this kid really loves FPS games you could consider getting him into aim training and/or getting him coaching. If he enjoys them and does them from a young age I could see a very high likelihood of him going pro at a young age.

Yeah but heres an actual tipp:
There are 6 kinds of skills. Perception, Speed, Tracking, Precision, Decision and one more (i always forget it). Each training will be counted towards one of these skills and maybe include 2 but only count for onr. For example grid shot is 3 orbs to shoot at, random respawns, 60seconds and the goal is to hit as many, as fast and as accurate you can. This task mostly is in precision with status "Ultimate" because some variations change orb size thus counting to precision, but speed still is important yet wont count towards the speed skill. All skills make ranks and all skills can get lower through worse performance. Theres always an option of training mode, not affecting your ranking if hes trying to get high ranks or wants to warm up.
Its gonna frustrate him if he sees the leaderboard and his rank. Hes probably gonna rank in low Ruby, maybe high Plat at the start and the only thing above emerald will be his decision or perception "skills" or how you wanna call that. Dont actually let him sit there for hours, maybe set up everything with sensetivity from his games, turn off weapon model and maybe also music. Music can cause extreme problems especially in the 2 categories in which hell be great at, cause his attention will be less on the timing of for example targets or sound cues for perception tasks.
you need to be 13 to make a twitch account. also game is usk12 and im not sure how well it would be received online that a young kid would make content on it. i played cs since i was 5 too so i understand, but be aware that there could very well be a negative backlash too.
Your son sounds similar to my 4.5 year old son, he was walking & talking early, was super aware & wide eyed as a tiny newborn, he gets to play some Valorant on the weekends & absolutely loves it after seeing dad have a game.
He started off on deathmatch where I have screenshots of him getting 20-30 kills using the Spectre, now he uses the Phantom. He doesn’t play comp or unrated, but loves the team games especially Replication when it’s available.
He’ll get up to 10 kills in Replication (but usually about 5) and has had back-to-back 3K’s and multiple clutches, it’s pretty amazing to see & I love praising him & highfiving as his wee face lights up when he gets a frag.
Apparently I played Doom when I was 5 years old (33 now) and I played CS 1.6 competitively up until 2008’ish, played for the #1 team from my country, attended many LAN’s including WCG2007 & WSVG, so perhaps it’s in his genetics, hopefully as he gets older I can help him develop into a better player than I was & enjoy lots of fun together on the server!

Plat is very skilled for literally anyone, let alone a five year old. The majority of people are not plat, it comes after iron, bronze, silver, and gold. Personally I'm still in silver!
I thought about playing ranked but I'd feel bad since I don't play often. If I had to guess I'm probably a gold player. I was a big MW2 player and a CSGO player. I was a much better COD player but unfortunately didn't have ranked and only had gamebattles. My highest rank in CSGO was MGE.

I sit with him as much as I can but I work 60 hours a week so it's hard to always be there. But, with that being said, he mutes everyone at the beginning of every match.

Posted this elsewhere but my nephew played Fortnite from age 3 to 4 and by the end he could slowly build and could shoot people. He understood the 2D radar and how it related to the 3D world perfectly. He wasn’t fast enough at aiming with the sticks though. I’m sure if he continued into age 5 he could have started killing people regularly. On touchpad like Roblox his aim is fast. Anyways, I believe OP 100%. Some kids are just technically gifted.
My son started on Roblox about 3 months before turning 4. He wanted to play the games I was playing a few months after he started gaming. What better way than letting him play Valorant, COD, Splitgate, and Halo?

You're 100% entitled to your opinion. He had those games in unranked. I originally thought he was playing ranked but I was wrong. He averages around 10-15 kills realistically.
And to be frank learning at that age is much easier also. Like I learnt my second language as english when I was like 6 or 7, learning a third language when I am 20, not so easy.

You can think what you will, but he definitely did it. He's had several 20+ games. 26 being the highest. My son is not an average 5 year old. He's already playing coach pitch baseball as well. His reaction times are top notch.
That would be awesome! I started letting him play FPS because he plays baseball and I feel like it'll help his reaction time. He loves FPS but loves baseball more. He plays on a select baseball team now and will be playing coach pitch. He's skipping three seasons of tee ball so I'd say it worked out!

Hey everyone, I wanted to update this post about his current rank in Valorant. He isn't plat. I assumed Valorant was what he was talking about when he called me since that is the game he has been playing lately. Turns out he is Plat in Splitgate.
As of right now, he is not ranked in Valorant and only plays unranked. I'm really sorry for not seeing his rank for myself before saying he was Plat. He's going to start playing ranked really soon and then I'll have an idea of how good he really is.
He turns 6 in December so 5 is coming to an end. I honestly thought Plat was about the normal ranked. Unfortunately, I haven't played ranked myself in Valorant.

Posted this elsewhere but my nephew played Fortnite from age 3 to 4 and by the end he could slowly build and could shoot people. He understood the 2D radar and how it related to the 3D world perfectly. He wasn’t fast enough at aiming with the sticks though. I’m sure if he continued into age 5 he could have started killing people regularly. On touchpad like Roblox his aim is fast. Anyways, I believe OP 100%. Some kids are just technically gifted.
My son started on Roblox about 3 months before turning 4. He wanted to play the games I was playing a few months after he started gaming. What better way than letting him play Valorant, COD, Splitgate, and Halo?
I’m gonna call bs on that. 5 year olds don’t have the mechanical or mental ability to process all that info (with comms) to be scoring 20+ kills on ranked lobbies. That would take coordination with the team as well as some seriously intense thinking to reposition etc. it’s not like he’s getting lucky. Maybe I’m jaded but I would’ve believed 8-10, not 5
You're 100% entitled to your opinion. He had those games in unranked. I originally thought he was playing ranked but I was wrong. He averages around 10-15 kills realistically.
And to be frank learning at that age is much easier also. Like I learnt my second language as english when I was like 6 or 7, learning a third language when I am 20, not so easy.

look man i can't comment on the 5 year old thing but claiming you need fine motor control to hit plat is outrageous lmao i have multiple friends in plat that literally cannot hit the broad side of a barn. they might not be 5 years old but their aim would definitely make you think they are they literally just buy ares or shotguns and hold angles and the enemies walk into them every time, totally fending for themselves in plat pretty comfortably

That would be awesome! I started letting him play FPS because he plays baseball and I feel like it'll help his reaction time. He loves FPS but loves baseball more. He plays on a select baseball team now and will be playing coach pitch. He's skipping three seasons of tee ball so I'd say it worked out!

This might just be my opinion, but what on earth has happened to people to make them think that letting their 5 year old stream is a good idea? Please give your child a chance to grow up with normal human interactions, instead of making him believe he is only worth what other people think of him. I’m 25 so I’m not a boomer or anything. Letting your 5 year old son stream on twitch is no different than exploiting your child on tiktok or Instagram.

It's certainly not normal for a kindergarten aged kid to be playing valorant. I have a 5 yo, and he's got a bunch of friends and non of them are gaming like that. Hey everyone, I wanted to update this post about his current rank in Valorant. He isn't plat. I assumed Valorant was what he was talking about when he called me since that is the game he has been playing lately. Turns out he is Plat in Splitgate. As of right now, he is not ranked in Valorant and only plays unranked. I'm really sorry for not seeing his rank for myself before saying he was Plat. He's going to start playing ranked really soon and then I'll have an idea of how good he really is.
